More details are surfaced regarding the death of Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers. Meanwhile, the band has vowed to carry on with its upcoming tour.

TMZ has reported that authorities in St. Johns County, Florida, responded to a call this past Saturday, October 18th, for a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest.” The St. Johns County Sheriff’s office has not yet determined a cause of death, but deputies noted that their response was part of an “attended death” call, meaning that the deceased individual had been battling a serious or life-threatening illness with death as an expected outcome.

The new details shed light on the state of Rivers health when he passed. The 48-year-old bassist had recently been seen wearing a “Fuck Cancer” shirt while performing onstage, leading fans to speculate that he had been battling the disease. Limp Bizkit bandmate DJ Lethal also posted a photo of Rivers performing in the T-shirt with the hashtag #fuckcancer following Rivers’ passing.

Several years ago, Rivers underwent a liver transplant after suffering from liver disease due to excessive drinking. In Jon Wiederhorn’s 2020 book Raising Hell (Backstage Tales From the Lives of Metal Legends), Rivers recounted, “It got so bad I had to go to UCLA Hospital and the doctor said, ‘If you don’t stop, you’re going to die. And right now, you’re looking like you need a new liver.’ I fought liver disease for a couple years and it won. I had to get a liver transplant in 2017.”

As for Limp Bizkit, the band appears to be carrying on with its upcoming concert dates — a Latin American run with Yungblud, 311, and more that kicks off November 29th at the Explanada del Estadio Banorte in Mexico City. The promoter of that show broke the news in a statement on Monday (via The PRP), revealing that “Limp Bizkit has decided to continue with its performance on November 29th,” implying that the nu-metal vets will complete the seven-show jaunt as planned.

Limp Bizkit announced the death of Rivers on October 18th. Frontman Fred Durst later posted an emotional tribute video, stating, “It’s so tragic that he’s not here right now, and I’ve gone through gallons and gallons of tears since yesterday, and I’m thinking, ‘Sam’s a legend.’”

DJ Lethal left an additional comment on Instagram, writing, “We love you Sam Rivers. Please respect the family’s privacy at this moment. Give Sam his flowers and play Sam Rivers basslines all day! We are in shock. Rest in power my brother! You will live on through your music and the lives you helped save with your music, charity work and friendships. We are heartbroken. Enjoy every millisecond of life. It’s not guaranteed.”

Rivers’ cause of death has not been revealed.

He was diagnosed with liver disease in 2011 and received a liver transplant in 2017. Within this time period, he took a short hiatus from his work with Limp Bizkit — but was back with the band by 2018.

Limp Bizkit’s breakthrough came with the nu-metal band’s 1997 debut album, Three Dollar Bill, Y’all — featuring their cover version of George Michael’s “Faith,” which picked up radio airplay and had a music video in rotation on MTV and the network’s then-popular TRL (Total Request Live). But it was their 1999 sophomore album Significant Other that reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the first time, and the set received three Grammy nominations — in the categories of best rock album and best hard rock performance (for their hit “Nookie,” as well as album track “Take a Look Around”). They’d have another Billboard 200 No. 1 with the 2000 album Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water.

Limp Bizkit recently returned to No. 1 on a Billboard chart for the first time since 2011. The single “Making Love to Morgan Wallen” debuted atop Hot Hard Rock Songs, Alternative Digital Song Sales and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales the week of Sept. 27, 2025.

Wife of Weezer Bassist Avoids Jail Time After Shooting at LAPD Officers

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

A judge has granted a mental health diversion to Jillian Lauren, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, allowing her to avoid jail time after she fired a gun at LAPD officers.

Lauren was charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing a gun at police who were pursuing three suspects in a hit-and-run chase in April 2025. Although she was not connected to the incident, she opened fire on officers when they entered her property during the manhunt. Body camera footage captured officers repeatedly ordering Lauren to drop her weapon; when she racked her gun, they returned fire and wounded her.

According to the Los Angeles Times, L.A. County Superior Court Judge Susan J. DeWitt granted Lauren’s mental health diversion under the condition that she must not own firearms, avoid the use of drugs and alcohol, and attend therapy. If she successfully complies with the terms for two years, the charges against her will be dismissed.

Lauren and Shriner have been married since 2005 and have two adopted sons together. She has penned two New York Times best-selling books, including Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, an autobiographical account of her experiences as a former call girl for the Prince of Brunei.

Yard Act are working on their third album with former Nine Inch Nails and Beck bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen

by jummy84 September 22, 2025

Yard Act have revealed that they are currently in the studio working on their third album with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen.

The Leeds band released their second record ‘Where’s My Utopia?’ in March 2024 and have been touring steadily in the time since, but now they have confirmed that they are working in Nave Studio in their hometown on their next LP.

Posting on Instagram this week, they wrote: “Hello from @nave_studios, where we’re making the greatest third album any band has ever recorded, with our new pal @justinmeldaljohnsen.”

They also made reference to BBC Radio 6 Music’s ‘T-Shirt Day’ celebration of vintage artist tees, showing off their respective Kurt Vile, Bad Brains, Napalm Death, Nuha Ruby Ra and Bill Nelson t-shirts. “YALP3 will be the sweet spot between Napalm Death and Bill Nelson,” they quipped.

Yard Act co-produced ‘Where’s My Utopia?’ with Remi Kabaka Jr, who is best known as the drummer and producer for Gorillaz, but as they have revealed, this time around they are working alongside Meldal-Johnsen.

The American musician and producer served as the musical director for Beck from 1996 until 2016 and played as a touring bassist, guitarist and keyboardist for Nine Inch Nails in 2008 and 2009. He has also worked as a musical director for St. Vincent since 2021 and in 2023, he resumed touring with Beck.

As a producer, he has worked on a number of high profile projects, including M83’s ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ (2011), Wolf Alice’s ‘Visions Of A Life’ (2017), Deafheaven’s ‘Infinite Granite’ (2021) and St. Vincent’s ‘All Born Screaming’ (2024).

Before the end of the year, Yard Act will serve as the opening act on The Hives’ UK and European tour, which kicks off in Oslo on October 17 and includes shows in Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and London at the end of November. See the full list of dates here and find any remaining tickets here.

In a four-star review of ‘Where’s My Utopia?’, NME wrote: “In between samples from their comedy pals – standups Nish Kumar and Rose Matafeo – and references to all sorts of uniquely British phenomena: from ‘Fizzy Fish’ to Calpol and, er, Milton Keynes. Where’s My Utopia?’ marks an outlandish yet assertive second chapter for Yard Act, going toe-to-toe with the peculiar world that we find ourselves in.”
