The first trailer for Michael Jackson‘s biopic has already become the most-watched music biopic preview ever – find out more below.

The film, titled Michael, will see the King of Pop’s real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson take on the title role, while Oscar nominee Colman Domingo will play his father, Joe Jackson. It will hit the big screen on April 24, 2026.

Michael‘s first trailer arrived last week (November 6), and has already broken a record to become the most-watched music biopic trailer in history after an initial 24-hour period, per The Hollywood Reporter.

According to statistics provided by WaveMetrix on Saturday (November 8), the trailer drew over 116.2million views globally, making it both the most-viewed music biopic trailer ever, as well as distributor Liongate’s most-viewed movie preview in history.

Watch the trailer for Michael below.

Additional cast members include Miles Teller as attorney John Branca, Kat Graham as Diana Ross, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe, Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones and Juliano Krue Valdi as a young Michael.

In May, it was reported that the film could potentially be split into two parts for length, though as of the time of writing, the two-parter has not been confirmed. Following the release of the trailer, Adam Fogelson, chair of the Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Groups spoke of the potential split during a quarterly earnings call with analysts.

“While we’re not yet ready to confirm plans for a second film, I can tell you that the creative team is hard at work making sure that we’re in a position to deliver more Michael soon after we release the first film,” Fogelson said.

The film has already attracted some criticism, including from Dan Reed, the director of the documentary Leaving Neverland, which documented allegations of sexual abuse against Michael. Reed criticised the making of the new biopic, saying it “will glorify a man who raped children”.

Reed later said he had read a draft of the script in which the men who made the allegations in Leaving Neverland were discredited. “Jackson is only ever seen caring for children with childhood cancer, or dancing with a little girl in a wheelchair, or tucking up multiple little boys, mostly his nephews, at sleepovers,” Reed said of the script. “It feels like the creators of the movie have been stuck in a room with John Branca and just told what to write.”

Reports emerged at the start of this year that the film had been delayed after they were forced to reshoot the third act due to its unsanctioned portrayal of the Jordan Chandler case.

Actor Colman Domingo, who will play Michael Jackson’s father Joe in the upcoming biopic, has defended the project, saying that “everyone has a story to tell”. He said the film will look at the “complex human being” behind the star.

Michael Jackson Biopic Trailer Draws 30 Million Views in 6 Hours, A Sequel Reportedly in the Works

The first teaser for Michael, Lionsgate’s upcoming biopic about music legend Michael Jackson, generated more than 30 million views within its first six hours of release — a figure that marks a 50% increase over the debut numbers for John Wick: Chapter 4, according to Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Adam Fogelson.

The update was shared during the studio’s earnings call on Thursday, where Fogelson also confirmed the film remains one of Lionsgate’s most anticipated releases. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, who also produced Bohemian Rhapsody, Michael is set to open in theaters on April 24, 2026. During the call, Lionsgate executives were asked whether plans remain in place for a second installment of Michael. The film was initially divided into two parts, as the original cut ran three and a half hours long. Additionally, a portion of the footage reportedly centered on one of Jackson’s accusers, who reached a settlement with the singer’s estate stipulating that their story could not be dramatized — an oversight the estate made when approving the film’s early development.

Responding to questions about a possible sequel, Fogelson said, “Since the last time we worked together on an earnings call, we’ve had the great pleasure of seeing the director’s cut of the first film, and it is exceptional.” He added, “While we’re not yet ready to confirm plans for a second film, I can tell you that the creative team is hard at work making sure that we’re in a position to deliver more Michael soon after we release the first film.” Fogelson concluded by praising the film’s lead, Jaafar Jackson, the late singer’s nephew, saying, “People have been waiting a long time for this. I think people are stunned with Jaafar’s performance.”

The King of Pop’s story is coming to life on the big screen — and it’s staying in the family. Jaafar Jackson, the 29-year-old nephew of Michael Jackson, is set to portray his legendary uncle in the upcoming biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, the Oscar-winning producer behind Bohemian Rhapsody and The Departed.

Production on the film began earlier this year, with a worldwide theatrical release scheduled for April 24, 2026. Early photos from the set show Jaafar’s striking resemblance to his uncle, capturing the energy and charisma that defined Michael’s career.

So, who is Jaafar Jackson? Here’s what you need to know about Jaafar below.

1. Jaafar will play Michael Jackson in a new biopic.

Antoine Fuqua confirmed Jaafar’s casting on January 30, 2023 He posted a behind-the-scenes photo of Jaafar in rehearsals for the Michael Jackson biopic. “Proud to announce @jaafarjackson as Michael — the motion picture event that explores the journey of the man who became the King of Pop. Coming soon,” Antoine wrote on Instagram.

Jaafar shared the same photo on his Instagram and wrote, “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.”

Michael’s estate has given the rights to his musical catalog. The upcoming biopic will “not shy away from the controversies of Jackson’s life, the pedophile accusations that haunted his latest years up to his death in 2009 at age 50, from cardiac arrest caused by a cocktail of sedatives,” according to Deadline.

2. Jaafar is Jermaine Jackson’s son.

Jaafar is one of Jermaine’s 7 kids. Jaafar was born in 1996 to Jermaine, Michael’s older brother, and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza. Alejandra notably dated Jermaine’s younger brother, Randy, and also had two kids with him. Jermaine and Alejandra were married from 1995 to 2003.

3. Jaafar can sing and dance like his uncle.

Back in 2019, Jaafar released the music video for his song “Got Me Singing.” He proves that the Jackson family’s talents are still running in the family. Jaafar shows off his vocals and dancing skills in the music video. He started his music career at 12 years old and can play the piano, according to his IMDb profile.

4. The biopic will mark Jaafar’s acting debut.

Jaafar has appeared as himself in a number of family-oriented projects, including The Jacksons: Next Generation and Tito Jackson’s music video in 2021. Playing his uncle in the biopic will be his first onscreen role.

5. Jaafar initially wanted to be a professional golfer.

Before he started his music career, Jaafar had aspirations of being a professional golfer. However, after being surrounded by his talented family, he soon followed in his family’s footsteps and became an entertainer.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Michael, the forthcoming biopic about pop legend Michael Jackson.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Michael, the forthcoming biopic about pop legend Michael Jackson

The film is being directed by Antoine Fuqua, 60, and the teaser for the project offers the first glimpse of Jackson’s life story brought to the screen by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, 29.

The film chronicles the rise of Jackson from child star to global icon, exploring both his personal life and his career-defining moments.

Lionsgate’s trailer opens with a recreation of Jackson in the recording studio with music producer Quincy Jones, portrayed by Kendrick Sampson.

Quincy is seen telling Jackson: “I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this. The tracks are made, the songs are ready. Let’s take it from the top.”

As Jackson’s 1982 hit Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ plays, the clip flashes through scenes from the singer’s early years, live performances and music videos, including Thriller.

Alongside Jaafar, the film stars Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney and adviser John Branca, as well as Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson and Nia Long as his mother Katherine Jackson.

Jessica Sula plays his sister LaToya Jackson, while Larenz Tate appears as Motown Records founder Berry Gordy.

Laura Harrier portrays pioneering music executive Suzanne de Passe, and Kat Graham stars as Diana Ross.

The biopic, which wrapped production in May 2024, is now set for release in cinemas on 24 April 2026 – a change from its original date of 3 October 2025.

Industry reports had suggested Michael might be split into two parts, but the trailer confirms it will be released as a single film.

A synopsis from Lionsgate reads: “Michael explores the global superstar’s journey to become known to the world as the King of Pop, presenting an intimate look at the life and enduring legacy of one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.”

The supporting cast also includes Liv Symone, Kevin Shinick, KeiLyn Durrel Jones and Kendrick Sampson, who portrays Quincy Jones, the heavyweight producer who first met Jackson when he was 12.

The screenplay was written by John Logan, whose credits include Alien: Covenant and Rango.

Producers include John Branca, Graham King and John McClain, with David B. Householter serving as executive producer.

Michael marks the first major dramatisation of Jackson’s life to have the full cooperation of his estate, with its makers given access to his music catalogue and archival material.

Tanya Maniktala confirms film with Rajkummar Rao, comments on replacing Ananya Panday in Amrita Sher-Gil biopic

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Tanya Maniktala has been working in the industry for seven years now, but interestingly, the actor had been living in Delhi all this while and commuting back-and-forth for work. Now, seven years later, the actor finally decided to shift to Mumbai just before Diwali, and is currently busy in her shifting phase.

Tanya Maniktala (Photo: Instagram)

“I just thought that it’s time to get out of my comfort zone. Delhi is home but Mumbai has also given me so much warmth and welcomed me with open arms, so I thought it’s time to embrace it now and make the move,” she says. While the actor admits that being in Delhi never hampered her work prospects much, she did miss out on some last minute events and appearances: “Being in Delhi in the comfort of my home, I was getting a little more passive to these things, and I would let things slide. But now I am very actively a part of everything that’s happening. I feel I am a lot more hands-on now.”

Getting to be in her own home and living independently for the first time, makes Tanya Maniktala feel ecstatic yet nervous. She says, “There are a lot of firsts happening and I’m so excited. They come with a lot of joy and excitement and also have their nervous moments. But I think I am in the company of good people and I’ve kind of got my foot in the door now,” adding, “I like having to look after myself now because it also gives me a purpose, but I also miss being taken care of. Things like food were always ready at my disposal, so having to learn all of these things from scratch, I’m enjoying the process but at the same time, also missing the convenience.”

On the work front, Tanya is rumoured to be pairing up with actor Rajkummar Rao for a film, and talking to us, she confirms it, “Even though the project with Raj sir is not announced, the information has gotten out already. So that is currently under works. It’s not surreal, but at the same time, I think I did not allow myself to imagine and accept that these kind of things could happen to me. So now that it’s working out, I am thankful to my lucky stars, although I also worked pretty hard towards it. One day, it had to happen. So I’m just glad that I’m prepared for this opportunity that has come my way now.”

She also to the reports of her replacing actor Ananya Panday in the Amrita Sher-Gil biopic, as she says, “I have no idea where this piece of information has come from. We have no idea about the Amrita Sher-Gil project. So, I don’t think I can comment on that.”

Jonas Akerlund to director Bjorn Borg biopic

Jonas Akerlund to director Bjorn Borg biopic

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Swedish tennis sensation Björn Borg is getting the biopic treatment. Borg’s best-selling memoir “Hjärtslag” (Heartbeat) has been picked up for adaptation by indie giant Banijay Entertainment, with Nordic subsidiary Jarowskij/Yellow Bird and Mastiff Sweden handling the production.

Jonas Akerlund, the Swedish director of Polar, Lord of Chaos, and Netflix series Clark, as well as countless music videos for the likes of Madonna, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, is attached to direct.

The screen adaptation will trace Borg’s meteoric rise to tennis superstardom, capped by his unprecedented five consecutive Wimbledon men’s singles titles, and his shocking decision to retire at the top of his game, at just 26 years old. The story will go beyond the court, looking at Borg’s private life, from his childhood to his years of financial struggle, to his post-tennis reinvention.

“Everyone knows Björn Borg for his legendary moments on the court, for his fierce, unparalleled power as an athlete and icon,” said Akerlund in a statement. “With his book, we finally dipped a toe into his enigmatic mind. But with this project, we’re cannonballing into the deep end.”

“I’ve spent my entire life in matches — both on and off the court,” added Borg. “Jonas wants to explore both sides, and I feel the time is right for that. He has the eye, the energy and the courage to tell my story in his own way.”

At his tennis peak, Borg was famous for his on-court rivalry with U.S. tennis star John McEnroe, a rivarly at the core of the 2017 feature Borg v. McEnroe from Danish director Janus Metz.

Jarowskij/Yellow Bird is a high-end drama series producer best known internationally for its Millennium crime trilogy series, the original version of the The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo franchise. The group is currently working on a reinterpretation of the iconic Swedish detective series Wallander. Mastiff Sweden is best-known for reality TV formats, including Swedish adaptations of Survivor and Love Is Blind, as well as serving as a local production partner on multiple Netflix adaptations. The company recently launched a new culinary showdown format, 100 Knives, co-developed with Banijay Americas label Bunim/Murray Productions.

Jon Bon Jovi wants to see biopic of his life "at some point"

Jon Bon Jovi wants to see biopic of his life “at some point”

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Jon Bon Jovi has said he would like to see a biopic of his life “at some point”, after the release of Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.

The big screen biography of Bon Jovi’s friend was released on Friday (October 24), with The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White playing the Boss during the period in which he was suffering from depression and trying to write his 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.

With that film in mind, Bon Jovi has told The Sun that he would like to see his own life dramatised in a feature film “at some point” in the future.

He suggested that his own son Jake Bongiovi, 23, who is an actor and model who has starred in the films Rockbottom and Sweethearts, would be the ideal candidate to play him in the film, although he is in no rush to see it being made. “I’m not in my final chapter yet,” he said. “I’m living my next chapter.”

The next chapter will consist of a run of UK and Ireland stadium shows and a New York residency in the summer of 2026, as announced earlier this week.

They will play four nights at the iconic Madison Square Garden in July, followed by shows at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park and London’s Wembley Stadium in late August and early September. See all the information on the shows here and find tickets here from Monday (October 27).

Speaking about the tour, Jon Bon Jovi said: “There is a lot of joy in this announcement – joy that we can share these nights together with our amazing fans and joy that the band can be together.”

“I am lucky enough to be able to hold a light out to the audience each night and stand in their reflection for a tremendous collective experience – I get to stand in the WE of our concerts. And I’ve spoken extensively on my gratitude but I will say it again, I’m deeply grateful that the fans and the brotherhood of this band have been patient and allowed me the time needed to get healthy and prepare for touring. I’m ready and excited!”

These will be the biggest live shows since Jon Bon Jovi had surgery on his vocal cords in 2022, a process which at one point he said left him uncertain that he would ever be able to tour again.

Last year, Bon Jovi released their 16th album ‘Forever’, a celebration of the band’s 40th anniversary and a follow-on from the Disney+ documentary film Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

Yesterday (October 24), the band released a new version of ‘Forever’ featuring reinterpretations of the album’s songs in collaboration with a list of guests that includes Bruce Springsteen, Avril Lavigne, Robbie Williams, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Ryan Tedder, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and more.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere Review: A Curveball Music Biopic

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

After giving us the image of Bruce excitedly flipping through microfiche articles about Starkweather at the library, the film settles in as White patiently begins to put the song “Nebraska” together. Much is made throughout the movie about the pitch-black nature of the songs Springsteen was recording; at one point, Landau—who went from writing about Springsteen to managing him—tells his wife that the songs sound like they’ve been made by a guilty man. The scene from Badlands hangs over the songwriting like a dark cloud; Spacek’s bedroom in the scene looks quite a bit like the bedroom in which the young Springsteen hides from his own angry father.

His father, Dutch Springsteen, isn’t portrayed as the lightly comical foil of the dad in the “Growin’ Up” tape. In flashback scenes shot in black and white, Stephen Graham does a lot of sitting at the kitchen table smoking, a lot of sitting on a barstool smoking, and a lot of yelling at his family. At one point, he drunkenly forces Bruce into sparring practice in the middle of the night.

But the relationship between Bruce and his father is the film’s true dramatic crux, far more so than his romance with the invented Faye Romano, who exists primarily as a mirror for Springsteen’s many issues. Rather than reduce the father-son relationship to fodder for Nebraska’s songs or overall mood, Cooper positions it as the primary issue of Springsteen’s life at the time and the source of a depression that grows more and more crippling as the film unfolds. White is at his best when he gives himself over to psychic pain.

While some of Nebraska is drawn from Springsteen’s personal life, most of the album is populated by nervous criminals, broken-down factory workers, fatalists, and racket boys. “Mansion on the Hill” carries a whiff of the Hank Williams classic of the same name, but where the country standard uses the titular image as a symbol of a woman who was “alone with her pride” after rejecting the singer, Springsteen eyes the mansion like it’s Jay Gatsby’s house across the water, a promise of abundance that’s held out but never delivered. Despite his claim that he had “no conscious political agenda or social theme” while making the record, it’s impossible not to also hear it as a critique of the “city on a hill,” the avatar of American exceptionalism first coined by John Winthrop in 1630 and repeated ad nauseam by Ronald Reagan.

Ikkis New Posters Out! Agastya Nanda’s Arun Khetarpal Biopic Gets December 2025 Release

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film Ikkis is all set to hit theatres in December 2025. The movie stars Agastya Nanda in the lead role and marks his first big-screen release after his debut in Netflix’s The Archies in 2023.

Ikkis New Posters Out

The makers recently shared new posters, giving a first look at Agastya as Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour. Sharing the posters on Arun Khetarpal’s birth anniversary, the makers wrote, “Ikkis, a story that will forever stay in our hearts, is wrapped.”

The posters highlight the emotional and heroic tone of the film with the caption, “Woh Ikkis ka tha, Ikkis ka hi rahega,” referring to Arun Khetarpal’s age — 21 — at the time of his sacrifice.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Ikkis is a war drama based on real-life events during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. In an earlier interview, Raghavan shared that the story deeply moved him. He said the film contains emotional moments along with battle scenes and action, but told in a different and fresh way. Known for thrillers, Raghavan said working on Ikkis was a refreshing change for him.

Besides Agastya, the film features a strong supporting cast including Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Ekavali Khanna, and Simar Bhatia. Ikkis promises to be a powerful tribute to a young hero and will likely offer a mix of action, emotion, and patriotism. Fans are eagerly waiting for the exact release date to be announced, but the film is confirmed to release in December 2025.

“In this office – my office – we believe in Bruce Springsteen.” “Let’s burn this place down, Jon.” 🎸 20th Century Studios has launched their final official trailer for the music biopic movie Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, a look back at the early days of Bruce Springsteen in the 80s creating his album called “Nebraska”. This rock ‘n roll musical biopic celebration will hit theaters nationwide in late October. In just a few weeks! Inspired by the book of the same name, it follows Bruce Springsteen’s journey in creating and recording his 1982 album “Nebraska” in his Jersey bedroom, which emerged just as he was recording “Born in the USA” with the E Street Band. The movie stars Jeremy Allen White as “The Boss”, and is written & directed by Scott Cooper. The full cast also includes Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s long-time confidant & manager, Jon Landau; Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan; Stephen Graham as Bruce’s father, Doug; Odessa Young as his love interest, Faye; Gaby Hoffman as Springsteen’s mom, Adele; Marc Maron as Chuck Plotkin; David Krumholtz as record exec Al Teller. The studio has already posted so many trailers for this, and featurettes, we’ve seen plenty and it looks pretty good. Rock on, Bruce.

Here’s the final official trailer (+ poster) for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, from YouTube:

You can rewatch the first trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere right here / second trailer here.

Made by 20th Century Studios, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 “Nebraska” album when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom (starring Jeremy Allen White as The Boss), struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past. Taped on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life & is considered one of his most enduring works—a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe. Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Scott Cooper, director of the films Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnace, Black Mass, Hostiles, Antlers, and The Pale Blue Eye previously. The screenplay is also written by Scott Cooper, based on the book “Deliver Me from Nowhere” by Warren Zanes. It’s produced by Cooper, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson and Scott Stuber. 20th Century Studios will release Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere film in theaters nationwide starting on October 24th, 2025 this fall.
