Rising Bronx Drill Artist Suave Drilly Sh@t & K#lled Outside Parole Office

A rising drill rapper from the Norwood/Bedford Park area was k*lled Wednesday afternoon in Mott Haven, Bronx, authorities confirmed ? The artist, known as Suave Drilly, was sh#t while leaving a parole office and later died at the hospital.

Suave Drilly’s real name was John Martinez. According to the report from Norwood News, he was attacked near Alexander Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard on October 15. (Suave Drilly, drill rap artist from Norwood area, sht ded in the South Bronx.)

As police and parole officers rushed to his aid, Martinez was struck multiple times in the torso. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. (Upon arrival, officers observed a 27-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso… EMS responded … and transported the victim … where he was pronounced deceased.)

Witnesses recalled chaos at the scene. One said, “People were getting close, and they were like back up back up with their guns out.” The report also states that at least three ski-masked assailants fled eastbound on East 132nd Street after the sh*oting.

Martinez was 27 years old. Before his death, he had been involved in legal battles: in 2022, he was among 20 people indicted by the Bronx District Attorney’s office for alleged roles in various sh*otings across the borough. He had also served time after being convicted of first-degree attempted gang *ssault and was paroled in January 2024.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to Martinez’s m*rder. Investigators continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.

BRONX – Loud boos were heard throughout Yankee Stadium as “O Canada” was played before Game 3 of the American League Division Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.

The booing started as anthem singer Graham Rowat was introduced on Tuesday night by the stadium PA announcer. The boos picked up again as the Broadway actor finished his rendition.

The crowd then loudly cheered as a large American flag was unfurled in the outfield as Rowat began singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

“Sports fans are passionate people,” Rowat said when reached by phone later in the evening. “So I can put it down to that, and maybe not any larger event.”

The boo-birds returned in the first inning when Toronto slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer to give the Blue Jays an early lead.

Anthem booing was common throughout North American sports venues last winter due to tariff-related tensions between Canada and the United States. The trend eventually lost steam.

Rowat, from Peterborough, Ont., is now based in the New York area. He works as an audiobook narrator and has performed in productions such as “Guys and Dolls,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

He had performed stadium anthem singings in a group setting before but this was his first solo experience, he said.

Rowat couldn’t hear the boos, he added, because his in-ear monitors essentially sealed off outside sound during his performance.

He said a “polite” staffer at an earlier sound check told him that booing may be a possibility given how it was common at sporting venues earlier in the year.

“If I had not been warned, I probably would have been thrown off,” Rowat said.

Toronto led 6-3 after three innings in the must-win game for the Yankees.

Bronx Building Partially Collapses After Explosion & Officials React

Early Wednesday morning, residents in one Bronx building got a scary awakening — and not from their alarms. It all went down in the Mott Haven section when a sudden explosion rocked a NYCHA apartment complex, sending shock through the community and leaving folks asking, “What just happened?”

Bronx Building Took A Tumble, But We’re Counting Blessings

According to ABC7, the blast happened just after 8 a.m. at the Mitchel Houses, a 17-story NYCHA complex. Officials confirmed it was a gas explosion that led to a partial collapse of the building’s incinerator shaft. Thankfully, no one was injured and no apartments were directly impacted. The rest of the building remained stable, but residents were quickly evacuated and taken to a nearby community center as officials assessed the damage and investigated what caused the incident. Emergency teams were on site immediately, making sure the situation was under control and that everyone was safe.

City Officials Break Their Silence

Public officials wasted no time clocking the collapse and getting the public up to speed. Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, Mayor Eric Adams, and Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker gave quick updates, confirming the explosion and breaking down what caused it. Most importantly, they reassured folks that no one is hurt. City leaders said it could’ve been much worse, from structural collapse details to boiler room connections. Additionally, they’re still looking into the case.

President Vanessa Gibson emphasized just how close the city came to a much worse outcome: “We avoided a major disaster here,” she said, noting that many residents had already left for the day and kids were in school when the explosion hit.

Furthermore, New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed there was “some type of explosion” and that a full investigation is underway to determine what caused it. Later, he added:

“It’s not lost for me that October 1 is the first day that heating is turned on.”

An official later clarified that officials usually test NYCHA boilers over the summer. And, Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker described the scene in clear terms, calling it a “major collapse of a structure attached to this building,” and added that it appeared the explosion took place in a ventilation shaft connected to the boiler room. “Thank God no one was hurt,” Tucker said.
