Dr Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford Universities, in a November 23 Instagram post, revealed what happens if you eat eggs for two weeks. In the post, he unpacked the egg’s robust nutritional profile.

The gastroenterologist shared the nutrient composition. Breaking it down, he highlighted that the entirety of the egg contains protein, making it very nutrient-dense. The yolk has 2.5 grams, while white contains 4 grams. He described it as a ‘high-quality protein,’ making it a top protein pick.

He listed out the various benefits and how it helps your body if you make eggs a daily part of your diet:

1. Protects vision

Eggs carry nutrients that protect your eyesight and prevent the risks of eye-related issues. Dr Sethi added, “Eggs help prevent macular degeneration and cataracts.” Both are age-related vision problems. As per the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, when macular degeneration happens, it becomes difficult to see things clearly in the centre of your vision. The side vision stays fine, the distorted vision is confined to the centre of vision, as this condition affects the macula, a part at the centre of the retina. And as for cataracts, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the eyes’ lenses turn cloudy, making vision very hazy or blurry.

2. Supports brain health and fatty liver

Eggs are rich in a nutrient which makes them a brain booster and a liver-friendly food. Dr Sethi said, “They are also high in choline, which supports brain health and helps prevent fatty liver.” Fatty liver is one of the most common lifestyle diseases. Press Information Bureau’s July 2024 report stated that every third Indian has fatty liver, suggesting how common this liver condition has become. Similarly, with hectic lifestyles becoming stressful and putting brain health under pressure, eggs offer support for cognitive functions too.

3. Beneficial for cholesterol and blood sugar management

There are many doubts regarding eggs and cholesterol, with some of them being that eggs are responsible for a cholesterol spike. But the gastroneologist assured that they actually support you by raising the good cholesterol. Along with this, eggs also offer the benefits of better blood sugar management and, in turn, keeping your energy high.

“While eggs are high in cholesterol, they can raise your good HDL levels, plus eating them for breakfast helps stabilise blood sugar, keeping you energised throughout the day,” the doctor explained.

Alternative for vegans

Those who are vegetarian or vegan and can’t add eggs to their diet, Dr Sethi suggested tofu as an alternative.

Dr Jeremy London, a cardiothoracic surgeon with over 25 years of clinical experience, has shed light on the surprising effects that daylight saving time can have on the human body. In an Instagram video posted on November 10, the cardiac surgeon explains how even a one-hour shift can disrupt the body’s natural rhythm and offers practical tips to help the body adjust smoothly.

How does daylight saving affect your body?

Dr London points out that with the arrival of winter, our clocks shift back by an hour each year – a change brought on by daylight saving time. However, while the extra hour may seem like a bonus to your daily routine, it doesn’t necessarily do your body any favours.

He explains, “That 1 hour change can throw your circadian rhythm completely off. The result is a measurable increase in heart attacks, strokes, mood disturbances, car accidents, and even all cause mortality in the days following the transition.”

Why does this happen?

According to the cardiac surgeon, our body’s internal clock is closely aligned with natural light exposure. When this rhythm is disrupted, it can throw the body’s overall balance and normal functioning off track.

In an Instagram video posted on November 7, the physician highlights, “Over time, smoking can increase the risk of lung disease, heart problems, and nicotine addiction. Make sure you take the appropriate steps to quit smoking, and seek professional help if needed.”

Dr Sood explains that smoking doesn’t just damage the lungs – it gradually stiffens them, reducing their ability to expand and function efficiently. He explains, “Tar plus over 7,000 chemicals weaken the cilia that clear your airways. After 1 year, heart disease risk drops by about 50% and by 10 years, lung cancer risk is about half that of a continuing smoker.”

Dr Dawn Mussallem, a double board-certified physician at Mayo Clinic and a stage 4 breast cancer survivor, shared in an October 23 podcast with American author Mel Robbins the top five foods that can help your body fight cancer and promote long-term wellness. 1. Berries

“Research on berries is so exciting, both for breast cancer prevention and for survivors,” says Dr Mussallem. “For every two servings a week, they can reduce the risk of breast cancer, and for survivors, lower the risk of dying from it by 25%.”

2. Purple sweet potatoes

“These purple sweet potatoes have about 150% more anthocyanins than berries,” she explains. “These powerful compounds help turn off tumour genes and activate tumour suppressor genes, essentially putting the brakes on cancer growth.”

3. Cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts)

“These are some of the most powerful vegetables when it comes to breast cancer,” Dr Mussallem says. “They contain an enzyme called myrosinase, which helps the body absorb their cancer-fighting nutrients more effectively. They also help transform estrogen into a form that doesn’t stimulate cell growth.”

4. Beans and other fibre-rich plant foods

“This is an amazing plant protein and you’re not just getting protein, you’re getting fibre,” she notes. “A massive study with 17 million person-years of data showed that fibre can reduce the risk of dying from any cause, heart disease, and even pancreatic cancer. Another review found that fibre can cut overall cancer risk by 22%.”

5. Soy and edamame

“There are very few foods that, if you ever got breast cancer, can actually reduce your risk of dying, and edamame is one of them,” says Dr Mussallem. “Soy is also protective for the prostate and may reduce the risk of lung cancer. The American Cancer Society’s 2022 report showed soy can lower the risk of breast cancer recurrence by 25%.”

Dr Mussallem concludes by reminding us that food truly is medicine. “All these colourful fruits and vegetables are full of phytonutrients that help the body heal. The body has such wisdom to repair itself, we just have to give it the right tools.”

Since 2017, They Are Gutting a Body of Water have evolved from Doug Dulgarian’s shoegazey, slowcore-influenced solo project into a dense, maximalist quartet that can best be described as the soundtrack to a hypothetical Mario Kart Level of Hell. The band’s fusion of drum ’n’ bass and breakcore with harsh, dense layers of guitar and bass is often accompanied by rounded, N64-inspired tones, creating a world both playful and sinister in its embrace of the synthetic. Their sound feels massive yet insular in its precision: During live sets, they prefer to play facing each other in a tight circle. On Lotto, TAGABOW’s fourth studio album, the band pulls the plug on hyperreality and abandons electronic elements in favor of a more straightforward, live approach: finally letting the screens go black, pulling the blinds up. It’s their rawest album yet, both in subject matter and in sound.

Though Dulgarian has previously delved into themes of numbness and isolation, the lyrics have tended to be evasive, allowing his terse, imagistic motifs to slip quietly beneath the crashing riffs. The album opens with “the chase,” a first-person account of suffering through fentanyl withdrawal. “Boosting Gillettes in a hopeful exchange for a sharp but tranqless synthetic isolate,” he mutters, “a substance that’ll make me sob pathetic to my girlfriend up high in miracle’s castle.” Even when the lyrics are fuzzier and sparser, Dulgarian’s voice comes through clearer than ever. On “rl stine,” dedicated to an unhoused friend, he allows certain phrases to come to the forefront of speaker-busting guitar swells: “I know that hurts/Greet the day with a sweet reserve.” Lotto’s vignettes become all the more gut-wrenching in their pointed swings toward clarity.

Still, Lotto is not a pessimistic album; it’s the band’s most hopeful work, in both its brutal honesty and its conscious pursuit of staying grounded. Dulgarian notes that the album is “rife with perceivable mistakes, ebbing and flowing with the most humanity [he] can place on one record.” This sentiment was always present in TAGABOW’s music (“Evolve, or die,” he sang on 2022’s “webmaster”), but it comes alive in these pared-back arrangements. On the instrumental standout “slo crostic,” Dulgarian, bassist Emily Lofing, and guitarist PJ Carroll each take turns riffing off Ben Opatut’s walloping drums before coming together into a relatively simple yet undeniably hooky finish. It feels unrehearsed, or at least looser and more laid-back than ever. Closer “herpim” explores the band’s new steadfast approach with lyrics that describe an airplane emergency over ambulance-like guitars and a looming, hoarse bassline. “We couldn’t land where we intended ‘cause there’s storms,” Dulgarian announces through loudspeaker fuzz, “but now we have to so I need you to buckle in.” The instruments fade out one by one, concluding the album with a few muted drums and the sound of a door opening.

Jason Clarke’s Body Could Use a Break

Jason Clarke is having a moment. Within a two-week span, he’ll star in Apple TV thriller series The Last Frontier (premiered Oct. 10), Hulu drama Murdaugh: Death in the Family (Oct. 15) and reunite with his Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow for her big Netflix film, A House of Dynamite, which hit select theaters on Oct. 10 and will debut on Netflix on Oct. 24.

What does this packed streaming schedule mean for Clarke? Mainly, he has to do a shitload of press — sorry Bo, add The Hollywood Reporter to that list.

It is the Murdaugh drama, the one in which the “Bo” term of endearment is used liberally, for which Clarke is doing most of these interviews. The Erin Lee Carr/Michael D. Fuller-created scripted series is a prestige-TV awards play, and Clarke — and his body — have earned your consideration. Clarke put on 40 pounds the hard way to play disbarred South Carolina attorney and convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh.

“I remember going to dinners with him when we were in prep, and he just was just housing everything,” Fuller told The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s like, “Order some more of that,” or “Order some more of that,” you know? And like, “Does anybody want dessert?”

“I wore tracksuit pants for six months,” Clarke told THR. “Nothing else fit.”

The tracksuits masked (some of) the weight but not the fatigue, poor circulation and back pain. It was “unbearable,” Clarke said. “Your body can’t deal with it. You just kind of panic.”

It was all so uncomfortable, Clarke didn’t want to go out in public. The dyed-red eyebrows didn’t help.

“To watch Jason put on that hair every day, to do the makeup and the skin and everything — you look at the man and he’s almost, to me, unrecognizable,” Carr said. “So there would be some days where I was like, ‘My days are really hard.’ And then I look at him, and I was like, ‘Wooo! Alright, [at least] I’m not having to eat banana splits four times a day.’ Because you think you like it [until the second one].”

Clarke says he has since lost about 38 of those pounds — by the time this story publishes, perhaps more — by, primarily, “not eating much.” Like pretty much every weight loss journey, diet and exercise go hand in hand. That’s true here too, though Clarke says his doctor still doesn’t want him doing much cardio. The weight comes off before the cholesterol comes down.

“You destroy your metabolism,” Clarke said. “I’d finished The Last Frontier and I was in great shape. I had to destroy it. It was horrible.”

You’d need to be in great shape to do The Last Frontier, which is basically Con Air set in the Alaskan wilderness. And maybe a little crazy.

“Jason’s a lunatic!” the series’ co-creator Jon Bokenkamp told THR. “Riding horses, crashing snowmobiles, driving dogsleds on the side of a mountain … the guy’s a trooper and up for anything.”

It was a different kind of beating on the body.

“He took plenty of bruises during the action scenes but never once complained,” fellow co-creator Richard D’Ovidio told THR.

Well maybe he did a little bit when we spoke.

“Of course there’s injuries, dude!” Clarke said when I asked. “The shit hurts.”

The shit’s also appreciated by his fellow producers. (Oh yeah: Clarke also produces The Last Frontier and executive produces Murdaugh.)

“When he’s not throwing himself into the physical side of the job, he’s just a damned good actor and an incredible partner,” Bokenkamp added. “Jason wants everyone to succeed, which means there’s no room for drama. If we have an issue, we confront it head on, in scripts, on set, behind the scenes. That kind of no-nonsense mentality cuts right through all the nonsense and puts the focus on the work. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner.”

Jon, Richard is right there.

“Jason reminds me of those powerhouse actors from the 70s — guys like James Caan, Robert Duvall and Gene Hackman,” D’Ovidio said. “It was hard to find a note to give him, not because he wouldn’t take it, but because from the moment he stepped on set, he was Frank Remnick.”
