King Charles has saved the World Conker Championships (WCC).

King Charles has saved the World Conker Championship

Organisers were concerned the contest would be called off after collectors reported a shortage of large, competition-standard horse chestnuts, but they have received a package of more than 300 “really good quality” conkers from Windsor Castle, meaning the 60th anniversary tournament can go ahead.

St John Burkett, a championship committee member, told The Telegraph: “It was a real joy to have conkers sent to us this time.

“The Windsor Castle delivery was of really good quality. They were fantastic, they were the ones that really ensured we could go ahead.”

The package from Windsor Castle had been “picked from the castle grounds and sent via the public relations department”.

St John added: “Intriguingly, we don’t know who picked them, but like to imagine it might have been the King, at least for a few.

“We are extremely grateful, and can already say a conker from Royal Windsor will win the final, as we have reserved them to be used in the finals.”

Conkers have also been imported from France and Italy for the competition.

Organiser Charles Whalley said: “We’ve just had conkers from everywhere. It’s been quite extraordinary.

“It just sort of sums up the love for the championships. We’ve had them from all over Europe, Italy and France.

“We’ve just had so many emails from people offering conkers, saying plenty here, come and get them, or we can send them to you.

“With the support from Europe and what’s left in the trees at the moment, we are delighted to say that all is good.”

The annual World Conker Championships (WCC) will be held on Sunday (12.10.25) in Southwick, Northamptonshire and it is expected to have attract around 2,000 spectators.

Last year’s competition was embroiled in controversy after men’s winner David Jakins – who has taken part since 1977 – was accused of swapping his conker for a metal one.

He denied the claims and was cleared of cheating following an investigation, which ruled he had “achieved his title fairly”.

The traditional game sees a horse chestnut threaded onto a piece of string with pairs of contestants taking it in turn to strike each other’s conker until one breaks.

bitchy | Prince William & King Charles stepped out for a pre-COP30 event in London

Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have spent much of the past month trying to convince everyone that King Charles is quite close to his heir, Scooter King/Prince William. They were even up in Scotland at the same time, but as it turns out, Scooter King was on a hunting trip while Charles rested at Birkhall. My point is that we were due a joint appearance to “prove” that Charles and his heir are still on speaking terms. The fact that the photo-op looks very much like a “take your dumb son to work” day is just icing on the cake, as is the fact that once again, the left-behinds rushed around, trying to look busy and important because they knew the Sussexes were scheduled to appear at an event on Thursday.

Charles and Scooter King attended a pre-COP30 event at the Natural History Museum last night. They even traveled to the museum in the same car – there were photos of Charles exiting the car first, and then William following. Charles took the lead, William trailed behind and tried to look interesting (he failed). Charles looked like hell, btw. He did not have a restful, rejuvenating summer break. Notably, neither of their wives bothered to come. Kate begged off, citing something about a gopher and her wig room. Camilla was probably at the bottom of a gin bottle.

At the pre-COP30 event, Charles and William met people from the Brazilian government, because this year’s COP30 conference is being staged in Brazil. William’s Earthshot Prize ceremony is apparently scheduled for November 5 in Rio, and then COP30 starts on November 10 in Belém. KP announced that William will be in Rio from November 3rd through the 5th. The big question is whether William will actually go to Belém and attend any part of the conference. KP claims it’s on his schedule. So… what will Scooter King be doing for five days in between his Earthshot sh-t in Rio and the start of COP30?

bitchy | Piers Morgan: No serious person believes King Charles or Kate are racists

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

This past weekend, the Daily Mail began serializing Piers Morgan’s new book, Woke Is Dead. As you can imagine, the first excerpt was almost exclusively about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are seen by Britain’s right-wing establishment as the most prominent examples of “woke.” (British royalists also know that they have to talk about the Sussexes to sell books.) As I often remarked when Dan Wootton was shrieking and squealing about “woke” back in the day, these people are using “woke” to mean “Black.” That’s all it means to them. That Black people are doing something they don’t like, like existing or thriving or calling out racism. That’s “woke.” Well, even though the Mail put Piers’s book excerpt on their cover, his BS was immediately overshadowed by Meghan stepping out in Paris. Well, as the Meghan-in-Paris story cools down, it’s time to actually figure out wtf Piers is saying.

Piers Morgan said in a new book that he “played a small role in burying the obscene race claims” made by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry about the royal family. In his new book, Woke Is Dead, serialized in the Daily Mail, Morgan said his own decision to name King Charles III as the royal who made the remark and Princess Kate as having been present played a role in “burying” the allegation.

He wrote: “I gladly played a small role in burying the obscene race claims for good when Harry and Meghan’s self-appointed publicist, Omid Scobie, published a gossipy, pro-Sussex book called Endgame in 2023. He boasted that he knew the names of Meghan’s ‘royal racists’ and simply couldn’t use them for legal reasons. But the names appeared in the Dutch edition of Endgame, and I named them live on air in my TV show as King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales. I did that because speculation was raging out of control, dragging the whole royal family across the coals again. But also because, once you know the names, it becomes blindingly obvious just how absurd the accusations are.”

“Whatever your view of the monarchy, I don’t think any serious person really believes that King Charles or the Princess of Wales have a racist bone in their bodies. Judging by the public reaction, this was only the endgame for the royal race-baiters.”

Morgan frames Harry and Meghan’s royal exit as emblematic of what he described as the “woke” era but said the world had now moved on, and if the couple’s Oprah Winfrey interview were given today, it would be received differently.

“There is no doubt the royal family has taken a battering,” he wrote, “not least a five-year onslaught from Prince Harry and Princess Pinocchio, the Sussex separatists, who attacked the institution as a cruel and racist anachronism. In my view, they did so just to boost their own brand. But the monarchy under King Charles is doing what monarchy does – enduring, calmly above the fray. Brand Sussex, meanwhile, is now about as popular as Ebola. When I denounced their infamous whine-a-thon interview with Oprah Winfrey, the MyTruth pioneer, in 2021 and lost my job hosting breakfast television as a result, it came at the very apex of woke insanity.”

“We were in the age of endlessly offended cancel culture, when everybody was assumed guilty until proven innocent, especially on socially sensitive matters like race or mental health. Self-certifying as a victim—as Harry and Meghan so publicly did—meant your truth was gospel. I don’t think the reaction to Harry and Meghan’s damaging allegations about the royal family would be anywhere near as unquestioning and sympathetic if the same interview happened today,” he added. “Riding a woke wave of self-pitying martyrdom may have been the only smart thing the Sussexes have ever done. But waves have to break in the end—and so does the public’s patience with liars.”

[From Newsweek]

Just to be clear, Meghan said (in the Oprah interview) she was suicidal during the worst of the British media’s racist hate campaign against her. Piers Morgan’s immediate reaction was to call her a liar. Meghan didn’t get him fired either – he got himself fired. Meghan spoke to an executive at GMB’s network, and she said that it’s pretty awful for anyone with suicidal ideation for Piers to bloviate about how they’re all liars and no one should believe them. She only spoke to the executive after Piers had spent years smearing her and paying her relatives to recite toxic scripts about her. Piers was still allowed on the air after that, but when Alex Beresford challenged Piers, Piers stormed off the set in a childish huff. THAT is when Piers was fired. I’m including the video below. Instant classic. As for what Piers says about how no one believes that Charles and Kate are galloping racists… lmao. If anything, people are even more convinced that ALL of them said really horrible sh-t to and about Meghan.

bitchy | King Charles is ‘saddened & disappointed’ by Harry calling out palace saboteurs

On Saturday, Prince Harry’s spokesperson clapped back on an exclusive Sun cover story. The story was all about Harry’s September 10th meeting with his father at Clarence House, and how Harry was surprised by the formality of the meeting, etc – go here to read. Someone had given the Sun a big briefing about the meeting and that someone was not Harry. Harry’s statement said that the Sun’s report was “categorically false. The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son.” Tom Sykes, on his Royalist Substack, pointed out that Harry is drawing “a line straight back to the top tier of his father’s household.” Sykes names Clive Alderton (Charles’s private secretary) and Tobyn Andreae (comms secretary) as the main culprits. Sykes says that those two are the most likely to feel “threatened” by a reconciliation between father and son. Well, Buckingham Palace has responded to… Harry’s statement. From a Times exclusive:

The palace has been left “saddened and perplexed” by Prince Harry’s latest claim that the institution is “sabotaging” the relationship with his father, the King.

The Duke of Sussex appeared to accuse courtiers of leaking information about a meeting with his father this month, amid reports that the prince had claimed “men in grey suits”, were responsible.

The news has been met with disappointment by friends of the King.

A royal source said: “The reality is that senior aides have been working behind the scenes to improve what is a delicate but important private family relationship.”

On September 10 the duke saw the King for what was described as “a private tea” at Clarence House. The 50-minute meeting was the first time that the King had met with his younger son for 19 months. Afterwards, the duke appeared relaxed, telling guests at a charity reception in London that his father was “great”.

[From The Times]

This is gaslighting. It’s also yet another example of why this family is so screwed up. There’s absolutely no reason for “senior aides” to work diligently to improve a father’s relationship with his son. That’s between Charles and Harry. It was always between Charles and Harry, despite the efforts of those SAME senior aides working diligently to sow divisions and mistrust between Charles and Harry, which they’re still doing by leaking details of a private meeting to the Sun. Anyway, it sounds more like Charles’s senior aides are “saddened and perplexed” by Harry’s refusal to allow them to lie and sabotage behind-the-scenes.

bitchy | Mail: There’s a conspiracy afoot about King Charles & Prince William’s rift

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Yesterday, the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden claimed there was a dark, malevolent conspiracy afoot in the house of Windsor. That conspiracy? Prince Harry plans to visit the UK more often, which will obviously “undermine” Prince William and Kate, and King Charles is just letting it happen! That’s part of the conspiracy too, that Charles is displeased with his heir, and Charles doesn’t give a sh-t about William’s panic and rage about Harry and Meghan. Eden managed to draw out those conspiratorial observations into high crimes and misdemeanors. Well, Becky English said: wait a minute, there’s something THERE. English followed up Eden’s coverage with this piece, which sounds a lot like Prince William’s courtiers and handlers trying to placate him (while adjusting his meds). Some highlights:

The conspiracy!! If recent events are anything to go by, then something is starting to look more than a little suspect. From sources at the weekend, apparently close to the Sussexes, suggesting Prince Harry might be able to ‘help’ lighten the load of royal engagements, to claims by biographer Tina Brown that King Charles is ‘less irritated’ by his prodigal son than he is by Prince William over his work ethic, there has been a torrent of suggestions about tensions at the top. Indeed, a source close to both the King and the Prince of Wales told me starkly this week: ‘It’s evident there’s an attempt to manufacture division between them, when in reality, no such rift exists. In truth, their relationship is as strong as ever, they are aligned in their work, with many areas of shared interest, and united in their vision for the role of the Royal Family.’

Something calculated is happening: Sometimes a media whisper (that may or may not have a nugget of truth at the heart of it) is whipped up into a cacophony of speculation, particularly online. But there’s now more than a flicker of suspicion in royal circles that something more calculated could be at work. What or who may be behind the conjecture isn’t clear. But it is a worrying turn of events after I revealed earlier this year that Kensington Palace had discovered Russian bots were seeking to disseminate misinformation around the Princess of Wales’s prolonged absence from public life in the run-up to her cancer announcement last year.

William & Charles’s actual relationship: It’s important to acknowledge, in the interests of fairness, that William, 43, and his 76-year-old father have never had the easiest of relationships. No surprise given their complex family history, particularly the breakdown of Charles’s marriage to William’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. Harsh words have been exchanged in the past, angry rows permeating even the thickest castle walls, sometimes within earshot of staff. There have also been clashes of opinion on the professional side, such as the retention of ivory treasures in the Royal Collection (William wants to burn them, Charles believes they should be kept as historical artefacts) which not so long ago resulted in a ‘frank’ exchange.

Windsor men’s quick temper: But really, isn’t that what families can be like? And what bothers you in your 20s or 30s, doesn’t seem quite so important at 40. Particularly given the rollercoaster of the past few years for William, with his younger brother’s very public betrayal and his wife’s shock cancer diagnosis. Similarly the King, who like many Windsor men can have a quick temper, is facing his own health challenges. While he is managing his cancer diagnosis extremely well, I am told, it has, naturally, been hugely challenging at times. And with both age and illness can often come a reassessment of what matters most. While it’s not a phrase he would personally use, the King is more of a proponent of ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’ nowadays, in his own way. ‘Do they [the King and William] sit down for dinner every night, or even see each other every week? No. But they never have,’ a source reminds me. ‘However they do speak regularly and they are in absolute lockstep about the future of the monarchy and the good it can do this country.’

Competitive tensions: Another source adds: ‘Like many father-son relationships, there are occasional personal and competitive tensions. Both are very driven individuals and have very similar interests such as the environment, conservation, the military and helping deprived communities. However, they are also going about supporting them in quite different ways. Does that sometimes bring them into competition with one another? Yes, to be fair, it does. But ultimately they have the same goal: to make life better for the people of this country.’

Why Charles & William rarely do events together: ‘The whole point of having a Prince of Wales with a separate household and funding from the monarch is that they have space and autonomy to try things in a different way,’ a source argues. ‘Sometimes they get things right, sometimes wrong. But even their failures make them a better king when they get there. Don’t forget His Majesty had more than his fair share of ups and downs as heir to the throne.’

Willy’s trip to Balmoral this week: Indeed, I can reveal that they will be both be up in Scotland this week – admittedly staying in different residences (Birkhall for the King and neighbouring Balmoral for William, as is their habit) but they plan to meet and will almost certainly attend church together this Sunday. ‘Scotland is a place they both love,’ my source says.

William’s tough time: And if the King privately feels his son could possibly take up some of the slack on those royal engagements, it’s not something that comes up in conversation. ‘If prioritising his family helps make him [William] a better king, it’s got to be a good investment,’ says one who knows them both. ‘The Prince of Wales has had a universally sh***y time of late… he lost his beloved grandmother, his brother, and has faced terrible heartache with his father and his wife. If this [way of doing things] makes him feel that much more happy and confident when the moment comes and he accedes him to the throne, then that’s something his father supports.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Something to keep in mind, just one week ago, the Mail also published A.N. Wilson’s “what’s eating William” takedown. And when Tina Brown’s Fresh Hell Substack dropped – in which she openly said that Charles is less annoyed with Harry than lazy-ass William – that gave ALL of the British media an opening to publicly discuss what had been common knowledge among royalists. This isn’t a conspiracy, it’s the media starting to acknowledge that all is not well with William in particular. This piece by English is almost entirely based on William’s narrative too, this is damage-control by his office, not Charles’s. This is William “forging” his father’s signature on pity-poor-Willy talking points. “He lost his beloved grandmother, his brother…” Harry is not dead, and it’s disgusting that the only way William can get through the f–king day is by pretending that his brother is dead or a “non-person” or whatever psychotic phrasing they use.

bitchy | Mail: King Charles should give the Sussexes a royal property when they return!

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

This is one of the craziest Daily Mail exclusives, so it feels fitting that this will lead us into yet another weekend full of Paranoid Prince William’s unhinged briefings. You have to admit that the British media is really toying with William in particular. They enjoy having something to hold over his head, which is “the spectre of the Sussexes’ potential return to the UK.” Just so we’re clear, Harry has said many, many times that he has no plan to relocate back to the UK. He is happy in his California mansion with 894 bathrooms. But Harry really does plan to visit the UK, and those tentative plans to visit have led the Daily Mail to speculate about “where will the Sussexes LIVE when they’re in the UK.”

Prince Harry ‘would love’ to spend more time in the UK going forward and has told his delighted father it could even be every few months in 2026, it emerged today. But the Duke of Sussex insists that he will never move back to Britain because ‘he’s genuinely very happy in California’.

In response, King Charles is said to have been ‘absolutely clear’ that his youngest son cannot be a ‘half-in, half-out’ working royal – and Harry is said to swear blind that there is ‘no move’ being made ‘to be back in the institution’.

The monarch desperately wants a relationship with his youngest son – and especially his grandchildren Lilibet and Archie – with insiders claiming Charles may even be willing to offer the Sussexes their own pied-à-terre in Britain.

‘There are plenty of empty properties on the estate. The Royal Family is not exactly short of accommodation at the moment. But I don’t think being next door to William and Kate would go down too well’, a well-connected source told the Daily Mail.

Whether Meghan would come appears much less likely. And if she did, the duchess would probably prefer a place in the celeb-heavy Cotswolds as their UK base, away from royal eyes, it is said. An insider said of Meghan: ‘I’d say the Cotswolds would be somewhere they might look if they were thinking about a home outside the royal estate’.

Harry is said to swear blind that there is ‘no move’ being made by him ‘to be back in the institution’.

‘His wife and kids are there; his life is there’, a Sussex insider has claimed when asked about leaving Montecito.

Harry’s father will likely have told him that if he stays at a royal palace such Kensington Palace or Windsor Castle they will be automatically guarded by armed officers, including at Frogmore Cottage. If Charles formally invites the Sussexes to stay with him armed taxpayer-funded security will likely be reinstated from the moment they land because they would be his guests, multiple security sources have said. And Harry might be tempted to stay at a royal home as long as he manages to avoid his brother and sister-in-law, the source added.

‘Security is obviously still a big issue for the Sussexes. So stays within the occupied Royal Palaces estate would make sense because then they would be within the security perimeter’, they said. The Daily Mail’s source has claimed that Meghan would need a great deal of convincing. And she is known to love the Cotswolds having spent time there after moving to the UK when she became engaged to Harry.

[From The Daily Mail]

Wow, royal insiders already have the Sussexes moving back to the UK and staying on a royal estate. Or rather, they have Harry claiming a base on a royal estate while everyone agrees to send Meghan to the Cotswolds, naturally. Absolutely delusional. I will say this though… I found it interesting that for Harry’s visit to the UK a few weeks ago, there was no conversation (that I saw) of where he was staying. Did he stay in hotels, or did his father allow Harry and his security team to stay at a royal property? Anyway, no, none of this is happening. “Maintaining any kind of residence in the UK” was over for the Sussexes the moment Charles evicted them from Frogmore Cottage out of spite.

bitchy | King Charles & Camilla will spend two days in Vatican City & meet Pope Bob

by jummy84 September 23, 2025
written by jummy84

This past April, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Italy. The backstory on the royal tour is fascinating – at the end of 2023, Kensington Palace teased a potential royal tour of Italy for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Then Kate’s medical situation and disappearance happened, and the Italian trip was no longer on the table. Suddenly, Charles and Camilla were the ones planning a visit to Rome. They ended up scheduling it around their wedding anniversary, so it felt less like a royal tour and more like an Italian vacation with some public events. The original plan also involved a stop in Vatican City to meet with Pope Francis. Franny got very ill, so the Vatican canceled on C&C. But C&C wouldn’t take no for an answer – they ended up visiting Francis anyway and getting a brief photo-op. They also got the Vatican to issue a statement about how Franny wished them well on their anniversary. The whole thing was actually pretty tacky, especially given that Francis died soon after.

Well, Charles and Camilla are bizarrely undeterred. They’ve apparently rescheduled a visit to the Vatican and they have plans to meet the new pope in person. Pope Leo (aka Pope Bob) has apparently agreed to all of this? Hm.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to meet with Pope Leo during an official state visit to Vatican City next month. The Sun reported over the weekend that the King and Queen will spend around two days in the holy city in October, an abbreviated trip following their official state visit to Italy earlier this year.

King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 78, were originally set to make an official visit to the Vatican in April as part of the Italy trip. However, it was postponed due to Pope Francis’ ill health at the time. Instead, the royal couple met privately with the Catholic leader on April 9.

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, at the age of 88, following months of health struggles — which included a 38-day hospitalization, where he was treated for double pneumonia. Following Pope Francis’ death, the cardinals of the Catholic Church gathered for the papal conclave, where they selected Pope Leo XIV — previously known as Cardinal Robert Prevost — as the 267th pope of the Roman Catholic Church.

While the King and Queen have yet to officially meet Pope Leo, 70, in person, the Catholic leader recently extended a meaningful gesture to the royal family. Earlier this month, the Pope sent a surprise tribute to the late Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who died on Sept. 4 at age 92. The Duchess’s funeral mass on Sept. 16, conducted by the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, was historic as the first Catholic funeral for a member of the British royal family in modern history.

[From People]

Charles does have a commitment to embracing all people of faith, not just Anglicans. But his obsession with popes is weird, right? He’s all about popes. Why is it so important for him to get facetime with Pope Bob? Most of Europe’s Catholic royals have already met with Pope Bob, or they made a point of attending one of his first Masses. I guess Charles didn’t want to be left out. (Incidentally, I still haven’t completely absorbed the fact that the new pope is a guy named Bob from Chicago.)

bitchy | Tina Brown: King Charles is tired of ‘haughty, Hanoverian’ Prince William

by jummy84 September 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Two weeks ago, in the middle of Prince Harry’s four-day trip to the UK, Tina Brown’s Fresh Hell Substack landed like a bomb. Brown devoted a chunk of her Substack that week to analysis of King Charles’s relationships with his two sons. According to Brown, Charles is currently “less irritated” with Harry than Charles is with his dour, dull and lazy heir, Prince William. Brown’s colorful language and analysis of the situation gave the British media the perfect opening to breathlessly repeat everything she wrote with their own twist. Brown’s piece spelled out the big “secret” in the royalist media: that William’s laziness is a huge problem, and that William is basically having a nervous breakdown over Harry’s meeting with their father and Harry’s popularity within the UK. Well, I missed this, but Brown also wrote a New York Times column last week, published in the middle of the Trump state visit. Brown continued to analyze the melodramas within the House of Windsor.

… And yet, Charles’s first few years as monarch have been something of a quiet triumph. Seasoned by countless foreign tours, marinated in his constitutional role through years of practice and now magically aligned with so much of modern citizenry’s concerns (his decades-long campaign against pesticides and food dyes, by the way, now sounds like the sane bit of MAHA), Charles may be the last man standing who can exude global gravitas in the dumpster fire of our digitally dominated world.

It is all the more tragic that his diagnosis of an undisclosed cancer may make his reign a race against time, which added poignancy to his long-postponed reunion with his estranged son Harry last week. Charles knows that in these times of ugly political discord, a fractured royal family is a bad look. But it was also the fulfillment of paternal longing. It’s no secret that Charles desperately misses his prodigal son who, in earlier days, was always the fun, ebullient scamp compared with the haughtier, more Hanoverian William. It’s understandably enraging for William to see his treacherous younger brother, who spent the last five years trashing his family on TV and promoting a back-stabbing, best-selling book, bounding around the British charity circuit, doing a well-received side-dash to Ukraine and upstaging the photo ops of William’s own diligent engagements.

But Charles, I am told, is tiring of his elder son’s self-righteous intractability in the family feud, and wants to re-embrace Harry — if only he can keep his mouth shut. Harry’s subsequent interview with The Guardian, in which the imperturbably cocky prince said, “My conscience is clear,” suggests to his haters the futility of expecting Harry Hotspur to play the old royal game.

Here in America, we are obsessed with the process and drama of presidential politics, the burden of office, the daily colonoscopy of the White House press corps and the intolerable intrusions into our leaders’ private lives. Former First Ladies moan about the pressures they endure during hellish years in the White House bubble. But only the people born or married into the institution of monarchy know the real meaning of life in a cage, defined by duty, service and unceasing public scrutiny with no exit except death or flight. It’s more akin to taking holy orders than living a grand, red-carpet life waited on by obsequious servants — something Harry’s wife, Meghan, never understood.

[From The NY Times]

Again, this came out before this weekend’s briefing games, where the Daily Mail pitted palace sources against each other, all to further enrage the incandescent one. Charles has spent the past two weeks telegraphing the fact that he wants to reconcile with Harry in any way he can, and that the reconciliation should happen for several reasons, one of which is “putting Work-shy William on his heels.” It’s interesting, I guess, that the conversation has seemingly shifted in one month to this, where everyone is speaking openly about how much Charles hates William and considers William to be a huge disappointment. I really don’t trust William OR Charles here, they’re both clout-chasing Harry and using Harry’s name for their own deranged purposes.

bitchy | King Charles is ‘thrilled’ about the Trump visit & ‘very pleased with the global optics’

by jummy84 September 21, 2025

It’s interesting reading the differences between the British coverage and American coverage of the Trumps’ state visit to the UK. The British political media is mostly happy that it’s over and they seem unsettled by how the Windsors ingratiated themselves so thoroughly with the Trumps. The American coverage is more like “well, Trump wants nothing more than to be a despotic king, so he was really impressed with the dumbass carriage ride, I guess.” Everyone’s pointing out that the Trumps were localized, almost entirely, inside and around Windsor Castle. They really didn’t want the Trumps to interact with any of the locals. Meanwhile, the royalists are trying to make it sound like a good thing that Trump is such a huge fan of Prince William, Kate and King Charles. “Nazi-approved” is such a weird flex for British royalty, you know? From Vanity Fair:

The inclusion of Prince William and Princess Kate at such a high level during Trump’s state visit has been “unusual,” according to royal watchers, with both the Prince and Princess of Wales taking on more high-profile roles. As well as greeting President Trump and the first lady at Windsor, which is standard for state visits, William and Catherine were invited to have a private meeting with the Trumps which a Kensington Palace aide described as “warm and friendly.”

“It seems as though Trump has an eye on the future generation,” says Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine. “He’s obviously genuinely impressed by William and who wouldn’t be impressed by Kate. She looked incredible. It seems a lot of effort has been made for the Trumps and the Waleses to spend some time together on this trip.”

“I would expect that William and Catherine would have been quite touched and maybe a bit taken aback by so many compliments,” adds Seward. “It’s very flattering to have someone as powerful as Trump praising you and treating you like a very special friend. It’s unusual for the Head of State to be that personal, but it’s Trump’s style. The royals have to deal with so many dullards, Trump is actually really refreshing. He’s outspoken and quite exciting to be around because you don’t know what’s going to happen. Catherine looked quite taken aback when he praised her so personally. She looked a bit embarrassed, but that’s Trump. I think the royals are probably amused and bemused by it all.”

During Wednesday’s dinner in Windsor, Trump made a point about being the only US president in history to be granted the privilege of two state visits and joked about hoping he would be the only one to make King Charles laugh.

A source close to the king told Vanity Fair that Charles has said the state visit “could not be better.” Adds the source, “I understand that His Majesty the King is thrilled about the visit and very pleased with the global optics of it all. The Royal Family really did pull out all the stops.”

[From Vanity Fair]

“The Royal Family really did pull out all the stops” – again, they didn’t have much of a choice. Charles HAD to do all of this, he was outmaneuvered by Keir Starmer and Trump himself. Charles had to roll out the red carpet and entertain a decrepit old white supremacist with shiny objects. The only real choices made for this state visit were about Prince William and Kate. Kate especially didn’t have to be featured so prominently, she didn’t have to agree to sit next to Trump at the banquet (that should have been a job for Camilla), she didn’t have to agree to a solo event with Melania. Choices were also made to push William and Kate aside, especially at the welcoming ceremony, when the Waleses were literally shooed away and kicked off the dais. So… yeah, some interesting things of note happened for hardcore royal-watchers, but the broad strokes of the state visit are that it was “successful” on both sides of the Atlantic.

Charles Kelley has become a father for the second time.

Cassie and Charles Kelley have welcomed their second baby

The Lady A singer, 44, revealed he and his wife Cassie 42, expanded their family with a newborn son, who they have named Archer Lancaster Kelley, earlier this week.

A representative for Charles told People magazine: “Our little miracle Archer Lancaster Kelley arrived at 11:14 am on Sept. 16 and we are absolutely in love.

“We are so thankful to get to be his mom and dad, and to share the joy with his big brother, Ward, who is over the moon!”

The couple – who also have nine-year-old son Ward – shared a picture of of them beaming while Cassie held her little bundle of joy.

Cassie also took to her Instagram Stories and posted a picture of her newborn.

She captioned the post: “Yall he is the sweetest in the world (sic).”

The couple – who married in 2009 – also showed Ward’s reaction to becoming a big brother, with the youngster jumping for joy in one clip, and holding his new sibling in another.

The caption read: “Big brother is in HEAVEN (sic).”

Cassie also posted a picture of their immediate reaction to the birth, with her and Charles seen smiling ear-to-ear.

They wrote: “And this was our first reaction (sic). The wonder and awe and blessing in this moment is something I’ll never forget. So much joy and gratitude!”

In March, Charles and Cassie announced they were expecting baby number two.

Taking to Instagram, Cassie posted a selection of photos with her husband and Ward, revealing her baby bump.

She captioned the post: “Biggest surprise of our lives! Baby Kelley coming early fall 2025 (sic). Big brother is the MOST excited!”

Along the way, Cassie shared plenty of updates about her pregnancy, including earlier this month when she posted footage of her baby brunch.

Cassie also shared other photos from her pregnancy, where she could be seen posing by the pool on her family European vacation.

She wrote: “The summer I spent carrying you All over the world, with friends, with family, with ocean breezes and cityscapes, celebrating and grieving, sharing laughter and long stories.

“But no matter where i was or who i was with … I was always with you, buddy. Can’t wait for you to be here and I’ll never forget our summer together (and all of our outfits haha).”
