bitchy | Duchess Meghan’s As Ever holiday collection includes $64 candles

There’s a tendency, from the usual suspects, to cry about the Duchess of Sussex’s lack of success in between her massively successful As Ever product drops. Those people have just decided, without evidence, that As Ever is not doing well, or that Meghan’s brand is in shambles. When really, the progression of As Ever has been quite organic and massively successful from the word go. Yesterday, Meghan launched As Ever’s holiday collection. People could buy a gift box full of multiple fruit spreads (jams), new jars of honey, a Spiced Cider mulling kit, a Hot Toddy mulling kit, and significantly (for me!) there was finally a restock on the much-loved raspberry jam. If you buy the jam gift box, you can also try a new flavor: strawberry!!

But people are talking about two other new items on offer: As Ever candles. One candle is No. 084, which is Meghan’s birthday (August 4) and the other candle is No. 519, named after the Sussexes’ wedding date. Both candles are $64. Now… I’m a candle person, I burn candles by my desk as I work/write most days. It’s calming and I love the scent. Because I’m burning candles for at least four hours every day, I do tend to buy the less expensive ones. I’ve experimented with some of the more expensive ones here and there and they’re nice, but so are the “cheaper” ones if you know enough to go by certain brand names. Basically, I gulped at the price and decided maybe I should do without. I did order a jam gift box and a raspberry restock though. Please let me know if the candles smell nice! I got some FOMO when I saw how many people were buying the candles and if they’re still in stock in a week, I might order one (the No. 084).

And yes, I know that As Ever candles are in the “nice candle” price range, if you’re comparing them to Jo Malone or what have you. Stop calling me broke-ass! I’m not broke, I’m just too cheap to spend $60-plus dollars on a candle! There’s a difference! Still, I really do want to hear about how the candles smell and if people like them.

bitchy | Duchess Meghan’s As Ever product drop today will include candles & a new wine

The Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever brand is doing a product drop today, in a short time. The items will apparently come online at noon on the East coast, 9 am on the West coast. I had my fingers crossed for a raspberry jam restock and I was hoping for some interesting new products. I didn’t expect Meghan to venture into candles! And mulled wine! And more! Women’s Wear Daily got a preview of the new As Ever items:

Meghan Markle has introduced the first holiday collection from her lifestyle brand, As Ever, marking the label’s expansion since its launch this past spring. Available exclusively on asever.com, the curated range includes candles, California-harvested honey, artisanal fruit spreads, mulling spice kits, and a limited-edition sparkling wine from Napa Valley.

The collection is inspired by the spirit of gifting and gatherings, reflecting the brand’s focus on home, celebration and everyday ritual. Among the highlights are two hand-poured candles crafted in California. Signature Candle No. 519, named after Markle’s wedding date (May 19) with Prince Harry, features Moroccan mint and white tea notes, while Candle No. 084 draws from her Aug. 4 birthday and carries hints of sandalwood, lotus and poppy. Both are housed in ceramic vessels and inspired by personal memories.

Also new this season is the 2021 Vintage Napa Valley Brut ($89), produced using the traditional méthode champenoise from pinot noir and chardonnay grapes. The sparkling offers crisp notes of green apple, pear and citrus, presented in a matte black bottle embossed with gold details.

Gift-ready provisions round out the line. The Fruit Spread Gift Set ($42) includes raspberry, orange marmalade, and a new strawberry variety made with simple, fruit-based recipes. The Honey Duo Gift Set ($62) contains Wildflower and Orange Blossom honeys sourced entirely from California apiaries, while Sage Honey with Honeycomb ($32) offers a raw, textured alternative tied to the herbs grown in Markle’s own garden.

Finally, two seasonal mulling kits — Spiced Cider and Hot Toddy ($16 each) — blend cinnamon, citrus peel, and ginger for home entertaining.

[From WWD]

You don’t understand, I’m THRILLED that she’s doing candles now. More candles! Everyone loves a candle and so many people give candles as gifts. I’m sure the honey-enjoyers will love the new honey offerings, and I’m sure that’s what will sell out the fastest too. Friendships will be broken over that honey, I’m sure – people are always fighting over it! The fact that Meghan is now on her fourth wine drop is amazing, and it shows that she has a real “taste” for what people want to drink. Are we only able to get the raspberry jam as part of a gift set? OMG. I can’t wait to buy some of this stuff.

Update: $64 for a little candle???? Nah. But raspberry jam is FINALLY back in stock! And some of those boxes will make nice Christmas presents.

Top Fall 2025 Candles to Make Your Home Feel October

Still, nothing tricks us into the spirit of autumn quite like scent. The smell of spiced apples and burnt sugar sends us right into an episode of Gilmore Girls, even if we’re in shorts. That’s probably why candle sales spike in the fall. According to the National Candle Association, more than 35% of candle sales happen in the fourth quarter, with many candle brands beginning to see major increases in September.

AIIMS gastroenterologist shares 3 everyday household items to throw away immediately: Scented candles to non-stick pans

Even everyday kitchen items can hide health risks. AIIMS gastroenterologist highlights 3 common household products that should be discarded immediately.

Even in clean, well-kept homes, hidden health hazards can lurk in everyday items. Some seemingly harmless products may irritate your gut or affect overall wellness. Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford Universities, shares in his September 12 Instagram post 3 toxic household items to throw away immediately. (Also read: AIIMS gastroenterologist warns ‘don’t spend more than 10 minutes on toilet’; shares 8 simple tips for healthy gut )

1. Regular scented candles

“Many of these contain phthalates, which can disrupt hormones, and paraffin wax, which can release soot and VOCs when burned,” says Dr Saurabh. He adds, “These chemicals can aggravate allergies, respiratory issues, and even impact gut health over time.” Quoting some better options, he suggests, “unscented soy, coconut, or beeswax candles, which are cleaner-burning and safer for daily use.”

2. Plastic cutting boards

“Knife marks can shed tiny plastic particles into your food. The risk builds up over years of use,” says Dr Sethi. He explains that these microplastics can accumulate in the body and potentially affect long-term health. Better options, he adds, are well-maintained wood or bamboo boards. “Glass is hygienic but dulls knives quickly, so it’s not always practical,” he notes.

3. Scratched or chipped non-stick pans

“Older pans often use PFOA, which is linked to reproductive and hormonal issues. Modern non-stick pans are PFOA-free but scratches can still release microscopic coating particles plus any additives trapped inside,” says Dr Sethi. He recommends safer alternatives, sharing, “Stainless steel, cast iron, or pure ceramic cookware are much better options for everyday cooking and long-term health.”

Festive gifting guide 2025: Make the celebrations memorable with candles, hampers, plants and more for your loved ones

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

The festive season is here, and it is time to think beyond the usual mithai boxes and cards. 2025 is all about gifts that feel personal, stylish, and a little indulgent.

A curated festive hamper, scented candles, and stylish plants create a joyful and personalised gifting experience for the season.

Gift-giving has been growing as a festive trend over the past few years. Diwali party favours are becoming essential for hosts looking to impress guests, while Navratri hampers for kanjaks are gaining popularity as thoughtful, curated treats for young visitors. From housewarming gifts to celebration goodies, people are increasingly exploring creative ways to make every occasion memorable with a little extra flair.

We have rounded up the top five gifting ideas that will make your loved ones smile and your festive game flawless.

1. Candles that shine bright

Candles are a vibe. Brass candles, in particular, bring a touch of sophistication to any space. They are the perfect way to elevate the festive mood and add grace and charm to your tables and nooks. Lighting a candle during celebrations creates warmth and a sense of ceremony, making it one of the easiest gifts to impress anyone.

2. Diffusers for a luxurious home

A home that smells divine is always welcome. Aroma diffusers and wax melt diffusers are trending this year because they add a splash of luxury to everyday life. Every sniff becomes a little indulgence, and these gifts keep giving long after the festive lights have dimmed. Tiny bottles of joy for someone’s personal space never go out of style.

3. Curated gifting hampers

Hampers are the ultimate way to show thoughtfulness. Shruti Agarwal, a gifting startup owner, shares, “People give us orders for hampers we curate as per their budget, but many also order empty hampers to fill at their own will. The festive season is huge for gifting, and everyone wants to match their Pinterest boards to perfection.” You can mix candles, gourmet treats, quirky trinkets, or even a mini plant to create a gift that feels entirely customised.

4. Plants for conscious gifting

Green is the new gold when it comes to thoughtful gifting. Curated plants, such as Jade or peace lilies, are perfect for a stylish and sustainable gesture. Pragya Mishra, founder of a nursery named Upvanam, says, “Plants make great gifts. We curate terrariums, designer pots with festive motifs, and even wine glass arrangements to create an eco-friendly gifting experience. One can never have too many plants.” They add freshness, personality, and a touch of sustainability to any home.

5. Online gifting made simple and stylish

Online gifting has made festive shopping effortless and fun. From the comfort of your home, you can explore countless unique items, compare options, and have gifts delivered ready to impress. The convenience also allows you to personalise choices and add quirky touches that make your presents memorable. Some top online gifting ideas this festive season include:

  • Designer table linens and festive cushions to spruce up any home
  • Artisanal chocolates and gourmet treats for a sweet surprise
  • Handcrafted journals, notebooks, and personalised stationery
  • Stylish kitchen gadgets or barware for friends who love entertaining
  • Customisable wall art or photo frames for a personal touch
  • Unique party favours and celebration gifts that wow guests

This festive season, pick gifts that balance style, function, and thoughtfulness. Every present is an opportunity to create joy. A flickering brass candle, a fragrant diffuser, a lush plant, a curated hamper, or a quirky online find can make celebrations feel special. Festive gifting is no longer just about ticking boxes; it is about creating moments that make your loved ones feel celebrated.
