Jo Wilson’s Life Hangs in the Balance as Richard Webber Faces Cancer

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • The fall finale ends with one doctor’s life in jeopardy and another facing a scary diagnosis.
  • Plus, we saw the continued impact of a marital separation and other characters finding blossoming romance.
  • The series returns to resolve these cliffhangers on January 8, 2026.

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 Episode 6, “When I Crash.”]

The Wilson-Lincoln family just can’t catch a break. In Thursday’s (November 13) fall finale, Jo Wilson’s (Camilla Luddington) condition deteriorated rapidly after she began experiencing shortness of breath, and Winston Ndugu (Anthony Hill) discovered that her heart was failing. Atticus “Link” Lincoln (Chris Carmack), who’d just gotten on his feet after his own brush with death in the explosion incident, was a nervous wreck, but he supported Jo’s decision to pursue the most conservative treatment option(s) — first, mere medication, and second, a pump that would allow her twins to keep cooking a while longer.

However, neither proved to be feasible, and by the end of the episode, Jo was fading on the table, and Ndugu was forced to begin a C-section, despite not having done one since he was in medical school.

From the preview for the season’s return, on January 8, it looks like Jo’s survival is very, very questionable. This season started with Jo as one of the safest characters of all, and now? Things have turned completely upside down.

Also in jeopardy is Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), who, after lashing out at Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) a bit too much for anyone’s liking, revealed that this behavior is owed to something else. No, he’s not drinking again; rather, he’s been diagnosed with cancer. (It’s notable that the actor, who survived his own bout with prostate cancer, used this story opportunity to raise awareness for prostate cancer and the Black Health Matters organization in a closing PSA.)

Elsewhere in the episode, Wes Bryant (Trevor Jackson) proved his depth of character when helping Simone Griffith (Alexis Floyd) treat a nonverbal autistic patient with a head laceration whose caretaker was in a touch-and-go surgery. Though Wes wanted to take their newfound bond to a new level — er, the level they actually started out on — she declined… but didn’t seem altogether disinterested.

Meanwhile, Lucas Adams (Niko Terho) had a moment of clarity of his own with the new intern, Dani Spencer (Jade Pettyjohn), who convinced him to try again on a difficult preoperative procedure and earned him a spot in a surgery, which he also got her into as thanks. And Benson “Blue” Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.) and Kavita Mohanty (Anita Kalathara) finally gave in to their very obvious attraction to one another with a classic elevator kiss moment.

Last but not least, the separation between Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) took some wild new turns when she showed up to his trailer with their kids and found Nora (Floriana Lima) naked in his bed. After they worked together to pull off a risky rescue of a woman bleeding out beneath a bus, they had a heart-to-heart but agreed they weren’t rushing into things… with other people? With their divorce? All of it? Unclear. But whatever it is, Nora decided to call it off with Owen because she simply needs Teddy more than him. After all, Teddy’s literally the only one in the world who can fix her actual broken heart.

Rashmika Mandanna opens up on work-life balance amid Deepika Padukone’s 8-hour shift demand: ‘I overwork, don’t do it’

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

For the last few weeks, actor Rashmika Mandanna has been in the news for her engagement to Vijay Deverakonda and her recently released film Thamma. But now the beauty is busy gearing up for her next movie, The Girlfriend. Recently, producer Sreenivasa Kumar praised Rashmika’s work ethic, claiming that she never imposed any work-hour restrictions. This statement came amid the controversial debate about work timings which rose after Deepika Padukone’s alleged 8-hour shift demand for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. Well, Rashmika has now shared her thoughts on work-life balance, explaining the importance of not ‘overworking’.

Rashmika Mandanna and Deepika Padukone

Some time back Rashmika Mandanna mentioned that it has been months since she got a full 8-hour sleep. Referring to the same, when asked about work-life balance, Rashmika told Gulte, “I think us glorifying the fact that we overwork is not good. I overwork, and I’m telling you, it’s highly not suggestible. Don’t do it. It’s not sustainable. Don’t do it. Do what is comfortable for you, do what is right for you. Get those 8 hours, get those 9-10 hours also because trust me that’s going to save you in the later ages. As in, I have seen a lot of these conversations recently where people are like ‘okay, you know, work timing’ and all of that. I’ve done it both. And I’m telling you, this is not worth it. As in, of course, it’s a responsibility that you have. I tend to overwork myself because I take on so much more than a normal human being can and should. But I’m also not someone who will tell my teams that I can’t do something for them. If I know that they are struggling and they’re like ‘no we have this location only till now and we have to shoot so much in this time’ and all of that, I understand and I’ll give in.”

When director Rahul Ravindran said ‘It’s almost everyday in cinema’, Rashmika agreed and explained, “Yeah, that’s almost every day in cinema. And that’s the love and respect I have for my teams. But if I could choose for myself, I would say ‘please don’t make us actors do that, because there’s a lot that’s going on’. Not even actors. Directors, lightmen, music, everyone, just have, like you know how office time is 9 to 6 or 9 to 5 or 9 to 4, let us have that. Because there’s still a family life that I want to focus on, there’s still my sleep that I want to get in, I still want to work out so, you know, later on I’m not regretting that I wish I was, you know, healthy and fit and working out when I was younger. I’m still thinking about my future. But right now I don’t have a say because I’m taking on too much on myself.”

What are your thoughts on the ongoing shift debate in the film industry?

French biochemist reveals how movement helps balance glucose spikes after meals, shares 4 tips: ‘Household chores like…’

Sitting down and relaxing immediately after meals can spike glucose levels. Instead, Jesse Inchauspé recommends 4 daily activities to help balance spikes.

Glucose-rich meals can cause sharp spikes in blood sugar, leaving the body struggling to bring levels back to balance. While many people instinctively sit down or relax after eating, this habit can actually worsen the problem. Simple physical movement – even light daily chores – can make a significant difference in curbing these spikes and supporting healthier glucose control.

Jessie Inchauspé, a French biochemist, NYT bestselling author, and health activist popularly known as the Glucose Goddess on social media, highlights why moving after glucose-rich meals is key to balancing out blood sugar spikes. In an Instagram video posted on October 2, she explains how physical activity impacts blood glucose levels, recommending simple movements – even everyday household chores – that can help lower both glucose and insulin levels.

Why moving helps balance glucose spikes

According to Jesse, your muscles contract due to movement, and this helps them absorb glucose faster. She explains, “When your muscles contract, for example, if you’re walking, you’re squatting, you’re cleaning your apartment, after you eat something high in glucose, your muscles will uptake the glucose from that meal without needing insulin.” She stresses that it is important to keep your insulin levels low in order to prevent spikes. “So, just 10 minutes of movement after a meal can help you reduce your glucose spike of the meal without increasing your insulin levels, which is two birds, one stone,” Jesse adds.

Recommended movements

Glucose and insulin spikes can be avoided by performing simple movements, and even daily household chores can help. Besides chores, activities like walking and performing air squats are effective in lowering glucose spikes. Jesse recommends the following:

  • Walking for 10 minutes.
  • Calf raises (also known as soleus push-ups).
  • Household chores like vacuuming, folding laundry, washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom.
  • Air squats.

The Sustainability Seesaw: Finding Balance in the Events Industry

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Andrew Hickinbotham, Board Member of the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) and Head of Sales at Tecna, explores how the events and exhibitions industry can balance moral responsibility and commercial opportunity when it comes to sustainability.

The events and exhibition industry is no stranger to balancing acts. For years, we’ve worked within the classic triangle of price, design and quality, knowing that a compromise in one area often pulls at the other two.

Yet as our industry continues to develop and places more of a focus on sustainability, it’s becoming increasingly clear that this traditional approach doesn’t quite fit the mould we’ve come to know. Instead of a triangle, the balance of sustainability is more akin to a seesaw, with moral factors at one end and commercial at the other.

For some businesses, sustainability starts from this moral standpoint – the conviction that our industry must do better environmentally and socially. For others, it begins with the commercial lever in that there is a demand for it from clients, as well as the belief that doing so will open up more opportunities for work as well.

Ultimately, neither route is wrong. In fact, when moral and commercial forces work together in this sustainability seesaw, that’s when real momentum is created. Here’s why.

Sustainability as a currency, not just a cost

A perfect example of this sustainability seesaw in action is the ShelterSuit initiative, which sees event graphics from events repurposed into weather-resistant sleeping bags for the homeless. Materials that once would have gone to landfill are given a new life while also providing direct support to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

The moral impact is clear, yet there are commercial benefits too, such as avoiding landfill fees and cutting disposal costs.

This is what I mean by treating sustainability as a currency, as it also brings reputational value as well as social value. The more we begin to view sustainability through that lens, the easier it becomes to see opportunities rather than obstacles.

Starting small

All of us are at different points of our sustainability journey, meaning we all require different next steps when it comes to striking the balance of this sustainability seesaw.

That said, one issue I see is people hesitating to get started because they feel they aren’t doing enough, or aren’t quite sustainable enough yet. Sustainability is a journey, not a destination, and it’s something we try to stress in our own sustainability initiatives here at ESSA.

Our sustainability accreditation, for example, is tiered from 1-5, with higher levels equating to a deeper level of commitment to sustainability within a business. We stress to those looking to take the accreditation that it is very normal to receive a lower tier first, then work your way up. After all, small steps create both moral and commercial benefits. Morally, they show that you’re serious about change and willing to put your values into action. Commercially, they build confidence with clients, make future accreditations easier to achieve, and help attract and retain talent who want to work for purpose-led businesses.

Yes, it requires effort. But putting in that work, even at a small scale, opens the door to bigger wins.

A playground for everyone

Our industry is also wonderfully diverse — modular builders, bespoke set designers, AV specialists, tech providers, freelancers and sole traders all play their part. Each faces unique challenges and opportunities, and it’s also why everyone’s seesaw may look a little different.  For example, a freelance designer working from a home office might leave a minuscule carbon footprint compared with a logistics-heavy contractor, yet their contribution is no less important. Their thinking becomes their gift.

Make no mistake though, that diversity is our strength. And it isn’t just about changing materials or recycling more, sustainability is also about how we support our communities, bring our team on board, and the small choices we make every day that add up — choices that also help attract people who want to work for businesses that share their values.

These small actions matter, and when you make them, speak up. Sharing successes inspires others to follow suit, turning individual efforts into collective momentum.

The truth is, our industry will never be perfectly sustainable. But rather than discourage us, that reality should sharpen our focus on what can be improved, controlled and celebrated.

Whether you’re a large contractor, a small agency or a sole trader, you have a lever to pull, both morally and commercially. Share your wins, however small they feel, because it’s collective action that will ensure sustainability benefits both our businesses and our planet.

Hormone health expert reveals 4 strategies every woman should follow to support hormonal balance: ‘Nearly 70% of your…’

Hormonal health is a delicate balance, yet many everyday habits, which are seemingly harmless, can quietly disrupt it. From irregular sleep patterns to chronic stress or poor gut health, these factors can throw your hormones off rhythm, affecting energy, mood, metabolism, and even aging.

Tanisha Bawa, a gut and hormone health expert and a nutrition coach trained at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, shares four essential strategies to support and maintain optimal hormonal health in women. In an Instagram video posted on September 25, the hormone health expert emphasises that these are not mere ‘wellness hacks’ but core principles of hormonal health – which, when practiced consistently, can transform how your body feels, functions, and ages.

Digestion is your first immune system

Tanisha stresses that taking care of your gut health is not optional but foundational to your wellbeing. She explains, “Nearly 70% of your immune cells live in your gut. If your digestion is sluggish, inflamed, or compromised, it sets the stage for recurring illness, poor nutrient absorption, and hormone imbalances.”

Sleeping early

According to the hormone health expert, sleeping before 10 pm is a real game-changer. She further elaborates, “Your circadian rhythm and hormone cycle are deeply connected. By 10 pm, your body is primed for repair, detoxification, and hormone regulation. Pushing past that window disrupts cortisol and melatonin balance, leaving you tired, wired, and hormonally out of sync.”

Food is medicine

According to Tanisha, food does not merely account for calories – every physiological function, including the hormones, are built on what you feed the body. She highlights, “The right foods can calm inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity, and bring your hormones back into rhythm. Food isn’t just calories – it’s chemistry that either heals or harms.”

Chronic stress is your biggest enemy

Chronic stress disrupts hormonal balance and stress management is non-negotiable. Tanisha points out, “Stress isn’t just ‘in your head’. Elevated cortisol over time steals from your sex hormones, slows metabolism, disrupts sleep, and throws off everything from thyroid to fertility.”

3.0 stars

Writers: Harish Peddinti, CA Khushbu Baid, Tatsat Pandey

Cast: Ahsaas Channa, Prit Kamani, Gyanendra Tripathi, Aishwarya Ojha, Anmol Kajani, Rohan Joshi

Half CA Season 2 Review

The new season begins with new challenges for everyone. ‘Archie’ Ahsaas Channa and ‘Niraj’ Gyanendra Tripathi are set to face their exams-article and final CA exams soon, respectively. However, have we ever heard life is that simple? There are certainly some things to sort be it in relationships or exam stress.

Archie and Tejas (Prit Kamani) have a secret love blooming which is not known to Vishal (Anmol Kajani) and Parth (Rohan Joshi). Archie is still stressed with her exams and managing her articleship. Both she and Parth struggled to find a good firm for their article.

Meanwhile, Niraj meets his past lover, Kavya in the same academy where he is preparing. Their past has a lot to process and thinhs they have to let go off. Archie doesn’t tell her office colleagues that Tejas is a BCOM student due to judgements.

So, what will happen with Archie and Niraj? Will Niraj clear his CA final papers? Will Archie be able to manage to complete her articleship and pass her exams? Will both their relationships pass amid all the academic stress?

What Works

Really appreciate the rawness and dedication shown of the life of every CA student. In a country where most students are stressed about clearing JEE and NEET, Half CA shows how much every CA student goes through. Every actor shows character development and lessons you learn with the simplest dialogues makes this series a definite watch.

What Doesn’t Work

Some moments feel a little stretched. There are some scenes that could have been cut short. Leaving a series with cliffhangers may not be the best.

Technical Analysis

Direction & Cinematography

The cinematography beautifully captures the spirit of Mumbai and the struggles faced by students arriving in the city to chase their dreams. Complemented by the heartfelt song and evocative background score, the film gains an added layer of depth and emotional resonance.

Writing & Screenplay

More than just a story about CA aspirants, Half CA reflects on life itself and the various ups and downs we all encounter. Amidst the numerous curveballs and obstacles life throws our way, it’s easy to lose hope. Yet, this show, by simplifying fundamental academic concepts into meaningful life lessons, offers a heartening reminder that resilience and hope are essential to persevere.

Star Performances

As always, Channa delivers an impeccable act as a student, which is not something new, yet the arc of her character makes her look fresh. Tripathi engrosses you in his difficult and sad journey. You wish to never be in his place and, at the same time, root for him to win this battle.

Anmol Kajani and Rohan Joshi support the pivotal cast and especially Channa’s character well, while Prit Kamani appears for a very short time on the screen but keeps breaking the monotony of the show whenever he does.

Conclusion

To conclude the review of Half CA Season 2, Half CA doesn’t follow the typical story arc where the hero emerges victorious and gets a grand farewell. Instead, it concludes midway through a journey, highlighting how sometimes hope is the most vital factor to keep moving forward in life.

‘Half CA’ is a compelling, binge-worthy series that inspires viewers to “Never give up in life.” It powerfully emphasizes that persistence, resilience, and a positive outlook are essential qualities to hold onto while chasing one’s dreams.

We hope our review of Half CA Season 2 will help you decide to watch it.

GI cancer surgeon reveals 4 habits to avoid and suggests 3 dietary choices to balance your gut microbiome | Health

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Gut health is one of the most talked-about topics in wellness discourse because of its close connection with other aspects of health, like mental well-being and immunity, through the gut-brain and gut-immunity axes. But you cannot talk about gut health without spotlighting the microbiome. At the very root of gut health is the gut microbiome. All the major functions of the gut, from digestion to nutrient absorption, are supported by the complex community of bacteria and other microbes in the gut. But this efficiency depends on maintaining a balance, and what you eat plays a vital role in keeping your gut microbiome healthy.

Dr Hemant Jain, Consultant Laparoscopic and GI Cancer Surgeon, Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, shared with HT Lifestyle that traditional Indian foods help to support gut microbiome.

He explained, “The gut microbiome, or group of bacteria, fungi, and other microbes that reside in our gut and help our digestive tract as a whole, from immunity to metabolism. Indian traditional food is largely respected due to its nature to heal and diversity, yet recent interpretations and lifestyle have induced imbalance in our gut.”

The attraction to processed fast foods is alarming in today’s time, as Dr Jain warned that they disrupt the gut microbiome’s balance and increase the risk of many gastrointestinal disorders. Dr Jain added, “Today’s food culture, urban living, and food processing have caused a significant imbalance of gut microbiota in most Indians, which may produce a variety of disease conditions such as gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, diabetes and even mental illnesses.”

4 things to avoid

Processed foods like burgers and French fries are increasingly common among youth, but they pose serious health hazards to gut health.(Shutterstock)
Processed foods like burgers and French fries are increasingly common among youth, but they pose serious health hazards to gut health.(Shutterstock)

The first step to maintaining a healthy gut is eliminating some common yet harmful habits. Dr Jain shared which habits you should change:

1. Eating a lot of processed foods:

  • Indian urban and semi-urban households experienced a dramatic increase in packet foods of snacks, soft beverages, and ready-to-eat foods.
  • These highly processed foods have low dietary fibre and high added sugars and unhealthy fat content, which negatively impact the richness and functionality of gut microbiota.

2. Lack of dietary diversity:

  • Traditional Indian diets were once regional and vegetarian, involving frequent use of lentils, whole grains, vegetables, seasonal fruits, seeds, and naturally fermented foods (such as curd, pickles, and idli/dosa batter).
  • The trend of ease and the globalised food culture trend have limited dietary variety, thus denying healthy gut flora the diversity of fibres and polyphenols that they live on.

3. Increased use of antibiotics and pesticide exposure:

  • Inappropriate use of antibiotics and consumption of chemical pesticides through non-organic foods have the potential to disturb the balance in the gut microbiome.
  • It also sometimes represses beneficial species.

4. Sedentary lifestyle:

  • Sedentary life, stress, lack of sleep, and irregular eating patterns are now prevalent in urban India.,
  • This also disrupts gut balance, suggesting the necessity of an integrated gut care regimen.

Better dietary choices for a healthy gut

Now that you know the triggers of gut imbalance and are aware of precautionary measures, let’s take a look at some dietary choices that can support and improve your gut microbiome. Dr Hemant Jain highlighted these 4 dietary options:

1. Include a blend of vegetables like spinach, methi, carrots, beetroots, broccoli, and fruits, and nuts, providing a range of fibres and phytonutrients to feed an array of microbes.

2. Ancient Indian fermented foods such as dahi, buttermilk, idli, dosa, pickles, and kanji are natural probiotics and centuries old in creating gut harmony. These can increase counts of beneficial bacteria if consumed every day.

3. Prioritising top whole grains, including millets (ragi, jowar, bajra) and brown rice, lentil and legume types like masoor dal, moong dal, toor dal, chana, rajma, kala chana, chickpeas.
