Ray J Claims He’d Beat Mario In Song Battle, He & Sammie React

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Ray J doesn’t usually do subtle, and this time he’s got his sights set on Mario. The R&B veteran recently stirred the pot in Baltimore, claiming he’s ready to go head-to-head with the ‘Let Me Love You’ singer in a song-for-song showdown. He insists Mario might not be prepared for the smoke, but the ‘Let Me Love You’ singer didn’t let him slide. Meanwhile, another R&B icon, Sammie, has picked his side, and social media is eating all of it up!

Ray J Says He Can Go Note-For-Note With Mario

During a recent sit-down on the ‘Quicksilva Morning Show,’ Ray J rocked a black hoodie and a matching black-and-white cap while making his case. When the hosts started rattling off Mario hits they thought Ray J couldn’t touch, he wasn’t having it. Every time a song title came up, he just shook his head and fired back with a simple, confident, “C’mon bro.” At one point, Ray J doubled down on his claim, telling the hosts, “I’m calling him out,” making it clear he’s ready to prove he can go note-for-note with Mario.

Now, all eyes are on whether Mario will actually step up to the challenge. While the exact spark for this back-and-forth remains unclear, Mario recently appeared on Cam Newton’s podcast and gave his takes on male vocalists who can — and can’t — sing. Interestingly, Ray J’s name never came up during the discussion, but the timing has fans connecting the dots.

Mario Drops First Reaction As The Innanet Roasts Ray J

The Shade Room comments were absolutely wild as fans ran in to share their takes on the Ray J vs. Mario drama. Some insisted Ray J was straight-up trolling and knew he couldn’t sing, while others were cracking up at the radio host’s disbelief during the interview. Even Mario himself had to step in to address the chaos, though some viewers just shook their heads, claiming that all R&B singers seem a little delusional when it comes to their own talent.

Mario wrote, “MOOD SWINGS OUT NOW!! But [Ray J] stop while your brakes still work homie 😂”

Instagram user @j.remyinspires wrote, “Ray J will say anything 😂😂😂I love it lolol“

And, Instagram user @tarkesha_jones joked, “He playing one wish for every song“

Meanwhile, Instagram user @lenathediva_ added, “Brandy… get ya brother lol“

Instagram user @rnb.radar said, “I love when my R&B men are this delu— I mean confident 👏🏾”

Finally, Instagram user @queenbforreal wrote, “Quick couldn’t believe what he was hearin😂😂😂😂”

Mario Was Not Impressed With Ray J Talking!

Mario also fired back at Ray J on his Instagram Story, calling him out for “talking crazy” while he’s busy grinding on tour and prepping his new EP. He also reminded fans that Ray’s biggest stage was the Verzuz battle — the one Mario helped set up and even made sure Ray was on the setlist for — and seemed genuinely confused that Ray would repay him with this type of energy.

“YOOO! My first tour show and “MOOD SWINGS” EP Release in VA had me busy, I come back to my room and Grayi in my HOME TOWN TALKING CRAZY!!!! I been living in La for 15+ years and have raged every stage in UR city RAY J including with your sister (the female singer goat) The biggest stage you touched was on VERZUZ and I told them to bring u on there. I set the whole play up and this how you coming….!?! OH ARRRDDD,” Mario shared.

Sammie Stands By THIS SINGER

Meanwhile, Sammie made sure to share his two cents! After Mario clapped back at Ray J’s song battle threat, Sammie hopped on Instagram to weigh in. He said he usually doesn’t step into drama, but he had to for Ray J. In a video, Sammie said, “I got my money on Ray J.” He claimed that Mario has “ruffled feathers all over the industry.” And apparently Ray recently hit the studio to show Mario what’s up, Sammie said. Ray later shared Sammie’s video on his Instagram Story.

How Nigerian Brand Orange Culture Beat the Odds

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

For the collection, Oke-Lawal has enlisted the help of top creatives. Seasoned stylist and fashion editor Ola Ebiti, who has worked with the likes of Tom Ford and Acne Studios, is styling the show. It was Orange Culture’s bold and progressive aesthetic that first drew Ebiti to the brand. “There needs to be a brand that can bridge the gap between Africa and the rest of the world,” he says. While the appetite for African brands is increasing among US consumers, Ebiti says, the styling and the visuals must be carefully crafted to translate the brand’s messaging in an international way. “It’s one thing to have really good ideas, but it’s another to really be able to bring that to fruition and serve clients. For me, that’s always been my goal for Orange Culture.”

Orange Culture, which launched in 2011 in Lagos, quickly became a household name. His clothing brought something fresh to the Nigerian market, providing consumers with interesting silhouettes and clean tailoring. As demand for his clothes grew, the Lagos-based designer quickly amassed a cult-following across West Africa. Three years after the brand’s inception, Orange Culture became the first African label to be shortlisted as a finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2014, catapulting the brand into the international spotlight. Off the back of the prize, Orange Culture secured popular stockists, including Browns and Farfetch, and has showcased collections in Paris, London, New York and at Pitti Uomo in Florence. (Orange Culture declined to share sales figures.)

Though, building a collection that is immensely personal comes with risk, the designer acknowledges. Whether it’s well received by buyers, press or fans of the brand is something that weighs on Oke-Lawal’s mind. “It is a concern, because at the end of the day, it’s still a business,” he says. “Over the last two years, I’ve been very catered to my customers; I can see what they want. But I think this one is for me… It’s a scary sacrifice, but one I’m willing to take right now.”

From Lagos to the world

For many African designers, building a leading fashion brand on the continent is not an easy endeavour. There are several socioeconomic challenges that make the day-to-day running of a fashion business incredibly complex — from power outages to domestic shipping hurdles and challenges importing raw materials. There are also limited opportunities for designers to learn, network and receive mentorship in Lagos, as the local industry remains nascent and fashion schools are incomparable to their international counterparts.

Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik’s Maddock Horror Comedy Universe has consistently captivated audiences with its unique blend of scares and humor. Following the success of Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2, the franchise’s latest chapter, the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Thamma, is now playing in theaters. But how does it fare in comparison on IMDb? Which of these five films holds the highest IMDb rating, and where does Thamma stand? Let’s find out.

Thamma vs Maddock Horror Comedy Universe – IMDb Ratings Compared

As of now, here’s how the IMDb user ratings stack up for all five films in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe:

  1. Stree (2018): 7.5/10
  2. Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank (2024): 6.9/10
  3. Bhediya (2022): 6.7/10
  4. Thamma (2025): 6.5/10

Among the five, the first film, Stree, remains the highest-rated entry with a 7.5 score, followed by Stree 2’s 6.9. Currently, Thamma holds an IMDb rating of 6.5/10, placing it just above Munjya and behind the other films in the Maddock horror-comedy universe.

Thamma – Box Office Comparison With the Franchise

Following its theatrical release on October 21, 2025, Thamma earned ₹25.11 crores on its first day in India. So far, the film has collected 153.20 crores (worldwide gross), and its box office run is still underway. Here’s how it compares to the other four films in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe:

  2. Stree: 180.76 crores
  3. Munjya: 131.26 crores

bitchy | Virginia Giuffre was trafficked to a ‘former prime minister’ who beat & choked her

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

The New York Times reviewed Virginia Giuffre’s posthumously published memoir, Nobody’s Girl. They called it “devastating” and extremely sad. Virginia was sexually abused from the age of 7 years old by her father, and then her father “traded” her to a family friend. She was also sexually assaulted by other men before Ghislaine Maxwell even saw her at Mar-a-Lago when she (Virginia) was just 16 years old. The NY Times notes that the most difficult sections of the memoir are the parts where Virginia is being trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Here’s the section of the review I wanted to talk about:

By now we’ve all heard of Little St. James Island, nicknamed Little St. Jeff’s, the 72-acre circle of hell in the Caribbean where so many girls were transported and coerced into servicing Epstein’s rich and powerful friends.

Rape, for her, came to seem routine: by older teens; by a construction worker after hitchhiking; by the ringleader of a high-priced escort service, who introduced her to hard drugs; and by an associate of his busted by the F.B.I., which returned her to … her father.

By then Sky Roberts was working in maintenance at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, and got her a job there as a towel attendant. Observing the masseuses in the plush spa, she thought this might be a career path.

The rest is horror story. (“Please don’t stop reading,” Giuffre writes at one point, acknowledging the cumulative effect of her “trauma reel.”) Sex with Marvin Minsky, an M.I.T. scientist 56 years her senior, his face “shriveled like one of those folk-art dolls whose heads are dried-up apples”; orgies staffed by the model scout Jean-Luc Brunel, who — like Epstein — died by suicide in prison; choking, beating and bloodying from a former prime minister, whom she refused to name because “I fear that this man will seek to hurt me if I say his name here.”

Having been ordered to tuck Epstein, her chief tormentor, into pink satin sheets at night, and shown his snapshots of underage nude girls as if they were etchings, Giuffre still summons the compassion to speculate that he, too, may have been abused as a child.

[From The NY Times]

“Former prime minister” is all anyone has to go on – she didn’t specify which country, and this would have been 2000-01. In the UK, the “former prime ministers” still alive would have been John Major, Margaret Thatcher, James Callaghan, Edward Heath… end of list. It could be a former Canadian prime minister. One person on Twitter had a theory that it could be Israel’s former PM Ehud Barak, who was reportedly close to Epstein. Barak is still alive, he’s in his 80s, so Virginia would have wanted to be especially careful not to name someone still alive, right? He was PM of Israel from 1999 through 2001. Is he the guy? Ugh. But as Giuffre’s memoir makes abundantly clear, Epstein’s circle at that time included so many powerful men, so many well-connected men.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office prediction: Rishab Shetty film may beat Saiyaara and Chhaava, but no match for OG, Coolie

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

The much-awaited prequel to Kantara is releasing in theatres this Dussehra (2 October). The festive release is not just one of the most high-profile Kannada films of all time, but also among the biggest festive releases pan-India this year. Early advance booking trends indicate a solid opening for the film, but also show that its pan-India aspirations may have been a little too lofty.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office prediction: Rishab Shetty plays the lead in and directs the film, a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara.

Kantara Chapter 1 advance bookings

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, which made over ₹400 crore at the box office. The upcoming film’s advance booking has crossed ₹12 crore gross for the opening day by 11 AM on the eve of its release. This figure is for all languages, and the number is dominated by the Kannada version, which alone accounts for ₹7.50 crore. The Hindi version is steadily rising with ₹2 crore advance booking gross so far.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office prediction

The original Kantara was a true pan-India hit, having earned ₹162 crore net in Kannada, ₹84 crore in Hindi, and ₹63 crore in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. This was despite the fact that its release was staggered. It was originally released only in Kannada, and the dubbed versions arrived only two weeks later. This time, the film is releasing in all five languages on one day, which will ensure a bigger opening. According to trade pundits, Kantara Chapter 1 is looking at a ₹30+ crore net opening in India. More liberal estimates put the number at even ₹40 crore.

This may include ₹15-17 crore from the Hindi version alone, a sizable number, but still less than what was initially expected. A week back, trade pundits were hoping for a ₹25-crore opening from Kantara Chapter 1 in Hindi alone. But those estimates have been lowered now.

Even then, a ₹35-40 crore opening for Kantara Chapter 1 would mean it will outdo every Bollywood release of the year, including Saiyaara ( ₹22 crore), Sikandar ( ₹26 crore), and Chhaava ( ₹31 crore). However, it is no match for some of the biggest pan-India releases of the year, such as Pawan Kalyan’s OG ( ₹84 crore) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie ( ₹65 crore).

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Kantara Chapter 1 stars Rishab Shetty in a tale set centuries before the events of the first Kantara. The film explores the birth of the mysteries depicted in the first film. It also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. The film releases across India on 2 October.

Da Brat Recalls Being In Prison When Michael Jackson Passed Away: ‘Almost Beat A B***h A**’ After Hearing The News

Da Brat is sharing the moment she learned Michael Jackson had transitioned and her immediate reaction.

In a new interview on the “We Sound Crazy” podcast, the rapper revealed she was incarcerated when news broke of Jackson’s d*ath in 2009. She was serving time for aggravated a$$ault and had not yet heard the official reports when another inmate blurted it out.

“When he d*ed, I was in prison. And I almost beat a b***h a** when they said he was d*ad,” Da Brat said. “I hadn’t heard that he had passed yet. And she had said he d*ed. I about whooped that b***h a** and got sent to the hole.”

The “Funkdafied” rapper explained how deeply Jackson’s passing affected her.

“He’s tattooed all on my whole leg,” she shared. “That hurt me closer than some family members passing away.”

Da Brat also expressed regret over never meeting the King of Pop.

“And then JD was dating Janet, so I was going to get my chance to finally meet him,” she said. “That hurt me. I couldn’t be at the funeral or nothing. I wanted to say goodbye.”

Reflecting on the experience, she added, “My family’s there. Usher sang. I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ And I was like, I ain’t never ever getting in trouble again, ’cause I lost so many opportunities.”

How did you react to The King of Pop passing away?

Surgeon weighs in on bariatric surgery vs weight loss drugs to beat obesity: Do GLP-1 drugs work better? | Health

by jummy84 September 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Do you know that worldwide, since 1990, adult obesity has more than doubled and adolescent obesity has quadrupled? These World Health Organization (WHO) figures tell a grim story of a disturbing health pattern. Being overweight can be a long-term problem that makes you more likely to get type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep apnea, and even increase the risk of certain types of cancer. Your general lifestyle gets affected: tiredness, joint pain, and reduced mobility become a way of life. For people dealing with extreme obesity, doctors suggest that treatment needs to do more than just help people lose weight quickly. It also needs to deal with the biological and metabolic factors that cause the problem, says bariatric surgeon Dr Ashish Gautam, Senior Director, Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery, Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi.

Severe obesity needs medical intervention. (Adobe Stock)

“Bariatric surgery and GLP-1-based medications (weight loss drugs) have become two of the most significant options for treating obesity in recent years, each with its own benefits, drawbacks, and long-term effects,” Dr Gautam tells Health Shots.

How GLP-1 medications work and what you can expect

GLP-1 receptor agonists like Ozempic are injectable and oral drugs that work like glucagon-like peptide-1, a hormone that helps control appetite and blood sugar levels. They make the stomach empty more slowly, make people less hungry, and help them feel full with smaller amounts of food. Many people start to lose weight within weeks, and their blood sugar levels often get better at the same time.

But these drugs do not work all the time. The doctor explains: “They do not change the way the body stores fat or how it changes over time in terms of metabolism. If the medication is stopped, appetite and weight often come back, especially if there are no changes to diet or activity level. In practice, you need to keep using them to keep getting the benefits, which makes them more of a long-term treatment than a one-time fix.”

Side effects of GLP-1 medications

Many people who take this medicine reportedly complaint of nausea, bloating, constipation, and stomach pain as side effects. “While most people can handle them, some stop taking them because they keep having stomach problems. Pancreatitis and gallbladder problems are also rare but serious complications that need to be watched closely. People who have had these kinds of problems in the past may be told not to use these medications,” adds Dr Gautam.

The cost – approximately ₹10,000-20,000 for injectables – every month, may be another factor to consider in case long-term use of weight loss drugs is planned. “People who do not have type 2 diabetes may not always have insurance. The cost can make it hard to stick with it in the long term. Also, losing weight quickly from medication without a structured resistance-training program could cause patients to lose lean muscle, making them feel weaker instead of stronger,” says the expert.

Is bariatric surgery for severe obesity better?

In some severe obesity cases, doctors suggest a bariatric surgery for long-term benefits. Bariatric surgery has two types: sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass. These don’t just make your stomach smaller, but also change the hormones in your gut, the signals that tell you you’re hungry, and how your body breaks down food.

“Many patients say they feel less hungry without taking medication. The surgery changes the anatomy and hormonal environment of the gastrointestinal tract, which is why this happens. There are many more benefits than just losing weight. Surgery can help people with type 2 diabetes stay in remission, lower their blood pressure, and fix or improve sleep apnea, polycystic ovarian disease, and metabolic syndrome. The chances of getting cancers linked to being overweight, especially breast and colon cancer, are also lower,” explains Dr Ashish Gautam about the benefits of bariatric surgery.

For obese patients who deal with type 2 diabetes, blood sugar levels go down within days of surgery. The need for insulin drops a lot, and some patients go into remission for years. This is because the surgery changes how sensitive insulin is and how hormones are released in the gut, he adds.

Citing a ARMMS-T2D study, which took place over 12 years at four major US research centers, he points out how bariatric surgery patients kept off an average of 20% of their weight, while those who received medical and lifestyle interventions only lost 8% of their weight. More than half of surgical patients achieved HbA1c levels under 7%, and diabetes remission was significantly more common and persistent. Even people with a BMI of 27 to 34 saw benefits.

What are the side effects of bariatric surgery?

One of the side effects of bariatric surgery is that it may lead to nutritional deficiencies like low iron post-surgery. This can usually be avoided by taking supplements and monitoring health parameters.

“Most bariatric surgeries today are done with small incisions or robotic help, so patients often leave the hospital in two to three days. Recovery is quicker, and there are fewer complications than with older open surgeries. Following the procedure with proper nutrition and strength-focused exercise helps protect muscle, keeping strength and energy levels up while losing weight,” he says.

Bariatric surgery vs GLP-1 drugs

According to the surgeon, bariatric surgery always leads to more weight loss that lasts longer than GLP-1 drugs. Drugs can have big effects in the short term, but stopping them often means gaining weight back.

  • Metabolic effect: Surgery changes hormones right away and for a long time, which helps regulate appetite and glucose metabolism. GLP-1 drugs have similar effects, but they need to be taken all the time and stop working when you stop taking them.
  • Risks and side effects: There are risks involved with surgery, but modern methods have made complications less likely. Medicines don’t have the same risks as surgery, but they can upset the stomach and, in rare cases, cause more serious problems.
  • Cost: The cost of surgery up front can be high, but insurance will often pay for it if certain medical conditions are met. You have to keep paying for GLP-1 drugs, which can add up to more than the cost of surgery over a number of years.
  • Lifestyle commitment: Both methods require changes to your lifestyle. Surgery patients need to change how they eat and keep taking their vitamins, while medication users get the most out of their medications when they are also following a diet and exercise program.

“For those who prefer to avoid surgery, want to lose weight beforehand, or can’t undergo surgery for medical reasons, GLP-1 medications can be an option. They may also suit people who are moderately overweight or want to try appetite suppression before considering surgery,” says Dr Gautam.

He adds that surgery remains the most effective option for people with severe obesity, especially when other health conditions are also present.

“Some patients may do better with a combination of treatments. For example, they could start with GLP-1 medication to lose weight and lower the risk of surgery, and then have surgery to keep the weight off for good. When pharmacologic therapy stops working as well, some people may switch from medication to surgery,” says Dr Gautam.

A word of caution

Before you choose between bariatric surgery and GLP-1 therapy, you need to have a full medical evaluation, talk about your goals, and be honest about how long you plan to stick with it. Both can be useful, but how well they work depends on each person’s health, ability to stick to lifestyle changes, and ability to follow up with care.

Alzheimer’s, one of the most common causes of dementia, is one of the fast-evolving public health concerns. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Aravind Badiger, technical director, BDR Pharmaceuticals said, “In India alone, nearly 5.3 million people are impacted and Alzheimer’s accounts for approximately 70% of them. While age remains the largest risk factor, current scientific research is increasingly showing that our daily decisions can affect brain health and can even lower the risk of Alzheimer’s.” Also read | Early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in your 20s? Dr Aravind Badiger further shared key brain habits that can help in avoiding Alzheimer’s:

1. Stay active physically

Exercise regularly will boost blood flow to the brain, suppress inflammation, and stimulate the release of protective chemicals. Even 30 minutes of brisk walking, yoga, or cycling a day, five days a week, will sharply lower the risk of intellectual decline.

2. Challenge the mind

Brain exercise is mental exercise. Reading, puzzles, learning another language, or playing an instrument exercises brain links and builds cognitive reserve that delays dementia.

In the study, the team led by Universite de Montreal psychology professor Sylvie Belleville, found hyperactivation in certain brain areas in people not yet diagnosed with Alzheimer's but who were worried about their memory and who exhibited risk factors for the disease.(Unsplash)

3. Eating food that nourishes the brain

Better brain function is linked to a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, fish, and healthy fats. A diet rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids reduces cognitive impairment risk. Also read | Walking daily may protect your brain from Alzheimer’s, reveals 10-year study

4. Get enough sleep

The brain’s health is determined by having sufficient sleep. At deep sleep, the brain also removes harmful proteins such as beta-amyloid, which is linked with Alzheimer’s disease. Adults require 7–8 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night.

5. Reduce stress

Chronic stress and depression both accelerate brain aging. Evidence-based strategies to promote mental health and cognitive performance include mindfulness, meditation, relaxation breathing techniques, and physical relaxation activities.

6. Continue to be socially active

Developing relationships with people protects the brain, but social isolation raises the risk of dementia. Both intellectual and emotional stimulation can be obtained through encouraging communication, taking part in group activities, and having deep discussions.
