I Swear Bought By Sony Pictures Classics

“I Swear,” the British indie film about Tourette’s Syndrome campaigner John Davidson that has already been a hit with audiences and critics in the U.K., has been bought by Sony Pictures Classics.

SPC acquired all rights to the film for the United States, Latin America, most of Eastern Europe, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Portugal and South Korea.

Written and directed by BAFTA nominee Kirk Jones (“Waked Ned Devine,” “Nanny McPhee”), “I Swear” first premiered in Toronto to critical acclaim and earlier this month launched in U.K. and Irish cinemas, opening at third spot behind “Tron: Ares” and “One Battle After Another.” According to distributor StudioCanal, it also set a new record as the most highly rated film by cinemas audiences since records began in the U.K. —  above “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Top Gun Maverick” and “Parasite” in Comscore PostTrak exit polls.

Alongside Robert Aramayo (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”) as the lead, the film’s supporting cast includes three-time BAFTA nominee Maxine Peake (“Say Nothing,” “The Theory of Everything”), BAFTA winner Shirley Henderson (“Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” “Harry Potter”) and Cannes best actor Award winner and Golden Lion winner Peter Mullan (“War Horse,” “The Magdalene Sisters”).

Set in 1980s Britain, “I Swear” charts Davidson’s Tourette’s diagnosis at the age of 15 years old, following him throughout his troubled teens and early adulthood exploring this little known and entirely misunderstood condition, along with his attempts to live a “normal” life against the odds. The production worked closely with the Tourette’s community, casting individuals who live with Tourette’s, and collaborated with a Tourette’s charity.

The film was produced by Jones, Georgia Bayliff and Piers Tempest for One Story High and Tempo Productions. Cindy Jones and John Davidson serve as executive Producers.

“I am thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures Classics on ‘I Swear,’” said Jones. “Their history, vision, ambition and passion for what is a very special project for us, feels like a perfect fit for U.S. and additional territories.”

Added Tempest, “We are delighted that ‘I Swear’ is resonating so much with audiences in the United Kingdom and can’t think of better partners than Sony Pictures Classics to bring the film to U.S. audiences and beyond.”

The deal was negotiated between Sony Pictures Classics and Bankside Films on behalf of the filmmakers.

“I Swear’ is one of those extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, true-to-life movies, emotionally engaging, funny and compelling,” said Sony Pictures Classics. “Many will identify as ‘I Swear’ explores conquering an entirely misunderstood condition, by a young man and the people around him. Directed to perfection by Kirk Jones with amazing performances by Robert Aramayo and stalwarts Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson and Peter Mullan, ‘I Swear’ will be adored by audiences everywhere.”

I bought multiple DIY furniture pieces online, and here’s everything I have to say about them!

I’ve always believed that the way you bring furniture into a home shapes not just the look but also the way you use your space. Over the years, I’ve seen how small changes can completely shift the mood of a room. So when I started buying furniture online and tried my hand at DIY furniture, I wasn’t sure if it would hold up. What I found was a mix of fun, a few hiccups, and some serious wins.

From centre tables to lamps, DIY furniture brings quick upgrades, smart functionality, and style, making even rented homes feel warm and personal.(Hindustan Times)

Take the centre table I ordered. Made from engineered wood with a pine finish and rattan, it took me under fifteen minutes to assemble. The result was a piece that didn’t just fill a gap but added warmth and a touch of glamour to the living room. Then there was a jute and wood lamp with tiny shelves, which not only gave a glow to the corner but also held our modem and a couple of trinkets. That was half an hour of assembly time well spent.

Feeling confident, I unboxed lightweight green rattan-finish chairs for the breakfast counter. No instructions needed since they were ready in seconds and instantly lifted the space. But when it came to a work desk for my husband, the story changed. The design was great and the instructions clear, but the assembly took more time than I expected. I called in my carpenter, and even with his experience, it took an hour. Still, it was cleaner and quicker than getting something custom-made, and the final piece looked like it belonged in the room.

Through these experiments, I realised DIY furniture has a place in every home, especially when you are looking for smaller additions or quick upgrades. Here’s why it works so well:

1. It’s space-smart

Small furniture pieces can transform how a room feels. A side table beside the bed or a chair tucked into a corner creates balance without making the space feel crowded.

2. Perfect for rented homes

I’ve seen countless rented flats lose their charm because tenants are hesitant to personalise. DIY furniture is light, easy to move, and gives you the chance to inject your own style without commitment.

3. Saves money while staying stylish

Custom pieces often come with high costs. Buying furniture online, especially with good DIY furniture reviews to guide you, lets you stay on budget while still bringing in fresh design.

4. The process itself adds value

Even when you call in help, there is clarity in the DIY process. No dust, no endless waiting, and no chasing carpenters for weeks. You get efficiency without compromise.

5. Variety that suits every taste

DIY furniture ideas cover everything from minimal to more layered designs. From rattan and wood to colour accents, you can find something that reflects your own style instead of settling for generic options.

DIY furniture: Pros and cons of my purchases

Products I purchasedProsCons
DeckUp Plank Versa Engineered Wood Study Table and Office DeskSpacious and functional once set up, clean white finish that fits into most interiorsThe assembly was lengthy and needed a carpenter’s help
Woodsy Wooden Side Table with StorageCompact design with storage, looks neat beside the bedNot easy to assemble, and also requires carpenter support
UHUD Crafts Antique Wooden Foldable Side TableAssembles in under 5 minutes, versatile as a side table, plant stand, or extra seatingVery light, so not ideal for heavy use
Dream Furnishing Set of 4 Rattan Dining ChairsArrived fully assembled, comfortable seating, adds charm to the dining areaSlightly bulky to move around
Wolpin Microwave Oven StandTook only 15 minutes to set up, practical for kitchen organisationNot as sturdy as heavier wooden stands
Crosscut Furniture Wooden Floor Lamp with Shelf (Natural Jute)Classic design with useful shelves, easy-to-follow instructionsThe assembly took about 30 minutes, which can test patience
Gharaana Harmony Rattan Centre TableQuick and simple installation, adds style to the living roomNeeds careful handling as the rattan finish can scratch

For me, these pieces have shown that DIY is not just about saving time or money. It is about taking ownership of how your space comes together. Every table, lamp, or chair tells a story of effort, of choice, and of how design can be made simple without losing charm. And if it means keeping a friendly carpenter on speed dial for the tricky bits, that is simply part of the fun.

Young Thug Says He Bought $50,000 of Streams for Gunna’s ‘DS4EVER’

Alleged phone calls made from jail by Young Thug have been leaked in recent days, as the YSL honcho faces snitching allegations stemming from a 2015 conversation with authorities surrounding a Lil Wayne tour bus shooting.

Thugger continues to distance himself from Gunna, who was released nearly two years before Thug after reaching an Alford plea deal in the YSL RICO case in December 2022, as Thug believes his mentee snitched on him.

One recent alleged jail phone call involving Thug found him claiming that he paid $50,000 for streams to help Gunna’s DS4EVER album debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 over The Weeknd’s Dawn FM in 2022.

“Like, the No. 1 album you just had right now, I paid for you to have the No. 1 album,” he said.
”You didn’t honestly earn a No. 1 album over The Weeknd, my boy. I paid for that sh–. I never said anything to him.
I never told him that.”

He continued: “We just got the plug on that. You never earned a No. 1 album.
I spent 50 extra grand buying motherf—ing streams for you.”

Gunna earned his second No. 1 album atop the Billboard 200 in January 2022 in a tight race against The Weeknd. DS4EVER launched with 150,300 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 13, according to Luminate.

The album’s first-week sales figure was nearly entirely comprised of streaming. SEA units comprised 144,600 (equaling 193.5 million on-demand official streams), while album sales held 4,700 and TEA units comprised 1,000.

It was also the most-streamed album that week and Gunna added a Drake collaboration titled “P Power” to the project’s track list on the final tracking day. DS4EVER was on sale for $7.99 on the iTunes store and could be purchased digitally on his website for $4.

As for The Weeknd, Dawn FM bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 148,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 13, according to Luminate.

Of the total, SEA units made up 131,300 (equaling 173.04 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs), while album sales bested Gunna’s total with 14,800 and TEA units comprised 1,900.

Billboard has reached out to Luminate for comment.
