bitchy | Mail: Netflix is already planning to ‘quietly drop’ Duchess Meghan’s As Ever!

This week, I finally got my “replacement” apricot jam from As Ever, as well as the two bottles of orange marmalade jam I ordered in the most recent As Ever product drop. I’ve tried both flavors and I prefer the apricot, for what it’s worth, but I’m still dreaming of a raspberry restock. The most recent product drop was coordinated alongside the premiere of With Love, Meghan’s second season. It feels like the Duchess of Sussex has finally worked out the supply lines for As Ever, right? Meghan’s biggest haters have been screaming about how the most recent products haven’t sold out, but that’s a good thing – Meghan and her team have finally got enough in stock to ensure that people can buy her products whenever they want, like a real functional business. While the scarcity business model works for a time, when you’re selling jams, wine and crepe mixes, people want to buy products whenever they need/want them. It’s bad business to have a sold-out product line for months at a time.

One of the most bizarre conversations happening around As Ever is the “why doesn’t Netflix sell Meghan’s products in their Netflix shops??” Because As Ever is a stand-alone thing? Well, that answer is not good enough for the Mail, or Richard Osman and Marina Hyde.

Meghan Markle’s tie-up with Netflix to sell her jam, pancake mix and flower sprinkles is already ‘petering out’ after just seven months, it was claimed today. The Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever brand is partnered with the streaming giant but none of her products are listed on the Netflix website. Netflix is also opening its first bricks-and-mortar stores in the US later this year so fans of shows such as KPop Demon Hunters, Squid Games and Stranger Things have the chance to buy merchandise. But there are growing doubts that As Ever products will be sold on the shelves despite her formal partnership with the streamer only being announced in February, the Daily Mail understands.

Speaking on her The Rest is Entertainment podcast with Richard Osman, journalist Marina Hyde suggested that Netflix is quietly dropping Meghan’s As Ever.

‘Meghan’s jam is supposedly for sale in the Netflix store. But they don’t even have a tab for her show’, she said. ‘She has gone into a product partnership with them but I’m afraid that will just peter out’.

It came after Meghan and Harry agreed a new TV deal with Netflix but experts said it was a ‘downgrade’ on their previous $100million contract, marking a loosening of ties between them. Her second season of With Love Meghan is only at 136 in the Netflix chart, under two weeks after its release. And it also appears that the Duchess of Sussex, 44, has quietly shut down her ShopMy website, which sold items from £20 ($26) grey t-shirts to £1,600 ($2,000) silk gowns.

The As Ever range was widely expected to be featured in the Philadelphia and Dallas branches of Netflix House, the streaming giant’s first physical stores. But a Netflix source has insisted that no final decisions had yet been made on any of the products that will be on the shelves later this year.

[From The Daily Mail]

It’s surprising that no one has a real explanation for why Meghan’s ShopMy page is blank right now. While the Mail and other tabloids have screamed about it all week, no one has an actual Sussex source explaining what Meghan is doing there. I suspect that it’s not a bad thing, and I also suspect that Meghan is not shutting down her ShopMy completely. But we’ll see. As for Marina Hyde and Richard Osman’s pocketwatching and gossip-mongering… lmao. They can’t cry about “Netflix is cutting their ties with the Sussexes” anymore, so now it’s “Netflix is cutting their ties with As Ever!” Girl, why?? Netflix suddenly doesn’t like to make money?

bitchy | Sam McKnight: Stop attacking ‘vulnerable young woman’ Princess Kate

by jummy84 September 6, 2025

The pro-royal community certainly wants to have it both ways. They want to crow about how the Princess of Wales’s new hair “broke the internet” and became one of the big pop culture stories of the week. They also want to pretend that everyone is “attacking” a poor innocent 43-year-old child who has never done one cruel or racist thing in her life! For the record, I AM concerned, just not in an “infantilizing Kate” way. I’m concerned about Kate because I think she’s been in a frightful state for the past two years and it really doesn’t look like her family is helping her or caring for her whatsoever. I’m concerned because even with a half-dozen luxury vacations this year, Kate looks like she hasn’t gotten a decent night’s sleep in months. I’m concerned because the people around Kate let her step outside yesterday with that bronde/caramel doll wig perched on her head and no one helped her. Well, Princess Diana’s former hairstylist said words about all of the “nasty comments” about Kate’s hair.

Princess Diana’s former hairstylist is weighing in on Kate Middleton’s headline-making new look. After hints of a hair transformation during a brief appearance in August, Thursday’s outing confirmed that the Princess of Wales is now sporting lengthy, highlighted tresses — her blondest and longest style ever. The change prompted a wide range of commentary online, including from hairstylist-to-the-stars Sam McKnight, who served as Princess Diana’s personal hairstylist from 1990 until her tragic death in 1997.

In a strongly-worded post on Instagram, McKnight called out anyone criticizing Kate’s look.

“I am shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted by all the nasty comments about the Princess of Wales today,” he wrote. “A woman’s hair is very personal to her, it’s armour, defence, confidence and so much more. I cannot believe how evil and lacking in any kind of empathy are the comments, the majority made apparently by other women, attacking a vulnerable other young woman, who has no choice, by dint of who she married, and the role she took on, to bravely face the public,” McKnight continued.

McKnight also referenced Princess Kate’s cancer treatment and recovery in his message.

“I’m sure she would rather be away from the public arena. She has brilliantly and quietly, unselfishly represented our country, the soft power we still have as a nation. Cancer affects individuals differently, but is life-changing for everyone. So FFS LEAVE HER ALONE. SHAME ON YOU,” he wrote.

[From People]

Again, they want it both ways – “Kate broke the internet/she’s our perfect popular princess/she gets all of this attention for just stepping outside” AND they want to react this way when people notice that Kate rocked up to an event with a really cheap-looking hairpiece. By talking about Kate’s hair (and it is HER hair, she paid for it), we’re actually having a larger conversation about how the royal institution chews up and destroys women. We’re having a larger conversation about what fourteen years in the institution has done to Kate’s physical and mental health. I’m honestly getting a real sense of deja vu to the fall of 2023. I genuinely hope we’re not on the verge of another months-long disappearance.

bitchy | Eden: Prince Harry should resign from Invictus so it can have another royal patron!!

by jummy84 September 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Last year, there was a high-profile campaign to somehow force or convince Prince Harry to resign from his board position on African Parks, a well-funded NGO working to conserve African ecosystems and protect African animal populations. As I said at the time, the campaign was very clearly coming from Prince William, and I also said that William’s ultimate goal is to somehow f–k with all of Harry’s major patronages. Then, this year, the Sentebale catastrophe happened. Once again, William’s peggy fingerprints were all over that fiasco. Everyone once again pointed out that William only gives a sh-t about taking things away from Harry and harming Harry’s philanthropic legacy. Well, it looks like William is making some moves on the Invictus Games. The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden wrote this infuriating column:

The Duke of Sussex said his decision to resign earlier this year as patron of Sentebale, the charity he co-founded to help Aids orphans in southern Africa, was ‘devastating’. Now, however, he may come under pressure to quit as patron of the other cause closest to his heart. I hear increasing rumblings of discontent about Prince Harry’s role as patron of the Invictus Games, the international sports event he founded with his brother and sister-in-law, the Prince and Princess of Wales, to help wounded, injured and sick military service personnel.

A source close to the Invictus Games Foundation tells me there is concern that Harry is no longer the help to the charity that he once was.

‘The duke has become an increasingly divisive figure, particularly in the Armed Forces,’ the source says. ‘And that is not good for Invictus. We are all about bringing people together and inspiring those who have suffered hardship. Now, Invictus is firmly established, it might be better if the duke took a step back.’

The issue is particularly sensitive because the next Invictus Games is due to be held in this country, in Birmingham, in 2027. Given Harry’s estrangement from the Royal Family – which he has attacked publicly on a number of occasions including in his memoir, Spare, and the interview with Oprah Winfrey – it is doubtful that any members would want to be seen alongside him in Birmingham. Stories have already appeared suggesting that Invictus will invite royals to attend the 2027 games, putting them in an awkward position – and this has led to further unease.

‘It is worrying that such a worthy event seems to be used for PR [public relations] purposes,’ says the source. ‘Normally, senior members of the Royal Family would want to attend. It goes without saying that they support the Forces to the hilt, so it would be unfortunate if they felt unable to because of Harry’s presence.’

A royal source tells me: ‘If Harry were to resign as patron of Invictus, I’m sure they would have no trouble finding a new royal patron.’

Rob Owen, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation, tells me: ‘We are proud to have the Duke of Sussex as the patron and founder. The Invictus movement stems from his ideas and his passion for the international community of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, borne out of his military service experience, and his understanding of the power of sport to change lives and save lives. The spotlight he brings to the community, and to our work, has changed the perceptions of mental health, of military personnel, and of disability worldwide.’

[From The Daily Mail]

“If Harry were to resign as patron of Invictus, I’m sure they would have no trouble finding a new royal patron.” It makes me feel sick to my stomach, actually. The fact that William is waging this public campaign to do what? A hostile takeover of Harry’s signature achievement, his brainchild, the event he painstakingly put together and nurtured for more than a decade? All so his ugly brother can claim it as his own royal patronage? And that’s another thing… for argument’s sake, let’s say this happened the way William wants, and Invictus is like “well, sh-t, let’s ask William to be our royal patron.” Is that not an enormous embarrassment for Invictus AND William? Or is he too stupid and childish to understand that? What’s also funny is that William refuses to do anything with his existing patronages (nevermind taking on new patronages), and yet he’s an eager-beager whenever it comes to anything Harry founded?

Also: “Normally, senior members of the Royal Family would want to attend. It goes without saying that they support the Forces to the hilt, so it would be unfortunate if they felt unable to because of Harry’s presence.” The Windsors actually refused to even congratulate or send well-wishes to the British Invictus team in 2022, 2023 and 2025. They were so mad that Harry was getting so much attention as Invictus’s founder, they went out of their way to snub British veterans. Not even a tweet of congratulations, not even a small reception for the medal-winning British Invictus team. These people are completely pathetic.

bitchy | Princess Kate didn’t shelter any kids under her umbrella during a huge storm

by jummy84 September 6, 2025

Prince William and Kate stepped out yesterday at London’s Natural History Museum. They were checking out the newly “transformed” gardens. While the big news was obviously Kate’s terrible wig, W&K actually had a prearranged photo-op set up. They had a group of kids taken out of school so that William and Kate could pose with some minority youths. Before the staged photo-op could happen, the heavens opened up and torrential rain came pouring down on all the king’s wiglets. Luckily, Kate and William had separate umbrellas. Unfortunately, the children did not. Kate and William did not offer to shelter any of the kids under their umbrellas either, leaving several of the kids screaming bloody murder as their clothes, hair and skin got soaked in the downpour.

Welp, the future of the monarchy, is looking more grimm by the hour. pic.twitter.com/AsZgP0VrDd

— Meghan,Duchess Of Advocacy (@meghan_world) September 4, 2025

This is so awful. The still photos are awful too. It’s not like the kids were completely panicked, but they were definitely upset. I would imagine that the kids’ parents are probably pretty upset too, especially when they see the photos and videos of their children being left out in a torrential downpour while a princess with an umbrella and a cheap wig smiles furiously, desperately trying to save the photo-op.

bitchy | Times: Is Princess Kate ‘allowed’ to change up her hairstyle significantly?

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

One of the great things about Princess Diana was that she was both a trendsetter and a trend-follower. She loved the “more is more” ethos of 1980s fashion and styling, and then, right on trend, she went for a cleaner, more minimalist look in the 1990s. Diana switched up her hairstyles with frequency, and so many women copied her hair. Well, the inheritor of the Princess of Wales title is also known for her style and her hair, although the comparisons between Kate and Diana have always been strained, if not completely ridiculous. Well, Kate’s big appearance today in London has got people talking about her hair/wig and what it all means. Is Kate “allowed” to change her hair color this dramatically? Is she the first brunette in her 40s to go with a lighter color? The Times of London had this piece:

On a visit to London’s Natural History Museum today, the Princess of Wales was elegantly put together as always but with one big difference. Kate has gone blonde. In truth, she’s been creeping this way for some time. At first it was “bronde”, a gentle lightening of her dark brown hair; by the time of the French presidential visit in July, it was closer to caramel; now it looks to have edged towards honey blonde. Our first glimpse of her new look came last month, when she was seen with fairer-looking hair in the car on the way to church from Balmoral, though it wasn’t clear if it was just a trick of the light. But today’s pictures are confirmation that she has definitely lightened up.

Which may seem like no news at all. It’s usual to see celebrities reveal drastic makeovers: an extreme haircut for a new film role, expensive cosmetic surgery in time for red-carpet season. Kate having a few highlights shouldn’t be a shock. But our expectations of modern royals are anything but modern.

Queen Elizabeth II set the expectations for a royal woman ageing in the public eye: to be always and instantly recognisable to your public. Camilla hasn’t changed her hair in years — it’s just a fraction lighter than it was 25 years ago, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s still using the same round brush to blow-dry those flicky-out ends. Perhaps it’s to ensure consistency on those commemorative plates. Kate was a brunette at her royal wedding, so brunette she must stay.

But she’s also part of a younger generation — mine, actually — though she may seem much more pulled together than most millennials. I was 12 when I first dyed my hair in the bathtub at home; 15 when I had blonde highlights. The temptation to go blonde is strong when pop culture and beauty ideals tell you that you’re missing something; that blondes have more fun, that gentlemen prefer them. I went blonde again in my late twenties, peroxide this time. And since the greys have started peppering my brunette hair, I’ve been discussing with my hairdresser a few honeyish streaks of my own, the better to blend in greys.

That warm, flattering, face-brightening honey shade is a go-to, almost a default, for white women in their forties, fifties and sixties, as much a hair milestone as the new-mum bob or the break-up big chop. With Jennifer Aniston as a poster girl, it’s a transition that many of Kate’s close friends will be making around her. Her mother, Carole, has slices of warm blonde in her bob.

Supporting British fashion houses boosts the economy, but it seems that public opinion deems it undignified for our royals to stray too far into vanity — as if a hair transplant for a receding royal may weaken the empire. Where do we draw the line? Will the Wales children be allowed dodgy teenage hair? Emo side-sweeps, self-cut fringes … not tattoos or piercings, surely? Where do we stand on traintrack braces — and would they be allowed to choose any colour for their elastics, or is there a pre-approved palette?

[From The Times]

Here’s the thing – no reasonable person actually *wanted* Kate to keep the same general hairstyle and color for the rest of her married life. When she brought out the doll-wig extensions in her first year of marriage, it’s like she got addicted to that particular look – the sausage curls, the volume and the length. People who actually like Kate and want her to look her best have been begging her for years to ditch the wiglets and hairpieces and just get a cute shoulder-length bob. I wouldn’t even take issue with the color – and I don’t consider this blonde, it’s caramel or bronde – specifically because this is what so many women do as they deal with grey hair, they go lighter. But they also go shorter too, which Kate seems incapable of. And just to be clear, this was not Kate sitting at a hair salon for hours to achieve this color.

bitchy | Princess Kate debuted her new caramel hair at the Natural History Museum

Two weekends ago, the Princess of Wales soft-launched her new “blonde” hair during a visit to Balmoral. We were waiting to see if Kate was still trying out a new color for her first work event in months. These are photos from Kate and Prince William’s visit to the Natural History Museum’s updated gardens today. Of course it rained like hell, but there were some dry moments, enough for people to get a look at Kate’s new hair. New wig, who dis??? My God. Sometimes I wonder if I’m being too harsh about the state of Kate’s hair, but honey… there’s a whole world of high-quality and realistic-looking wigs and hairpieces. And yet Kate always goes for the cheapest ones out there. Even if you argue (hilariously) that this is all of Kate’s natural hair, the color is what really makes it look so cheap! This color isn’t from sunning herself on a yacht, it came from a colorist who doesn’t know how to do good-quality caramel highlights.

Kate’s blazer is Ralph Lauren, but I haven’t seen any IDs on any of the other pieces. Her necklace is Daniella Draper, and it features the initials of her three kids. She’s worn that before, I’m almost positive. Yesterday, GB News published an odd piece about Kate’s jewelry and how she’s making an effort to wear fewer big, stately jewels. Like… yeah, we know, and that’s part of the copykeening as well.

bitchy | Victoria Hervey is ‘amazed’ that the Sussexes’ marriage ‘has lasted as long as this’

by jummy84 September 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Lady Victoria Hervey is a British socialite and Z-list celebrity. She once dated Prince Andrew, and whatever happened between them, Hervey is still (to this day) one of Andrew’s biggest supporters. She regularly defends him in interviews, and she has a long history of saying vile sh-t about Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking victims. Well, Hervey is now concerning herself with matters involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She spoke to Closer about Harry and Meghan’s marriage, and whether Harry will reconcile with his father.

Prince Andrew’s ex-girlfriend Lady Victoria Hervey has said she’s ‘amazed’ that Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle has lasted as long as seven years. The socialite – who briefly dated the embattled Duke of York in 1999 – told Closer magazine that Harry and Meghan’s relationship ‘seems to have been quite rocky’ lately as she suggested the Sussexes’s relocation to the US may have adversely impacted the couple.

Asked what she thinks of their future together, Lady Victoria told the publication: ‘I’m amazed their marriage has lasted as long as this – I’m sure it’s only because of the kids, because it seems to have been quite rocky for a while. She got him to move his whole life, and now she’s back where she grew up.’

Reflecting on a possible royal reconciliation [between Harry and the Windsors], Lady Victoria felt that Prince Harry will have to prove he’s a ‘changed man’ before being welcomed back into the family – but it seems less likely that Meghan will be accepted by them. If Harry can convince his father and brother, Prince William, that he ‘isn’t going to be dishing every family secret’ then there may be hope for healing.

However, she added, Meghan might have a harder time reintegrating in the aftermath of her interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, when the Duchess claimed there were ‘concerns’ within the Royal Family about her and Prince Harry’s son Archie’s skin colour before his birth. Meghan refused to say which royal spoke to Prince Harry about ‘how dark’ Archie might be, before Prince William commented on the accusation by saying the Royal Family is ‘very much not racist’.

The relationship between the brothers has remained frosty, with William believed to have ‘rejected out of hand’ an invitation to meet his younger brother when he travels to London for the WellChild Awards next week. It is a timely move on Prince Harry’s part, according to Lady Victoria, who said the Duke must ‘make up’ with the King ‘as soon as possible’ before William completely shuts the possibility of a reunion down. Even then, Lady Victoria continued, Harry will have to work ‘seriously hard’ at regaining his elder brother’s trust – especially after the Duke made a number of sensational claims against the future King in his 2023 memoir Spare.

[From The Daily Mail]

This has been happening for a few years now – I remember the big “storyline” in the summer of 2023, when the British press convinced themselves that Harry and Meghan’s marriage was on the rocks and Harry was living in a hotel. It’s always wishful thinking for the deranged community, and a disbelief that Harry is actually quite happy choosing his wife and children over his white and royal privileges. “I’m sure it’s only because of the kids, because it seems to have been quite rocky for a while.” Ah yes, imagine saying this about the family who lives peacefully in California, and not the other couple. You know, the wife who disappeared for months and then got blamed for manipulating proof-of-life photos. The husband who seems to be in an incandescent and violent rage 24-7. Is it all just projection? Wasn’t it always?

bitchy | Prince William & Kate will do their first post-summer vacation event on Thursday

by jummy84 September 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Color me shocked, the Prince and Princess of Wales are going to have a public event this week, the same week their kids go back to school. Historically, Kate rarely “gets back to work” so soon after her summer holiday. In years past, she’s waited until the end of September to step out. It’s especially interesting this year because after Kate suddenly pulled out of Ascot, we were told that her schedule would look very, very different for the rest of the year, and we would barely see her before Christmas. What changed? Several things – one, Prince Harry is visiting the UK next week. Two, Kate and William have been getting a lot of criticism this summer over their planned move to Forest Lodge combined with their refusal to do anything for VJ Day. So, wouldn’t you know, something was thrown together:

Kate Middleton and Prince William are set to step out for their first official outing in seven weeks as their children return to the classroom for a new school year.

Kensington Palace announced on Sept. 1 that the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 43, will visit the newly transformed gardens of the Natural History Museum in London on Thursday, Sept. 4.

The couple will visit the museum the day after their children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, return to the classroom at Lambrook School. The Prince and Princess of Wales’ children all attend the co-educational prep school near their home in Windsor, and the new school term starts on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Prince William and Princess Kate make a point of being present when their children start a new school year. In September 2022, William and other members of the royal family traveled to Scotland to see Queen Elizabeth after her doctors announced that they were “concerned” for her health before her death on Sept. 8. However, Kate stayed behind because it was George, Charlotte and Louis’ first day as new pupils at Lambrook.

[From People]

I included that last part because that story has evolved so much in three years. I even said back in 2022 that this should have been the official excuse, that Kate stayed behind because it was the kids’ first week of school. Instead, the official palace line was “Kate stayed behind because she understood that she wasn’t welcome in Balmoral, unlike Meghan who wanted to support her husband!!” They were honestly saying that sh-t as yet another way to bash Meghan and explain why King Charles’s first act as king was banning his Black daughter-in-law from Scotland. Anyway, the visit to the Natural History Gardens sounds more like a Solo Kate event. It’s curious that William is tagging along, right? Do they trust her to do events by herself?

bitchy | Deadline: ‘With Love, Meghan’ S2 didn’t crack Netflix’s top-ten in its first week

by jummy84 September 4, 2025
written by jummy84

In the past week, I’ve seen the most vile “reviews” of With Love, Meghan’s Season 2. Inevitably, the “reviews” start with some variation of “I watched every single minute of WLM so you, gentle reader, do not have to.” And then they recap, in minute detail, every glance, every word uttered, every drink poured, every flower arranged, all written with such contempt, you would think this was a show glorifying murder. It’s a cooking show! Meghan hangs out with friends and arranges flowers and cooks vegan curry! Anyway, as I’ve said many times, I enjoy the show and I hope to see more seasons. I think that if Netflix greenlights additional seasons, WLM will get even better, and the editing will be smoother and Meghan will find her rhythm as a cooking-show hostess. But some people doubt whether WLM will get any more seasons, because the second season failed to break into Netflix’s top ten in its first week of streaming.

With Love, Meghan is nowhere to be seen on Netflix’s top ten chart. The second season of the cooking show from Meghan Markle failed to crack the streamer’s weekly ratings after its launch on August 26. It comes after the first season squeaked into the top ten with 2.6M views in its first week, placing it at number ten, in March.

The first season also failed to have any long tail appeal; in Netflix’s semi-annual data dump – the What We Watched report, showed that between January and June 2025, With Love, Meghan ranked #383 with 5.3M views, low for a Netflix original with four seasons of Markle’s USA Network scripted series Suits ranking higher than it, despite having been off the air for six years.

The second season also failed to make the Luminate’s Top 50 Streaming Charts for the period between August 22 and 28, which covers U.S. viewing, meaning that fewer than 1.11M people watched the show in its first two days on the streamer.

The ratings will be a disappointment for Netflix, which had hoped its overall deal with the former royal duo, signed in September 2020, would have produced more successful output than it has.

[From Deadline]

Again, why compare WLM to Suits, a scripted drama which enjoyed a huge second-life success on streaming, racking up billions of streams? Why not point out that Netflix is still tinkering with this kind of programming – specialty/cooking/entertaining – and that WLM could easily be given more time to find its footing and an audience? I know the answers to all of these questions, of course. I’m still disappointed that so many people on both sides of the pond are just lining up to “take down” a gentle little show like this.

Here’s another odd thing – on Tuesday, Meghan (or her team) removed every recommendation from her ShopMy page. Her ShopMy is completely blank. Is she giving up the page after not updating it for months? I thought for sure we’d get some updates when WLM S2 came out. But I guess not. It’s really weird. One explanation is that… Meghan isn’t going to bother with it anymore because As Ever is exceeding expectations and that’s where her focus needs to be.
