Tame Impala Makes Tiny Desk Concert Return: Watch

Tame Impala made his return to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series on Friday to celebrate the release of his new album, Deadbeat.

Performing alongside his touring band, which includes longtime members Cameron Avery on bass, Jay Watson and Dominic Simper on guitar, and Julian Barbagallo on drums and percussion, Kevin Parker opted for an entirely-acoustic presentation for his Tiny Desk return. Parker had previously made his Tiny Desk debut in 2020, though due to the pandemic, it was presented “at home” instead of the NPR office.

For his new set, Parker first led his band through a pared-down rendition “Borderline,” a single from his 2020 album The Slow Rush. He continued with a pair of Deadbeat’s singles: “Loser,” which we named Song of the Week upon release, followed by the effortlessly-groovy “Dracula.” Parker and co. concluded the set with a rendition of the Currents favorite “New Person, Same Old Mistakes.” Each song includes layered and well-executed harmonies from his backing band. Johnny Depp joins Patti Smith on stage at London Palladium concert

Johnny Depp joined Patti Smith for a special performance to mark the 50th anniversary of her album Horses.

Johnny Depp and Patti Smith performing at Carnegie Hall

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor joined the Because the Night artist on stage at the London Palladium on Sunday (12.10.25) for her encore.

Depp played guitar on People Have the Power with Patti’s daughter Jesse on keyboards.

At the start of her encore, Patti introduced her entire band to the audience and then hesitated for a few seconds before teasingly adding: “And Johnny? And Johnny Depp? The original Johnny.” It was a reference to the line, “the boy looked at Johnny” from her epic song Land / Horses.

Depp previously joined Bruce Springsteen and REM frontman Michael Stipe among other musicians to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City, to perform at tribute concert People Have the Power: A Celebration of Patti Smith held on March 26.

The 78-year-old singer celebrated her acclaimed debut record alongside guitarist Lenny Kaye and drummer Jay Dee Daugherty, both original members of the Patti Smith Group, with her son Jackson on guitar and Tony Shanahan on keyboards.

Patti was a mixture of defiance and cheerfulness as she raged about “children starving because of a stupid f****** war” before joking about playing “Sunday night at the Palladium”.

Depp started his career as a musician before moving into acting and later formed the supergroup Hollywood Vampires alongside Alice Cooper and Joe Perry in 2012.

Depp was particularly close with the late blues guitarist Jeff Beck – performing on stage with the star in 2022 after winning his high-profile defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard in the US – and spoke of his anguish following the musician’s death from bacterial meningitis at the age of 78 in 2023.

A tribute from The Hollywood Vampires read: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend and guitar legend Jeff Beck. Jeff’s incredible musicianship and passion for guitar has been an inspiration to us all. His contributions to the industry will never be forgotten. He was a true innovator and his legacy will live on through his music. Rest in peace, Jeff. You will be greatly missed by us all.”

The Edward Scissorhands star was said to have been by “Jeff’s bedside” as he passed.

A source told People at the time: “They had a really tight friendship, they were extremely close, and he got even closer over this past summer when they were touring together.

“The sickness came on really quickly, and it all deteriorated rapidly in the last couple of weeks. Johnny is still processing this news. He’s devastated.”

Disturbed’s Belgium Concert Reportedly Canceled Due to Safety Concerns

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Disturbed’s upcoming concert in Brussels, Belgium has reportedly been canceled due to safety concerns stemming from singer David Draiman’s support of Israel.

The heavy metal band, as well as Megadeth, were scheduled to perform at the Belgian city’s Forest National venue on Oct. 15. However, the mayor of the municipality where the concert was to take place told the Brussels Times that he ordered the show to be canceled, citing “security risks.”

“My responsibility and priority are the safety of residents, neighbors, demonstrators, spectators and staff at Forest National,” Charles Spapens, the mayor of Forest, told the newspaper. “Given the police’s negative advice and the venue’s unique location, it was my duty to make this decision.”

Months earlier, Spapens lobbied for the gig’s cancellation, noting the controversial photo of Draiman signing an IDF bomb with “Fuck Hamas” during a visit to Israel. “This is about a man who signed a bomb that was dropped on Gaza. We do not support the presence of this artist, and even less so his position on Gaza,” Spapens said, calling the concert “a moral problem.”

Trending Stories

Coupled with the “c,” the concert was also scheduled to take place one day after a national strike and other demonstrations, including a prison staff strike in Brussels on Oct. 14, further causing the mayor and local authorities to reassess the Disturbed show, NME reports.

Despite Spapens’ declaration that the Disturbed concert is canceled, tickets for the gig are still listed on Live Nation, as well as still included on the band’s tour website. Disturbed have not yet commented on the Brussels show’s status. The group performed Friday night in Krakow, Poland, and is next set to play Paris, France on Sunday.

“The closest fans can get without being arrested.” Get ready for another spectacular concert experience! IMAX is re-releasing one of their original IMAX concert docs again on the big screen in theaters December. First released in 1991, Rolling Stones – At the Max is the first and only concert feature shot with IMAX cameras. “At the Max was always about bringing fans as close as possible to the energy of our live shows. With IMAX, that experience is bigger, louder, and more immersive than ever—we can’t wait for audiences to feel it all over again.” –The Rolling Stones. The film, which has not been in theaters since 2007, has already made $17 million worldwide before. Packed with career-defining performances of iconic hits including “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Brown Sugar,” “Start Me Up,” and more, the film puts audiences at the heart of the crowd, where every moment is enhanced by IMAX’s unmatched scale and sound. Starring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman. While it’s a common occurrence nowadays, it’s actually pretty cool to think about this being the very first concert doc they shot with actual IMAX film cameras and IMAX film stock (it was a big thing in the 90s – often screening at science museums). And now it’ll be even bigger & louder than ever! Go rock out with the Rolling Stones again in theaters this December.

Filmed during the band’s 1990 Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour, Rolling Stones – At the Max was shot across five concerts in three European cities using eight IMAX film cameras. The result was the first-ever feature-length IMAX concert film, showcasing the incomparable talents of the Rolling Stones and their stadium-filling power. First released in 1991, the critically acclaimed film is the first and only concert feature shot with IMAX film cameras. Starring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman, the film has been newly remastered with IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering (DMR) technology and features a brand-new sound mix—delivering the most immersive and electrifying presentation of this legendary performance to date. Rolling Stones – At the Max is a live concert doc co-directed by the filmmakers Noel Archambault, David Douglas, Roman Kroitor, and Julien Temple. Executive produced by André Picard and Michael Cohl. The IMAX movie was originally released in theaters in June 1992, and was also re-released again in 2007. IMAX will re-release Rolling Stones – At the Max remastered in IMAX theaters worldwide starting on December 10th, 2025 later this year. Want to watch?

Impact Data & Events Launches; Announces FREE #iVoted NYC Concert at Irving Plaza w/ Lay Bankz, Connie Diiamond, and More

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

October 6th, 2025 – Music industry veteran Emily White and a deeply experienced team of industry leaders have announced the expansion of their non-profit work to launch Impact Data & Events. The non-partisan group is born out of 2018’s #iVoted, 2020’s record-breaking #iVoted Festival, 2022’s #iVoted Sweepstakes, and last year’s production of 18 #iVoted Concerts that MIT has shown increases voter turnout by over 7%.

Impact Data & Events has created a data-model in partnership with Johns Hopkins University’s SNF Agora Institute that determines the top trending talent in any location with the most unregistered and non-voting fans. The org has also built a tool that shows where any talent can have the largest impact on elections to strategically guide in-person appearances and digital campaigns. These tools encompass talent not limited to music, entertainment, sports, influencers, and more.

Says White, “#iVoted isn’t going anywhere and lives under the larger entity of Impact Data & Events. We’re excited to be announcing a free #iVoted NYC Concert for election night, November 4th, at Irving Plaza with incredible artists booked from our Johns Hopkins’ data. But we’ve since learned that the largest impact on turnout is made by registering the most new voters, which is exactly what our data shows. There are tens of thousands of artists in our data. Expanding our non-profit work allows us to run and partner with strategic campaigns to activate key talent, as well as the millions of artists that are releasing music, to ensure the music industry in particular is maximizing voter turnout at scale. Impact Data & Events allows us to produce #iVoted Concerts, as well as free shows that support the climate, mental health initiatives, cancel student / medical debt, and more. At the same time, we’re fortunate to be working with arguably the leading digital marketing visionary in the industry, Bryan Calhoun. Bryan and I realized we can reach the talent in our data via targeted digital campaigns that are precise to each location, while also scaling this work to make certain all artists are engaged for maximum impact.”

Impact Data & Events offers its groundbreaking data tools to all non-profits looking to increase civic impact and beyond. They similarly create custom data plans and strategies tailored to each partner and goal. The org is currently piloting the first ever custom artist branded direct to fan voter registration tool for this Fall’s historic New York City mayoral election by targeting the top trending artists in and from NYC, per Chartmetric, while running strategic marketing campaigns to maximize reach and impact.

This all culminates in a November 4th #iVoted NYC Concert in the heart of Manhattan at Irving Plaza on election night featuring performances by Lay Bankz, Connie Diiamond, JayR Rashiq, DJ Nick Seale, with HOT 97’s Miabelle hosting, and more. RSVP HERE by checking your voter registration with HeadCount or by submitting a selfie from outside of your polling place /  at home with a blank and unmarked ballot. Ineligible voters also have free options to RSVP to ensure all are welcome.

Adds White, “Our core will always be producing free, data-booked impact concerts that the public enters by taking tangible action while simultaneously increasing civic participation. But expanding our digital offerings with our data model and decades of music industry experience is a natural evolution in an era where the most pressing issues of our time are at our fingertips at what feels like every moment. Impact Data & Events is excited to unite the industry and our partners to maximize voter turnout and solve issues that affect our daily lives and society at large.”

The non-profit was originally founded by Emily White, Mike Luba, and Pat Sansone of Wilco, with board members including Warped Tour Founder Kevin Lyman, John Boyle, Amaechi Uzoigwe, Steve Ferguson, Dr. Jonathan Gruber, Kathryn Frazier, Dana Meyerson, Jay Byrd, Lawrence Peryer, Evangeline Elder, Joyce Dollinger, and more.

Zach Bryan made history on multiple fronts during his concert at Michigan Stadium this past Saturday, September 27th. He not only became the first musical artist to play the Ann Arbor college football stadium, but also set a new record for the largest ticketed single concert in US history.

Drawing a crowd of 112,408 to “The Big House,” Bryan broke a record previously held by George Strait, who brought in 110,905 fans to his concert at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, in June 2024. Michigan Stadium is the largest stadium in the United States and the third-largest in the world.

Investigation Launched After Alleged Pepper Spray Incident at Richmond Turnstile Concert

A fan was reportedly pepper-sprayed during a Turnstile concert in Richmond, Virginia last Wednesday, September 24. The Baltimore hardcore band closed their set at Brown’s Island with “Birds” from their new album Never Enough, during which concertgoers are typically invited to join them onstage.

In a video circulated widely by CBS 6 News, one fan attempts to climb onto the stage, at which point they appear to be pepper-sprayed by a sheriff’s deputy. Turnstile bassist Franz Lyons can also be seen covering his eyes and running towards the back of the stage.

On Friday, September 26, Richmond Sheriff Antionette Irving told CBS 6 that the alleged pepper spray incident is currently under investigation. In the same report, a spokesperson for the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that local police department had been handling security at the Turnstile show.

When reached by Pitchfork, the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office offered no further comment. Pitchfork has also reached out to Turnstile’s representatives for for comment.

Turnstile are currently touring North America in support of Never Enough, with support from Speed, Jane Remover, Amyl and the Sniffers, Mannequin Pussy, and Blood Orange. The album was led by the singles “Never Enough,” “Birds,” “Seein’ Stars,” and “Look Out for Me.”

Zach Bryan Breaks U.S. Concert Attendance Record

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Although official numbers are still being confirmed, Zach Bryan broke the record for largest U.S. concert last night (Sept. 27) in front of 112,000 fans at Michigan Stadium on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Mi., just edging out the 110,905 mark set by George Strait in 2024 in College Station, Tx.

“This might be the craziest thing I’ve ever done,” Bryan told the audience from his in-the-round stage at the first concert ever held at the legendary venue. The 27-song set also featured a guest turn by opening act John Mayer on the Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil” and area natives the War & Treaty on their 2023 collaboration “Hey Driver.”

Bryan previously said he would no longer tour in a traditional manner and would instead play special shows like in Ann Arbor from time to time. The artist was also in the news of late for attempting to confront fellow country act Gavin Adcock backstage at an Oklahoma festival.

“Been the worst and best few years of my life,” he wrote on Instagram earlier this week. “So ready for the chapter to end. Gotta go make music fun to myself again. Each day I pray people understand I will never regret a thing and I am proud of myself, my family and my friends. there could be a million assholes who have never had a unique thought in their life preaching a million pounds of negativity and bullshit and it wouldn’t be worth a single soul who’s found strength and shelter in true songwriting and good live performances.”

NBA YoungBoy’s Manager Says United Center ‘B*tched Out’ After Chicago Concert Is Abruptly Canceled Allegedly Over Safety Concerns

Sorry in advance to those of you who thought you were seeing #NBAYoungBoy live this week in Chicago.

The #UnitedCenter has canceled the rapper’s show scheduled for Wednesday (Sept. 24). While the venue cited unspecified reasons for the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly speculated that it has to do with safety concerns. #Ticketmaster has issued automatic refunds to those who purchased tickets through its platform. For third-party purchases, attendees are advised to contact their point of purchase directly.

The cancellation follows the venue’s recent implementation of a strict no-bag policy for the event, prohibiting all bags, including clear ones. NBA YoungBoy’s manager expressed frustration on Instagram, stating, “United Center b!tched out,” and even slammed the person he believes made the final call.

This concert was part of NBA YoungBoy’s “Make America Slime Again” tour, which includes over two dozen U.S. dates through November.

The OG Concert (aka pre-release event) held in Hyderabad on Sunday night was a glitzy affair! Fans of Pawan Kalyan flocked in large numbers to get a glimpse of their favourite actor. What drew everyone’s attention was Pawan’s attire at the event. The actor dressed in his character (Ojhas Gambheera) in the film, and surprised everyone. It’s the first time that he came to a filmy event in such a style.

‘I forgot that I am Deputy Chief Minister’

Pawan Kalyan attended the event in an all-black ensemble, with the costumes signifying his character in They Call Him OG. Fans went berserk when they saw Pawan in such an attire, and his gesture was certainly one of biggest surprises of the night. “I never attended any event in my film costumes, but I did it for the first time only for my fans,” said Pawan. “Director Sujeeth pulled me into the world of OG so much that I forgot that I am Deputy Chief Minister and wielded the sword here at the event,” Pawan joked, adding that he was impressed with Sujeeth’s style of filmmaking. “The way he narrates the story may be short but he executes it effectively. The stylized action sequences is proof enough. Working for the film gave me the kind of high I experienced during Khushi (2001).”

Music composer Thaman and his team lit up the crowd with a spectacular live performance. I don’t know Japanese, but I learned the language for this song,” shared the actor. Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shriya Reddy, Arjun Das and DVV Danayya also attended the event. They Call Him OG is set for a release on September 25, 2025.
