Ja Rule Believes His Beef With 50 Cent Was Bad For New York Hip-Hop

Ja Rule recently opened up about one of Hip-Hop’s most infamous feuds, expressing his belief that the heated rivalry between himself and 50 Cent during the late ’90s and early ’00s created a divide that ultimately negatively impacted the New York Hip-Hop scene.

Appearing on Carmelo Anthony’s 7PM in Brooklyn With Carmelo Anthony podcast, the Queens native reflected on how their animosity—once the center of rap’s most polarizing drama—did more harm than good for the culture that raised them.

“Look at Kendrick and Drake,” Ja said, referencing the various fallouts behind the two rap titans’ fiery battle. “Nothing good is coming out of any of these things.”

Drawing a direct comparison between today’s lyrical wars and his own with 50 Cent, Ja reflected on how their feud fractured the unity that once defined New York’s rap landscape. “Me and 50’s sh*t, that sh*t f**ked up New York Hip-Hop. It really did because it separated a lot of ni**as in New York.”

Ja’s honesty painted a picture of a man looking back on his legacy with both pride and perspective. Though acknowledging the damage their feud caused, he didn’t shy away from his competitive nature. “I feel like I was the better rapper,” Ja said.

“I felt like I made the better records. I feel like my records aged better, still. So, that’s how I feel inside. I don’t know how everybody else feels.”

Yet even amid self-assurance, Rule extended a nod of respect to his longtime rival. “At the end of the day, you’ve gotta kinda love both or you gotta kinda respect both,” the “Always on Time” rapper said of himself and 50.

“You don’t gotta love both, but you gotta respect both. You gotta appreciate both, and that’s just what it is. Even in rap competitions and battles and beefs and sh*t like that, I have a very different take on it than everybody does. He has a take on it that was his take.”

The rivalry between Ja Rule and 50 Cent was one of the most intense in Hip-Hop history, marked by diss tracks, public confrontations, and even real-life altercations.

Though both men achieved immense success, their battle symbolized a turning point—one that, as Ja now admits, left lasting cracks in the city’s once-unified rap foundation.

50 Cent Reportedly Drops $50 Million On 20 Properties In Louisiana For Film & Entertainment Hub

#50Cent might joke around online, but he’s never played about his business.

The rapper-turned-media-mogul has invested approximately $50 million and acquired around 20 properties in downtown #Shreveport, #Louisiana, as part of his new “50 Cent Economic District” initiative intended to transform the city into a film and entertainment hub. Key purchases reportedly include a $1.02 million multi-lot property, a $150,000 building, and a vacant parcel for $76,872. He’s now reportedly the city’s largest private property owner.

“In the short period of time, I’ve come to like the people of Shreveport differently,’ 50 said about his latest business project. “It feels like home for me, and eventually it’ll be home because I have some work to do.”

Are you excited to see what film and TV projects come from 50’s latest business move?

50 Cent, Lalique Unveil 505 Edition Branson Cognac At Launch Party

The world of luxury and artistry converged in New York City on October 15th, 2025, as Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Lalique unveiled the 505 Edition Branson Cognac at an exclusive launch event held at the elegant Lalique Townhouse in Manhattan.

The evening shimmered with refinement and star power as Lalique’s Executive Chairman and CEO, Silvio Denz, joined Jackson in welcoming VIP guests who raised their glasses to celebrate the official debut of this extraordinary partnership between Sire Spirits and Lalique.

Founded in 2018, Jackson’s Sire Spirits—home to Branson Cognac and Le Chemin du Roi Champagne—was built on a foundation of legacy and excellence. By 2019, Jackson turned to Lalique, the legendary French crystal house, to craft a decanter worthy of his vision.

From their first creative session in 2020, Jackson, Denz, and Marc Larminaux, Lalique’s Artistic and Creative Director, set out to merge the craftsmanship of fine cognac with the sculptural mastery of French crystal. The result: a stunning vessel crowned with a majestic lion, symbolizing strength and mastery—each piece individually hand-blown, engraved, and signed in Alsace.

“This cognac represents a legacy I want to pass on —the nectar will still have a story to tell, and the crystal carafe will endure as a unique piece of art,” 50 said in a statement via press release.

“This is more than a cognac —it’s a manifesto, a bridge between French heritage, the American dream, and my strong belief in conscious capitalism,” he added. “It represents everything that embodies an aspirational lifestyle. Through Lalique’s artistry and my Foundation’s mission, we’ve created something timeless that will inspire for generations.”

Silvio Denz, Executive Chairman Lalique Group, echoed Fif’s sentiments, expressing his excitement in working with the Hip-Hop legend. “I am honored by this collaboration with Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson, a true visionary,” Denz said of the entertainment mogul.

“Though we come from different worlds, we share the same values: audacity, excellence, and creativity. Together, we have surpassed the boundaries of imagination.”

VIBE was on hand for the celebration and compiled snapshots of the various guests that helped 50 Cent and Lalique toast up to their new product and partnership.

Swift released her 12th studio album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ yesterday (October 3), the follow-up to last year’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, and, hours after the album was released, 50 Cent took to Instagram to share his excitement over a reference to him.

It comes on the sixth track, ‘Ruin the Friendship’, where Swift sings: “And it was not an invitation/But as the 50 Cеnt song played/Should’ve kissed you anyway.”

In response, the rapper wrote: “@taylorswift shit is popping right now, she shout me out, she don’t shout you out,” alongside a photo of the album’s cover. “LOL THIS IS FOR BIG TIMERS ONLY!”

He added: “Wait I’m the only shout out on the whole album.”

However, his claim isn’t strictly accurate, with an entire song on the record dedicated to Elizabeth Taylor.

Fans are also speculating that ‘Actually Romantic’ is a diss track directed at Charli XCX, with the lyrics: “I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave,” Swift sings. “High-fived my ex and then said you’re glad he ghosted me/ Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face/ Some people might be offended/ But it’s actually sweet.”

Many have considered this a rebuttal to Charli’s ‘Sympathy Is A Knife’ from ‘Brat’, on which she sang: “Don’t know if I’m spiralling/ One voice tells me that they laugh/ George says I’m just paranoid/ Don’t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show/ Fingers crossed behind my back/ I hope they break up real quick.”

Swift has since explained the lyrics, saying the track is about somebody having “a one-sided, adversarial relationship with you that you didn’t know about.”

As soon as ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ dropped, fans have been sharing their thoughts on the record, with some calling it “her best album” and the return of “pop perfection”, and others declaring it “the worst Taylor Swift album yet” and “boring and basic”. You can also explore the range of Easter eggs and references on the album here.

She has also indicated that she has no intention of heading out on tour again anytime soon, after the gargantuan effort that went into her record-breaking ‘Eras’ tour.

50 Cent Celebrates Taylor Swift Shoutout on ‘Life of a Showgirl’

“This is for big timers only!” the rapper wrote about the Swift name-drop

50 Cent is happy to get a little shout-out from Taylor Swift. On Friday, hours after Swift released The Life of a Showgirl, the rapper shared his excitement over the pop queen mentioning his name on “Ruin the Friendship,” Track Six on her new album.

“@taylorswift shit is popping right now, she shout me out, she don’t shout you out,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram alongside the LP’s cover. “LOL THIS IS FOR BIG TIMERS ONLY!”

He added: “Wait I’m the only shout out on the whole album.”

On the song, Swift looks back on a teenage romance and the regret of not kissing someone despite knowing it would’ve been worth the risk. “And it was not an invitation/But as the 50 Cеnt song played/Should’ve kissed you anyway,” she sings on the track looking back at prom night. “And it was not convenient, no/Would’ve been the best mistake/Should’ve kissed you anyway, hey.”

While Swift has not explained the meaning or inspiration behind the song “Ruin the Friendship,” fans have speculated that the track is about Jeffrey Lang, whom Swift has spoken about being close to while they went to Hendersonville High School. Lang died at age 21 in November 2010.

Trending Stories

“Yesterday, I sang at the funeral of one of my best friends,” she said at the 2010 BMI Country Music Awards shortly after his death. “And he was 21, and I used to play my songs for him first. So I would like to thank Jeff Lang.”

50 Cent isn’t actually the only shout-out on the album, however. Elsewhere on the record, “Elizabeth Taylor” is titled after the glamorous Hollywood icon of the 1950s, Swift mentions Spanish soccer team Real Madrid on “Wi$h Li$t,” and the star seemingly dedicated an entire song to Charli XCX, titled “Actually Romantic.”

Deezer reveal that 28 per cent of music uploaded to platform is fully AI-generated

Deezer has revealed that 28% of music uploaded to the streaming platform is fully AI-generated.

This revelation comes as the platform installed an AI-detection tool at the beginning of the year, and in June committed to labelling any song that uses AI with a tag. In a new report, Deezer shares the new figures for tracks that use Artificial Intelligence.

The French music streaming service said 30,000 tracks created, at least partially, with AI are added to the platform every day, and that 70% of the plays of these songs have been detected and identified as fraudulent.

The new 30,000 figure is an increase since February, when Deezer said around 10,000 AI-generated tracks are submitted to the platform daily.

In January, Deezer reported that roughly 10% of all content delivered to the platform was AI-generated. This figure increased to 18% in April and has now reached a new high of 28%.

The streaming service aims to flag content that is AI-generated for user transparency, assuring that it is removed from algorithmic recommendations. Deezer also wants to continue developing the capabilities of its AI-detection technology to include deep fake voices.

“Following a massive increase during the year, AI music now makes up a significant part of the daily track delivery to music streaming, and we want to lead the way in minimising any negative impact for artists and fans alike,” said Alexis Lanternier, Deezer’s CEO.

“Our approach is simple: we remove fully AI-generated content from algorithmic recommendations, and we don’t include it in editorial playlists. This way, we ensure the impact on the royalty pool remains minimal while providing a transparent user experience. And most importantly, we continue to fight fraudulent activity, which is the main driver behind uploading fully AI-generated content.”

Back in July, a report by 404 Media found that AI-generated songs are reportedly being uploaded to dead musicians’ profiles on Spotify.

This was uncovered when they noticed Blaze Foley – a country musician best known for his track ‘Clay Pigeons’ – had released a new single called ‘Together’ last week.

The track, which “vaguely sounds like a new, slow country song”, reportedly sounded very different from Foley’s original work, who was murdered in 1989. Additionally, the single artwork appeared to be an AI-generated image of a man singing into a microphone – who shares very little resemblance to the real Foley.

Craig McDonald, who is in charge of distributing Foley’s music and managing his Spotify page via his label Lost Art Records, said the song appeared on the artist’s profile without permission. “I can clearly tell you that this song is not Blaze, not anywhere near Blaze’s style, at all,” he told the publication. “It’s kind of an AI schlock bot, if you will.”

This is not the first time AI music has been allowed on Spotify’s platform. The seemingly AI-generated band The Velvet Sundown were reported to have over 400,000 monthly Spotify listeners – despite existing for less than a month.

Speculation continued to emerge after Redditors noticed their Instagram account look eerily AI-generated.

In other AI-related news, SZA has slammed AI users “codependent on a machine”: “Please Google how much energy and pollution it takes to run AI”. Elsewhere, Meta has created flirty AI chatbots using the characteristics and likeness of celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway – without their consent.

Dame Dash Calls Out Cam’ron for Joining 50 Cent ‘Paid in Full’ Series

by jummy84 September 10, 2025

Dame Dash has responded to the news of 50 Cent and Cam’ron teaming up to develop and produce a television series based on the 2002 cult classic Paid in Full.

50 recently announced that he purchased the rights to the movie and has Cam attached as an executive producer. “I now have the rights to PAID IN FULL, im developing it into a premium Tv show,” he captioned on Instagram. “If you like God Father of Harlem your gonna love this. Cam set to Executive produce along side me, if you want in get at him I’m out of the country.”

After the news was announced, Dame took to his Instagram to congratulate Cam and wished them the best of luck. Well, sort of.

“Cam just made a post, major announcement,” Dash said in a video. “I wanna congratulate him for making 50 his new boss. So, congratulations, Cam, 50 is now your new boss and you’re proud of it. Congratulations, my n—a.”

Paid in Full was loosely based on teenage Harlem drug kingpins Azie “AZ” Faison, Rich Porter and Albert “Alpo” Martinez and was executive produced by Dash and starred Cam’ron as Rico. which was a character based on Alpo.

In fact, earlier this year, the Harlem rapper told a story about randomly running into Alpo before the former drug kingpin was killed in a road rage incident back in 2021 and said Martinez critiqued his portrayal in the movie. “I meant to tell you, man,” Alpo apparently said. “You did a great job in the movie, your movement was off a little bit. You wasn’t movin’ exactly how I move, but you did a good job.”
