Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz Series About Their Lives In Development

by jummy84 December 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Everybody knows Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz and the legend of “I Love Lucy.” But do they really?

There have been several movies over the years about the two icons, including Aaron Sorkin’s recent “Being the Ricardos.” But the story of “Lucy and Desi” goes far beyond the smash success of “I Love Lucy,” and that’s what got Lucie Arnaz — the daughter of the late Hollywood icons — thinking about doing something bigger. Arnaz has partnered with former NBC Entertainment and WarnerMedia Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt to develop what they envision as a three-season deep dive into the lives of Ball and Arnaz, from the couple’s separate tumultuous upbringings to making TV history with “I Love Lucy” — and then the clashes that led to their eventual divorce.

Arnaz and Greenblatt have recruited Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Richard LaGravenese (“The Fisher King,” “Behind the Candelabra”) to create the series, which will rely on source material including autobiographies written by Ball and Arnaz, the rights of which have reverted to Arnaz. Greenblatt’s The Green Room and Arnaz’s Desilu Productions are behind the project, which will also be produced by Green Room content head Jon Wu.

“If you’re really willing to look at the whole thing, there’s quite a story there, and a lot to be learned,” Arnaz said. “It’s very emotional, and it’s not what people think. It’s not just all about ‘I Love Lucy.’”

Arnaz and Greenblatt have put together a pitch deck for the series, with the working title “Lucy and Desi: The Greatest Story Never Told,” and plan to start meeting with networks and streamers in the coming months. The timing of the pitch comes as “I Love Lucy” celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2026 (the show debuted in October 1951) and on the heels of two new books exploring the couple: “Desi Arnaz, The Man Who Invented Television,” by Todd S. Purdum, and Arnaz’s own new look at her parents’ relationship, “Lucy & Desi: The Love Letters,” which she edited.

“As we take it to buyers, there’s a version of this that could be 10 hours and done, if somebody wants to jump in with that,” Greenblatt said. “But we want to present it as a multi-season show. We think it’s three seasons of eight episodes. Obviously, we have to find the right buyer and cater to what they want to do. But it needs to have time to breathe. It really is an extraordinary story, from when they’re each teenagers in their separate worlds — one being Cuba as it’s coming apart at the seams, and one being very WASPy New York. They were both thrust out on their own, quickly at a young age, to try to figure out who they were and find their way in the business. Then they converge in 1940 on a soundstage at RKO, doing a movie together. ‘I Love Lucy’ is 11 years later, but that’s 11 years when they’re together in a marriage that’s up and down and complex.”

Arnaz and Greenblatt were inspired by the timeline of Netflix’s “The Crown” to similarly divide “Lucy and Desi” into different eras. In their pitch, Season 1, “From Cuba and Jamestown to New York and Hollywood,” would focus on 1930 to 1940; Season 2, “Family Life, B-Movies and Radio,” would span from 1940 to 1951; and Season 3, “The Ricardos Catch Fire, and Beyond,” would look at the “I Love Lucy” era, from 1951 to 1960 and more.

In partnering with LaGravenese (who most recently penned Paramount+’s upcoming “Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey”) and not a comedy writer, Arnaz said it was important to explore some of the darker aspects of her parents’ relationship in addition to the good times.

“The story is not all ha-ha. There’s a lot of sadness, there’s addiction, and there’s cheating, and there’s lots of fights for no reason,” she said. “There’s something to be learned from what they went through and how it’s not that easy to have it all… They had this wonderful legacy, which just happens to be the funniest show ever. But they’re more than that show. Their lives, individually and collectively, were very exciting and amazing and deep. Finding the right writer was hard because most people might think that, because we’re doing the story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz that it’s going to be really funny. And it’s going to have great kinds of humor in it. But it’s not ‘I Love Lucy.’ It’s not a sitcom. Everybody says, ‘your father invented television,’ but in reality, that’s not at all what he was trying to do. They were just trying to stay together, and do a show.”

Arnaz and Greenblatt first collaborated when he produced a 40th anniversary reunion concert benefit for “They’re Playing Our Song,” the musical that served as her Broadway debut. Around the same time, Arnaz was an executive producer on “Being the Ricardos,” but ultimately that film focused mostly on one moment in time in the Lucy/Desi relationship — and so, Arnaz brought the idea of a much broader look at her parents to Greenblatt, and they started collaborating on what would become this series pitch.

“Lucie has this ability to separate herself from being in the middle of it and really see it from an objective point of view,” Greenblatt said. “She’s the first person to say, ‘we want to do it warts and all, and we don’t want to just whitewash it and protect everybody.’ It really is complex. Can we get underneath the causes and the reasons for the way they were. We all think they’re the Ricardos. There’s a part of them that’s who they were, but that’s so little of the full picture.”

LeGravenese entered the picture when Arnaz and Greenblatt went looking for somebody who could balance the comedy of “I Love Lucy” with the drama of what happened behind the scenes.

“Richard came to mind, as he’s got this great background in writing feature films prominently for most of his life and more recently television,” Greenblatt said. “I love his ‘Behind the Candelabra’ movie, for which he won the Emmy. When we presented the idea to him, he just lit up. He’s like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve loved these two people as a fan, and I’ve gone down the rabbit hole on the internet many times.’ He just knew a lot about the story already. Then we all met, and Lucie met him, and he just felt like the right guy.”

Added Arnaz: “There’s been now two TV movies and a feature film and my documentary, but none of those other films ever looked at, ‘OK, that happened and that happened, but why? Why did he do that? Why did she respond that way?’ I wanted to correct that. If nothing else, I wanted to be able to look at them as people and say, ‘aren’t they interesting? Imagine, even with all that sorrow and all that loss, he was able to do this. And then he had to drink. Well, why did he have hookers? Why did that happen?’ And so if we can show the early and go all the way to the end, in some way, we might be able to help people understand them even more.”

EXCLUSIVE! Children’s Day Special: Manpasand Ki Shaadi Fame Akshun Mahajan Reveals He Still Watches Batman, Dragon Ball Z

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Akshun Mahajan, who has already won viewers’ hearts with his charming screen presence and impressive performances, continues to shine with every new project. The actor earned widespread love and appreciation for playing the lead role in Rajshri Productions’ Manpasand Ki Shaadi on Colors TV, where his natural acting and emotional range made him a standout favorite among fans.

On the occasion of Children’s Day today, Akshun Mahajan takes a nostalgic trip back to the moments, cartoons, and lessons that shaped the person he is today.

Akshun Mahajan Reveals His Childhood Dreams

During an exclusive conversation, Akshun Mahajan reveals his childhood was filled with superheroes, animated battles, and simple joys that still stay with him. For him, childhood entertainment meant two things – Batman and Dragon Ball Z. Akshun admits he still watches them every single day, even if it’s just for five minutes. He shares, “It’s my way of reliving those old times,” Whether it’s early morning or late at night, these shows continue to bring him comfort.

Interestingly, before acting entered his life, Akshun had an entirely different dream — one inspired straight from the world of Goku. “I wanted to go Super Saiyan.” As a child, Mahajan spent hours trying to transform into the powerful form he admired so much. That childhood fantasy, he says, made him believe in becoming stronger and evolving constantly.

These shows didn’t just entertain him; they shaped his values, too. Akshun credits Batman for teaching him loyalty, ethics, and the importance of staying true to one’s path. From Dragon Ball Z, he learned the meaning of family and the importance of remembering your roots. He reflects, “These two cartoons played a big part in making me who I am.”

Akshun Recalls Flying ‘A Lot’ Of Kites As A Kid

When asked about a childhood memory that still brings a smile, Akshun lights up instantly. He recalls long winters in Punjab spent flying kites on the terrace, especially during the January kite festival. He said, “I used to fly a lot of kites actually, the entire winter until Baisakhi. Easily one of my fondest memories. And still, when I get the chance, I do travel back home and I go fly kites at my old terrace.”

This Children’s Day, Akshun Mahajan reminds us that the kid inside us never really goes away – and maybe, that’s the best part of growing up.

Happy Children’s Day!

Soft Cell’s Dave Ball Dies at 66

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Dave Ball, the multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter who performed alongside Marc Almond in the influential synth-pop duo Soft Cell, died yesterday (October 22). The band’s publicist, Debbie Ball, confirmed the news, writing that Ball died peacefully in his sleep at his London home. No cause was given. The musician was 66 years old.

Raised in Blackpool, England, after his adoption into a working-class family, Ball grew up a budding artist with a penchant for the Northern soul craze then sweeping the north of England, obsessively collecting Tamla and Stax singles. He moved to Leeds to study fine art in his late teens and met fellow student Almond, a lamé-clad performance artist. The pair bonded over punk and electronic music and cult films; after a few weeks of futzing with a Korg synthesizer, Ball enlisted his flamboyant new friend as a bandmate.

They were a strange pair—“Marc, this gay bloke in makeup; and me, a big guy who looked like a minder,” as Ball put it to The Guardian in 2017—but the contrast neatly superimposed onto their musical loves. They named the duo Soft Cell, punning on what they called “consumerist nightmares and suburban insanity,” and made songs amalgamating an unlikely trinity of Kraftwerk, Suicide, and cabaret. They made their live debut “at a college Christmas show two short months after they met, performing ramshackle, anticonsumerist songs against a backdrop of Super 8 films of destroyed radios and industrial landscapes,” Pitchfork’s Eric Torres wrote in his review of the band’s debut album, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. “The art-punk spark was lit.”

An early breakout single, “Memorabilia,” co-produced by Mute founder Daniel Miller, united their love of kitsch and acid house in a floor-filler that suggested the underground, avant-garde curios of their Some Bizzare label cadre were about to boil over. The eruption came with “Tainted Love,” a tempestuous, darkly intoxicating cover of a Gloria Jones song Ball had heard in a club as a teenager. Backed by a cover of the Supremes’ “Where Did Our Love Go,” the single was the United Kingdom’s second-best seller of 1981 and topped the charts in more than a dozen other countries.

The hit, and the debut album that followed, affixed Soft Cell in British music history: contemporaries of Depeche Mode and path-makers for bands like Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, and Spandau Ballet, even if Almond accused some of that crop of making heartless music “to pose against the Berlin Wall to.” The duo released two more studio albums in the ensuing years, The Art of Falling Apart and This Last Night in Sodom; both charted in the United Kingdom, despite the latter’s release after the group’s dissolution. Soft Cell also released one of the first remix albums, Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing, and Ball, closely attuned to the evolution of electronic music, would fashion 12″ edits of their singles by splicing together segments of tape. Almond and Ball’s embrace of the clubland party lifestyle, and substance use, contributed to their split. As Ball wrote in his 2020 autobiography, Electronic Boy, “We’d been so successful very quickly, in constant demand and therefore always together—living out of each other’s pockets. I don’t think any relationship could have endured that pressure.”

Jeezy shared the red carpet at his 5th annual Sno Ball Gala with his toddler, Monaco Jenkins, on Thursday night (Oct. 9) in Atlanta. Jeezy and his ex-wife Jeannie Mai welcomed baby Monaco in 2022.

The father-daughter duo stepped out in their best threads for the rapper’s annual fundraising event, him in a suit while the 3-year-old served age-appropriate glam in a gold dress and matching tiara.

Taking place at the Delta Flight Museum, the upscale event hosted the likes of Lil Jon, T.I., Ludacris, and more. The gala is coordinated through Jeezy’s  Street Dreamz Foundation to raise funds for underserved communities.  According to the official website, the non-profit was launched in 2001 by the Soul Survivor performer to encourage a generation of at-risk youth to become effective leaders through programs that foster independence and respect for others, while educating and motivating each child to reach their ultimate potential in their area of interest.

Fans of the 48-year-old can soon see the rapper as he extended his Thug Motivation 101 Live anniversary tour with a Las Vegas residency. The first part takes on a masquerade theme and will take place on October 31 and November 1. The second edition will be Nutcracker-themed and occur on December 19 and 21.

“If you don’t call that Black excellence and leveling up, then I don’t know what is,” remarked Jeezy when the concert was announced.

Andrew Lloyd Webber Loved Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball: 'World Superstar'

Andrew Lloyd Webber Loved Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball: ‘World Superstar’

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

It’d be fair to call Andrew Lloyd Webber a Little Monster. On Saturday, the musical theater giant shared a video praising Lady Gaga‘s performance at the O2 Arena in London, calling it a “fabulous” live show, and celebrating a portion of a show reminiscent of Phantom of the Opera.

“I loved the Lady Gaga concert. It was really fabulous. She really knows how to handle an audience. And it was a great evening,” Webber said in a video posted to Instagram. “It was so wonderful, actually, to see somebody really singing live, rather than, as we know, some artists who are really miming to a pre-recorded track. And there was nothing of that.”

Webber celebrated Gaga’s references to opera at large, but also a particular poignant moment in the night when the singer emulates a scene in Phantom, during which she is rowed in a boat onstage while singing “Shallow.”

“I was really, really pleased to see an opera house on stage, and even more pleased to see a boat with her in it being rowed across the big auditorium, that is O2,” Webber said. “It reminded me of something that I might have had a little involvement with.”

He added: “I thought the concert was absolutely fabulous. And I think Lady Gaga is absolutely a world superstar.”

Gaga caught wind of Webber’s acknowledgment on TikTok, leaving a comment under his post, saying, “This is. adream come true.”

Gaga is currently on the European leg of her Mayhem Ball tour, and is scheduled to perform in Stockholm, Milan, and Barcelona through the end of this month. She’ll wrap the run’s first leg in Australia in December, before visiting Japan and returning stateside early next year.

Trending Stories

Rolling Stone lauded Gaga’s tour opener in Las Vegas over the summer, calling her a “fearless storyteller” and describing the run a “legacy-defining” moment in her career.

Andrew Lloyd Webber on Lady Gaga’s ‘Mayhem Ball’ show in London: “Absolutely fabulous”

Andrew Lloyd Webber on Lady Gaga’s ‘Mayhem Ball’ show in London: “Absolutely fabulous”

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Andrew Lloyd Webber has heavily praised Lady Gaga’s ‘Mayhem Ball’ show in London, describing it as “absolutely fabulous”.

The pop singer played a run of four shows in the O2 Arena in recent weeks as part of the tour supporting her latest album ‘Mayhem’, which was her seventh straight Number One record.

In attendance at one of the shows was musical theatre legend Webber, who shared his reaction to the show in a video on Instagram, in which he heaped praise on Gaga and saved special mention for the portion of the show in which she performs ‘Shallow’ in a rowing boat, in a nod to his production of The Phantom Of The Opera.

“I loved the Lady Gaga concert,” he said. “It was really fabulous. She really knows how to handle an audience. And it was a great evening.”

“It was so wonderful, actually, to see somebody really singing live, rather than, as we know, some artists who are really miming to a pre-recorded track. And there was nothing of that.”

“I was really, really pleased to see an opera house on stage, and even more pleased to see a boat with her in it being rowed across the big auditorium, that is O2,” he added. “It reminded me of something that I might have had a little involvement with.”

“I thought the concert was absolutely fabulous. And I think Lady Gaga is absolutely a world superstar.”

Gaga herself responded to his comments, replying to a video on TikTok: “This is. adream come true.”

NME was also at one of the London shows, writing in a glowing five star review: “Then, flames begin to flicker on top of the opera house behind her and she leaves the stage for the encore, returning make-up free, in a simple black outfit and beanie over the hair that’s been covered by countless wigs tonight. It’s a nod to the real person behind this artful masterpiece, but also another performance. Like every other that has come before it, though, it’s just perfect.”

The tour continues around Europe in the coming weeks – you can find all the dates and ticket information here.

In a four-star review of the ‘Mayhem’ album, NME wrote: “Ultimately, ‘Mayhem’ feels like a great Gaga album because it’s just so much fun. At times, it’s a bit like reconnecting with an old friend who makes sense even when they seem to be chatting nonsense. When she sings ‘river in my eyes, I’ve got a poem in my throat‘ on ‘LoveDrug’, it’s just her overblown way of saying she’s sad and tongue-tied.

“Seventeen years after she broke through with ‘Just Dance’, Lady Gaga remains pop’s foremost agent of impeccably crafted chaos.”

Les Mis to host 40th anniversary gala with Alfie Boe and Michael Ball

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Guests will include ex-Jean Valjeans Alfie Boe and Michael Ball alongside Patti LuPone, Carrie Hope Fletcher and star of the Les Mis movie Samantha Barks.

The company of nearly 100 performers will be giving an in-concert version of the show’s soundtrack, similarly to the previous 25th and 30th anniversary runs.

All proceeds from the gala will go to UK food charities The Felix Project and UKHarvest, which work to rescue and redistribute healthy food to families in London.

Following the announcement, the show’s long-time producer Cameron Mackintosh said: “It is an extraordinary feeling to be celebrating our 40th Anniversary of Les Misérables on London’s Shaftesbury Avenue.

Les Mis. Deen Van Meer

“Having staged several of our other milestone performances in iconic venues like the Royal Albert Hall for our 10th or the o2 Arena for our 25th, I wanted to bring this special celebration home back to its roots.

“Unlike any other musical in history, Les Misérables has continuously triumphed in, not one, but two different and equally successful stagings of the musical, a hugely successful Oscar-winning movie, and spectacular staged concerts in both vast arenas and theatres around the world.

“Victor Hugo’s creation has proved to have no bounds, continuing to reach new corners of the Earth, playing to different races in their own languages, swept along by Boublil and Schönberg’s inspirational musical score. The reaction of the audience, wherever they are on the planet, is always uplifting; just as Victor Hugo hoped it would be when he first published the novel in 1845.”

Tickets for the gala will go on sale this Friday, but you can already get tickets to the show’s special anniversary performances taking place from 8th September to 3rd November.

When is the Les Misérables 40th anniversary gala?

The gala will take place on Les Mis’s actual anniversary of 8th October, and will be held at London’s Sondheim Theatre.

Who is confirmed for the Les Misérables 40th anniversary gala?

A company of nearly 100 performers will perform at the 40th anniversary gala. Including West End and Broadway legends Patti LuPone, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Samantha Barks, and Carrie Hope Fletcher.

Not to mention, returning faces Matt Lucas, Frances Ruffelle, Gerónimo Rauch, Jeremy Secomb and Bonnie Langford.

Who Is the Dad Who Gave the Ball Back? – Hollywood Life

A wild moment at the Phillies vs. Marlins game quickly went viral after a foul ball in the stands turned into an unexpected fan controversy. Cameras caught a woman—now being dubbed the “Phillies Karen”—taking the prized souvenir from a child with the help of a nearby dad who handed it over. The clip spread rapidly across social media, sparking debates about ballpark etiquette, fairness, and sportsmanship, while viewers called on the internet to “do its thing” in identifying the woman.

Now, many are wondering: who exactly was the dad who gave up the ball, and why did he surrender it back to her?

What Happened Between Fans at the Phillies vs. Marlins Game?

During the fourth inning of the Phillies–Marlins game, outfielder Harrison Bader hit a home run into the stands. A father retrieved the ball and handed it to his son, who was celebrating his birthday.

A few moments later, the “Phillies Karen” approached claiming the ball was hers and insisting he return it. Under pressure and hoping to de-escalate the situation, the dad took the ball from his son’s glove and handed it over. The moment was caught on video and quickly spread online, triggering widespread outrage. In response, the Marlins organization and Bader stepped in: a Marlins staffer gave the son a gift bag, and Bader himself later presented the boy with a signed bat to make the moment right again.

Why Is the Woman Being Called the “Phillies Karen”?

The woman earned the “Phillies Karen” moniker after she aggressively demanded the home run ball. Her confrontational behavior in front of a child quickly became a flashpoint on social media, making her the poster figure for entitled fan behavior.

Social media sleuths mistakenly identified a woman named Cheryl Richardson Wagner as the culprit. One was rumored to be a schoolteacher, and another a nurse in New Jersey—though both have gone on record denying they were involved.

“OK everyone … I’m NOT the crazy Philly Mom (but I sure would love to be as thin as she is and as fast),” Wagner wrote in a public statement.

The true identity of the woman who took the ball from the young boy remains unconfirmed.

Who Is the Dad Who Handed the Ball to the ‘Phillies Karen’?

The man involved was Drew Feltwell, who was at the game with his family, including his young son, Lincoln.

Speaking to NBC Philadelphia after the incident, Feltwell recalled the tense moment, saying, “I don’t even remember what she said, it was, you know, a lot of eyes on us by that time and the ball was already in his glove and she just wouldn’t stop and I mean, I’m literally leaning back as she’s in my face yelling and yelling and I pretty much just wanted her to go away because I had a fork in the road: either do something I was probably going to regret or be dad and show him how to deescalate the situation so that’s where I went.”

Lady Gaga Miami Concert Canceled on Mayhem Ball Tour

Lady Gaga announced late Wednesday (Sept. 3) that she had to postpone her Mayhem Ball Tour stop in Miami after fans had already packed Kaseya Center for the show.

She revealed that her voice was strained during rehearsals on Tuesday night and that it hadn’t improved during her warm-up ahead of Wednesday night’s show.

“Hi everyone I am really so so sorry but I need to postpone tonight’s show in Miami,” Gaga wrote in an all-caps message posted to her Instagram Stories. “During rehearsal last night and my vocal warmup tonight my voice was extremely strained and both my [doctor] and vocal coach have advised me not to go on because of the risk it poses.”

In her message, Gaga expressed just how “agonizing” the decision was for her to make, but she couldn’t ignore the potential for long-term damage to her voice.

“I want to be hardcore and just push through this for you but I don’t want to risk long term or permanent damage on my vocal cords,” Gaga wrote. “There is a significant risk based on all our combined experience with a show like ours and as you know I sing live every night –and even though this was a hard and agonizing decision I would be more afraid of the long term implications on my voice. I hope you can forgive me and accept my sincerest apologies for any disappointment, let down, inconvenience. I am so so sorry. I tried so hard to avoid this. I take serious care of myself to be able to put on this highly demanding show. I love my fans so much, respect you and hope you can accept my sincere regretful apology.”

To end the message, Gaga assured fans: “We are trying to reschedule the show as quickly as possible.”

Videos on social media showed fans pouring out of Miami’s Kaseya Center after being informed of the last-minute postponement.

Gaga kicked off her Mayhem Ball Tour in Las Vegas in July and has U.S. dates scheduled through Sept. 18 in Chicago. Her international dates — with stops in Europe, Australia and Asia — go through Jan. 30.

Next up, Gaga is scheduled for two more dates at New York’s Madison Square Garden this weekend — on Saturday and Sunday — as well as a performance on Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Earlier Wednesday, Gaga dropped “The Dead Dance,” featured in the second season of Wednesday, along with a Tim Burton-directed music video and a deluxe edition of her most recent Mayhem album.
