Sean “Diddy” Combs Sentenced To 50 Months In Prison

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Bad Boy Records mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months in jail today (Oct. 3) on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution — the only two charges still standing from his sex trafficking and racketeering trial this year.

Combs, who previously pled not guilty to all charges, faced a maximum of 10 years in prison on the prostitution counts.

The sentencing came after a lurid, eight-week trial involving testimony from Combs’ former partner, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, that he abused and assaulted her over a decade-plus period. The jury was shown a 2016 security camera video of Combs beating Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel hallway after she attempted to flee one of his sex-fueled “freak-off” parties.

Federal District Judge Arun Subramanian said “a substantial sentence must be given to send a message to abusers and victims alike that abuse against women is met with real accountability.”

“To Ms. Ventura, Jane, and the other victims here who came forward, I can only say — your families are proud of you and your children, when they’re old enough will be proud of you, and I am proud of you for telling the world what really happened,” Subramanian said.

Said Ventura attorney Doug Wigdon, “while nothing can undo the trauma caused by Combs, the sentence imposed today recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed. We are confident that with the support of her family and friends, Ms. Ventura will continue healing knowing that her bravery and fortitude have been an inspiration to so many.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs Sentenced After Prostitution Conviction

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months, or just over four years, in prison following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, CNN reports.

The sentence was handed down Friday (Oct. 3) in a New York City courtroom by Judge Arun Subramanian. He also imposed a $500,000 fine against Combs, the maximum fine he can order.

Ahead of sentencing, Judge Subramanian explained that he would consider the “victims” involved — including singer Cassie and various male prostitutes — as well as Diddy’s remorse level and behavior after being acquitted of his more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. He also expressed his support of a pre-sentencing report suggesting Combs be sentenced to 70-87 months, or just under six years to just over seven years.

The Bad Boy Records founder’s defense team also shared a sentimental video with the judge in hopes of securing a light sentence. It featured Combs speaking to New York City youth, engaging in charity work, and grieving the death of ex-girlfriend, Kim Porter. He also wrote a letter expressing his remorse for the incidents of domestic violence that were exposed during his trial.

“Over the past thirteen months, I have had to look in the mirror like never before. My pain became my teacher. My sadness was my motivator. I have to admit, my downfall was rooted in my selfishness. The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily. I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”

While Puff appears to be apologetic, Cassie was sure to express her discomfort with the mogul possibly being released due to time served, calling him “the manipulator, the aggressor, the abuser, the trafficker” in her own statement to the judge. However, Combs still found support in his family and stars like producer Dallas Austin — who showed up to court for the sentencing — and Yung Miami, his ex who wrote a statement in support of the mogul.

Sean “Diddy” Combs Sentenced to More Than Four Years for Prostitution Charges

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison and pay a fine of $500,000, the maximum possible, after being found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. (That sentence adds up to just over four years, but the 14 months he has already served in prison will be deducted.) Today in Manhattan’s Federal District Court, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian outlined his reasoning behind the substantial length, citing the need “to send a message to abusers and victims alike that exploitation and violence against women is met with real accountability.”

“The Court has to consider all of your history here. A history of good works can’t wash away the record in this case, which shows that you abused the power and control over the lives of women who you professed to love,” said Judge Subramanian. “The court is not assured that if released these crimes will not be committed again.”

“To Ms. Ventura and the other brave survivors that came forward, I want to say first: We heard you. I am proud of you for coming to the court to tell the world what really happened,” added Judge Subramanian after issuing the sentence. “Mr. Combs, you and your family are going to get through it… You will have a chance to show your children and the world what real accountability, change, and healing [can look like].”

Before the sentencing was determined, Diddy rose at the defense table to give a 12-minute statement, reports The New York Times. “One of the hardest things I’ve had to handle is having to be quiet, not being able to express how sorry I am for my actions,” said Diddy. He apologized to Cassie Ventura and her family “for any harm or hurt that I’ve caused her, emotionally or physically.” He also apologized to former girlfriend Jane, saying, “I brought you into my mess.” Diddy then apologized to all victims of domestic violence, his family, and his children, and referred to his conduct “disgusting, shameful, and sick.” “No matter what anybody says, I know that I’m truly sorry for it all,” he concluded.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Sentenced To 50 Months In Prison For S*xual Assault Lawsuit; Rapper Apologises To Mother, Kids

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was sentenced to just over four years in prison on Friday after being convicted on prostitution-related charges involving his former girlfriends. His legal team argued for a 14-month sentence, emphasising that Combs is a reformed individual who has already served 13 months in a New York jail. Prosecutors, however, pushed for an 11-year sentence, citing his history of domestic violence.

Sean Diddy Combs Jailed For 50 Months In Prison

During the court proceedings, prosecutors detailed allegations of ab*se, and testimonies from several of Combs’ children—some visibly upset—were presented. The defence described him as an inspiring figure, while Combs himself offered a remorseful apology. Ultimately, Judge Arun Subramanian stated that a substantial sentence was necessary to serve as a deterrent and to send a message.

Before delivering the 50-month sentence, Combs addressed the court—his first public statement since the trial’s start. He apologised to his victims, specifically naming his ex-girlfriends, Casandra Ventura and ‘Jane, who testified under a pseudonym.

Sean’s Apology

“My actions were disgusting, shameful, and sick,” he said. “I got lost in excess, I got lost in my ego.” He also apologised to his mother and his seven children, many of whom were present in the courtroom. He pleaded for a second chance, asserting he would never jeopardise his time with his family again. “I ask your honour for mercy,” he implored. “I’m so sorry. They deserved better,” he added.

Combs expressed accountability, stating, “I don’t have nobody to blame but myself. I know that I’ve learned my lesson.”

What Happened Earlier In The Case?

The nearly two-month federal trial in New York City saw prosecutors accuse Combs of leveraging his celebrity and business empire to run a criminal enterprise and sex traffic his former girlfriends. They alleged that Combs arranged “freak-offs,” where he paid male escorts to have sex with his girlfriends while he watched and recorded, and that he coerced the women into unwanted encounters through drugs and violence.

Although Combs, 55, was acquitted in July of the most serious charges—racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking of Ventura and Jane—the jury found him guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution. Throughout much of the trial, Combs maintained a stoic demeanour, listening quietly as prosecutors painted a picture of a man who devastated his victims’ lives.

Prosecutor’s Verdict

Prosecutor Christy Slavik argued that a harsher sentence was justified given the gravity of the offences. She emphasised that a lighter sentence would allow Combs to escape accountability for years of alleged domestic violence and ab*se.

“Today is about accountability and justice,” she asserted, pointing to victim statements and photographs of injuries inflicted by Combs. “He didn’t need the money; his currency was control. This is a defendant who will pose a danger at any age.”

The defence countered by asserting that Combs was not a pimp and that the prostitution charges did not reflect his actual conduct. Lawyer Jason Driscoll explained that the conviction was based on the Mann Act, a law from 1910 criminalising the transportation of women for immoral purposes, but noted that Combs did not profit financially from the acts.

They portrayed Combs as a changed man, citing his positive contributions during his 13 months in Brooklyn jail, as well as underlying issues like trauma and dr*g addiction that influenced his behaviour. Defence attorney Nicole Westmoreland expressed that Combs had personally inspired her and highlighted his efforts to start his own record label and clothing line, which she claimed motivated other black entrepreneurs.

Many of Combs’ children testified emotionally, with some sobbing, describing him as a “changed man” and pleading for a second chance. His son Quincy Brown remarked that Combs had “evolved,” and Delila Combs, 18, begged for the opportunity for her family to heal.

Final Verdict

Judge Subramanian acknowledged their testimonies but emphasised that Combs’ actions went beyond mere consumption of prostitution. He was found to have ab*sed his victims physically, emotionally, and psychologically. “You had the money and the power to keep it going,” he said, “This was subjugation.”

The judge rejected the defence’s portrayal of the relationships as consensual and emphasised that Combs’s conduct caused lasting trauma. “You ab*sed them, physically, emotionally, and psychologically,” he said. “Both women will carry this trauma for a lifetime. You had the means to continue, and you chose to subjugate them. This is the reality of what happened.”

Combs will serve approximately 50 months, crediting the roughly 13 months he already spent in custody. He will also be fined $500,000. Following the hearing, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, announced plans to appeal the ruling.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sentenced to 50 months in prison on prostitution charges – National

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to just over 4 years in prison, three months after he was found guilty of two counts of prostitution.

Combs was given 50 months in prison and a fine of US$500,000, the maximum possible, for his conviction on federal prostitution-related offences. He will also be under five years’ supervised release after his time in prison is served.

In his ruling, Judge Arun Subramanian said “a history of good works can’t wash away the record in this case, which shows that you abused the power and control over the lives of women who you professed to love.”

“You were no john,” he added. “You were more than that, even if your currency was satisfying your sexual desires instead of money.”

Subramanian said a substantial sentence is required “to send a message to abusers and victims alike that exploitation and violence against women is met with real accountability.”

Federal prosecutors had asked that Combs, 55, be sentenced to at least 11 years and three months in prison. Comb’s lawyers urged the judge to sentence him to no longer than 14 months, which would have resulted in his near-immediate release, as he has already served nearly 13 months in a Brooklyn jail.

During the sentencing hearing, Combs’ six children crowded around the podium, imploring the judge to give their father a second chance.

Quincy Brown, the 34-year-old son of Kim Porter, who was adopted by Combs, shared that his father “has learned a lesson.” The family had seen him evolve, Brown said, and “he is completely transformed.”

“My father is my superhero. Seeing him broken down and stripped of everything is something I will never forget,” said another son, Justin Combs, 31.

Chance Combs, his eldest daughter, told the judge that while her father was been incarcerated, she saw changes in him that “feel real and lasting.”

“When we talk he speaks with a clear mind and sense of purpose that I didn’t always hear before,” she added.

“I know how hard it was to stand up here and tell me those things, but it’s important for me to hear,” Subramanian said to them.

After an emotional series of statements from the children, Combs’ legal team presented an 11-minute tribute video that featured clips showcasing the rapper’s philanthropic efforts, motivational speeches, home videos and scenes of him mourning his late partner Porter, who died in 2018.

While addressing the judge, Combs thanked Subramanian for “giving me the chance to finally speak up for myself,” as the former rapper did not testify during his trial.

“One of the hardest things that I’ve had to handle is having to be quiet. Not being able to express how sorry I am for my actions,” Combs said in his statement to the court.

“I want to personally apologize again to Cassie Ventura for any harm or hurt that I’ve caused her – emotionally or physically,” he added.

Combs called his conduct “disgusting, shameful and sick.”

“Because of my decisions, I lost my freedom, I lost the opportunity to effectively raise my children and be there for my mother,” Combs said. “I lost all my businesses, I lost my career, I totally destroyed my reputation.”

Combs said that he’s “lost my self-respect” and he has been “humbled and broken to my core.”

The sentencing marks the conclusion of the disgraced hip-hop mogul’s New York trial, which began on May 5.

In a letter to Subramanian ahead of his sentencing, Combs proclaimed himself to be a new man after realizing that he was “broken to my core.”

“Over the past year there have been so many times that I wanted to give up. There have been some days I thought I would be better off dead. The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you — I choose to live,” he said.

Combs admitted that he had “no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself.”

“In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I am no longer running from them,” he wrote. “I am so sorry for the hurt that I caused, but I understand that the mere words ‘I’m sorry’ will never be good enough as these words alone cannot erase the pain from the past.”

He went on to apologize for hitting, kicking and dragging his then-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 — an attack captured on security camera.

“The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily,” Combs wrote. “I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”

Rather than make an example out of him with a lengthy sentence, Combs asked Subramanian to “make me an example of what a person can do if afforded a second chance.”

The charges: What led to Combs’ sentencing?

Combs has been behind bars since his September 2024 arrest. He faced federal charges of coercing girlfriends into having drug-fuelled sex marathons with male sex workers while he watched and filmed them.

Combs had pleaded not guilty. His lawyers argued that prosecutors were trying to criminalize Combs’ swinger lifestyle and that, if anything, his conduct amounted to domestic violence, not federal felonies.

In July, Combs was found guilty of two counts of prostitution, including the transportation of Ventura to engage in prostitution. He was also found guilty of the transportation of former girlfriend “Jane” for the same purposes.

The Bad Boy Records founder was acquitted in July of the top charges — racketeering and sex trafficking. The defence won three acquittals after he was found not guilty of running a criminal enterprise and two counts of sex trafficking.

In all, 34 witnesses testified, headlined by Combs’ former girlfriends Ventura and “Jane,” who testified under a pseudonym. Both women said he was often violent toward them. Ventura said he forced her into hundreds of sexual encounters with paid male sex workers, while Jane recounted numerous “hotel nights.”

After the verdict was read, Combs’ lawyer Marc Agnifilo asked the court to release Combs from federal detention now that he is no longer charged with sex trafficking.

Combs’ legal team attempts to secure his freedom

Combs was denied bail after a jury convicted him of federal prostitution-related offences in July.

Judge Subramanian noted Combs’ violent history: “At trial, the defence conceded the defendant’s violence in his personal relationships, saying it happened with Cassie and Jane.”

Agnifilo asked that Combs be released on conditional bail to his home in Miami, and offered a US$1-million bond. Prosecutor Maurene Comey countered, saying to Subramanian that Combs should remain in jail until sentencing.

Later that same month, lawyers for Combs asked a judge to release him on a $50-million bond as he awaited sentencing.

Agnifilo said conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn were “dangerous,” and said defendants convicted in the past of prostitution-related charges that were similar to Combs’ were typically released before their sentencing.

He argued that the court should release Combs “on reasonable conditions” in advance of sentencing. The lawyer claimed that Combs “is not a risk of flight nor is he a danger to the community or to any specific people.”

Agnifilo said that if Combs was released on conditions, he “will not be violent to anyone.”

Combs’ lawyer also added a proposed bail package for the rapper with conditions including “a $50-million bond secured by Mr. Combs’ home in Miami,” which would also be co-signed by three “financially responsible people.”

Story continues below advertisement

The judge denied bail for Combs a second time.

His lawyers revealed they even reached out to U.S. President Donald Trump seeking a pardon following his conviction.

A source close to Combs’ legal team confirmed to NBC News that they had been in contact with the Trump administration.

This came after Nicole Westmoreland, a member of Combs’ defence team, told CNN in an exclusive interview that the music mogul’s team had reached out to Trump for a potential pardon.

In early August, Trump told Newsmax that Combs’ lawyers have “talked to me about Sean” but said he was unlikely to pardon the music mogul.

“I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile,” Trump said.

When Trump was asked if granting Combs clemency was more likely a “no,” he said, “I would say so.”

Last month, lawyers for Combs urged a judge to sentence him to no more than 14 months in prison for his conviction. In a written submission, Combs’ legal team said he had already been punished enough.

They said their client is a “changed man,” who had realized that his overuse of drugs had contributed to violent acts he participated in.

What’s next for Combs?

Combs was denied acquittal and a new trial on Tuesday, the judge rejecting his lawyers’ argument that he was an amateur pornographer — not engaging in prostitution — and that the guilty verdict violates his First Amendment rights.

“The government proved its case many times over. That by itself might be enough to dispose of Combs’s challenge,” Subramanian wrote in the 16-page opinion and order.

“Illegal activity can’t be laundered into constitutionally protected activity.”

He called Combs’ filming “incidental,” pointing to trial evidence that showed he didn’t typically give notice or ask for consent for filming, as a film producer would.

Taylor Swift, Luke Combs, Leon Thomas & More

Billboard’s Friday Music Guide serves as a handy guide to this Friday’s most essential releases — the key music that everyone will be talking about today, and that will be dominating playlists this weekend and beyond.

Explore

See latest videos, charts and news

This week, Luke Combs is feeling wistful, Leon Thomas is feeling vindictive, and of course, the most anticipated pop release of the entire year is finally upon us. Check out all of this week’s picks below:

Taylor Swift, The Life of a Showgirl

Yes, Taylor Swift‘s finally back doing big pop, and yes she’s got Max Martin and Shellback in tow again — but 1989, Pt. 2 this ain’t. The Life of a Showgirl has some of the big drums and plenty of the big hooks of this trio’s extended collaboration a decade earlier, but the songwriting and sonic palette are both updated for the mid-2020s, with many tracks based around an organic-skewing pop-rock sound more reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac than Forever Your Girl. Plenty of its songs seem destined to impact on a similar scale though: “Actually Romantic” and “Wood” will be the headline-grabbers for their provocative subject matters, but “Ruin the Friendship” and “Eldest Daughter” may end up the fan favorites for their personal lyrics and wistful melodies.

Luke Combs, “Days Like These”

“When the sky is blue/ And the grass is green/ How much better can it be?” Luke Combs has always had a knack for expressing simple lyrical sentiments as profound truths — particularly when he relies on the power of his voice to carry the song, rather than dulling it with radio-ready overproduction. “Days Like These” features just Combs and an acoustic guitar singing this ode to the core pleasures that make up life — and you can bet country radio will still find it absolutely undeniable.

Leon Thomas, “Just How You Are”

Despite the title’s similarity to classic pop love songs from Billy Joel and Bruno Mars, don’t expect Leon Thomas in a sentimental mood on his new single. “I wrote all these songs about you/ And you never even said a word/ Not even just to say you heard/ I guess ‘congrats’ is your least favorite word,” the R&B singer-songwriter seethes over an airtight soul-funk groove. The wedding ballads can wait; this nasty jam should still get the dancefloor packed in the meantime.

Louis Tomlinson, “Lemonade”

We haven’t heard much from Louis Tomlinson since 2022’s Fate in the Future, but in September he announced he’d be back with the full-length How Did I Get Here? in January 2026. The first taste of that record was delivered this week with lead single “Lemonade,” in which Tomlinson does his best Adam Lambert strut over a muscular disco-rock bounce. No one’s going to be bringing the chorus (“She’s so bitter/ She’s so sweet/ Lemonade”) into Language Arts class anytime soon, but there’s never been a song called “Lemonade” that wasn’t mostly irresistible, and this one is no exception.

Kali Uchis feat. Mariah the Scientist, “Pretty Promises”

After teaming up for one of the year’s most sublime collabs with “Is It a Crime?” from Mariah the Scientist‘s Hearts Sold Separately album, it’s time for Kali Uchis to play host on the deluxe edition of her 2024 LP Sincerely, entitled Sincerely: P.S. The two reconvene for the equally lovely “Pretty Promises,” as the two swear that their word is bond over an underwater groove that they swim around like mermaids. If these are gonna be the results every time this duo teams up, they should really start thinking about doing a full album together.

Fred again.. & Amyl and the Sniffers, “You’re a Star”

Of all the artists you might expect producer phenomenon Fred again.. to team up with for one of his overwhelmingly emotional dancefloor anthems, Australian indie-punk band Amyl and the Sniffers would probably be fairly low on the list, if it made the cut at all. But sure enough, the artist born Frederick John Philip Gibson enlisted Amy Taylor and company for his drum n’ bass-inflected latest single, harnessing the group’s energy and then exploding it with Gesaffelstein-like sirens and typically all-over-the-place vocal triggers. Unexpected but effective — and that’s why he’s a star.

Sean Combs Asks for Lighter Prison Sentence in Personal Letter

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Sean Combs made a last-ditch plea for leniency in a personal letter written to a federal judge on Thursday ahead of his Friday sentencing on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs wrote that he has been humbled by his time spent in prison while awaiting sentencing, saying he’s been “working diligently to become the best version of myself.”

“Today, I humbly ask you for another chance — another chance to be a better father, another chance to be a better son, another chance to be a better leader in my community, and another chance to live a better life,” Combs wrote in the four-page letter obtained by Rolling Stone. “I am writing this not to gain any sympathy or pity, this experience is simply the truth of my existence and has changed my life forever and I will never commit a crime again.”

Combs, who said he’s sober “for the first time in 25 years,” continued, “This has been the hardest two years of my life, and I have no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself.”

Combs, 55, has spent more than a year in federal custody after his September 2024 arrest in the felony case. On July 2, a jury convicted him of the two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Jurors rejected a trio of more serious charges, finding that prosecutors failed to prove Combs ran a racketeering conspiracy or sex trafficked two former girlfriends. The acquittals meant Combs was no longer facing the possibility of life in prison. At the time, the mogul pumped his fist and dropped to his knees as he celebrated in the courtroom.

“In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I am no longer running from them,” he wrote. “I am so sorry for the hurt that I caused, but I understand that the mere words ‘I’m sorry’ will never be good enough as these words alone cannot erase the pain from the past,” he wrote.

In a sentencing letter filed last week, Combs’ defense asked for no more than 14 months in prison, arguing his conviction did not involve a “profit motive” or any “brothels, pimps, or minors.” Prosecutors, meanwhile, asked for a sentence of 11 years and three months in custody, arguing an “unrepentant” Combs committed his crimes while subjecting his ex-girlfriends to “violence, coercion, and abuse.” For their part, federal probation officials have recommended a sentence of about six to seven years in prison.

Editor’s picks

Combs is facing a maximum possible sentence of 20 years, considering each of his two Mann Act convictions carries up to 10 years. U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian will have wide latitude to issue whatever sentence he sees fit up to that maximum. In a series of rulings on motions brought by Combs after his conviction, Judge Subramanian has been stern. He denied multiple requests from the defense to get Combs out of custody pending sentencing, and in a 16-page ruling Tuesday, he rejected a motion asking him to either vacate the jury’s convictions or order a new trial on the two Mann Act charges only. Combs and his lawyers argued in part that he was an amateur porn producer whose freak-off sessions and videos were protected by his First Amendment rights.

“At some point, illegal activity can’t be laundered into constitutionally protected activity just by the desire to watch it,” the judge wrote in his ruling. “Combs’s conduct goes far beyond that point. Evidence at trial showed that when Combs filmed, he didn’t typically give notice ahead of time or ask for consent, as a film producer would; and that he masturbated, suggesting that the purpose was his immediate sexual gratification.”

Ahead of his sentencing, Combs also submitted letters from scores of supporters asking for mercy for the music mogul. One letter submitted late Wednesday was from Gina Huynh, the Combs ex-girlfriend who previously told gossip vlogger Tasha K that Combs shoved her to the ground and dragged her by her hair in 2018. She said he also “stomped” on her stomach in a jealous rage.

Related Content

Huynh wrote in her letter that she cooperated with prosecutors leading up to the trial and was identified as Victim-3 in court filings. She claimed she was willing to testify, but suggested prosecutors decided not to call her. Huynh said that during her meetings with prosecutors, she felt “pressured to feel like a victim.” She said her “truth” was something different.

“I understand they concluded that I had been sex trafficked and involved in ‘forced prostitution.’ I did not agree with that conclusion. I was not trafficked. I did not engage in prostitution with him or others. That would have been my testimony if called to the stand,” she wrote. “I want to emphasize that I understand the seriousness of this case and the pain others may feel. I cannot speak for anyone but myself. In terms of sentencing, I kindly ask that you consider releasing him back to his family.”

In a victim impact letter submitted to the court by prosecutors late Monday, Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, identified as Victim-1 in Combs’ indictment, pleaded for a substantial sentence. She said Combs beat and threatened her throughout their decade-long relationship, and forced her into voyeuristic, drug-fueled sex marathons with male escorts almost weekly.

Trending Stories

“I was forced into lingerie and heels, told exactly how to look, and plied with drugs and alcohol so he could control me like a puppet. These events were degrading and disgusting, leaving me with infections, illnesses, and days of physical and emotional exhaustion before he demanded it all again. Sex acts became my full-time job, used as the only way to stay in his good graces,” Ventura wrote.

Ventura said that she still suffers from “nightmares and flashbacks” and continues to “require psychological care to cope” with her past. She wrote that she still worries that Combs or his associates will come after her and her family. Ventura added that although her family has moved out of the New York area, she keeps “as private and quiet as I possibly can because I am so scared that if he walks free, his first actions will be swift retribution towards me and others who spoke up about his abuse at trial.”

Janice Smalls Combs, mother of Sean “Diddy” Combs, just dodged a major legal bullet. A federal judge in California has tossed the $33,000,000 lawsuit filed against her, giving the Combs family a little breathing room ahead of Diddy’s sentencing.

The suit originated from Deon Best, also known as “D1,” who claimed that Ms. Combs violated the RICO Act and leveled a series of state law allegations that also brought Diddy into the mix. Best, who runs Finish Line Entertainment and Dee Mac Music, sought damages over alleged disputes tied to his business dealings.

However, on Friday (Sept. 19), Judge Percy Anderson ruled in the 84-year-old’s favor. The federal RICO claims were dismissed with prejudice, meaning Best cannot refile in federal court. The state law claims, however, were dismissed without prejudice, leaving a window for Best to pursue her in state court again.

D1’s lawsuit, initially filed in January 2025, claimed Ms. Combs orchestrated a scheme to take his intellectual property, royalties, and publishing revenues. He also alleged she used her influence to seize his rights, causing him both financial and emotional damage. The dispute centered on the song “Come with Me,” from the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack track which D1 says he “controlled, owned, produced and/or created.”

He accused Ms. Combs of obtaining it through illegal means, alleging that she had committed fraud, forgery, and hid records. D1 claimed he only discovered her alleged “hijacking of artist publishing” in late 2023.

Neither Janice nor D1 have spoken publicly about the ruling, but for now, the case is officially closed, giving Janice some relief from what could have been an even messier legal battle.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Sued by Stylist Who Testified Against Him

Four months after testifying at Sean Combs’ criminal trial in New York, celebrity stylist Deonte Nash has filed a lawsuit alleging that the music mogul trapped him in a “dark world” of repeated sexual battery, physical assault, stalking, and threats that turned his childhood dream of working in the entertainment industry into “a nightmare.”

In a complaint filed Wednesday in Los Angeles, Nash claims Combs pinched his nipples, groped his buttocks, grinded on his groin, and once forced his hand onto Combs’ penis while Nash worked for Combs and his former girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura between 2008 and 2018.

Echoing his testimony from the third week of Combs’ New York trial, Nash says Combs also subjected him to violent physical assaults. He claims Combs became enraged and “severely strangled” him in 2013 when he tried to stop Combs from beating Ventura bloody inside her apartment. Nash says when he tried to call the police, Combs intervened, causing him to “imminently fear for his life.” In another incident in 2013 or 2014, Combs allegedly drove to a set where Ventura was filming a music video and attacked Nash again, fuming over his discovery that Nash and Ventura had gone out to dinner the night before. Combs “threw [Nash] up onto the car and violently strangled him,” the lawsuit says. (In his testimony, Nash told jurors he was smoking a cigarette when Combs appeared out of nowhere and “started choking me out.”)

Nash claims threats, intimidation, and “psychological manipulation” were pervasive during his tenure as well. He says once in 2014, Combs grabbed and slapped him in the back of his head as a frightened Ventura tried to escape another “outburst” by climbing out a window. He says Combs and a driver then chased him on a freeway, pursuing him at nearly 100 mph, leaving him “terrified.” He alleges Combs “bragged about violently retaliating against people that had turned against him,” and that Combs’ employees “knew” their boss had “guns and weapons around.”

“After enduring years of abuse, I finally found the courage during the criminal trial, and I am now ready to take action,” Nash said in a statement shared with Rolling Stone. “Sean Combs has never taken accountability for the years of harm he inflicted on me and so many others. Today, I am free from the confinement his abuse imposed, and I have reclaimed my voice. It is time for the world to confront the truth about the horrific abuse I endured and the lasting impact of Mr. Combs’ actions on my life. His abuse has consistently affected every part of my life, from my personal well-being to my career, and the damage cannot be ignored. I am reclaiming my story and demanding the justice I deserve.”

Attempts to reach a spokesperson for Combs were not immediately successful early Wednesday. He and his lawyers previously denied allegations of sexual misconduct in an onslaught of prior lawsuits, saying, “Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone — man or woman, adult or minor.”

Nash says in the new lawsuit that he was too afraid to step forward before he was “forced” to testify at Combs’ trial through a subpoena. During two days of testimony, the fashion stylist walked jurors through the dramatic incident at Ventura’s apartment in 2013. He said Combs went on a rampage as Nash was helping Ventura pack for a trip. In her own testimony, Ventura said Combs berated her for sleeping too long and hurled her into the corner of her bedframe, causing a “pretty significant gash” near her eyebrow that bled profusely and required stitches.

Nash testified that Combs was so out of control that day, he jumped on the Bad Boy Entertainment founder’s back to stop him. “He threw me off,” Nash testified. “[He] continued to hit Cassie until her head hit the edge of the bed frame. … When he noticed the blood, he just panicked.”

At his trial, Combs, 55, was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted of the more serious charges of felony racketeering and the alleged sex trafficking of Ventura and another ex-girlfriend who testified under a pseudonym. His defense lawyer, Mark Agnifilo, said during his closing argument that Combs took responsibility for the allegations of domestic violence raised by Ventura. “We own it. It happened,” Agnifilo told the panel on June 27. “If he was charged with domestic violence, we wouldn’t all be here having a trial, because he would have pled guilty – because he did that.”

Nash’s lawsuit expands beyond his trial testimony to give detailed accounts of the instances where Combs allegedly sexually assaulted or battered him. He claims Combs exposed his penis and approached him during a party in 2013 or 2014, and then, about a year later, pinched his nipples without consent after cornering him in a bathroom in Las Vegas. He alleges that another time in August 2016, Combs “forcibly” grabbed his hand and forced it onto the mogul’s penis while Combs was wearing only underwear and laughing. When Nash tried to walk away, he says, Combs grabbed his buttocks and stuck his tongue out in a sexual manner.

Combs purportedly grabbed Nash’s buttocks again during a Bad Boy Reunion Tour party in Los Angeles in 2017, saying, “You need to be out there slangin’ that dick baby,” according to the lawsuit. “Mr. Nash jumped and was in shock because he felt Combs’ fingers squeeze his butt,” the filing states. Nash claims that in 2018, during a fitting with Ventura at a townhouse in New York City, Combs “grinded” on Nash’s genital area in a sexually charged way. “This is how I make love to my lady,” Combs allegedly said at the time, leaving Nash feeling “violated and offended.”

“Combs sexually assaulted Mr. Nash in this manner over and over for more than a decade,” the lawsuit filed by lawyers Brett Schreiber, Meagan Verschueren, Katie Llamas, and Kristina Aiad-Toss alleges. The lawsuit claims Combs was “obsessed” with Nash’s homosexuality, bringing it up constantly. “Degrading comments about Mr. Nash’s homosexuality were a way Combs manipulated and controlled him,” it states. “He used it as a sword in [an] attempt to demean or belittle Mr. Nash as if being gay was something that Mr. Nash should be ashamed of – or that Mr. Nash was inferior because Mr. Nash did not conceal his sexuality.”

The lawsuit lists claims for human trafficking, assault, battery, sexual battery, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment, gender violence, sexual orientation violence, and destructive discharge, meaning Combs allegedly created such toxic working conditions that Nash was forced to resign. It names several of Combs’ companies, including Bad Boy Entertainment and Combs Global, as co-defendants.

“Combs used his power and threats of harm to compel Mr. Nash to do his bidding and prevent him from leaving defendants’ control. Even after his employment ended, threats continued, and Mr. Nash has not felt safe, even to this day,” the lawsuit states. “Though defendants have silenced him for years, Mr. Nash is no longer willing to give in to this fear for his life and is now standing up to demand justice.”

Combs is currently in federal custody in New York, awaiting his sentencing on Oct. 3. He’s also facing dozens of civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, though Combs has challenged many as being too old for the courts to bother considering their merits.

In a recent ruling, a federal judge permanently dismissed 21 of the 22 causes of action brought by Making the Band 2 contestant Sara Rivers in a lengthy $60 million racketeering lawsuit filed in February. The judge signaled he also planned to dismiss the final remaining cause of action alleging Combs sexually assaulted Rivers at his recording studio in the early aughts, but he’s waiting for an appeals court decision on whether the claim-revival window opened under New York City’s Gender Motivated Violence Protection Act was legally allowed to remain open after New York’s Adult Survivors Act, a statewide statute, closed its window for otherwise time-barred sexual misconduct claims.

Rivers is appealing the judge’s decision.

Sean Combs Asks for 14-Month Prison Sentence, Cites Addiction Struggle

Sean Combs made a plea for “fairness” ahead of his Oct. 3 sentencing, arguing in a new brief that he deserves no more than 14 months in prison for his two felony convictions for transportation to engage in prostitution.

In the 182-page sentencing memo submitted Monday shortly before the midnight deadline, Combs’ lawyers laid out his life story in an apparent bid for mercy, saying Combs struggled as a child after his father was murdered when he was only three years old. They argued the loss caused a “profound form of trauma” that set the stage for the substance abuse issues Combs wrestled with during his admittedly violent relationships with the two ex-girlfriends involved in his convictions.

“For decades, Mr. Combs struggled with serious substance abuse issues, anger and anxiety, and other flaws that he did not properly or professionally address until his incarceration last year,” the filing obtained by Rolling Stone stated. “Like every addict, his behavior while on painkillers was erratic and unpredictable, and often the reason behind any assaults discussed at the trial.”

His lawyers also attached more than 75 letters of support from family and friends, including Combs’ mother Janice; his sister Keisha; his three teen daughters, Chance, Jessie and D’Lila; and Dana Tran, the mother of Comb’s two-year-old daughter, Love.

Combs, 55, was convicted of the two felony counts on July 2 after a nine-week trial.

The two prostitution charges, violations of a century-old law known as the Mann Act, each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. For their part, prosecutors previously estimated Combs’ sentencing guidelines range was around four to five years behind bars. Their formal recommendation could be much higher when they file their separate sentencing brief due Sept. 29.

Combs, who has served a year in custody, argued in his filing that a review of more than 60 other Mann Act cases determined that the average sentence was 14.9 months of incarceration. Combs and his lawyers claimed it would be “unlawful and a perversion of justice” if the court increases the sentence beyond 14 months based on “the court’s own findings about force or coercion or racketeering.”

Federal judges aren’t required to follow guidelines. In the Southern District of New York, judges stuck to guideline ranges 34.5 percent of the time in the last fiscal year, according to the U.S. Sentencing Commission.

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian will have wide latitude at the Oct. 3 sentencing, and it’s not clear how he’ll rule. But on the day of the verdict, when many speculated that Combs’ acquittal on the top charges would lead to his immediate release on bail pending sentencing, Judge Subramanian took a hard line. He denied the release on the basis that Combs’ defense admitted during trial that Combs was violent with his ex-partner Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, and a more recent ex-girlfriend who testified under the pseudonym Jane. In his closing argument, lead defense lawyer Mark Agnifilo explicitly told jurors that the defense wasn’t challenging the women’s claims of domestic violence.

“In terms of owning, just as a matter of personal responsibility … owning the domestic violence, we own it. It happened,” Agnifilo told the panel in his final address on June 27. “If he was charged with domestic violence, we wouldn’t all be here having a trial, because he would have pled guilty – because he did that.”

Rejecting the defense bid for immediate bail on July 2, Subramanian pointed to the disturbing video of Combs’ 2016 assault of Ventura inside L.A.’s now-shuttered InterContinental Hotel before sending a seemingly stunned Combs back into custody. Taking a serious tone, Subramanian also noted the video wasn’t the only violence acknowledged by the defense. He pointed to the days Ventura spent at the London Hotel in Los Angeles to recover after Combs allegedly stomped on her face in a vehicle. (“Obviously, there was some physical event, and she had injuries, okay? So she goes to the hotel as much for her own good as anyone else’s,” Agnifilo told jurors about the fight that landed Ventura at the London Hotel.)

“This type of violence, which happens behind closed doors in personal relationships, sparked by unpredictable bouts of anger, is impossible to police with conditions,” the judge said July 2. Turning to the June 2024 incident at Jane’s house, where, according to Agnifilo, Combs admittedly kicked Jane and restrained her “around the neck” during a blowout fight, the judge called out the timing. He noted the incident came after Combs’ homes were raided by federal authorities in March 2024. “At a time when [Combs] should have known that he needed to stay clean,” the mogul instead showed “a disregard for the rule of law and the propensity for violence,” the judge said.

Combs has been held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) since his arrest last September. In a separate motion set for a hearing later this week, Combs is asking that his conviction be set aside as a matter of law or that he be retried on the prostitution charges alone.

In its written opposition, filed Aug. 20, federal prosecutors alleged Combs’ motion should fail because there was “ample evidence to support the jury’s conviction.” They said Combs transported Ventura, Jane, and multiple male commercial sex workers to engage in threesomes, variously dubbed “freak offs” and “hotel nights,” that he stage-directed and often recorded.

“The defendant masterminded every aspect of freak offs. He transported escorts across state lines to engage in freak offs for pay. He directed the sexual activity of escorts and victims throughout freak offs for his own sexual gratification. And he personally engaged in sexual activity during freak offs,” they wrote. “While the defendant may wish to cabin his participation to mere voyeurism, he was, in reality, an active participant in the sexual activity.”

Prosecutors blasted Combs’ claims that he was an amateur porn producer who should be protected by the First Amendment. “Far from acting like an adult film producer or director, the defendant did not provide advance notice that he may film the sexual encounter and did not seek consent from the participants to be filmed,” they wrote in their Aug. 20 filing. “In fact, multiple participants specifically did not want to be filmed.”
