Tool, My Chemical Romance, Shinedown and Bring Me the Horizon will headline the next Sonic Temple festival at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Oh., which will take place May 14-17. Pierce the Veil, Breaking Benjamin, the Offspring, Staind, Good Charlotte, Godsmack and Megadeth will further anchor the bill.

Sonic Temple drew 175,000 fans to this year’s event, after which promoter Danny Wimmer Presents extended its partnership with the venue through 2030. Click here for tickets.

The lineup will be rounded out by Lamb of God, All Time Low, Public Enemy, Coheed & Cambria, Black Label Society, Tom Morello, Anthrax, DragonForce, Coal Chamber, the Darkness, Alter Bridge, Sublime, Hawthorne Heights, and Simple Plan, among dozens of others.

Beyond the music, American painter Terry Urban and Bob’s Burgers creator Jay Howell will create installations throughout the grounds, while the Caduceus Wine Garden will offer selections from such purveyors as Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan’s Merkin Vineyards.

For My Chemical Romance, whose summer stadium tour drew an average of 45,000 per night, Sonic Temple will be one of three Danny Wimmer Presents festivals the band plays in 2026, including Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Louder Than Life in Louisville, Ky.

My Chemical Romance Set For Major 2026 Festivals

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

My Chemical Romance will perform at three major U.S. festivals next year promoted by Danny Wimmer Presents, including Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Fl., Sonic Temple in Columbus, Oh., and Louder Than Life on a September date to be announced in Louisville, Ky.

The news was conveyed via the main stage video screens at Louder Than Life on Friday, which was followed by a performance of My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade” by the Louisville Cardinal Marching Band.

Welcome to Rockville will take place May 7-10, with Sonic Temple set for the weekend after. My Chemical Romance’s 2025 roadwork, featuring a performance of their beloved 2006 genre classic The Black Parade in its entirety, concluded yesterday at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees festival. The group will visit South America, Asia and the United Kingdom next year, beginning Jan. 25 in Lima, Peru.

In June, the Gerard Way-led band reissued their 2004 sophomore effort, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge as a remixed and remastered deluxe edition on CD, digital and multiple vinyl variants.

My Chemical Romance to Headline 2026 Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life Fests

My Chemical Romance will be among the headliners at the 2026 Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple, and Louder Than Life festivals. The announcement was made by promoter Danny Wimmer Presents on Friday (September 19th) at this year’s Louder Than Life fest currently happening in Louisville, Kentucky.

Welcome to Rockville is set to take place May 7th-10th in Daytona Beach, Florida; Sonic Temple is slated for May 14th-17th in Columbus, Ohio, and has already revealed Coheed and Cambria, Dance Gavin Dance, Chiodos, Atreyu, Senses Fail, and Hawthorne Heights on its 2026 bill, with MCR adding to the emo flavor thus far. The exact dates for next year’s Louder Than Life haven’t been revealed yet, but fans can expect it to be around this same time in September.

The MCR announcement was revealed at Louder Than Life in a hype video of MCR performing, ending with text that read, “YOUR 2026 HEADLINER: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE,” accompanied by the logos for Louder Than Life, Welcome to Rockville, and Sonic Temple. That was followed by the University of Louisville Cardinal Marching Band performing “Welcome to the Black Parade” on the main stage (see below).

In recent days, My Chemical Romance have been teasing fans with billboards and street stencils in New York City, Minneapolis, Detroit, and other towns, suggesting a summer 2026 leg of their “Long Live The Black Parade Tour.” None of those dates have been confirmed as of yet.

Stay tuned as more of MCR’s 2026 tour plans, as well as additional headliners of the aforementioned festivals, are announced in the coming weeks and months.

My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade Tour” Is a True Emo Arena Spectacle: Review

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

My Chemical Romance has always had a penchant for theater. Really, it more or less comes with their brand of wildly popular, larger than life emo rock. From their visual aesthetic to their high-concept ideas to the quiver of frontman Gerard Way’s voice, MCR’s popularity in no small part comes from their willingness to throw themselves into angsty, story-driven melodrama, and they perhaps never did it better than on their seminal 2006 rock opera The Black Parade. Cold take, I know, but as their latest run of concerts, the “Long Live: The Black Parade Tour,” proves, the record and all of its accompanying theatrics still resonate 20 years later.

The ongoing tour, which included Friday night’s stop at Chicago’s Soldier Field, isn’t the first time My Chemical Romance has undergone a Sgt. Pepper-esque transformation into “The Black Parade.” Following the album’s initial release, the band embarked on a jaunt that saw them embrace the moniker and perform the record in full. Though “The Black Parade” was canonically killed off at the end of that tour, MCR brought the concept back post-reunion for a pair of headlining sets at the When We Were Young music festival in 2024. As they bring their fictional counterparts back in 2025 for a series of select shows at baseball and football stadiums around the country, they’re following a similar structure, ripping through The Black Parade top-to-bottom before a second mini-set of songs from the rest of their catalog.

How does such a performance fare in 2025? Remarkably well, actually, thanks to the production value and sheer spectacle of the whole ordeal.

As MCR makes their way through the 13 tracks of The Black Parade (plus a reprise of “The End.” and a pre-recorded playback of the album’s hidden track “Blood”), a loose narrative with themes of fascism, rebellion, and (you guessed it) death plays out in the background. There are choreographed set pieces in between songs, non-band characters like guest opera singers and ever-present dictators who sit in the audience, parodies of propagandistic media, and, by the end, plenty of pyrotechnics.

Then there’s the headline-making, audience interaction element: the execution by vote. Admittedly, it’s a pretty fun gimmick made all the better by Way’s over-the-top, inconsistently-accented protagonist. For Chicago specifically, there seemed to be some issue when it came to distributing the red and black placards throughout the massive stadium. (I, on the other hand, somehow ended up with a full stack of them — there’s a metaphor about the state of democracy in there somewhere…) Luckily, though, the band was able to improvise their way out of any awkward moments, resulting in no cracks in the show’s immersion.

By the end, Way’s attempts to break out of whatever system he’s trapped within fail, as he’s eventually stabbed to death while the rest of the band is ransacked. Brutal stuff, but what else could a fan expect from The Black Parade themselves?
