Mariah Carey Christmas Commercial for Sephora Welcomes Holiday Season

Mariah Carey‘s welcome to the Christmas season is here. The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” hitmaker made an official announcement to kick off the holidays in partnership with Sephora.

“Halloween slayed,” Carey says in the Joseph Kahn-directed ad that dropped as Halloween (Oct. 31) came to a close. “But now … it’s time!”

There’s one problem: Someone’s rummaged through the pop diva’s Sephora bag and pilfered the new beauty goodies she snagged for the 2025 holidays.

In the lighthearted spot, Carey demands someone spill the tea on who stole her makeup so she can ring in the season of her modern Christmas carol, and — spoiler alert — it’s not the Grinch.

It’s Billy Eichner as an overworked elf advocating for better treatment at Christmastime.

“Bad news, Mariah Carey,” the comedian taunts. “The elves are striking this year. Elf revenge for putting us through holiday hell! Santa’s helper quit. I’m pawning this so I can afford elf therapy!”

“That’s my blush, elf boy,” Carey says.

“Your lipstick? I’m taking it. No bells. No cheer. No glam. Bye, sweetie,” Eichner throws back.

The Christmas commercial comes right after Carey dropped a collection of holiday merch, like a snow globe that plays “All I Want for Christmas Is You”; a Christmas sweater, earmuffs, socks, pajamas, robe and slippers; ornaments and stockings; holiday baking supplies and a large inflatable lawn decoration. Mariah might not “want a lot for Christmas,” but she’s given fans plenty to add to their Amazon wish lists.

Watch Carey’s “It’s Time!!!!!” announcement below to find out how she saves Christmas from being canceled. Oh, and go ahead and press play on her classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” the song that Christmas music lovers have listened to enough to make it Carey’s longest Hot 100 reign (with 18 total weeks at No. 1, four of which were just last year).

Mariah Carey Dodges Questions About Ex-Husband Nick Cannon Insuring His Testicles For $10 Million

When it comes to her ex-husband #NickCannon, #MariahCarey is pleading the fifth.

The Grammy Award winner, who recently released her sixteenth studio album Here for It All, had nothing more to say than “Lord, help me,” when asked about the $10 million insurance policy Nick said he placed on his testicles. Her opinion on the matter, or lack thereof, was shared during a chat with Andy Cohen for Watch What Happens Live. When asked if Nick’s privates are worth so much money, Mariah laughed and said, “I’ve got to go to the next question.”

Over the summer, Nick, who is a father of 12, explained his interesting decision, saying, “I had to insure my most valuable assets. Because you hear about all these different celebrities insuring their legs… so I was like, ‘Hey, well, I got to insure my most valuable body part.’”

Could you see yourself insuring your most “valuable asset” for $10 million???

Mariah Carey: Here for It All Album Review

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

“I don’t acknowledge time,” is one of the first things Mariah Carey sings on her new album, Here for It All. Within the larger scheme of her public persona, this has come to be a refrain, a fun fact about her that is oft repeated in interviews. Her aversion to time is one of her diva affectations, like punctuating sentences with dahling or insisting on being photographed from the right, such that when she appears on Watch What Happens Live, she takes Andy Cohen’s usual seat. There are obvious reasons why someone of Carey’s superstar stature would ignore the clock. One is plausible deniability when she shows up late for an appointment. Another is that time is held against pop stars, especially women, whose years of hard work are met with apathy or even contempt as they age out of charting on Billboard. It’s just not fair. If Carey can’t bend the world to her will, she can at least blank out its needless punishment.

Time, on the other hand, does acknowledge Mariah Carey, and that’s made clear on Here for It All. Her voice, a force of nature that launched her career into the stratosphere, is often hoarse on the album. At times, her rasp flirts with an alternate key. Whereas in the past Carey’s voice glided between notes as though her saliva were silicone based, here it sometimes trips. There are plenty of the kind of creamy, luscious vocals Carey’s known for on Here for It All, particularly when she projects from her chest. Sometimes she still soars. But her vocal roughness is too frequent to be an oversight. It’s unlikely that she just didn’t feel like doing another take, given the perfectionism evinced throughout her career. No, this is Carey opting for realistic portraiture of where she is now as a singer, and if her voice sounds blown out, well, of course it does after singing with the force she has for decades. The grit is alluring, bringing a tear-stained realness to her vulnerable lyrics and teasing out the soul of Paul McCartney and Wings’ previously easy-listening ballad “My Love.” Carey’s raw-piped cover saps much of the song’s schmalz, giving it an unlikely edge.

The voice, and Carey’s decision to spotlight where she is (which, whether she admits it or not, is a tacit acknowledgment of time), is the boldest of Here for It All’s moves, a kind of no-makeup sound for a persona devoted to glamour. The album is otherwise a pleasant collection of the kind of well-constructed melodies that typify Carey’s output. It leans toward a full-band sound, particularly on its collaborations with Anderson .Paak and Carey’s bandleader Daniel Moore II, though there are bassy electronic ballads as well, like the skittery opener “Mi,” the lovely Caribbean-kissed single “Sugar Sweet,” and the deliciously petty “Confetti and Champagne,” a fuck-you to an ex in which Carey proclaims, “Cheers cheers cheers cheers cheers/To me, not you, just me.” It sounds crafted to become an audio meme.

Mariah Carey ‘Flowers’ Interview With SZA: Watch

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Mariah Carey got her Flowers on Wednesday: She appeared on Apple Music’s Flowers as the series’ first guest, where she was interviewed by SZA for the livestreamed event.

The pair were in the studio the night before, SZA revealed during their conversation, where they listened to Carey’s new album and also discussed Carey’s secret “grunge” album she recorded back in the late Nineties, Someone’s Ugly Daughter, which she recorded under the name Chick and recorded as she was making 1995’s Daydream.

As for her new material, Carey revealed her favorite song from the new effort is the title track from Here for It All. “That’s my favorite, and that’s why I named it Here for It All ‘cause I didn’t want people to pass it by,” Carey said. “Because I was going to put it as the end song, and then I did, just to make sure people heard it.” Later, the played a snippet of the track, with SZA commenting about the gospel breakdown in it.

They also discussed Carey’s faith and the track “Jesus I Do,” which features the Clark Sisters, who Carey said she had been “worshipping for years and years.”

SZA asked about Carey’s note choices, which Carey said comes as she’s writing. “It’s interesting, because a lot of it’s born when I’m writing the song, you know. And there’s a melody that is just come to me,” she said. “And it stays in the song and it, you know, when the song becomes whatever it’s going to become, that’s it.”

As for her ad-libs, she added: “I don’t know that I think about it. It’s just something that comes to me during the the moment of creating the song. So it’s all one thing is what I was trying to say before. … But, yeah, it’s all one moment for me most of the time.”

At one point, SZA asked Carey what “the most important thing that your mother taught you about life and about music and singing in general?” Carey’s mother Patricia was an opera singer and vocal coach. Patricia died in August 2024, the same day Carey’s estranged sister, Alison, died. “We had a very interesting relationship, and then she just passed away last year,” Carey said of her mother.

“I think one of the main things that she said, the one thing she said to me, and it was clear, and it was right there, she said, ‘Don’t say if I make it, say when I make it,” she continued, which brought tears to her eyes.

The full taped livestream is currently available to Apple Music subscribers. Carey’s 16th studio album, Here for It All, arrives on Friday.

Mariah Carey, GloRilla And More

The 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival, presented by Capital One, saw some of music’s biggest names hit the stage two nights in a row at the Las Vegas T-Mobile Arena on Sept. 19 and 20. This year’s eclectic lineup included Hip-Hop and R&B stars BigXthaPlug, GloRilla, LL COOL J, Mariah Carey and more.

Night one alone was stacked with moments, but night two saw Carey remind fans why she is, and forever will be, the ultimate icon.

Carey opened the show with “Fantasy,” instantly bringing fans back to her ‘90s era, before transitioning into a mash-up of “Honey” and “Heartbreaker.” She followed up with a live rendition of “My All,” before moving over into 2000s bops like “Touch My Body” and “Obsessed.” Showing that she still has “it,” Carey debuted “Type Dangerous,” the lead single from her upcoming album Here For It All, which is set to drop next week.

The closer, Big Glo, shut down the final night of the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival with a set that was high-energy from start to finish. She came out swinging with “Blessed” before running through crowd favorites like “Hollon,” “Tomorrow,” “Wanna Be,” and her Big Boogie collab “Bop.”

The momentum didn’t let up as she also performed the Moneybagg Yo-assisted “All Dere,” “Typa,” and “Whatchu Know About Me” — although Sexyy Red didn’t join her on stage. To conclude her set, Glo sent the crowd home with her anthems “FNF (Let’s Go!),” “TGIF,” and “Yeah Glo!”

For anyone who couldn’t make it to Sin City, iHeart is packaging the weekend into a special set to hit Hulu on October 2, giving fans a front-row seat to one of the most stacked festivals of the year. Take a look at some moments from the two-night event below.

The MTV VMAs 2025 was full of fire performances and big wins, from Mariah Carey taking home the Video Vanguard award to KATSEYE bringing “Gnarly” to the pre-show stage, to Alex Warren sharing how he prepared for his number to Tate McRae’s steamy performance, we’re taking you through everything you missed from the night!

LL Cool J: I think there’s so many different fans that are gonna be watching for so many different reasons. I just want all of those fans to get to see their favorites.

Tetris Kelly: The MTV VMAs just took over New York and from rehearsals to the carpet to Sunday night’s big show, performances and winners, we got all you missed in Billboard All Access.

Doja Cat shook the crowd with new music, as Tate McRae wowed with her usual mesmerizing choreo you. The show’s producer talked about the juggernaut of putting on this show.

Van Toffler: It’s really a crazy week leading up to the VMAs because kind of anything can go wrong from people missing their planes to now getting the COVID, technical problems, and it’s hundreds of people involved, so it gets messy and long and hairy, but it’s mostly fun because anything can happen in a live show.

[In 2013] Miley Cyrus’ big teddy bear couldn’t open up, so she couldn’t come out of the teddy bear. We couldn’t fit Bruno’s whole band on the stage, or get Justin pyro, so anything can happen. The most grueling is pretty much the Vanguard Award, because they are the longest and we use the entirety of the stage.

Tetris Kelly: Mariah Carey received the Vanguard Award and delighted the crowd with nothing but hits. Ariana Grande presented the icon. She also won for her music video, “Type Dangerous.”

Keep watching for more!

Mariah Carey Video Vanguard Award Speech

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Mariah Carey‘s latest achievement was far from a fantasy.

After all, the “Obsessed” singer accepted the highest achievement at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7: the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

With over three decades in the music industry, 16 solo studio albums and six Grammy wins, Mariah was honored with the lifetime achievement award by Ariana Grande. With the singer winning her first-ever VMA this year for her track “Type Dangerous,” she had a special message for the award show.

“I just had one question,” Mariah—who earned her first of nine nominations in 1996—began. “What in the Sam Hill were you waiting for?”

It was all in jest, however, with her quickly adding, “I’m kidding. I love you!”

As Mariah accepted the award, she reflected on her attendance at the award show, including her presenting host LL Cool J with his Vanguard Award in 1997 and opening the 1998 ceremony with a “faux standoff” with Whitney Houston.

Mariah Carey Performs Video Vanguard Medley at VMAs

by jummy84 September 8, 2025

On an evening in which she was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Mariah Carey delivered a career-spanning, thoroughly enjoyable medley of hits old and new — and earned a personal tribute from Ariana Grande — at the MTV Video Music Awards, held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y. on Sunday night (Sept. 7.).

“She’s given us an anthem for every single occasion,” Grande, who tapped Carey for a “Yes, And?” remix last year, told the arena to introduce the Video Vanguard performance. The Wicked superstar added, “As a vocalist, there’s only one queen, and that’s Mariah.”

With that, Carey started off the medley with her feathery recent single “Sugar Sweet,” joined by a pair of male dancers in a bedroom backdrop, before the beat abruptly cut to Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s boisterous intro to the “Fantasy” remix. The entire medley functioned as a showcase to Carey’s range as a pop superstar, with “Heartbreaker” getting a roller rink routine (and someone playing Bianca, her alter ego from the video), “Obsessed” featuring a masked menace, and “It’s Like That” bringing its finger-snaps into a ballroom, complete with elegant choreography and playful vocals.

Eventually, “We Belong Together” served as a centerpiece of sorts, with Carey backed by a string orchestra and the applause turning raucous as Grande returned to the stage to hand the superstar her award. Carey and Grande blew each other air kisses, and Grande bowed down to her friend before ceding the stage to Carey, who turned to Grande and proclaimed, “I’m so grateful for you and I’m beyond proud of everything you’ve achieved, girl!”

Carey’s acceptance speech was relatively short, but touched upon her history at the VMAs — including a performance alongside the late Whitney Houston, and her own presentation of the Video Vanguard award to the 2025 ceremony host, LL Cool J — as well as her deep appreciation of the music video as a modern art form. “Music evolves, videos evolve — but the fun, that is eternal!” Carey declared before thanking her fans, the Lambily.

Carey also plugged her upcoming album, Here For It All, during the speech; her first studio album in seven years will be released on Sept. 26, and will include “Sugar Sweet” as well as the previously released single “Type Dangerous.”

Mariah Carey Will Receive Video Vanguard Award at 2025 MTV VMAs

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

MTV has named Mariah Carey its 2025 Video Vanguard Award recipient. The seven-time MTV Video Music Award nominee will perform a medley of her biggest hits when the show airs live on CBS from UBS Arena in New York on Sept. 7.

The coveted award will be the first VMA the musician has received in her storied career. Carey is nominated this year in the Best R&B Video category for her action flick-themed video for “Type Dangerous.” It’s her first nomination as a lead artist since she was up for Best Female Video for “Touch My Body” in 2008. Other highlight career moments, including “Shake It Off” and “We Belong Together,” earned nods over the years, but the Moonmen never made their way to her.

The honor comes at a prime time for Carey, who will release her 16th studio album Here for It All on Sept. 26. The record marks her first since 2018’s Caution. Though she has largely kept details about the project under wraps, she did share another preview on her latest single “Sugar Sweet” with Shenseea and Kehlani.

For her Video Vanguard Award performance, Carey has quite a few options. She could dominate the performance on her own, with plenty of solo hits to fill the space, but her collaborative well runs deep, too. There’s Busta Rhymes, Boyz II Men, Latto, Miguel, Jadakiss, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, and more who could join her for the set.

Earlier this year, Carey similarly received her first-ever BET Award when she was honored with the BET Ultimate Icon Award. “My life and career have been quite the adventure,” Carey said during her speech. “It took me a while, but I realized life is far too short to live for anyone else’s approval.”

Trending Stories

Both awards follow Carey’s second shutout from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Carey follows recent Video Vanguard Award recipients Katy Perry, Shakira, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, P!nk, and Rihanna.
