Rosalia and Latin Mafia: Are They Collaborating Next?

Rosalia and Latin Mafia: Are They Collaborating Next?

The Spanish singer is getting ready to drop her album Lux, which features Yahritza, Bjork, Yves Tumor, and more

There could be a collaboration in the works between two of the most avant-garde acts in Spanish-language music. After previously declaring herself a fan of Latin Mafia, Rosalía recently spent a wild night in Mexico City with the genre-bending trio.

In August, Rolling Stone caught up with Latin Mafia and during the chat, the de la Rosa brothers mentioned Rosalía as an artist that they would love to collaborate with in the future. A few days later, the Spanish pop star said in an Ask Me Anything with Elle that she would include Latin Mafia in a dream music festival line-up. After mentioning each other in interviews, Latin Mafia and Rosalía’s worlds finally collided last week.

Trending Stories

While Rosalía was in Mexico City on Oct. 29 hosting a listening session for her upcoming album Lux, she ended up partying with Latin Mafia. The Motomami hit-maker broadcast most of the evening’s festivities to her fans on TikTok live: Rosalía and Latin Mafia first enjoyed a drag show with Jenni Rivera and Juan Gabriel impersonators. As Rivera, La Más Draga star Deborah La Grande poured a bottle of tequila into Rosalía’s mouth.

The night culminated at La Casa De Toño where Rosalía enjoyed local Mexican food like pozole and enfrijoladas with Latin Mafia. After the late night meal, Milton of Latin Mafia gifted Rosalía a necklace that included a pendant of the Virgin of Guadalupe. She later wrote Lux on his arm, so that he could get it tattooed. Though Latin Mafia don’t feature on Lux album, after this surprising hang in CDMX, there’s a strong chance that they might join forces in the studio very soon.

Teddy Swims Recounts Collaborating With His ‘Heroes’ The Wiggles

Stadium shows, records set on the Billboard charts, awards. All of it, nice. But for Teddy Swims, the moment he knew he’d really “made it” was when he collaborated with The Wiggles.

No lie. Swims is at the back-end of an action-packed tour of Australia and New Zealand, during which he performed at the NRL Grand Final, delivered a keynote at SXSW Sydney, and, yes, performed on stage with The Wiggles.

This morning, Swims stopped by Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren for a chat about the land Down Under, his tattoo obsession, and realizing his dream as an unofficial Wiggle.

The Wiggles joined Teddy Swims onstage during his concert at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Oct. 15, for a medley of “Rock-A-Bye Your Bear,” “Hot Potato” and “Fruit Salad.”

“Yeah, that was the coolest thing ever,” he remarks. “So, I reached out to them years ago when I first started coming up on Instagram, because they’re really my heroes growing up, and always wanted to collab with them. And so I reached out to them, like, ‘you’re my heroes. I love you’.”

Fortune smiled on Swims as he greeted the children’s entertainers backstage on the Today Show, ahead of the Oct. 5 rugby league finale.

“I met them in the hallway, and they were like, ‘you want to play ‘Fruit Salad’ with us?’ And I was like, ‘oh my god!’… I was absolutely starstruck.”

Swims played his cards right and asked The Wiggles to join him at a show, which they did.

“Oh dude, it was so sick,” he recounts. “We did this whole three song medley, and the whole band was involved. It was the coolest thing ever. I think it was, like, I even said it afterwards, that was my ‘made it’ moment for me.”

Swims has some serious runs on the board. He made history in July when “Lose Control” became the first song in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to spend triple-digit weeks on the chart, as it reached its milestone 100th frame. The next best is Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves,” which logged 91 weeks on the tally in 2021-22.

The Atlanta-born singer’s blend of R&B, country and soul has seen him fly high on Australia’s charts, too. In January, Swims’ I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2) opened at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, while “Lose Control” went to No. 4 on the national singles survey.

Speaking on Australian breakfast radio, Swims admitted he’s “running out of space” for new ink, but there are countless blank canvases among his pals.

“Right before my son was born,” he notes, “I was trying to take a couple months off the booze and so we’d always have kind of party after the show in the green room and stuff, there’s so many people. So I was like, instead of fighting the urge to drink, I could just pull the tattoo machine out and all the drunks would just let me tattoo them.”

Swims’ I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy Tour of Australasia continues tonight, Oct. 23 with the second of three dates at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. Matt Corby is the support act and Frontier Touring is producing the trek, which ends Oct. 29 with a sold out concert at Perth’s RAC Arena.

Labubu Is Turning 10! To Celebrate, Its Creator Kasing Lung Is Collaborating With Moynat

They’re everywhere: You see them in the subway, on the streets, all over your social media feeds, and even in our street style galleries. They’re at the US Open with Naomi Osaka and on tour with pop superstar Lisa. From high-brow fashion folk to your colleagues’ toddlers and even your adult friends themselves—everyone’s succumbed to the beguiling, mischievous little creature known as Labubu, the monster toy popularized as a bag charm earlier this year. Now, you can find Labubu not just hanging from your accessories, but on the accessories themselves: Labubu creator Kasing Lung has partnered with French luxury trunkmaker Moynat to release a special capsule collection.

For those new to the Labubu craze—the creature has been something of a cult figure in Asia for a few years now—here’s one thing you should know: Labubu has siblings. Inspired by Nordic folklore, Lung created the character 10 years ago in 2015 with a trilogy of books under the franchise Monsters, which eventually gave way to an entire universe of products, from books and prints to toys and figurines, including the beloved Labubu figurines that have become so omnipresent these days.

“I will tell you, I never imagined that this would happen,” offered Lung, calling in from Hong Kong, about the ongoing Labubu craze. “The starting point of The Monsters was the story, I wanted to make a picture book about different kinds of monsters, my fans loved it, and then year after year it became more serious,” he said. “But what’s most important to me is that the project is about storytelling, that is what I’m working on with Moynat as well, about telling a story. I like to have my paintings on the bags because I want to tell stories with my painting.”

The capsule features Labubu and its siblings, Zimomo and King Mon, all on black monogram coated canvas tote bags and mini trunks. They also appear as all-over prints on leather handbags and two passport holders. Labubu specifically turns up exclusively on the small leather goods, primarily on colorful bag charms that see him rendered with the Moynat monogram all over its body.

The partnership with Moynat marks the first time Lung has opened up The Monsters to a Western luxury label. (Pronounce, the independent Shanghai-based label, has an ongoing collaboration with PopMart and Labubu—as I write this I can see a purple edition of the toy hanging from a colleague’s handbag at the Vogue offices.) “My fans, everyday they leave a message on Instagram or [via] email asking about The Monsters,” Lung said. “The question they ask the most is when we were working with a luxury brand.”

The capsule is being announced today, but will become available from October 11 in Shanghai. It will then embark on a world tour, landing in Paris during Art Basel from October 21st with further stops in Taipei in November and Hong Kong in December. It will then arrive in the US in early 2025. Did you think that the Moynat Labubu would be easier to get than the perennially sold-out figurine? Think again!
