Squid Game actor O Yeong-su’s sexual misconduct conviction has been overturned.

O Yeong-su’s conviction has been overturned

The 81-year-old star was convicted of two counts of sexual harassment in March 2024 but the Suwon District Court in South Korea has now reversed the ruling of a lower court.

The veteran actor had been accused of hugging and kissing a woman on the cheek without consent during a 2017 regional theatre tour, and while the appellate court acknowledged suspicion existed due to the fact the unnamed female had sought sexual violence counselling six months after the alleged incident and because the actor had apologised at her request, they also expressed concern about the possibility of the victim’s memory being distorted over time.

The court stressed the need to protect the defendant’s interests when doubts remain.

Following the new verdict, the alleged victim insisted it would not “invalidate the truth or erase the pain I have suffered”.

She added in a statement released through women’s rights organisation Womenlink: “Despite today’s ruling, I will continue to speak the truth to the very end.”

Womenlink blasted the decision, saying they were “outraged by a ruling that once again sexual violence in the theatre world.”

After being convicted, Yeong-su was sentenced to an eight-month prison term, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete 40 hours of attendance at a sexual violence treatment programme.

The prosecution had sought a one-year jail time.

The actor previously claimed he held the woman’s hand to guide her around a lake.

He added: “I apologised because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges,” he said.

But judge Jeong Yeon-ju found the victim’s records of the assault and her claims were “consistent … and appear to be statements that cannot be made without actually experiencing them.”

The judge added: “What’s written in the victim’s diary, and the counselling report of the victim after the incident pretty much match the details of this case.”

Best known for his role as Oh Il-name in Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’, Yeong-su won South Korea’s first Golden Globe award in 2022 for his role in the show, which saw poverty-hit contestants play childhood games with fatal consequences in a bid to win 45.6 billion won.

He is seen as one of the greatest stage actors in South Korea, appearing in more than 200 stage productions since 1963 and winning a string of major awards.

Pras Ordered To Pay $64 Million Amid Illegal Lobbying Conviction

Pras Michel, the Grammy-winning rapper and founding member of The Fugees, has been ordered to pay nearly $65 million to the federal government following his conviction on multiple conspiracy-related charges.

According to court documents obtained by Complex, federal Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly ruled that Pras had “obtained proceeds in the amount of at least $64,923,226 from his offense” for failing to register as an agent of China, conspiracy, and witness tampering.

Michel was found guilty in April 2023 on 10 criminal counts, including conspiracy and foreign lobbying.

The charges stemmed from his alleged role in helping Malaysian financier Jho Low gain political access to former U.S. presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, while also participating in schemes to illegally fund parts of their respective presidential campaigns.

“They already took 100 [million] from him and now they want another 64 [million],” Pras’ spokeswoman Erica Dumas told Billboard, expressing frustration over the mounting financial penalties the artist faces.

Michel’s legal troubles have been compounded by health concerns. His sentencing, originally scheduled for September, was postponed after he underwent emergency surgery for colon cancer.

“Due to emergency surgery to treat colon cancer, Pras was unable to appear at Friday’s scheduled sentencing,” Dumas told Rolling Stone at the time. “We are hopeful for his swift healing and recovery during this challenging chapter.”

Adding further controversy to the case, in 2024, Pras’ lawyer David Kenner pleaded guilty to criminal contempt of court for leaking confidential grand jury materials to Bloomberg News. Kenner had represented Michel throughout the high-profile federal conspiracy proceedings.

The rapper is now expected to be sentenced in December, where he faces up to 10 years in federal prison, though his attorneys have requested a reduced sentence of three years in light of his medical condition and cooperation with authorities.

Diddy Wants Fast-Tracked Appeal Over Prostitution Conviction, Sentence

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

UPDATE (Nov. 3): The Second Circuit Court of Appeals granted Combs’ unopposed motion to expedite his appeal on Monday (Nov. 3). Combs’ first appellate brief is due next month, and arguments are tentatively on track for April.

PREVIOUSLY: Sean “Diddy” Combs is trying to expedite his criminal appeal, saying he could be close to getting out of prison by the time his case is heard if forced to follow the typical, drawn-out argument timeline.

Combs is challenging both his July conviction and the resulting four-year prison sentence for arranging the drug-fueled sex marathons, known as “freak-offs,” between his girlfriends and male escorts. Jurors found Combs guilty of illegal prostitution, but they acquitted him of more serious racketeering and sex-trafficking charges.

As is the case in much of the court system, appellate procedure is usually slow. In the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, where Combs’ case will be heard, it takes nearly a year and a half on average to get a criminal appeal decided.

Combs’ lawyers don’t want to wait that long. They say in a Wednesday (Oct. 29) court filing that he could complete most of his prison sentence during the typical appeal timeline; Combs is getting credit for the year he’s already spent in jail, plus the sentence could be further trimmed down for good behavior or participation in a drug abuse rehab program.

“An expedited briefing and argument schedule is critical to ensure that Mr. Combs’s appeal of his sentence does not become moot while the appeal is pending,” writes his attorney, Alexandra Shapiro. “To ensure that Mr. Combs could meaningfully benefit from any appellate ruling vacating his sentence, we have proposed a schedule that would expedite this court’s consideration of Mr. Combs’s appeal.”

Shapiro suggests that the lawyers submit all their legal briefs by March and deliver oral arguments in April — that is, she wants the case heard just six months after Combs’ notice of appeal last week.

Wednesday’s court filing says prosecutors have consented to this expedited briefing schedule. This means it’s likely to get approved, absent scheduling conflicts from the Second Circuit.

A rep for the prosecution did not immediately return a request for comment. Shapiro said in a statement to Billboard, “Sean’s appeal will challenge the unfair use of the Mann Act, an infamous statute with a sordid history, to prosecute him for sex with consenting adults.”

The Mann Act, which makes it illegal to transport people across state lines for prostitution, indeed has an ugly past. Originally called the White-Slave Traffic Act of 1910, it has its roots in a government campaign to criminalize interracial relationships. Combs’ legal team said from the beginning of the case that Mann Act prostitution counts were improperly tacked onto his sex-trafficking indictment, and this argument has taken center stage since Combs defeated the heftier charges at trial.

Diddy Officially Appeals 50-Month Federal Prison Sentence Following Prost*tution Conviction

Lawyers for Diddy have officially filed a notice of appeal in his federal criminal case, according to court documents shared by journalist Meghann Cuniff.

The filing, submitted in the Southern District of New York on Monday, October 20, 2025, challenges both the final judgment and Diddy’s 50-month prison sentence. His legal team is appealing to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which oversees cases from the Southern District.

Diddy was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of prosttution. The charges were tied to allegations that he arranged for paid escorts to travel for sxual encounters. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering and s*x trafficking charges.

On October 3, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Diddy to 50 months in federal prison, a $500,000 fine, and five years of supervised release following his prison term.

Do you think Diddy will win his appeal?

Sean “Diddy” Combs Sentenced After Prostitution Conviction

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months, or just over four years, in prison following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, CNN reports.

The sentence was handed down Friday (Oct. 3) in a New York City courtroom by Judge Arun Subramanian. He also imposed a $500,000 fine against Combs, the maximum fine he can order.

Ahead of sentencing, Judge Subramanian explained that he would consider the “victims” involved — including singer Cassie and various male prostitutes — as well as Diddy’s remorse level and behavior after being acquitted of his more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. He also expressed his support of a pre-sentencing report suggesting Combs be sentenced to 70-87 months, or just under six years to just over seven years.

The Bad Boy Records founder’s defense team also shared a sentimental video with the judge in hopes of securing a light sentence. It featured Combs speaking to New York City youth, engaging in charity work, and grieving the death of ex-girlfriend, Kim Porter. He also wrote a letter expressing his remorse for the incidents of domestic violence that were exposed during his trial.

“Over the past thirteen months, I have had to look in the mirror like never before. My pain became my teacher. My sadness was my motivator. I have to admit, my downfall was rooted in my selfishness. The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily. I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”

While Puff appears to be apologetic, Cassie was sure to express her discomfort with the mogul possibly being released due to time served, calling him “the manipulator, the aggressor, the abuser, the trafficker” in her own statement to the judge. However, Combs still found support in his family and stars like producer Dallas Austin — who showed up to court for the sentencing — and Yung Miami, his ex who wrote a statement in support of the mogul.

Amanda Knox was thrust into the public eye after her wrongful conviction in the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy. At 20 years old, Knox was imprisoned after Italian law enforcement accused her and Knox’s boyfriend at the time, Raffaele Sollecito, of the murder. They were subjected to hostile media coverage shortly thereafter. Since their 2015 acquittal, Knox has shared her full story with the public.

Amid the promotion of Hulu’s 2025 series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, Knox discussed her decision to work alongside Monica Lewinsky in developing the miniseries.

“[Monica] had a lot of advice about reclaiming your voice and your narrative,” Knox told The Hollywood Reporter in a joint August 2025 interview with Lewinsky. “That ended up being a turning point for me,” she added.

As for the “hardest thing” about executive producing the show, Knox said it was “conveying what it feels like to be behind a closed door at the mercy of authority figures.” She added, “There’s resistance to acknowledging the depth of that trauma. The dynamics aren’t as clear cut as we see on TV shows, this cartoonish interaction. It’s way more complicated and nuanced.”

Below, learn what Knox is doing now and more about her case that gripped the entire world in the early 2000s.

What Was Amanda Knox Accused of?

Knox was accused of murdering Kercher when they were roommates in Perugia, Italy. Knox was convicted in December 2009 of faking a break-in to their apartment, defamation, sexual violence and murder, and she was sentenced to 26 years behind bars; Sollecito was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Italian prosecutors accused Knox of slitting Kercher’s throat while Sollecito and a man named Rudy Guede participated.

In 2011, Knox and Sollecito were found not guilty of Kercher’s murder after DNA evidence was revisited. During their ultimate appeal, Knox and Sollecito were formally acquitted by an Italian court in 2015.

How Long Was Amanda Knox in Prison?

Knox was in prison for four years after being wrongfully convicted of Kercher’s murder.

Where Is Amanda Knox Now? Post-Prison Life

Upon returning home from Italy, Knox graduated from the University of Washington and became a journalist and author. She published her first book, Waiting to Be Heard: A Memoir, in 2013 and later started a podcast titled “The Truth About True Crime.”

In 2016, Knox participated in Netflix’s documentary, titled Amanda Knox. Three years later, the activist returned to Italy to serve as the keynote speaker at a criminal justice conference by the Italy Innocence Project.

Months before Hulu’s 2025 miniseries The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox was announced, Knox released her second memoir, Free.

Where Is Raffaele Sollecito Now?

Sollecito works as a computer engineer, according to The Independent. In 2022, he and Knox reunited in Italy to catch up as friends.

Inspector Zende review: Manoj Bajpayee’s conviction makes this sluggish yet funny film on Charles Sobhraj’s arrest work

Inspector Zende movie review

Director: Chinmay Mandlekar

Cast: Manoj Bajpayee, Jim Sarbh, Sachin Khedekar, Girija Oak, Bhalchandra Kadam

Rating: ★★★

If Helen of Troy’s face was the one that launched a thousand ships, then Manoj Bajpayee’s is the one that can make you believe the impossible. Give him a script and he’ll have you convinced that aliens are running the local paan shop, and you would still be first in line to try it.

Inspector Zende review: Manoj Bajpayee stars as the titular character.

Inspector Zende comes across as a distant cousin of Manoj’s Srikant Tiwari from The Family Man, perhaps because the territory feels so familiar to him. The story follows the titular protagonist on his mission to catch murderer Carl Bhojraj (obviously Charles Sobhraj), with the pursuit unfolding as a quirky comedy.

Written and directed by Chinmay Mandlekar, the film plays out like a classic snake-and-mongoose battle, which is exactly how Zende himself frames it. It is based on real-life cop Madhukar Zende, who caught Charles not once but twice, a story that almost demanded a big-screen retelling. And what might look like cinematic exaggeration often turns out to be fact: Zende really did have two policemen sit on Charles during the train ride from Goa to Mumbai after his arrest!

The tone remains light. The squad of cops surrounding Manoj is as eccentric as he is, each with a quirk that marks them out. The gravity of Charles’s crimes, which earned him the nickname Bikini Killer, never disappears, but the film lets humour stand front and centre.

Where the film stumbles is in its pacing. The constant chase eventually wears you down, and after a point, you begin to wonder about the purpose of it all. The predictability does not help either, draining some of the energy from an otherwise lively setup.

In the performance department, Manoj Bajpayee plays Zende with his trademark conviction, blending charm into the role. Jim Sarbh looks every bit the suave Carl and nails the accent, bringing a touch of menace beneath the polish. Bhalchandra Kasam fits the role of Zende’s sidekick with ease, while Sachin Khedekar, though in a smaller part, leaves the right impression.

Overall, Inspector Zende is an engaging watch in parts, lifted by Manoj Bajpayee’s steady presence and a cast that rises to the occasion. Yet the repetition in storytelling keeps it from reaching the heights its premise promised. At three stars, this is a serviceable thriller with a humorous streak, more enjoyable for its performances than its plot.

Where is Amanda Knox now?

The author and activist married writer Christopher Robinson in 2018 and they’re parents of daughter Eureka, 4, and son Echo, 23 months.

And their eldest child is old enough to be curious about her mom’s past.

Her explanation goes something like this, Knox told TODAY.com: “It’s just, ‘When Mommy was young, Mommy went to Italy, and she made friends and she had fun, but then someone hurt her friend, and the police thought Mommy hurt her friend, and so they put Mommy in jail.'”

After which, she continued, “‘Mommy was in jail for a long time, and she was very sad. But then one day, Mommy proved that she was innocent and she got to go home, and then she met your daddy and had you and happily ever after.'”

Before you watch The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, streaming on Hulu starting Aug. 20, catch up on some of the craziest true crime moments captured on TV:
