The Soft-Luxury Lifestyle: Why Everyone Is Choosing Calm Over Chaos in 2025

by jummy84 December 6, 2025
written by jummy84

If 2024 was all about bold wellness trends and high-intensity routines, 2025 has officially entered its soft-luxury era a lifestyle vibe where calm, comfort, and quiet indulgence are the new status symbols.

Think: slow mornings, clean spaces, warm lighting, intentional shopping, curated playlists, and a mindset that says “less, but better.” It’s not minimalism, and it’s not maximalism it’s intentional living with personality.

The soft-luxury lifestyle is inspired by a mix of Scandinavian comfort, Japanese simplicity, and the new American wave of “quiet confidence.” It’s about building a life that feels good from the inside out, not one that simply looks good on social media.

TikTok creators call it “soft living with edge”  cozy but cool, peaceful but stylish, grounded but aspirational. And honestly? It’s the lifestyle shift many people didn’t know they needed.

Here’s what defines the trend:

Home as a sanctuary
People are investing in quality pieces: plush throws, ceramic mugs, gentle textures, and calming scents. The goal is to walk into your home and instantly breathe out.

Rituals over routines
Matcha in the morning, digital sunsets at night, skincare that feels like self-care instead of a 20-step marathon.

Health without the hustle
Balanced meals, long walks, stretching, hydration, simple habits with big impact.

Fashion that feels as good as it looks
Think soft knits, buttery neutrals, timeless silhouettes, and quiet-luxury accessories.

Reset days becoming normal
People are actually scheduling rest  and treating it as a power move, not a lazy one.

At its core, the soft-luxury lifestyle is about choosing peace in a world that thrives on pressure. It’s giving yourself permission to slow down, breathe deeper, and enjoy the small things without guilt.

And the best part?
It’s accessible to everyone.
Soft luxury isn’t about money, it’s about intention.

2025 is officially the year we stop chasing burnout and start choosing balance. And honestly, it looks (and feels) iconic.

Netflix, Calm, and Train Dreams: Marketing While You Sleep

Netflix, Calm, and Train Dreams: Marketing While You Sleep

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Points for creativity: Netflix partnered with mental wellness app Calm to create an immersive audio experience inspired by its Oscar-aspiring “Train Dreams.” The collaboration, launching today, represents Netflix’s first venture on the Calm platform and a potential blueprint for how specialty films can cut through the noise by targeting audiences when they’re asleep.

The 20-minute “Sleep Story x Soundscape” hybrid transforms Clint Bentley’s drama into a meditative audio journey, featuring narrator Will Patton alongside the film’s original score and sound design. Adapted from Denis Johnson’s Pulitzer-nominated novella about a railroad laborer in the early 20th century American West, “Train Dreams” explores themes of solitude, loss, and resilience — the kind of contemplative territory where Calm’s 100 million users already spend their time.

IN YOUR DREAMS - In Your Dreams is a comedy adventure about Stevie (12) and her little brother Elliot (8) who journey into the absurd landscape of their own dreams. If the siblings can withstand a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods, and the queen of nightmares, the Sandman will grant them their ultimate dream come true... the perfect family. Cr: Netflix © 2025

The Calm team worked with the film’s sound designer, Lee Salevan, and composer Bryce Dessner, utilizing the film’s sound stems and score cues overlaid with sections of dialogue from Bentley and Greg Kwedar’s script.

The odds are stacked against independent and specialty films capturing audience attention. However, this may represent a new kind of counterprogramming: Rather than shout louder, this collaboration markets while you sleep.

Calm previously collaborated with superhero franchises like “Venom: The Last Dance” (voiced by Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom), but this is the first film partnership to create one of its Sleep Stories.

Calm has also previously created Sleep Stories from public-domain classics like “Pride and Prejudice” and “The Wizard of Oz,” and enlisted talent like Walton Goggins and Lin-Manuel Miranda to narrate original Sleep Stories like “The Yard Sale” and “Adventures in Puerto Rico.”

The film stars Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, and William H. Macy, with Patton’s narration carrying over to the Calm experience. The distribution strategy extends beyond Calm’s app, with Netflix sharing the soundscape across YouTube, Instagram, and X.

Feeling stressed and out of focus? Yoga expert shares 3 breathing exercises to calm your mind

Add gentle breathing exercises to your routine to combat stress. Find out which ones you can try at home.

Stress is a natural biological response, initiating the fight or flight response when a threat is perceived. But lately, lifestyles are becoming more and more hectic with ‘threats’ looming everywhere, frantic deadlines at work, family responsibilities, peer pressure, and so on. When you are stressed, you feel scattered and out of focus. This perpetual state of stress is not damaging to health, and you are more likely to fall sick.

If you are feeling stressed, consider doing some valuable breathwork exercises which will help to calm down your mind. (Picture credit: Shutterstock)

A study from February 2024 revealed that chronic stress extensively affects the immune system, altering cognitive functions. A previous HT Lifestyle interview from January 2025 with a cardiologist pointed out to stress’s life-threatening impact, highlighting that acute stress is a direct trigger for a heart attack.

Stress regulation is non-negotiable for maintaining both physical and mental well-being. In a daily routine, including easy stress-bursting techniques may help to alleviate the turbulent mental and physical state stress may create.

Global yoga educator and founder of Akhanda Yoga Institute, Dr Yogrishi Vishvketu (PhD), with 45 years of experience in yoga practice and teaching, shared with HT Lifestyle about breathwork techniques and how they play a role in lowering stress levels.

He said, “Your breath can heal and enhance your entire system.” The yoga expert suggested that the benefits extend to different areas of life and professions, calling yogic breathwork techniques a ‘game-changer.’ “In high-performance arenas, whether on the sports field or in the boardroom, breath can be the ultimate game-changer.”

Dr Yogrishi Vishvketu shared 3 breathing exercises with us, listing out the health value and how one can do them at home:

1. Longer exhale-to-inhale ratio

Value:

  • Breathing in a 4-count inhale, 6-count exhale ratio activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering resting heart rate and grounding energy.
  • This rhythm calms mental, helps with high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.

How to try at home:

  • Sit comfortably with eyes softened, gazing at a single point.
  • Inhale for a steady count of 2–3–4, then exhale for 2–3–4–5–6. Repeat 4–5 times.
  • Afterwards, gently exhale with your mouth open, releasing any tension, and allow the body to calm.

2. Kapalbhati kriya

Value:

  • This dynamic, exhalation-focused practice sweeps away mental “noise” and heightens concentration.

How to try at home:

  • Sit tall with palms resting on your belly, thumbs pointing upward. As you exhale, use your hand to help the belly draw in.
  • Focus mainly on the exhalation; the inhalation will happen naturally.
  • Begin slowly, then gradually lengthen and deepen your exhale as you build comfort.

3. Active Anuloma Viloma

Value:

  • A faster-paced alternate nostril sequence balances brain hemispheres while grounding, energising, and sharpening clarity.
  • For those experiencing anxiety or overwhelm, slowing Anuloma Viloma can restore calm and deeper grounding.

How to try at home:

  • Bring your right hand to your nose. Close the left nostril and exhale through the right, then switch fingers to close the right nostril and exhale through the left.
  • Inhale gently into your belly through one nostril, and exhale out the other, keeping the breath silent and smooth.
  • Practise at least 11 rounds to feel cleansed and centred.

Diwali 2025: Veterinarian doctor shares 5 tips to keep pets calm and safe from fireworks sounds

Happy Diwali 2025! Pet parents prepare in advance before Diwali evening to ensure your dogs and cats stay calm and stress-free.

Diwali 2025: The festival of light is a celebration for all of us, full of excitement and illumination, but when celebrated with crackers, many are excluded from joy. For many, bursting crackers are synonymous with Diwali celebrations. Besides the most immediate consequence, which is the emission of polluted gas, the loud sounds also overwhelmingly impact vulnerable groups, like elderly people and pets at home.

Dogs, anyway, have a heightened sense of hearing, so the sounds are intensely overstimulating for them. They become frightened, cowering in corners, trying to hide.

To address this concern of pet parents, HT Lifestyle spoke to Dr Deepak Saraswat, head vet at Zigly, who pointed out that noise sensitivity in pets can make Diwali stressful for them.

“Diwali brings bright sparkles and joy, but for dogs, the loud firecrackers can be quite stressful. Noise sensitivity in pets can make this festive time tough for our furry friends,” the vet shared.

The way forward is to ensure that pets feel comfortable and secure amid the celebrations. Typically, Diwali evening sees a series of explosions with people everywhere bursting crackers at the same time. There’s no breather space, but just constant explosive noises. This can be very disorienting and anxiety-inducing for dogs.

Veterinarian doctor Saraswat shared 5 tips for pet parents so that they can prepare beforehand and reduce their pet’s stress:

1. Make a quiet, safe place

  • Create a quiet space in your home, not near windows or doors. Put your dog’s favourite bed, blankets, and toys to make it warm and inviting.
  • Closing curtains and closing windows are good at muffling large noises and protecting from flashing lights. This may calm your dog when the celebrations get noisy.

2. Use soothing sounds

  • Play calming music or switch on the television in the background to drown out firework noises.
  • Soft tunes or pet playlists reduce anxiety and distract your dog from sudden booms.
  • This creates a more peaceful indoor environment and helps your pet relax during peak cracker hours.

3. Keep close and comfort your dog

  • Being in their presence does matter. Spend more time with them nearby, offer gentle cuddles, and console your dog if he/she seem to be tense.
  • Some dogs enjoy massages or snuggle sessions, monitor their reaction, and calm them down in a way that they like.
  • Please don’t leave them at home alone, especially on late nights when crackers are most potent.

4. Schedule early walks and limit time outdoors

  • Organise walks early morning or during quieter periods, far from cracker spurts.
  • Always keep your dog on a leash and avoid noisy, crowded areas.
  • For safety, it is best not to take your dog out when there are likely to be fireworks, and ensure home doors and gates are shut to avoid accidental release.

5. Use calming products if necessary

  • If your dog is excessively anxious, consider using calming products like anxiety vests, or pheromone diffusers that your vet recommends.
  • These provide soothing comfort through pressure or calming fragrances.
  • Be sure to consult your vet first before attempting new remedies, and have your pet’s water bowl full to help alleviate stress and dehydration.

From tea rituals to baking: 6 very simple mindful activities to calm the mind

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

When life becomes loud and uncertain, simple daily living habits can help slow the mind down. Many successful people spend time on simple pastimes to find some peace of mind and keep their focus. Such leisure activities usually don’t take up a huge amount of time or energy, but they can certainly help in maintaining some level of calm and equilibrium.

Know simple daily living habits that can really help you in slowing the mind down.(Picture credit: Freepik)

Experts recommend that engaging in short, mindful practices can alleviate stress and compartmentalize the ordinary stress of life into manageable and comfortable components.

Finding calm in simple habits

The following are some simple activities to calm your mind, according to Healthline.com.

Chopping therapy: Chopping or cooking vegetables can be a calming experience. The act of slicing and producing food allows you to be calm and reflective. It is not about the food itself; the focus is fluid and intentional.

Tea rituals: Tea preparation rituals also allow us to slow down. Boiling water, steeping the tea leaves, and waiting for the right sipping temperature help with mindfulness and the present moment. Watching the steam rise brings our thoughts and focus away from stress or tension to presence or stillness. Loose-leaf teas from either green or oolong are often selected for their soothing properties.

Gardening: This additional activity can really help bring us back into nature. Many people who garden, teach, and work with herbs like basil, mint, or thyme provide a sense of accomplishment and peace. The process of developing a plant over time illustrates the virtue of being patient to receive results.

Penning the thoughts: Another great method to declutter your mind is by writing down your thoughts in a journal or using handwritten notes. Writing down thoughts will help you unpack emotions and organize busy thoughts.

Tech-free walks: Taking a walk without your cell phone or listening to music through headphones allows you to declutter as well, while you walk, and let your mind just rest. Your brain might be in a good position to slow down and let the creative juices flow!

Food art and baking: For some, sketching food or baking may be satisfying to aid in the journaling and decluttering process. The act of drawing your meal or kneading that piece of dough allows you to focus and engage with the larger picture.
