written by jummy84

BTS Movie Weeks, a collection of four concert films from Korea’s history-making boyband, BTS, has grossed over $10M at the global box office, according to HYBE and Trafalgar Releasing.

The concert films were released in over 80 territories, across 2,700 cinemas, and premiered globally from September 24 to October 5.

There are screenings still ongoing this month and into November, across South Korea, Vietnam and Japan.

BTS confirmed in July that a full-length album will be released in spring next year, alongside a world tour, marking the group’s long-awaited return. In 2022, the group went on hiatus, as members Jin, Suga, J-hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook enlisted for Korea‘s mandatory military service and pursued solo activities.

BTS Movie Weeks was distributed worldwide by Trafalgar Releasing, excluding South Korea and Japan, where the title was released by Megabox and Avex, respectively.

Accompanying the film screenings around the world, cinema foyers carried installations and themed message walls, and also offered dancefloors and gathering spaces for BTS fans to come together.

Four concert films were screened: BTS’ 2016 performance “On Stage : Epilogue,” 2017’s “Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour —The Final,” 2019 world tour “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself — London” and 2021’s “Muster Sowoozoo.”

BTS Movie Weeks marks the third collaboration between HYBE and Trafalgar Releasing with added fan and exhibitor activations. Previous partnerships include the “HYBE Cine Fest In LATAM” in 2024 and “HYBE Cine Fest In Asia” in 2025.

“We’re truly excited by the response to BTS Movie Weeks” said Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing. “It’s a testament to the enduring power of BTS and the anticipation for their return, while also showcasing innovative new ways to create global event cinema experiences.”

Kantara Chapter 1 has grossed over ₹800 crore worldwide, surpassing Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.

The crown of the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 has been passed on from Chhaava to Kantara Chapter 1. The Rishab Shetty film crossed ₹800 crore in box office collections worldwide on Wednesday, and also leapt past Chhaava’s lifetime collections of ₹807 crore in the process.

Rishab Shetty directed and plays the lead in Kantara Chapter 1, the prequel to Kantara.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office update

According to Hombale Films, the production house behind Kantara Chapter 1, the period actioner earned ₹717 crore worldwide in its first two weeks. The studio made this announcement on Friday in the form of a social media post. In its third week, the film has continued earning at a breakneck pace, adding ₹38 crore net in India in its third weekend. Since then, the film has added ₹92 crore gross worldwide in six days, which would take its total to ₹809 crore worldwide. This is higher than Chhaava’s final haul of ₹807 crore.

However, other sources claim that Kantara Chapter 1 is still some distance away from Chhaava’s record, with Sacnilk putting its worldwide haul somewhere around ₹775 crore after 21 days (as of Wednesday night). Kantara Chapter 1 has earned ₹556.75 crore net in India and an estimated $13 million overseas. An English-language version is now set to release later this month.

The highest-grossing Indian films of 2025

In the list of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025, Kantara Chapter 1 and Chhaava are followed by Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, which collected ₹576 crore worldwide. Rajinikanth’s Coolie, with a worldwide haul of over ₹500 crore, sits in the number four spot, while Yash Raj Films’ spy thriller War 2 rounds up the top 5 with a final collection of ₹365 crore. Three other Indian films – Mahavatar Narsimha, OG, and Lokah Chapter 1 – have grossed over ₹300 crore this year. Only one other Hindi film makes it into the top 10 – Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, which is just behind Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan.

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a sequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. It is the second-highest-grossing Kannada film ever, only behind KGF Chapter 2. The film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah.

The Kannada period action film has now crossed ₹400 crore worldwide, eclipsing the lifetime collection of the first Kantara film in the process.

Kantara Chapter 1 worldwide box office collection day 6: Rishab Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth star in this blockbuster.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office update

Kantara Chapter 1 had a very strong opening weekend, particularly in India. It has since carried that momentum on to the weekdays, showing just a small drop on Monday, and then managing to climb back on Tuesday. So far, the film has earned ₹290.25 crore net ( ₹348 crore gross) in India in its six-day run at the box office.

Overseas, Kantara Chapter 1 has not set the cash registers ringing quite at the same level as the Indian market, but it has done well. In its first six days, the film has collected over $7 million in international territories. This takes its worldwide collection to ₹414 crore with a couple of days still remaining in its first week at the ticket window.

Kantara Chapter 1 becomes second-highest-grossing Kannada film

On Sunday, Kantara Chapter 1 had gone past the lifetime collection of KGF Chapter 1. On Tuesday, it surpassed the first Kantara as well. The 2022 sleeper hit had earned ₹408 crore worldwide, which Kantara Chapter 1 has now surpassed. It is now the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, behind only KGF Chapter 1 ( ₹1250 crore). On Tuesday, Kantara Chapter 1 also beat the lifetime haul of other recent hits like Kamal Haasan’s Vikram ( ₹413 crore) and the Bollywood horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 ( ₹411 crore). It now has a chance to be the first Indian film to breach ₹1000 crore this year.

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 sleeper hit Kantara. Set a thousand years before the events of the first film, it shows the tussle between the residents of Kantara and a neighbouring kingdom that wants to annex their lands and resources. Apart from Rishab in the lead, the period action drama also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah in the lead roles. Kantara Chapter 1 has received glowing reviews from critics and fans alike.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection day 1 (updated live): Rishab Shetty’s prequel to 2022’s Kantara is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. According to the latest update, Kantara Chapter 1 has already surpassed the ₹40 crore mark.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection (updated live): Rishab Shetty film is looking at a bumper opening.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office update at 7 PM

The Sacnilk report states that Kantara Chapter 1 collected ₹47.76 crore on its opening day of release. The film is expected to cross the ₹50 crore mark by the end of the day. It has already crossed the opening day collections of several hit films of the year, including Saiyaara ( ₹22 crore), Sikandar ( ₹26 crore), and Chhaava ( ₹31 crore). Can it beat Pawan Kalyan’s OG ( ₹84 crore) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie ( ₹65 crore)? It seems unlikely.

Jr NTR tweeted about the film and wrote, “Congratulations to the team of #KantaraChapter1 on scoring a resounding success. @shetty_rishab sir pulled off the unthinkable by excelling both as a mindblowing actor and a brilliant director. My best wishes to the entire cast and crew, along with @hombalefilms, for fearlessly backing Rishab sir’s vision.”

HT review of Kantara

An excerpt from the Hindustan Times review of the film read, “Rishab Shetty balances the folk traditions that have inspired the film with modern sensibilities better this time around. Chapter 1 gives its women more agency than the first film ever did. But even this one can’t resist the knight-in-shining-armour trope. However strong the woman is, a man must rescue her in the end. Rishab Shetty’s writing seems to allow women to have power and independence only when they rebel or antagonise. Otherwise, it is reduced to tokenism. However, still props to the writer-director for giving a female character more prominence this time around, and even giving her some of the most powerful moments in the film.”

As per the latest update on Sacnilk, OG collected ₹ 5.96 crore on its seventh day of release. The film ends by teasing a sequel which will explore more of OG’s story.

At the success meet, Pawan’s co-star Sriya Reddy praised him and said, “Pawan Kalyan sir encourages women. As a woman, I feel we’re not supported by men as much as we deserve. Then comes someone like Pawan sir… He’s not insecure about me taking center stage in a scene. I am in awe of him.”

Pawan’s OG scripts history

Three days before its theatrical debut, OG is rewriting the North American box office story. The Pawan Kalyan-starrer became the first ever Telugu film to have crossed $2 million pre-sales in North America without a trailer release — an indication of Pawan’s superstardom. While fans of the actor aren’t surprised with the new record, it indeed surprised trade analysts. “The film’s trailer is yet to be out and we have only three days for release, and look at the craze, it’s magnificent,” said a US exhibitor. Pawan Kalyan, known for his swashbuckling roles, is a huge box office draw. The fact that he also became the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh only added to the exciting buzz. While Pawan’s earlier films too had craze but the buzz shrouding OG is the best.

OG to open to record numbers

“We are expecting OG to open to record numbers, not only in the Telugu speaking states, but also in the US” said producer DVV Danayya. “Considering the craze, we are releasing the film in a record number of theatres. OG’s storyline, Pawan garu’s gangster role and stylized action sequences have fans swooning over. We are confident that the film will strike a chord with the audiences.” After disappearing from Mumbai’s underworld, Ojas Gambheera (OG) resurfaces after a decade to seek vengeance against rival crime lords. Baaghi 4 box office collection day 2: Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt’s violent actioner showed a shocking downward spiral on its second day of release.

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 2: Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, and Harnaaz Sandhu-starrer Baaghi 4 released in theatres on Friday to mixed reviews from critics. The fourth film in the Baaghi franchise, expectations were riding high on its performance at the box office. It seems that there has been a lukewarm response to the film so far, as the film showed a downward spiral on its second day of release. (Also read: Sanjay Gupta reacts as The Conjuring Last Rites beats Baaghi 4 in India: ‘Our best action stars are sitting at home’)

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 2: Tiger Shroff stars in this action thriller.

Baaghi 4 shows drop in collections

As per the latest update on Sacnilk, Baaghi 4 collected ₹9 crore as per early estimates. This is lower than its opening day numbers, which stood at ₹12 crore. The total collection after two days of release now stands at ₹ 21 crore.

The downward spiral is a worrying sigh for Baaghi 4. It is just the second day of the film’s release, and given that it is a weekend, the film was expected to build on the momentum. Can the film pick up pace over the next few days? That will decide the film’s fate at the box office.

Sanjay Gupta’s sharp call out

Meanwhile, amid the film’s lukewarm response, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta expressed his disappointment with Bollywood films sticking to franchises and same old rules. He said, “Franchise films without original directors are tanking. Is there a lesson to learn for the producers???” He also noted, “Me in my 20’s/30’s could never imagine an English film outperforming a Hindi film. Today’s reality – An English horror film does double the business of a main stream Hindi action film. What changed???” He referred to the better box office collection of the horror film The Conjuring Last Rites, indicating that viewers preferred watching a Hollywood film over a Hindi release.

Baaghi 4 is the fourth instalment in the franchise, which began in 2016 with Baaghi, starring Tiger and Shraddha Kapoor. The sequel saw Tiger reprising his role, with Disha Patani and Manoj Bajpayee alongside him. Baaghi 3 brought back Shraddha Kapoor and also starred Riteish Deshmukh. Unlike the first two films, this wasn’t a box office success, as it suffered due to theatre closures amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Baaghi 4’s story and screenplay have been penned by Sajid Nadiadwala. It is directed by A. Harsha and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
