Katie Porter Criticism Is Descending Into a Misogynistic Free For All

Katie Porter isn’t necessarily above criticism, and it’s fair to say maybe she could have done things better in the recent CBS interview, which is currently going viral. I do not condone or defend Porter snapping at her staff to, “get out of [her] fucking shot.” But I am asking why nobody seems to have a normal, proportional response to it. Pundits across the board have agreed that these videos are career-enders in and of themselves. Meanwhile, the commentariat at large has taken them as license to indulge in unchecked, gleeful misogyny.

Random commenters on Bluesky and X have now begun opining that they’ve always has issues with Porter. Some cited her “arrogant” attitude and her appearance. Some claimed she always seemed too “angry” to be trusted. Some called her “kooky.” Even her whiteboard wasn’t immune.

Personally, I think it’s simply that the patriarchy stew we’ve all been swimming in for our entire lives has gotten thicker without us realizing it.

In basic terms, here’s what happened. Porter, who is running for governor of California, sat for an interview with CBS’s Julie Watts. Watts pressed Porter on how she would reach out to Republican voters, who she will need in order to win. Porter scoffed that she doesn’t need Republicans, who make up around 40% of the electorate, to win the governorship. Watts pressed further, Porter grew visibly frustrated, and finally Porter accused Watts of being unnecessarily combative.

Anupamaa Producer Rajan Shahi Calls Rupali Ganguly A ‘Soft Target’ Of Criticism

Producer Rajan Shahi has come to the defense of his show’s lead actress, Rupali Ganguly, calling her a “soft target” who is often unfairly criticized. In an interview with Screen, Rajan stated that people “derive pleasure” from speaking ill of Rupali, and that they do so to gain media attention.

Rajan recalled an incident where he had to throw an actor off the set after learning the person was inviting journalists to their home to “badmouth” the show. He said that this actor later ran a smear campaign against the series. “Why didn’t you speak when you were a part of the show?” he questioned. Rajan emphasized that Rupali is an easy target, and speaking against her guarantees coverage.

He revealed that he constantly tells Rupali not to be affected by the negative comments. “Nobody is perfect, even Rupali might be at fault in places,” he said, “When you work together, issues are bound to happen.” He added that he and the team sometimes “laugh” at the immature behavior of actors who speak against her, especially when they have no professional achievements of their own to talk about.

Rajan also praised Rupali for her immense dedication to the show, noting that she has sacrificed a lot of time for the role. He credited her with taking a stand to be on the show despite initial division from the channel. The producer compared her success to that of other television legends like Smriti Irani, Sakshi Tanwar, and Mona Singh, stating that only a few actors have ever achieved this level of success in their careers.

About Anupamaa

Snoop Dogg’s Rep Says Comments Addressing LGBTQ+ Criticism Are “Fake”

An Instagram comment attributed to Snoop Dogg, in which the rapper addressed recent comments he made voicing discomfort with LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films, is “fake,” according to his representative. Per The Hollywood Reporter, someone posing as Snoop apparently gained access to his Instagram account and posted a comment on Hollywood Unlocked’s page that read: “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons. All my gay friends know what’s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6-year-old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect.”

Snoop’s representative did not specify who authored the comment, and, curiously, it remains live as of Monday, September 1st.

In his original comments made on the It’s Giving podcast late last month, Snoop recounted taking his grandson 2022 Pixar movie, Lightyear, and being shocked to see one of the main characters being raised by a lesbian couple. When his grandson asked how two women could have a baby, the rapper said he was at a loss for words. “I didn’t come in for this shit. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,” Snoop recalled, adding that the moment “fucked me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of shit that I don’t have an answer for… It threw me for a loop.”

GURU RANDHAWA’S FUTURE IN JEOPARDY?” – Singer Faces Severe Criticism Over Azul Music Video, Could It Impact His Career? | Glamsham.com

Guru Randhawa’s new song Azul has gone viral within no time, but not for all the good reasons. The music video where Randhawa is a photographer who goes to an all-girls school to take a class photo has come under immense flak for s*xualizing schoolgirls and depicting them in a derogatory way.

Representing Schoolgirls and Alcohol Metaphors
The clip starts by announcing it’s “highly addictive.” But audiences were stunned to see Randhawa not only sexualising school-going girls (played by adult women) but even comparing them with different types and brands of alcohol. The singer makes at least 15 references to alcohol throughout the song, employing them as metaphors to describe women’s looks, aura, and personality. Critics are of the opinion that such comparisons are tone-deaf and insensitive, particularly in 2025, when women’s representation discourse is more prevalent than ever.

Public Outrage and Criticism
The track has also triggered outrage on social media platforms, with numerous women condemning Randhawa for peddling a “pornographic fetishisation” of children. According to them, while the roles are played by adults, the school environment validates a sick message that normalises harassment and objectification of teenage girls. Some netizens criticized the video for celebrating improper fantasies in the name of music and entertainment.

Silence from the Singer
With the backlash on the rise, Randhawa has not yet released a statement. Still, he has already disabled comments on his Instagram posts, which shows him being cognizant of the controversy. This only ignited more debate, as fans and critics alike wait to hear if the singer responds to the criticism.

Cultural Context
Though Punjabi music has had a tradition of comparing women to booze, Randhawa’s Azul is in the dock for overstepping. The mix of school references and drunken analogies has seemed to many as socially irresponsible and has brought the singer into the spotlight.
