Miss Mexico is crowned Miss Universe at a pageant where she stood up to a host’s bullying

BANGKOK — Fátima Bosch Fernández of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2025 on Friday, a dramatic victory for a 25-year-old at the center of the turbulent 74th staging of the popular beauty pageant in Bangkok who stood up to public bullying from one of the hosts.

The first runner-up was 29-year old Praveenar Singh of Thailand and 25-year-old Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser of Venezuela placed third.

Rounding up the finishers were Ahtisa Manalo, 28, of the Philippines, and 27-year-old Olivia Yacé of Ivory Coast who came fifth.

The bad vibes at this year’s event sprang from a sharp-tongued scolding of the Mexican contestant, Bosch, which sparked a controversy marked by a walkout, feminist solidarity and a teary melodramatic apology from the local organizer who set it all off.

At the livestreamed sashing ceremony for virtually all 130 contestants on Nov. 4, Thai national director Nawat Itsaragrisil hectored Bosch for allegedly not following his guidelines for taking part in local promotional activities. He called security when she spoke up to defend herself.

Bosch walked out of the room, joined by several others in a show of solidarity, including Miss Universe 2024, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark.

“What your director did is not respectful: he called me dumb,” an unbowed Bosch told Thai reporters. “If it takes away your dignity, you need to go.”

The Miss Universe Organization president, Mexican businessman Raúl Rocha Cantú, released a statement condemning Nawat’s conduct as “public aggression” and “serious abuse.”

Even Mexico’s first woman president, Claudia Sheinbaum, piled on, saying at a news conference in her country’s capital that she wanted to give “recognition” to Miss Mexico for voicing her disagreement in a “dignified” way.

“It seems to me that it is an example of how women should raise our voices,” Sheinbaum said.

Sheinbaum recalled being told in the past a common phrase that “women look more beautiful when they keep quiet.”

“We women look more beautiful when we raise our voice and participate, because that has to do with the recognition of our rights,” she said.

Nawat later made apologies for his actions, appearing both tearful and defiant at the same time .

“If anyone affected and not comfortable it happened, I am so sorry,” he said in front of the contestants. He then turned to them and said “It’s passed. OK? Are you happy?”

Bosch’s official Miss Universe biography says she studied fashion in Mexico and Italy and has focused on creating sustainable designs and working with discarded materials. It says she has volunteered with sick children, promoted environmental awareness, and engaged in supported migrants and mental health issues.

This year’s competition also saw a report that two judges had quit, with one of them suggesting that there was an element of rigging to the contest. The allegation was denied. Separately, Thai police investigated the alleged illegal promotion of online casinos as part of the event’s publicity, a turn of events that may have been connected with the organizers’ feud.

Mishaps and controversies are not rare for the pageant. The 2021 event attracted criticism because it was held in Israel, to the dismay of supporters of the Palestinian cause.

An example of a minor misstep — literally — occurred Wednesday when Miss Universe Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, fell off the stage during the evening gown competition. She was not badly hurt.

Stranger Things’s Millie Bobby Brown Accuses Co-Star David Harbour of Bullying: How On-Screen Bonds Don’t Always Reflect Real-Life Dynamics

In a development that has sent ripples through Hollywood, Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown has reportedly accused her co-star, David Harbour, of bullying and harassment during the filming of the hit Netflix series. According to reports, the allegations sparked a months-long internal investigation by the streaming giant, casting a shadow over one of television’s most beloved on-screen duos — Eleven and Hopper.

The accusations mark a stark contrast to the father-daughter warmth that defined their relationship on Stranger Things. Fans across the world who had emotionally invested in that dynamic are now grappling with a sense of disillusionment, as the reality behind the scenes appears to be far removed from the camaraderie they saw on screen.

Stranger Things sources say tensions simmered for some time

Sources close to the production revealed that tensions had reportedly been simmering for some time between Brown and Harbour. While details remain under wraps, it is understood that the investigation delved into the alleged instances of verbal and emotional mistreatment. Both actors, however, have remained tight-lipped publicly — a move likely encouraged by contractual and legal constraints.

The news has reignited a larger debate in Hollywood about the pressures of fame, power dynamics on sets, and the fine line between method acting intensity and unprofessional behaviour. David Harbour, known for his immersive and emotionally charged performances, has, in past interviews, admitted to sometimes carrying his character’s emotions into real life. However, whether that intensity crossed into unacceptable territory remains unclear.

Brown, who rose to global fame as a child actor, has previously spoken about the emotional toll of growing up under the spotlight. Having started Stranger Things at just 12, she became both a global icon and a subject of immense media scrutiny. Insiders suggest that her growing sense of independence and confidence over the years might have contributed to the changing dynamic with her older co-stars.

What’s most striking about the current controversy is how it blurs the line between fiction and reality for audiences. The deeply paternal chemistry between Harbour’s Hopper and Brown’s Eleven was a central emotional anchor of the show — one that symbolised safety, love, and redemption. Fans often projected those feelings onto the actors themselves, believing their off-screen relationship mirrored their on-screen bond. But this incident serves as a stark reminder that cinematic relationships, no matter how emotionally convincing, are ultimately scripted performances crafted by writers, directors, and editors.

The emotional connection viewers form with such characters often fuels parasocial relationships — a one-sided sense of friendship or intimacy with public figures. When stories like this surface, it tends to unsettle fans who struggle to separate character personas from the real individuals behind them. The disappointment, in such cases, often stems not just from the alleged misconduct but from a shattered illusion that audiences unconsciously nurture.

Hollywood history is filled with similar instances where on-screen harmony belied off-screen discord. From iconic television pairs who barely spoke between takes to entire casts that fractured after shooting wrapped, the entertainment industry has long operated within a space where personal and professional realities seldom align.

It’s important for audiences to understand that actors, despite the empathy they evoke through their roles, are professionals navigating high-pressure environments, creative conflicts, and personal insecurities — just like anyone else. Their job is to make the audience believe in a reality that exists only within the frame, and once the camera stops rolling, they return to their own, often vastly different, lives.

As fans process the news of the alleged rift between Brown and Harbour, it may also be a moment to reflect on our own expectations of celebrities. Admiration need not blur into idealisation. The emotional bonds we form with their characters should inspire us, not entangle us in the messy realities of their personal relationships.

While Stranger Things continues to remain one of Netflix’s biggest cultural phenomena, the controversy surrounding its stars adds an uncomfortable layer to its legacy. Whether the investigation’s findings are ever made public or not, this episode serves as a powerful cultural reminder: the warmth, love, and trust we see on screen are not promises — they are performances.

Bobby Bones on Hilaria Baldwin’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Elimination and ‘Bullying’ Claims

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Bobby Bones has a hot take on Hilaria Baldwin‘s surprise Dancing With the Stars elimination.

“I was reading about Hilaria Baldwin saying she was bullied off of Dancing With the Stars,” Bones began a Monday, October 13, TikTok video. “As somebody who was treated like crap by the hardcore fans of the show, yeah, bullying happens. But you don’t get bullied off the show. You get kicked off the show because nobody voted for you, or you didn’t get scores.”

Noting that Baldwin “was a great dancer” and “came in with a ton of dance experience,” Bones claimed that she was eliminated “because people didn’t like you.”

He explained, “I got, again, bullied like crazy, but people liked me, so I won the show. So, that’s bull crap. Although that’s the meanest fan base of anything ever — Dancing With the Stars, the hardcore fans. People that vote and love the show and have a good time, you guys are cool. But the hardcores? Bad people.”

Despite scoring near the top or in the middle of the leaderboard all season, Baldwin and her pro partner, Gleb Savchenko, were sent home during the October 7 Disney Night episode. In an interview with Us Weekly published on Monday, Baldwin blamed her early exit on social media “mean girls” who voted “for all the other couples except us.”

“Very coordinated, very strategic bullying,” she also said during a Friday, October 10, Instagram Live, per the outlet. “And as I feel the darkness that undoubtedly brings to me, I always want to remember that my life belongs to the whole community and I want to leave a lasting mark of courage to speak up against what is simply wrong.”

Baldwin also told Us Weekly that she has nothing but “wonderful things” to say about dancing on the ABC competition series. “There’s more good people than bad people. And I just want one day that people can just see me and stop, like, the crazy stuff,” she added.

Bones is no stranger to facing DWTS controversy. Fan votes propelled the radio personality and his pro partner, Sharna Burgess, to win Season 27 in 2018, despite receiving lower scores than the other finalists throughout the competition. Changes to the voting system were made after his win, including the introduction of the Judges’ Save, which was removed ahead of Season 32 in 2023.

Last month, Bones admitted that he “cheated” to win DWTS, revealing on Jason Tartick‘s Trading Secrets podcast he would “illegally” practice his dances in another studio after his allocated “four hours a day” with Burgess were up.

“People like traditional dancers. You ain’t gonna like me because I have no idea what I’m doing. I was very transparent about that on the show. Very vulnerable, like, ‘Guys, I’m clueless,’” Bones said. “And the fact that I was winning made it difficult on people who had always watched the show.”

After his win, Bones said he was told by producers that he had the “highest separation ever in the history of that show of votes.” He shared, “I think the quote from one of the executives was, ‘I could have peed on stage in my final dance and won.’ But they never told me that.”

‘Y&R’ Star Tracey Bregman Recalls Getting ‘Death Threats’ for Bullying Beth Maitland on Show

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Tracey Bregman went through some tough times during her early days on The Young and the Restless.

Bregman opened up about the backlash she’s received over the years for playing villain-turned-fan favorite Lauren Fenmore on the Tuesday, August 26, episode of CBS’s Soapy podcast. “Oh, yes. I did. … And then having to be mean to Beth Maitland, I mean, come on,” she recalled.

Bregman stated that having to be mean to Maitland’s Traci Abbott on the show was “very difficult,” as the two actresses are good friends. “And I knew, because we were so close, how she was really feeling about a lot of things,” Bregman said. “And it was a story that was kind of based on her being a little overweight and being conscious about that. And then, I had to say the worst things to her, and Beth will tell you that I cried more than she did over it because I could barely get it out sometimes.”

On the flip side, Bregman said she and Maitland also shared “fun times” while filming, particularly when their characters got into a “physical fight” over Don Diamont‘s Brad Carlton. “But I will tell you, it was a double-edged sword, playing the mean girl, because I would get death threats and people tried to run me off the freeway. It was bad,” she stated. “There were some bad parts of it that I never really talked about, actually. I’ve never really talked about it.”

When asked if she ever went to the show’s producers to complain about her character’s actions, Bregman said, “I didn’t because it was also an extraordinary story for us to play as actors.”

Y&R alum Greg Rikaart said he also worked through similar struggles during his time playing Kevin Fisher on the CBS soap opera. “My experience and my belief on playing a quote-unquote bad guy is that there has to be some vulnerability and humanity underneath the mean thing that is being said or the mean thing that’s being done,” the Soapy podcast cohost shared. “And you having that is probably what made the audience not hate Lauren the way they maybe should have because she was doing these bad things.”

Bregman’s onscreen husband, Christian LeBlanc, also got off to a villainous start playing Michael Baldwin on Y&R. Like Rikaart, LeBlanc said there’s more to antagonists than their not-so-nice behavior.

Noting that he’s been asked whether he prefers to play “a bad guy or a good guy,” LeBlanc shared, “My answer is always, I’d like to play a human person, because there’s always the one who does the bad things for a good reason, and the good things for a bad reason.”

He continued, “That’s the heart of it. And if you’re playing that full-bodied human being, there is a chance for redemption, because that’s part of the human condition.”

Harnaaz Sandhu Stuns With Weight Loss For Baaghi 4 After Bullying For Weight Gain, Gives Priyanka Chopra Vibes

In 2022, Harnaaz Sandhu shared that she faced bullying for her weight gain after winning Miss Universe. But now, her stunning and glamorous look in Baaghi 4 has left fans amazed. Harnaaz Sandhu, who became the third Indian after Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta to win the Miss Universe title in 2021, is now gearing up for her Bollywood debut with Tiger Shroff in Baaghi 4. Once targeted with trolling and body-shaming for her post-pageant weight gain, the actress has now amazed everyone with her remarkable transformation.

Harnaaz Sandhu’s stunning transformation

On August 22, the makers of Baaghi 4 released the song Bahli Sohni, starring Harnaaz Sandhu alongside Tiger Shroff. What grabbed everyone’s attention was Harnaaz’s stunning transformation and glamorous look. Fans even hailed her as the new-age “desi girl.” In the track, she is seen flaunting her toned figure in elegant saree ensembles, with her graceful dance moves and captivating screen presence earning her a flood of admiration and praise.

A video showcasing her looks from the song was shared by an Instagram user, who captioned it: “DESI GIRL FR! Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz, the queen slayed, devoured, mothereddd so harddd! Reminds me so much of Priyanka and Deepika in her latest music video from the upcoming film Baaghi 4!” Complimenting her transformation, one fan asked:

“Wow, when did this happen?” Another wrote: “Her body is bodying back again.” One comment read: “She gives me Priyanka Chopra vibes.” Another added: “She’s giving Sushmita Sen from Main Hoon Na vibes.”

After being crowned Miss Universe in 2021, Harnaaz faced online criticism for gaining weight. During her India tour, her transformed look sparked debates on social media. In April 2022, she disclosed that she was suffering from coeliac disease, a condition that restricts her from eating wheat and several other foods.

Later that year, Harnaaz spoke about her experience of being bullied in an interview with People Magazine. “I was bullied for gaining weight. It was uncomfortable and really surprising to see how people started having their opinions, which should not really matter. It’s not about how you look; it’s about who you are inside, how you treat people, and what you believe in.”

Ashlee Simpson-Ross reflects on ‘insane’ SNL bullying

by jummy84 August 22, 2025

22 August 2025

Ashlee Simpson-Ross experienced an “insane” level of “bullying” after her infamous performance on Saturday Night Live.

Ashlee Simpson-Ross faced a backlash after her 2004 SNL performance

The 40-year-old singer became the first musician to walk out of a performance on SNL back in 2004 when her single Pieces of Me incorrectly began to play before she raised her microphone to perform Autobiography, sparking a huge backlash.

And Ashlee – who returned to the show before the credits rolled to try and explain her decision to lip sync was due to a flare-up of acid reflux – isn’t sure she’d have faced the same level of criticism if something similar happened today.

Speaking on Pod Meets World, she said: “I think it’s a different era … I think during that time, I mean, the bullying was insane.”

Ashlee has felt the need to repeatedly explain herself to people.

She said: “But then my whole life, I had to tell people, ‘Oh, but I perform every night.’ My fans know. I had to know that in my heart.

“Yes, I’ve had ups and downs just like every other human.”

The former Melrose Place actress – who has Bronx, 15, with ex-husband Pete Wentz and Jagger, eight, and Ziggy, three, with spouse Evan Ross – thinks the way the internet responds to public mistakes has evolved “but also it hasn’t in some ways”.

She added: “I think it’s different now. For us, we had the magazines and this. Now everything’s kinda more fleeting.”

At the time, the SNL backlash felt like it was on her “shoulders forever”.

But she added: “And I think now everything is, like, a little bit more fleeting and fast.”

Ashlee has previously spoken of how “cruel” the world felt in the wake of the SNL ridicule.

Speaking on her Ashlee + Evan reality show in E! in 2018, she said: “The world hated me for this SNL moment I had.

“I was such a young girl, and the world can be a cruel place. But I learned at that time in my life to believe in my work and in my album and to get up and keep fighting and carrying on.”

“I had amazing fans that stood by me. And I learned to be strong and stand up for yourself.”
