Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection day 1 (updated live): The Rishab Shetty film opened to positive reviews, with many praising the lead performance.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection day 1 (updated live): Rishab Shetty’s prequel to 2022’s Kantara is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The Dusshera release is not just one of the most high-profile Kannada films of all time, but also among the biggest festive releases pan-India this year. According to the latest update, Kantara Chapter 1 has already surpassed the ₹40 crore mark.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection (updated live): Rishab Shetty film is looking at a bumper opening.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office update at 7 PM

The Sacnilk report states that Kantara Chapter 1 collected ₹47.76 crore on its opening day of release. The film is expected to cross the ₹50 crore mark by the end of the day. It has already crossed the opening day collections of several hit films of the year, including Saiyaara ( ₹22 crore), Sikandar ( ₹26 crore), and Chhaava ( ₹31 crore). Can it beat Pawan Kalyan’s OG ( ₹84 crore) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie ( ₹65 crore)? It seems unlikely.

Jr NTR tweeted about the film and wrote, “Congratulations to the team of #KantaraChapter1 on scoring a resounding success. @shetty_rishab sir pulled off the unthinkable by excelling both as a mindblowing actor and a brilliant director. My best wishes to the entire cast and crew, along with @hombalefilms, for fearlessly backing Rishab sir’s vision.”

HT review of Kantara

An excerpt from the Hindustan Times review of the film read, “Rishab Shetty balances the folk traditions that have inspired the film with modern sensibilities better this time around. Chapter 1 gives its women more agency than the first film ever did. But even this one can’t resist the knight-in-shining-armour trope. However strong the woman is, a man must rescue her in the end. Rishab Shetty’s writing seems to allow women to have power and independence only when they rebel or antagonise. Otherwise, it is reduced to tokenism. However, still props to the writer-director for giving a female character more prominence this time around, and even giving her some of the most powerful moments in the film.”

Kantara Chapter 1 review

Cast: Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, Gulshan Devaiah

Director: Rishab Shetty

Rating: ★★★

Halfway into Kantara: Chapter 1, I could not help but feel that the film, like the original Kantara, was an elaborate setup for a visually splendid payoff. The film tests your patience, exhausts you, and frustrates you before eventually rewarding you with what is one of the most visually stunning climaxes in recent times. Yet, while the original Kantara held it all together, Chapter 1 seems to be nudging the viewer to just wait for that payoff and ignore the bumpy ride along the way. Does it take the sheen away a bit? Certainly. Is Kantara Chapter 1 still a watchable film? Immensely so! Despite the unevenness and drab moments, Rishab Shetty yet again scripts a theatrical spectacle that can only be experienced, not explained.

Kantara Chapter 1 review: Rishab Shetty takes on the daunting task of following up to Kantara.

What is it about

Kantara: Chapter 1 is an origin story that explains the backstory of the daivas and the guliga we saw in Kantara. Rishab plays Berme, a warrior from Kantara, a hamlet that is at odds with the neighbouring Kadamba kingdom. The ruler Vijayendra (Jayaram) has enforced an uneasy truce with Kantara, but his ambitious and wayward son, Kulasekhara (Gulshan Devaiah), wants to annex Kantara and capture the resources in the forest. Even as the princess Kanakvathi (Rukmini Vasanth) tries to find a middle ground, blood spills, and Kulasekhara and Berme come face to face.

What works and what doesn’t

While the 2022 film Kantara was a rooted film about traditions and folk tales of coastal Karnataka, Kantara: Chapter 1 is an ambitious, large-scale story of greed, war, and destiny. It is magnified several-fold as compared to the first part. The prequel is more mass than folk, giving both the heroes and the villains enough time to saunter on the screen and indulge in some elevation. If Kantara had some nuance, Chapter 1 has the subtlety of a sledgehammer. It is loud, bold, and in-your-face, perhaps a little too much at times.

What makes Kantara Chapter 1 a little intolerable at times is how uneven and scattered the narrative gets, particularly in the first half. It moves at a leisurely pace, flitting between the two settings and often indulging a bit too much in the characters’ frivolities. The humour seems forced, and the romance a little rushed. Yet, the moment the action kicks in, the film gets back on track.

Movie Review

Kantara: Chapter 1

Kantara: Chapter 1

Rating Star 3/5

Tracing the origins of the daivas and guliga in Kantara, the Rishab Shetty film focusses on the standoff between the village and a neighbouring kingdom centuries ago.

Cast

Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, Gulshan Devaiah

Verdict

Kantara Chapter 1 relies upon its visuals, cinematography, and splendid scale to patch over the roughness in the narrative. Rishab Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth’s performances help too.

Rishab Shetty balances the folk traditions that have inspired the film with modern sensibilities better this time around. However, still props to the writer-director for giving a female character more prominence this time around, and even giving her some of the most powerful moments in the film.

But the real clincher for the film is the visuals. The VFX work is quite splendid for a film of this budget. The CGI tiger and monkeys, in particular, have been rendered beautifully. But it’s the film’s play with fire and the depiction of the guliga and daivas that steal the show. The powerful climax is elevated by Rishab Shetty’s performance, but the VFX plays an important role there. What is also noteworthy is the cinematography. Much of the film is shot at night, but Kantara: Chapter 1 thankfully discards the newfound penchant for too much darkness on screen.

The performances

I expected Rishab to shine again on screen, and he does. In scenes where he transforms into the guliga, he is a man possessed and delivers a breathtaking, captivating performance yet again. But for me, the other star was Rukmini Vasanth. The second half of the film allows her to take on a central role in the narrative, showing shades that films in this genre seldom allow female stars to. And the actor excels. Gulshan Devaiah has been wasted in the first half, but he briefly gets to show his true mettle after the interval.

Rukmini Vasanth in a still from Kantara: Chapter 1.
Rukmini Vasanth in a still from Kantara: Chapter 1.

Chapter 1 a critique of consumerism as it is a commentary on greed and maintaining the ecological balance, all themes that were present in the first Kantara too. Here, they have been presented with a medieval lens, though. And Rishab Shetty does well as these are the only moments in the film that have some nuance and subtlety. But the visuals and performances, coupled with the splendid presentation of folkore, is enough to patch the holes left by the roughness in the narrative. This makes Kantara: Chapter 1 one of the most visually stunning and watchable Indian films in recent times.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office prediction: Rishab Shetty film may beat Saiyaara and Chhaava, but no match for OG, Coolie

The much-awaited prequel to Kantara is releasing in theatres this Dussehra (2 October). The festive release is not just one of the most high-profile Kannada films of all time, but also among the biggest festive releases pan-India this year. Early advance booking trends indicate a solid opening for the film, but also show that its pan-India aspirations may have been a little too lofty.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office prediction: Rishab Shetty plays the lead in and directs the film, a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara.

Kantara Chapter 1 advance bookings

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, which made over ₹400 crore at the box office. The upcoming film’s advance booking has crossed ₹12 crore gross for the opening day by 11 AM on the eve of its release. This figure is for all languages, and the number is dominated by the Kannada version, which alone accounts for ₹7.50 crore. The Hindi version is steadily rising with ₹2 crore advance booking gross so far.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office prediction

The original Kantara was a true pan-India hit, having earned ₹162 crore net in Kannada, ₹84 crore in Hindi, and ₹63 crore in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. This was despite the fact that its release was staggered. It was originally released only in Kannada, and the dubbed versions arrived only two weeks later. This time, the film is releasing in all five languages on one day, which will ensure a bigger opening. According to trade pundits, Kantara Chapter 1 is looking at a ₹30+ crore net opening in India. More liberal estimates put the number at even ₹40 crore.

This may include ₹15-17 crore from the Hindi version alone, a sizable number, but still less than what was initially expected. A week back, trade pundits were hoping for a ₹25-crore opening from Kantara Chapter 1 in Hindi alone. But those estimates have been lowered now.

Even then, a ₹35-40 crore opening for Kantara Chapter 1 would mean it will outdo every Bollywood release of the year, including Saiyaara ( ₹22 crore), Sikandar ( ₹26 crore), and Chhaava ( ₹31 crore). However, it is no match for some of the biggest pan-India releases of the year, such as Pawan Kalyan’s OG ( ₹84 crore) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie ( ₹65 crore).

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Kantara Chapter 1 stars Rishab Shetty in a tale set centuries before the events of the first Kantara. The film explores the birth of the mysteries depicted in the first film. It also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. The film releases across India on 2 October.

The trailer and song of this pan-India film were shown to the media. A comic book based on Kantara was also released on the occasion.

As the film team was in Mumbai, writer-director and actor of the film Kantara, Rishabh Shetty recalled his struggling days in Mumbai. He added, “Mumbai is special to me because in this city, in 2008, I was an office boy at a producer’s house in Andheri West. I used to drive the producer’s car. But cinema brought me here. This is the power of cinema.”

The first part of the film Kantara was released in 2022. Made at a cost of around ₹14 crore, the film grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide. The film also enjoyed considerable popularity in Hindi. Now, the second installment will follow a similar story, set in our country.

Rishab said, “When we were making the first Kantara, we didn’t think it would be such a huge success. But gradually, people started watching it, and the film became a huge hit. We are grateful to everyone who made Kantara such a big success. I hope you will give this film the same love.”

The film, Kantara Chapter 1, is based on mythology and depicts the story of Panjurli Deva and Guliga Deva. The film will also depict a fierce battle. The film was shot over a period of approximately 250 days. The trailer reveals that the film will feature stunning VFX and high-voltage action sequences, providing a grand cinematic experience for audiences.

Actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty’s much-anticipated film Kantara Chapter 1 is gearing up for its release on 2 October. However, a promotional event scheduled for 30 September in Chennai has been cancelled in light of a devastating tragedy in Tamil Nadu. The decision comes after a deadly stampede at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief and actor Vijay’s campaign rally in Karur, which claimed at least 41 lives.

The makers of Kantara Chapter 1, Hombale Films, shared an official statement on Instagram, expressing their grief and solidarity with the affected families. “In view of the recent unfortunate incident, we have decided to cancel our Kantara Chapter 1 promotional event scheduled in Chennai tomorrow. We believe this is a time for reflection and solidarity with those affected. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the families impacted,” the statement read.

The caption added, “Due to the recent unfortunate incident, we are cancelling the #KantaraChapter1 promotional event in Chennai tomorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to meeting our audience in Tamil Nadu at a more appropriate time.”

The stampede occurred during Vijay’s political rally, where an overwhelming crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor-turned-politician. As people surged towards the barricades, chaos broke out, resulting in the deadly stampede. Vijay has expressed deep sorrow and announced financial aid of ₹20 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹2 lakh each for the injured.

Kantara Chapter 1 advance booking is going at a breakneck pace, indicating a bumper opening for the Rishab Shetty-starrer prequel.

Rishab Shetty’s heavily anticipated film, Kantara Chapter 1, is releasing in theatres this Thursday (October 2) on the occasion of Dussehra. The film is a prequel to Kantara, the 2021 blockbuster, and hence, carries a lot of buzz. The original film was a huge hit not just in Karnataka, but in north India as well. And the prequel seems to be going even bigger.

Rishab Shetty plays the lead in and directs Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara.

Kantara Chapter 1 advance booking

The advance booking for Kantara Chapter 1 opened on Sunday, four days before the film’s release. In a little over 24 hours, the pre-sales for day 1 have touched ₹5.7 crore gross, selling 1.7 lakh tickets already. This breakneck pace of ticket sales has already ensured that Kantara Chapter 1 will have a bigger opening than Kantara, which opened at just ₹2 crore in India back in 2022.

It’s still three days to go for the release of Kantara: Chapter 1, and the film is already outpacing the advance booking collections of recent big releases like Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2. Neither of these films had touched ₹5 crore in advance bookings three days before the release. Kantara: Chapter 1 is also outperforming Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1 in pre-sales. The 2019 film was the highest-grossing Kannada film for three years, and the first from the language to cross ₹250 crore worldwide gross.

Kantara Chapter 1 should look to not just surpass but comfortably beat the ₹400-crore gross of the first Kantara, given its hype and scale. And it has taken a good start in that direction with healthy advance bookings. So far, the bulk of the sales have been in Kannada, but as more screens open up in the Hindi belt over Monday and Tuesday, the numbers should pick up. As of now, Kantara Chapter 1 has earned ₹36 lakh in advance bookings in Hindi, and just over ₹5 lakh in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam combined. The rest of the collections have come in the original Kannada version.

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 explores the origins of the mythology and story told in Kantara. Set ten centuries before the original film, Chapter 1 stars Rishab Shetty, but in a different role this time. Joining him in the cast are Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. The film releases across India on 2 October.

Star Wars Visions Season 3: A New Chapter In Galactic Storytelling | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Every era of Star Wars has pushed boundaries, but Visions has been something else entirely. When the first season launched in 2021, it wasn’t just another addition to the galaxy’s ever-expanding canon, it was an invitation. Lucasfilm handed the keys of its most treasured universe to creators across the globe and asked them to dream. The result was bold, risky, and unlike anything fans had seen before. Now, with Star Wars: Visions Season 3 arriving on Disney+ October 29, 2025, that invitation feels even more urgent. This is where Star Wars isn’t just retold, it’s reimagined.

This season carries forward the DNA of Visions: daring, self-contained stories that bend form while staying rooted in the saga’s eternal themes of destiny, hope, and rebellion. Executive producers Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, and James Waugh once again oversee the anthology, but the brilliance lies in the hands of the global filmmakers, from Asia to Europe, Latin America to India, who transform Star Wars into something personal and universal all at once.

Animation is more than a tool here, it’s the heartbeat. Each short feels like an experiment in style and storytelling: some drawn by hand with painterly textures, some breaking the limits of CGI, others blending aesthetics in ways that redefine what Star Wars can look like. Where George Lucas once pushed special effects to create new worlds, these filmmakers now push cultural identity and artistry into the franchise, proving the Force belongs to everyone.

While casting details remain guarded, past seasons have shown how wide the reach can be. Performers like Lucy Liu, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Alison Brie, and Neil Patrick Harris lent their voices alongside local talents, striking a balance between Hollywood presence and authentic global storytelling. Season 3 is poised to expand that tradition, amplifying voices that might otherwise never echo in a galaxy so familiar to fans.

And that is perhaps the real beauty of Visions. In a franchise often tied down by canon, timelines, and fan debates, this anthology is free. It is Star Wars unshackled, a place where myths, cultures, and animation techniques collide. For those who grew up with the saga and those discovering it through streaming marathons, TikTok clips, or fandom chatter, Visions offers the same promise: a chance to rediscover the galaxy with new eyes.

As Star Wars: Visions Season 3 streams between October 29, 2025 and January 29, 2026, it’s more than just another release on Disney+. It’s a reminder that stories live longest when they are shared, reshaped, and retold through many voices. In an entertainment landscape where big franchises often cling to safety, Visions dares to be fearless. And that’s why, almost half a century after Luke first looked at the twin suns, the galaxy far, far away still feels infinite.

Tovino Thomas Steps Into The Spotlight As Lokah Chapter 2 Teaser Drops

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra has rewritten box office history for Malayalam cinema. The fantasy action drama not only stormed past previous records to become the industry’s top-grossing film worldwide, but it continues to hold strong weeks after release. With India collections already crossing the ₹125 crore mark, the film’s numbers prove its extraordinary reach and hint at the appetite for its growing universe.

Against this backdrop, Wayfarer Films has dropped a surprise teaser for Lokah Chapter 2, directed once again by Dominic Arun. The big reveal? Tovino Thomas’ Michael, also known as Chathan, will take centre stage in the follow-up, while Dulquer Salmaan’s Charlie, the Odiyan, returns in a supporting but crucial capacity.

Inside the Teaser: Chathan’s Rise and Charlie’s Reluctance

The three-minute promo unfolds like a playful exchange between two old friends. Charlie teases Michael by calling him “boring,” only for Michael to retort that he is anything but. In fact, he quips that he and his 389 brothers share a penchant for drinking — a darkly comic touch that nods to his supernatural origins.

The conversation takes a turn when Michael references the book They Live Among Us, reminding viewers that the first chapter revolved around Kalliyankattu Neeli. Now, he declares, the second instalment will be his story. Michael then probes Charlie about whether he will join him if trouble arises. Charlie declines, saying family matters are not his business, but Michael insists he will rope him in regardless.

The teaser ends with an ominous sketch of Michael surrounded by his brothers, the air thick with betrayal as they appear ready to turn against one another. This closing image sets the tone for Chapter 2: a narrative that blends myth and magic with the tension of a family feud spiraling out of control.

A Universe Growing in Scale and Mystery

The promo makes it clear that Lokah is expanding beyond a single hero’s journey. With Chathan stepping forward, the series has the chance to explore darker shades of folklore, more complex moral conflicts, and an even larger canvas of mythic battles. For Tovino, it’s another feather in his cap as he shoulders a franchise that’s already captured the audience’s imagination.

Meanwhile, Dulquer’s Charlie remains a compelling presence, the Odiyan who may be unwillingly dragged into a fight that is not his own. The chemistry between the two actors, already evident in the playful promo, promises sparks in the sequel.

If Chapter 1 was about establishing the Lokah universe, the sequel seems intent on deepening it — with sibling rivalries, supernatural clashes, and shifting loyalties at its core. The bar has been set sky-high, and Lokah Chapter 2 looks ready to rise to the occasion.

Urvashi’s First Look From Aasha Signals a Bold New Chapter

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Malayalam cinema’s beloved powerhouse performer Urvashi is back in the spotlight with her first look from Aasha, unveiled on Friday. The poster frames her in a quiet yet commanding pose, standing amid lush green surroundings, her gaze sharp enough to suggest a character layered with fire and restraint. To accompany the reveal, the makers dropped a short video from the film’s set that showed cast and crew giving Urvashi a heartfelt welcome as she returned after collecting her National Award in New Delhi.

The award, for Best Supporting Actor in the acclaimed Ullozhukku, has only reinforced what audiences already know: that Urvashi continues to redefine herself with every role. The clip of her celebratory reception on the sets of Aasha has since been doing the rounds online, underscoring the warmth she commands across the industry.

A Team with Big Ambitions

Directed by first-timer Safar Sanal, Aasha pairs Urvashi with Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and veteran Vijayaraghavan in key roles. Safar has co-written the screenplay and dialogues with actor Ramesh Girija of Pani fame, who previously teamed up with him on Joju’s 2022 release Peace.

The film is currently shooting around Kalady, with cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan capturing the rustic textures of the region. Midhun Mukundan, known for his eclectic music, is composing the score, while editor Shan Mohammed is at the editing desk. Backed by producer Vinayaka Ajith, the project is being designed as a multi-lingual release, aiming to connect with audiences across five languages.

Urvashi’s lineup doesn’t stop there. She is also part of Paablo Paarty, a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual that pairs her with her daughter Teja Lakshmi. Directed by Arathi Gayathri Devi, whose debut Theri Meri is awaiting release, the project has already stirred curiosity for bringing together two generations of performers in one frame.

Urvashi’s Moment of Reckoning

Beyond the posters and applause, Urvashi has also been vocal about her National Award win. She openly questioned the decision to categorise her nuanced performance in Ullozhukku as “supporting,” sparking conversations about how roles for women, particularly senior actors, are positioned. Her comments reflected not defiance but a call for fair recognition — something that only adds weight to her upcoming characters.

With Aasha, expectations are high not just because of the talent on board, but because Urvashi’s presence feels charged with new energy. If the first look is any indication, the film could see her channelling a rawer, grittier side that audiences haven’t experienced in a while. For fans and cinephiles, the anticipation lies in how this celebrated actor reinvents herself yet again.
