Raveena Tandon ruled the ’90s with her strong screen presence and great performances. Being a public figure comes with great burdens, and Raveena has also been involved in several controversies. The Mohra star once opened up about being targeted by the tabloid, which gave her sleepless nights. Keep scrolling for the deets.

In the 90s, Raveena reigned as one of Bollywood’s most popular leading ladies, but alongside stardom came the harsh glare of gossip tabloids. Often targeted by sensational stories, she found herself at the center of baseless link-ups and controversies that took a heavy toll on her personal life. In a throwback conversation, the actress revisited those challenging years, speaking about her emotional struggles while navigating the darker side of fame.

When Raveena Tandon Opened Up On Her Tabloid Nightmare

A few years back, Raveena Tandon opened up about the tabloid torture she faced in her career. She was linked to even her brother once or more; such controversies kept her awake at night, and she cried to sleep often. According to MensXP, she spoke about the ordeal in an interview with Film Companion. The actress said, “I remember many, many sleepless nights that I would cry myself to sleep and I would dread every month, another yellow, gossipy tabloid completely ripping me, my credibility, my reputation, my parents into shreds and I would wonder, ‘What is it all about?’”

She continued, “They linked me with my own brother, and Stardust wrote about that as well. ‘There is a handsome, fair boy who comes to drop Raveena Tandon, we have discovered Raveena Tandon’s boyfriend. ‘ We have lived through that. Who would clarify, and how much would you? You were at the mercy of those journalists and editors. Even if you would say ‘hello?’, they would say, ‘yeah, okay, take it with a pinch of salt.’”

On the professional front, Raveena Tandon was last seen in Ghudchadi, which was released in 2024. It featured Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthaan, Khushalii Kumar, and Aruna Irani in pivotal roles alongside Raveena.

Jane Fonda Says ‘I Can’t Stop Crying,’ & More

Tributes are pouring in for Robert Redford, the great actor, director, and Sundance Film Festival founder who died September 16 at the age of 89. One of the most moving comes from his costar Jane Fonda, who appeared in five movies with him: 1960’s “Tall Story” (Redford’s first movie — he went uncredited), 1966’s “The Chase,” 1967’s “Barefoot in the Park,” 1979’s “The Electric Horseman,” and 2017’s “Our Souls at Night.”

In a statement provided to IndieWire, Fonda said, “It hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can’t stop crying. He meant a lot to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for an America we have to keep fighting for.”

The Sundance Institute said in a statement about its founder, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our founder and friend Robert Redford. Bob’s vision of a space and a platform for independent voices launched a movement that, over four decades later, has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema in the U.S. and around the world. Beyond his enormous contributions to culture at large, we will miss his generosity, clarity of purpose, curiosity, rebellious spirit, and his love for the creative process. We are humbled to be among the stewards of his remarkable legacy, which will continue to guide the Institute in perpetuity.”

Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, told IndieWire in a statement, “In addition to being a titanic acting and directing talent, as an early board member of the Sundance Institute, I saw first-hand the Sundance Kid’s passionate commitment to indie film and young artists.   Robert Redford truly gave back. The entire scope of American film would have been much poorer without him. An amazing legacy of an amazing man.”

Other tributes came from Marlee Matlin, who recognized on X the incredible impact that Redford’s Sundance Film Festival had on allowing smaller human dramas to flourish. “Our film, CODA, came to the attention of everyone because of Sundance. And Sundance happened because of Robert Redford. A genius has passed. RIP Robert.”

Colman Domingo wrote on X, “With love and admiration. Thank you Mr. Redford for your everlasting impact. Will be felt for generations.”

Robert Redford has passed away. He was part of a new and exciting Hollywood in the 70s and 80s. Hard to believe he was 89.

Raj Kapoor Was In Coma & Dilip Kumar Kept Crying, “Maaf Kar De Mujhe” Yearning For A Last Wish

It was on the unfateful day of June 2, 1988, when the Showman of Indian Cinema, Raj Kapoor, breathed his last. The superstar passed away after struggling for his life. But in the last few days, his health deteriorated, and he slipped into Coma. While his family was by his side in these last days, his best friend Dilip Kumar was also informed about his condition.

Dilip Kumar, who was in Pakistan for an event, rushed back to Delhi to be by his best friend’s side. The superstar, however, did not know that this was the last time he was meeting his ‘Laale Di Jaan’, a title he gave him endearingly.

Dilip Kumar could not believe that Raj Kapoor had slipped into Coma, and he tried every bit to revive him. To bring him back to consciousness, the Naya Daur actor reminded the Sangam superstar of all that their childhood held in Pakistan.

Taking him down memory lane, Dilip Kumar held Raj Kapoor‘s hand and talked about their ancestral home in Peshawar, the kebabs, and how he had brought kebab ki khushboo with him from Pakistan just for his friend.

Dilip Kumar’s Heartfelt Goodbye To Raj Kapoor: A Friend’s Last Wish Left Unfulfilled

In Dilip Kumar’s autobiography, Rishi Kapoor himself wrote a note about his father’s last meeting with the Devdas actor. Both of them are helpless, one lying on the bed and the other trying to make him live just to fulfill that one wish together!

Rishi Kapoor, in his note, wrote, “I remember very clearly how he (Dilip Kumar) walked into the room where Papa was lying unconscious and drew a chair close to the bed on which he sat holding Papa’s hand. He began telling Papa, ‘Raj, aaj bhi main der se aaya. Maaf kar de mujhe..‘ I know you like to be in the limelight and have all the attention on you. Enough is enough. Get up, sit, and listen to me. I have just come back from Peshawar, and I have brought the aroma of chapli kebabs to temp you. You and I will go together and will walk through the bazaar, like we used to and enjoy the kebabs and rotis. Raj, wake up and stop acting, I know you are a great actor.”

Concluding the note Rishi Kapoor wrote a hearbreaking good bye from a friend to another friend, “…(Dilip Kumar said) Raj, mainu le jana hai tusi Peshawar de ghar de aangan wich.’ His voice was now choking and tears were brimming over from his eyes as he spoke.“

With that breaking voice, a last wish was left unfulfilled, and while Dilip Kumar looked one last time at Raj Kapoor, everyone in that hospital room knew that the Showman was not returning to them ever again.

Raj Kapoor breathed his last on June 2, 1988.
