5 Coronation Street spoilers next week: David and Shona get heart-wrenching news

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

A special episode of Coronation Street follows David and Shona Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd and Julia Goulding) devastation after being told their unborn daughter has a mass on her neck.

The floor falls from beneath the couple’s feet next week when the consultant tells them that the tumour could be cancerous.

Meanwhile, Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) continues to struggle amid husband Tyrone’s (Alan Halsall) recovery, and Carla Connor (Alison King) can see straight through Becky Swain’s (Amy Cudden) behaviour.

The Driscoll clan try to get Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) on the right path, and Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) makes a huge mistake in front of his sister’s social worker.

Here’s a look at everything happening in Corrie between Monday 10th and Friday 14th November.

5 Coronation Street spoilers next week

1. David and Shona Platt receive devastating news about their unborn daughter

Shona’s scan reveals something worrying ITV

David is raging following an argument with Kit (Jacob Roberts) at the precinct and shoves past him, leading to an arrest for assaulting a police officer. As a result, he fails to pick Shona up for her scan but Kit finally relents and drives him there.

The Platts gaze lovingly at the monitor, but the sonographer deals some bad news – the baby has a mass on her neck.

Later in the week, a special episode follows David and Shona’s journey as they prepare to speak to the consultant about their unborn baby.

Shona can’t see that David is putting on a brave face. ITV

From Shona’s point of view, we see how much she’s struggling amid David’s casual attitude. She orders him out of the car and says she doesn’t want him at the hospital, unaware that he’s putting on a brave face to try to stay strong for them both.

The consultant confirms the presence of a tumour, and explains that should Shona decide to continue with the pregnancy, she’ll have to undergo complex surgery. The couple are shell-shocked when it’s revealed that their daughter could have cancer.

2. Carla Connor believes Becky Swain is lying about being targeted

Lisa stands with her arms crossed staring at Becky in Coronation Street

Is Becky telling the truth? ITV

Lisa (Vicky Myers) wonders whether Becky is telling the truth about being spied on at her flat. She’s offended, believing that her wife doesn’t trust her.

Later, Carla urges Lisa to see through Becky’s lies and that if she was really in danger, she wouldn’t be risking Betsy’s (Sydney Martin) safety by staying at No. 6. Little does she realise, Becky is listening in…

3. Fiz Dobbs reaches breaking point

Fiz shouts at her sewing machine in Underworld in Coronation Street

Fiz is in a bad way. ITV

Tyrone struggles to break up an argument between Ruby and Hope. Fiz has a meltdown at work and starts to smack her sewing machine in frustration, admitting to Izzy (Cherylee Houston), Kirk (Andrew Whyment) and Michael (Ryan Russell) that she’s stressed and struggling.

The next day, Michael lets slip to Ty about Fiz’s behaviour.

Wanting to start providing for his family again, Tyrone proposes going to work in the garage office. However, Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is in a bad way following his separation from Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine) and makes it clear that he isn’t going to open the business – he’s heading straight back to bed.

4. Will Driscoll is hiding something from his family

Megan talks to Eva, Ben, Will and Maggie in the Rovers back room in Coronation Street

Will returns from Leeds in a bad way. ITV

Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) hopes that James (Jason Callender) could be the key to helping Will settle in – by organising for him to attend some PT sessions. It becomes immediately clear that the teenager isn’t interested, and would rather focus on his phone.

Later, Will tells Eva and Ben (Aaron McCusker) that he’s heading to Leeds for a meeting with his old athletics team, but he’s not telling the truth. Coach Megan drops him home, and Ben insists on treating her to a pub lunch.

Will is clearly unhappy, but will he reveal why?

5. Brody Michaelis lashes out at Sally and Tim Metcalfe’s parenting

Sally and Tim have an argument with Brody in Coronation Street

Brody is furious with Tim and Sally ITV

Lou’s been fighting behind bars and is up in court. Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Tim (Joe Duttine) decide not to tell Brody, but Kit drops them in it and he lashes out, accusing them of denying him the chance to support his estranged mother.

Branding them useless foster parents, he’s shocked to see that Joanie and her social worker have overheard everything.

The trouble for the Metcalfes doesn’t end there – Sally spots that Tim is checking out Trisha’s social media, and she brands her a predator again. Tim asks his wife to change the record.

Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldesley was asked to return before

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Catherine Tyldesley is about to make her highly anticipated return to Coronation Street, and fans can’t wait to see what Eva gets up to when she’s back on the cobbles.

The main change is that she’s returning with a new husband and step-children (and a mother-in-law “from hell”), and she’s going to be stepping into the pub now that Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews) has vacated it.

In conversation with RadioTimes.com and other press, Tyldesley opened up on her return, explaining that she’d actually been asked to go back before, but the circumstances weren’t right, until now.

“I really meant what I said when I left, that I would love to come back because Eva is so much fun to play. It felt really serendipitous,” Tyldesley explained.

“I was in Malta filming and my agent said, ‘Kate [Brooks] would like to speak to you about Corrie’, and I assumed it was for someone’s funeral and they’d want me to rock up.

“Kate said, ‘Would you like to be landlady?’ and I screamed. I was really shocked. It’s an absolute dream.”

Tyldesley added: “I’ve been asked before to come back and I always made a point of emailing the producers because it genuinely didn’t work in the past because I had other projects. It all came around at the right time, on a personal and professional level, it felt right and I’m so thrilled to be back.”

She went on to explain how pleased she was to hear that Eva had been living a life full of love off-screen, with her husband Ben (Aaron McCusker).

“They’re deeply in love,” Tyldesley said. “They’ve got this blended family and it’s been nice. I assumed when I was asked to come back she was going to have loads of baggage and trauma but no, that’s not the case. There are obviously things that have happened in her past that we might see further down the line but in general, she’s been having a lovely time!”

Tyldesley also praised Pauline McLynn, who’s joining as mother-in-law Maggie, and will certainly stir things up.

“When I’m watching what she’s doing on set, I’ll watch the monitor and I know I’m seeing a Corrie icon. The way the writers have structured things for our characters is just hilarious, it’s constant jibes. Deep down, there’s a moment that we did not so long ago where Eva, in a roundabout way, says, ‘If I wasn’t with Ben and I’d just met Maggie, I think we’d be mates!’ There are a lot of similarities.”

Coronation Street’s Channique Sterling-Brown opens up on ITV soap exit

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Fans of Coronation Street were devastated to hear that Channique Sterling-Brown would be stepping down from her role of Dee-Dee Bailey after three years.

The popular character was a fan-favourite, and Sterling-Brown also won the award for Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards in 2023.

But the decision to leave was Sterling-Brown’s, who explained why to press including RadioTimes.com.

“I made the decision in spring, and it wasn’t a rash decision,” Sterling-Brown explained. “I took a couple of months from being offered my next year’s contract to actually even respond. I felt really torn but I just had the sense that it was time.

“I’m very led by my faith, so I really took my time over it and prayed into it, and I found a real sense that I had done what I’d come to do, I’d achieved what I was sent here to do, so it was time to be brave.”

Speaking about the future, the actress said she wants to explore her career and take on new challenges.

“I’m going in with an open mind because I’m relatively young,” Sterling-Brown said. “I would love to get on the stage again. Telly is amazing, but it’s such a different experience to being on the stage.

“I’d love to do a film, I’d love to do a drama, I’d love to do more comedy. It’s such a big industry out there. I don’t really have a wish list, but I do have private ambitions, which I’ll keep.”

As for beloved Dee-Dee, Sterling-Brown remained tight-lipped on her final storyline, only spilling that “how it ends is right for her journey”.

No air date has been confirmed for Dee-Dee’s final episode.

7 Coronation Street spoilers next week

1. Betsy Swain in mystery arrest drama as Carla Connor reveals Becky insecurities

Lisa wonders if Carla trusts her, ITV

Carla tells Lisa she’s sold the Rovers to someone called Ben.

While it sounds as though Carla is unaware of Ben Driscoll’s (Aaron McCusker) connections, we know that he is actually engaged to Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley).

Eva will be taking charge of the pub with her partner and his mother, Maggie (Pauline McLynn), later this month.

Meanwhile, Carla admits she’s worried about going to Ireland as she doesn’t want to leave Lisa alone with Becky, and Lisa questions if Carla trusts her.

Lisa assures Carla she loves her and has no interest in Becky.

With Carla away, Betsy persuades Becky to model some of her designs for her college project, and as Becky struts around, Lisa can’t help smiling and joining in.

When Betsy films them and uploads it to her socials, though, Becky panics that people will recognise her.

Betsy later stays out all night, and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) tells Lisa her daughter has been arrested.

As Betsy sits alone in a cell, tired and confused, Lisa blames Becky’s sudden reappearance for causing Betsy to struggle once more.

Becky is stung, while Betsy is interviewed and told that, according to DI Costello, she damaged a police car, resisted arrest and tried to attack him.

Betsy refuses to comment, while Costello spells out to Becky that she needs to disappear again, or things will be even worse for Betsy.

Has DI Costello set this whole thing up?

2. Theo Silverton cheats as Todd Grimshaw fears bowel cancer results?

Todd worries about his test results for bowel cancer, and after he tells an alarmed George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) he wants to plan his own funeral, George checks his emails and discovers Todd’s hospital appointment.

Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) encourages George to support Todd, and Todd is grateful to have him as he heads in to see the doctor.

In the Bistro, Theo and Gary Windass (Mikey North) meet with Pete (Andrew Hayden-Smith) to discuss a potential contract.

But as Pete emerges from the bathroom, Todd is reeling. Has Theo cheated?

Theo is remorseless as he accuses Todd of sneaking around, and Todd explains his health scare.

As the week continues, Bethany is put in charge of Hope, who’s on work experience.

When a client shows them some ‘miracle pills’ that promise strong hair, nails and weight loss, Hope is impressed.

But Bethany warns that these companies are only after money and don’t care about people’s health, referencing her own weight loss surgery as an example.

As the client leaves, she realises her pills are missing, and Bethany accuses Hope, ordering her to empty her bag.

When Hope refuses, Bethany tries to grab her bag, causing her stoma bag to split.

Last year, Bethany had to be fitted with a permanent stoma as a result of complications from the aforementioned operation.

One year on, how will she cope with what happens in the salon?

Anyone affected by Bethany’s story can find support at Colostomy UK. You can also call their 24 hour helpline on 0800 328 4257.

The actor has played fan-favourite character Jenny Connor (also known as Jenny Bradley) on and off since 1986, and announcing the news on social media, Matthews paid tribute to the show.

She wrote on Instagram: “I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra ten years because I loved it so much! It’s time though to play those parts I always hoped I would when I’d ’grown up.’

“Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter x”

An ITV spokesperson declined to comment further on the news when contacted by Radio Times, but we understand Matthews has now filmed her final scenes as Jenny.

When is Billy Mayhew leaving? 2026.

Actor Daniel Brocklebank has been confirmed to be leaving our screens as Billy Mayhew in Coronation Street next year.

The Sun reports that a story-based decision will see Billy Mayhew depart the cobbles not long after losing his husband, Paul Foreman, in a new issues-based storyline in 2026.

Confirming his exit to the paper, Daniel said: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.

“I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.

“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”

RadioTimes.com reached out to ITV for comment.

Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney)

When is Debbie Webster leaving? 2027.

Actress Sue Devaney is being written out of the show as her fan-favourite character Debbie Webster is due to be killed off in a long-running dementia storyline.

Devaney first appeared as 15-year-old Debbie Webster and starred in the role for one year, before returning to the soap in 2019, and has been a main cast member since 2020.

A source told Metro: “It’s one of the show’s biggest storylines of the year, and a real chance for Sue to finally get her time in the spotlight – it will just be devastating for fans that it will effectively be her final storyline.”

They added: “It’s one of many major storylines new boss Kate Brooks has in the bag, and there will not be a dry eye in the house.

“There is no doubt in the Corrie family that she will give the performance of a lifetime and make Debbie’s exit one to remember for years.”

The report also revealed that the character of Debbie was expected to stay in the show beyond 2025 to complete the long-running storyline, so there is plenty of Debbie still to come on-screen.

The storyline has since been confirmed by ITV and actress Sue Devaney, who revealed in June 2025 that she would still be on the soap until 2027.

Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley)

When is Eva Price returning? Autumn 2025.

Actress Catherine Tyldesley is returning to Coronation Street as former Rovers Return barmaid and Leanne Battersby’s half-sister Eva Price later this year.

The Sun initially reported that the actress would begin filming with the soap this summer and will be back on-screen in the autumn.

A source told the paper: “Cath has been away for a while and worked on countless other projects but she really missed Corrie.

“They’ve tried to get her back a few times but the stars have never aligned.

“But when she was approached with the idea for Eva’s return, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.”

The character of Eva left Weatherfield in 2018 with baby Susie following the tragic suicide of her true love, Aidan Connor, played by Shayne Ward.

The ITV soap later confirmed Eva’s return as the new landlady of the Rovers Return after Carla sells it, and Eva will be accompanied by her new husband and his formidable mother-in-law.

Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks shared: “We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow.”

JOINING

Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker)

When is Ben Driscoll arriving? Autumn 2025.

When Eva returns to Coronation Street, she will be accompanied by her new husband Ben Driscoll, played by Shameless alum Aaron McCusker.

Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks shared: “The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees-ups galore.”

She added: “To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline’s considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can’t wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done.

“Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be an exciting and eventful ride.”

Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn)

When is Maggie Driscoll arriving? Autumn 2025.

Father Ted legend and former EastEnders star Pauline McLynn is joining Corrie as Eva’s new mother-in-law, the formidable Maggie Driscoll.

The character is set to be interfering and clearly a mother-in-law from hell for Eva to contend with!

We feel a classic Corrie character in the making here!

Coronation Street just saved its police story with powerful Lisa Swain scenes

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Initially assuming that Becky had been in a coma, Lisa was reeling to hear she had actually been in Spain under witness protection from a gang, and that the real Tia Wardley’s body had been claimed as hers.

We’ve known for some time that all was not as it seemed regarding Becky. But, with the ITV soap leaning so heavily on its police set and criminal chaos of late, it rendered the saga slow and stale.

Then, coming face-to-face with the wife she thought had been dead for the last four years, all eyes were firmly on Lisa; and Myers gave a showstopping performance that turned the entire plot around.

Amy Cudden as Becky Swain and Vicky Myers as Lisa Swain. ITV

Viewers are used to actors portraying shock week after week, as soap land would be quiet and unusual without it.

What Myers achieved here, though, was to transcend the genre and make us truly care about the resurrection of a character we had never known until now.

Although Lisa won us over way back when she secured the conviction of killer Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), she has since clocked up quite the fanbase after being made a regular on the cobbles, and falling for Carla.

So it’s safe to say we were gripped by Lisa’s plight, as she journeyed from shaken widow, right through to traumatised witness and an outraged, protective mother.

The range of emotions spanning across one episode was something we hadn’t had the opportunity to see from Lisa, and both the script and the actress leading it gave their all, creating the most captivating instalment of Coronation Street in months.

Not only has the Becky reveal moved the story on at last, her arrival has elevated it, and amid all the corruption surrounding dodgy DI Costello, we’re back to character-driven drama with Lisa right at the very heart of it.

Carla looking at Lisa as Becky stands nearby in Coronation Street

Lisa told Carla that Becky is alive. ITV

It’s a welcome change of direction, and with newcomer Cudden delivering a strong debut, we’re now ready to find out what kind of person Becky really is.

Although Becky’s presence is sure to complicate the ‘Swarla’ relationship, with the actress recently describing her alter ego’s opinion on Carla, Lisa kept Carla fully involved in the aftermath, and it’s a breath of fresh air to finally take Lisa out of her comfort zone.

Usually seen either at the police station, bickering with daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) or enduring setbacks with Carla caused by her own struggles, Lisa now has the answers she’s been seeking, and more backstory than the limited, off-screen edition.

It’s not that we didn’t believe in what we’d been told, but it was difficult to engage with the mystery of Becky’s death and whether or not she was a rogue officer.

Being able to get to know Becky, and having an extra layer to add to Lisa’s persona, makes this arc all the more authentic.

Lisa’s explosive scenes have revived what started out as a mini-recreation of Line of Duty, transforming it into a worthy exploration of a popular Coronation Street mainstay’s psyche.

Coronation Street newcomer teases Becky Swain’s “dark side” after fake death bombshell

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Returning home after being out all night, Betsy played along as Lisa, her fiancée Carla Connor (Alison King) and Carla’s nephew Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) showered her with gifts.

But before long, Betsy insisted on meeting some friends, giving Lisa the cold shoulder but looking clearly unsettled about something.

In the precinct, Betsy left a message for Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne), who she’d just told her mum she had spent the night with.

In the midst of leaving Lisa a voicemail of apology, Betsy clocked a car coming towards her and let out a scream, calling her mum in a panic as Lisa and Carla raced to the scene.

Betsy was shaken up but physically unharmed, but Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) had been struck by the car after it swerved.

Viewers know that the car was driven by thieving Dylan and Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey).

Lisa is reeling from Becky’s reappearance. ITV

Carla raised the alarm with Tyrone’s family, and his fate was left up in the air as the episode came to a close.

Meanwhile, Lisa comforted Betsy and they shared a heart-to-heart about Becky’s absence on the teen’s milestone birthday, before Betsy headed out for a walk.

Alone in the house, Lisa was reeling as Becky suddenly walked in to greet her, and now, with Amy Cudden revealed to be playing Becky, the actress has shed some light on her character in her first interview shared with RadioTimes.com.

“My agent called and said they liked me but that the character was complicated and they wanted me to try a scene showing a different side to her,” shared Cudden.

“I had another chemistry read with Ali and Sydney in the back room of the Rovers Return.”

“This was more intimidating with a full camera crew. It explored a darker side of the character and the chemistry with the two other significant people she’d be interacting with.”

Expanding on Becky’s backstory, the star added: “A key piece of information was that she didn’t receive much care when she was younger and wanted to leave home as quickly as possible.

“This helped me lean into her independence, resilience, and toughness. I think she’s bright, capable at her job (when her passionate nature doesn’t get the better of her), and she adores her wife and child, who are the most important things to her.”

With Becky still in love with Lisa, who struggled with her grief for some time before moving into a solid relationship with Carla, Cudden has teased just what Becky thinks of Carla.

Carla is thrown by the situation

Carla is thrown by the situation ITV

“It was dangerous for Becky to return before, but her primary objective is to be with her wife and daughter. While there wasn’t a direct threat to that central family unit, she kept her distance,” she explained.

“Now that Carla is a clear threat and Lisa and Carla are deeply in love, Becky feels she must return to try and reclaim her family even if that puts her at risk.”

For those worried that Becky will disrupt the happiness of the newly-engaged ‘Swarla’, Cudden revealed: “I agree with fans who might be furious to see someone come in and disrupt one of the most beautiful on-screen relationships. It’s unconscionable, and they should be angry.”

However, she hinted that Becky’s presence won’t necessarily destroy everything.

“However, it’s such a complicated relationship that other feelings will emerge as it unfolds. Things forged in fire only get stronger. Becky is a “spanner in the works,” but it doesn’t necessarily mean the worst, though it will be very difficult.”

Pictures show the moment that Carla walks in on Becky as she tries to explain all to Lisa, and viewers can find out how Lisa reacts when Coronation Street continues on Friday 12th September from 6am on ITVX and at 8pm on ITV.
