Finite Films & TV Hires Paddy Hughes In Original Branded Content Push

EXCLUSIVE: British producer Finite Films & TV has appointed Paddy Hughes as Creative Director to shepherd a slate of original branded content.

The BAFTA-nominated Director and Producer – who has worked in television, subscription streaming, digital and commercial content for 20 years – will work alongside Finite founder and executive producer Amy Gardner, and oversee and develop original content partnerships with brands, including projects for digital-first platforms.

Hughes has produced and directed factual entertainment, documentaries and scripted programming for leading distributors such as the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Disney and Sky. He has worked as a producer and director for the likes of Little Dot Studios, Future Studios and Cowshed Collective.

He has also landed series commissions for UK and U.S. channels such as BBC3 and Fullscreen, the latter being 2015 short-form scripted sitcom Jack&Dean of All Trades, starring Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs with Jessica Hynes. In 2018, he was nominated for a BAFTA for BBC3’s Eating with My Ex.

This year, he has focused on branded entertainment for Channel 4, and working with Left Bank Pictures to develop a digital drama slate and strategy. He also founded Romalo Film&Creative, a production start-up servicing branded production, YouTube and films.

His hire comes after Finite launched an unscripted division, with celebrity competition series Wings & Waves, made in partnership with global sportswear brand North Sails. Hughes will seek to strike similar partnerships in his role.

“Paddy brings an extraordinary level of experience and creative vision,” said Gardner. “His passion for premium storytelling and knowledge of brand-driven content aligns perfectly with our ambitions, and his appointment signals an exciting next phase for growing our branded slate.”

“My career has taken me from traditional television into the fast and ever evolving world of digital and branded content,” added Hughes. “Finite have some really interesting clients and I’m excited to shape genre busting work that pushes creative boundaries.”

Finite’s scripted slate features the psychological horror, The Fears, from Doctor Who director Andrew Gunn, and Ben & Lucy, starring Steven Cree and directed by Cora Bissett. It will co-produce the first English-language feature film from director Anu Menon, titled Two of Us, alongside Bright Pictures. The company recently attached writer Sophia Al-Maria to its TV series The Many Lives of Miss K.

Jessica Oyelowo was branded ‘stupid and annoying’ by TV producer after revealing she was pregnant

7 November 2025

Jessica Oyelowo was told by a TV producer that she was “stupid and annoying” after informing him that she was pregnant with her first child.

Jessica Oyelowo was insulted by a TV producer after telling him she was pregnant with her first child

The 46-year-old actress – the wife of Hollywood star David Oyelowo – explained that the incident occurred back in 2001, but she doesn’t feel that attitudes towards women in the industry are any different almost 25 years on.

Jessica is quoted by the Daily Mail newspaper as saying: “I didn’t know I was pregnant yet, but I got a job and I found out after I’d signed my contracts and started doing costume fittings.”

The Murphy’s Law star continued: “It was a job for TV – a few episodes on this TV show back in 2001.

“The first person I told was the main producer, ‘Look, I want to let you know, I’m pregnant. I’m very well, I’m very young. I’m very healthy. I just wanted to let you know so you could be prepared.’

“He said, ‘You women! You’re so annoying. You always ruin my projects with having babies. So stupid.’

“Things haven’t changed much (since).”

Jessica and David met as teenagers and got married in London in 1998, with the latter revealing that the pair have “non-negotiables” that make their marriage work.

He explained: “We made the decision early on never to be apart for longer than two weeks: 26 years married and we’ve only broken that rule once, by 11 hours, when my wife was in Sleepy Hollow.”

David added that the pair – who have children Asher, 25, Caleb, 20, Penuel, 17, and Zoe, 13, together – never go to bed angry with each other.

The Selma star said: “Never let the sun go down on your wrath. We won’t go to bed if a disagreement isn’t resolved – sleep makes it grow like cancer.

“Before you know it, you don’t remember why you were fighting, ego and pride becomes a factor, and then it starts to fall apart.”

Meanwhile, David previously revealed that his spouse was a member of Mensa – the society for those with an IQ in the top two per cent of the population – after her score was revealed to be “off the charts” in a test for ADHD.

He told the Guardian newspaper: “Our four children are neurodiverse, too. They have incredibly special attributes that they wear as superpowers. I’m in awe that I get to be their father.”

bitchy | Greta Lee: ‘Everything’s branded & corporate & lame. No one knows how to have fun’

Greta Lee became an “overnight success” when she starred in Past Lives two years ago. At the time, she was 40 years old and she had worked as an actress on stage and in films and television for the better part of two decades. But it was that quiet little indie film which turned her career upside down in a good way. Not only did Greta’s acting career go next-level because of Past Lives, but suddenly, she was one of the most in-demand fashionistas. That awards season, she got a brand ambassadorship with Loewe. Following that, she did a Calvin Klein campaign. Now she’s the new face of Lady Dior. That’s part of the reason why she’s one of Vogue’s November cover stars – her new Dior contract, plus her role in Tron: Ares, plus The Morning Show, A House of Dynamite and Late Fame. Basically, she’s spent the past two years working her ass off. Some highlights from her Vogue piece (I did not know anything about her, so I loved this profile):

Her career at the age of 42: “None of this is expected. And thank God it’s so different from what I imagined this career could be at this point. For women it was not guaranteed that you would continue to find any work in your 40s. That’s when you should go shut the door and lie down. But to have it be the opposite of that? I can’t pretend that it’s not incredibly confusing.”

She likes a chain restaurant like Houston’s: “There are far more interesting places to go to, but I like it here. I find it weirdly comforting. Maybe it’s the suburban kid in me.”

Life after Northwestern: “In those years, it was a really big question mark of whether I was going to make a living.” And that was paramount, as she was the first person in her family to go to school in the United States. “It was all about being successful in any way you could. And the expectations were high. I mean, school was not a casual thing.”

The lack of professional role models in the early ‘00s. “That has always been a source of hurt—internalizing years of feeling like, Well, if the only model is something that I physically cannot fit into, what am I doing? Even now, that’s a huge struggle for me because those have not really existed.”

She wants to stay rooted in real life: “As an actor, you feel this external pressure to create this narrative for yourself, and I find it really annoying because it’s so antithetical to my job. My job requires me to stay firmly in touch with all different kinds of people. And it’s not about me. Everything is set up so that the more success you have, the more isolated you become. What happens is—and I have seen this with peers—you get a little weird. You start thinking about yourself in an industry way. You become a product. I hate that, and I can see why it’s crazy-making and really damaging.”

She was given a bodyguard for the first time this year. “It was like, ‘At ease, sir. I got this. I am going to go to the museum.’ ” She understands the need for privacy and security but believes it’s overblown. “It’s a choice. If you don’t buy into it, it leaves you alone. And that’s key to doing my job. The more isolated you get, the more out of touch you are.”

She stays in shape because she’s a “Tracy Anderson addict”: She can be found daily at the fitness guru’s studio along with a cohort of nonindustry women—including some pushing 60. “I look at them like, Why the f–k are you here?” I know why I’m here.… But you are crushing it! It’s changed my perspective. I want to be able to roll around like this when I’m 80.”

She enjoys getting dressed up for work: “When you’re young, there’s a tremendous amount of consideration, all connected to this excitement of possibility. It feels like the world is infinite and anything could happen. I’m lucky that the people around me are old enough to understand we’re trying to recapture that feeling.” These days, however, “everyone has their phones. You go to a party, and people pretend to sip Champagne while they film themselves. Everything’s branded and corporate and lame. No one knows how to have fun anymore.”

The Millennial experience: Lee describes a meme of how young people spent their nights out before smartphones: “pictures of people raging inside some sweaty bar, dancing. Being a millennial, I feel so genuinely privileged that I got to experience that. If I were in my 20s now and all this were happening, it would be totally different.” Another cherished memory: visiting the local multiplex. “As a ’90s kid, that experience was everything, and I just wanted to get as close as I could to being part of that.”

[From Vogue]

She sounds so cool and grounded. Like, seeing her on red carpets, I thought she would be more of an airy-fairy artiste. While she is an artist who takes her craft seriously, she’s also spent most of her career without all of this attention, fame, money and access and it shows. She doesn’t live inside her own ass, is what I’m saying. And what she says about the Millennial experiences of just enjoying things and being in the moment is so real.

Heavenly Kimes Branded a ‘F***ing Liar’ in Explosive Season 12 Trailer

What To Know

  • Season 12 of Bravo’s Married to Medicine premieres November 30, promising heightened drama, new cast dynamics, and the return of Dr. Heavenly Kimes amid her political campaign.
  • The trailer teases intense conflicts, including Toya Bush Harris accusing Heavenly of lying, rifts among several cast members and their spouses, and ongoing struggles to repair friendships.
  • Alongside the drama, the season will feature emotional storylines such as Mimi Sanders navigating parenting a child with special needs and Quad Webb’s IVF journey, plus celebratory events like the Med Gala and a trip to Jamaica.

Bravo’s Married to Medicine is returning for its 12th season on Sunday, November 30, at 9 pm ET/PT, and there is plenty of drama in store based on the first sneak peek trailer.

The hit reality series, which chronicles the personal and professional lives of several women in the Atlanta medical community, promises a “double dose of drama and shade” in the new season, which sees the return of Dr. Heavenly Kimes amid her campaign for political office.

“The Married to Medicine ladies are back with some new friends and are working toward being better sisters,” reads the official press release. “Although apologies are still owed, can they get to the core of their issues and revive their friendships?”

If the trailer is anything to go by, making friends isn’t going to be easy. The clip begins by highlighting several arguments, including Toya Bush Harris calling Heavenly a “f****** liar,” to which Heavenly fires back, “And you’re a damn fake-a** b****.”

Toya also appears at odds with Dr. Contessa Metcalfe, Dr. Mimi Sanders, and even her own husband, Dr. Eugene Harris, whom she orders to “be a leader and lead the men.”

Dr. Simone Whitmore also gets into it with Quad Webb, which leads to a clash between Simone and her own husband, Cecil Whitmore, whom she tells, “I don’t give a f*** about the people who don’t give a f*** about me.”

It’s not all fiery showdowns, though, as the trailer also teases more emotional moments, including Mimi and her husband, Steve Sanders, navigating the ups and downs of “parenting a child with special needs.”

Elsewhere, Quad and her boyfriend King continue their efforts to get pregnant through IVF, with Dr. Jackie Walters guiding them through the process. The new season will even see Quad traveling to Africa in her quest to have a baby.

And, of course, there is lots of fun, too, with the third annual Med Gala, a costume party, and a cast trip to Jamaica.

Check out the sneak peek in the video above and let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
