Priyanka Chopra Urges ‘Let’s Talk Equality’, Backs Janhvi Kapoor’s Message

by jummy84 December 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra has publicly voiced her support for fellow actor Janhvi Kapoor after Janhvi shared a strong message on gender equality. By resharing a video of Janhvi speaking out on her Instagram Stories, Priyanka added her own endorsement: “It starts with a conversation so here I go. Preach Janhvi Kapoor 👏” This gesture has sparked fresh conversations about equality and social responsibility among celebrities and fans alike.

In the original clip from Janhvi, she spoke candidly about the need to treat women and men with equal respect and dignity, calling for a shift in attitude that should begin with honest conversations. Priyanka’s resharing acts as a spotlight on the issue, lending greater reach and visibility to Janhvi’s call for fairness.

As a star with global reach and influence, Priyanka’s backing is significant. She has long been vocal about gender issues, and this latest move reflects a continuity in her social stance. Over the years, she has spoken about women’s empowerment, body positivity, and equality, not just through statements, but through her work and public image. Her gesture lends weight to Janhvi’s message.

What makes this moment noteworthy is the trend where star support can elevate a social message from a conversation between individuals to a broader public discourse. While Janhvi’s direct message resonated with many, Priyanka’s amplification ensures that the reach extends beyond her immediate fanbase. It emphasises that when public figures take a stand together, the impact multiplies.

There are questions, though. Some cynics argue that in an industry hungry for headlines, such “reposts of solidarity” can also turn into marketing opportunities or image-care maneuvers. But in this instance, both Janhvi and Priyanka appear earnest. The synergy between them offers a refreshing shift: rather than competition or rivalry, there’s a sense of solidarity and shared values.

In the larger scheme of Bollywood, where glamour, fame, and image often overshadow deeper issues , this episode becomes relevant. It reminds both stars and audiences that entertainment and activism can coexist. When celebrities speak up on social issues, they can influence public opinion and inspire young fans.

For Janhvi, the support validates her voice. For Priyanka, it extends her legacy beyond films to social advocacy. For the audience, it opens a space for dialogue. And perhaps most importantly, it demonstrates that public conversation on equality need not be confined to grand speeches or organized campaigns, sometimes, a simple “repost” can be a powerful beginning.

Kiran Rao's Kindling Pictures Backs Bosco Bhandarkar's 'Shadow Hill'

Kiran Rao’s Kindling Pictures Backs Bosco Bhandarkar’s ‘Shadow Hill’

by jummy84 November 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Kiran Rao‘s production banner Kindling Pictures is backing commercial director Bosco Bhandarkar’s feature directorial debut “Shadow Hill: Of Spirits and Men,” which has been selected for the WAVES Film Bazaar‘s Co-Production Market.

The Bazaar is the market component of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The film follows two men on a treasure hunt in Goa — one seeking closure about a hidden truth and the other looking for an escape from drudgery. A mysterious woman who tells tales of the past helps both men find resolution. Set against the backdrop of Goa’s transformation from a tranquil coastal region to an urban sprawl, the story blends comedic and tragic moments while exploring themes of memory, loss and human connection.

“The idea is to find love as a counterforce to cynicism,” says Bhandarkar, who drew inspiration from childhood summer vacations spent at an ancestral house in a Goan village. “We are living in times when one hopes for some faith in humanity, and I hope our film helps reflect this in some small and beautiful ways.”

The director said he wanted to address the ecological destruction caused by Goa’s booming real estate market and political corruption, noting that “the very concepts of space and time have shifted drastically for the locals in present times, and not for the best.”

Rao, who co-founded Kindling Pictures with producer Tanaji Dasgupta, has known Bhandarkar for over 25 years. “His perspective is unusual, mischievous, and deeply human,” says Rao. “Through humor and irony, he is able to peel back the surface of ordinary life and reveal its hidden layers, often through striking, poetic imagery.”

Bhandarkar has spent most of his career directing commercials. He describes himself as a daydreamer who loves “films made by filmmakers who have school bags filled with empathy.”

At Film Bazaar, Kindling Pictures is seeking co-producers, financiers and film funds. The company has invested 25% of the budget and is looking to raise additional financing while attaching strategic partners to help execute Bhandarkar’s vision.

“We believe it embodies a rare balance of humor, poignancy, and danger,” said Rao. “We are very excited about this film because it promises to be an extraordinary cinematic experience,” adds Dasgupta.

'Parasite' Producer Barunson E&A Backs Indonesia at Tokyo Market

‘Parasite’ Producer Barunson E&A Backs Indonesia at Tokyo Market

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Barunson E&A, the production and distribution studio behind “Parasite,” reaffirmed that sharply rising production costs and slowing film revenue in Korea are driving local producers to pivot towards global co-production.

Yoonhee Choi, CEO of Barunson E&A, noted the challenge facing the industry at a seminar on international co-production at TIFFCOM, the market arm of the Tokyo International Film Festival.

“In Korea, the film industry has been struggling, and at the same time, the production costs have risen significantly,” said Choi. “As labor costs and general prices have gone up, average production costs have increased across the board. Since the profit from films has decreased, these investments are becoming more difficult.”

The studio has expanded its business into international markets, with a slate of completed films from Taiwan (“Miss Shampoo”), Vietnam (“Don’t Cry Butterfly”) and Indonesia (“Rangga & Cinta”).

Of particular interest to Barunson E&A is the Indonesian market.

“The country we have been working with the most recently is Indonesia. The reason is that Indonesia is currently the fastest-growing country in the world, and it still has a lot of room for further growth,” said Choi.

“Many talented new directors are emerging in Indonesia. In the past, the genres of successful films were limited to horror, religious dramas, and so on, but recently there is a demand for diverse films, and new talented directors who bring us such projects,” she added.

To solidify its commitment, the company recently signed a two-year slate deal with acclaimed Indonesian director Joko Anwar. Barunson E&A is handling overseas sales for the director’s upcoming “Ghost in the Cell.”

Together with fellow panellist, Japanese producer Kawai Shinya (“Ring,” “Yi Yi”), Choi also offered insights into the sophisticated campaign strategy that propelled “Parasite” to become the first non-English-language film to win Best Picture.

“From the start, we chose overseas distributors that could participate in the Oscar campaign, companies with the experience, the passion and the will to somehow elevate this film,” said Choi. “After winning the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, we immediately started the Oscar campaign in collaboration with the U.S. distributor Neon.

“The Academy campaign is almost like an election campaign. We constantly had to create a justification and basis for Academy to vote for this film. At the time, there was a great drive towards diverse films in the U.S., and director Bong Joon Ho ran a very compelling campaign targeted at Academy members, which I believe contributed to the success.”

Kawai offered a stark counterpoint, reflecting on the inexperienced mistakes that led to the failure of the Academy Awards campaign in 2000, for Edward Yang’s “Yi Yi: A One and a Two,” which had won best director at Cannes.

Despite the film’s critical acclaim, Kawai realized too late that the film was ineligible for the Academy Awards.

“After we won best foreign film from the LA Film Critics Association, I looked at the Academy Award requirements and found a stipulation that a film must be screened for at least two weeks in its home country by the end of December,” said Kawai. “It was already late when I found out, but we decided to try anyway. We hastily screened Edward Yang’s film for one run in Shibuya in December.”

Despite the effort, the film failed to be nominated for the Academy Award because of another technicality.

“We had considered it a co-production, and since the producer was Japanese and most of the financing was Japanese, we thought it would be defined as a Japanese film,” continued Kawai. “However, ultimately, because the director was Taiwanese and most of the locations were in Taiwan, it was judged to be a Taiwanese film. Since it had not been screened in Taiwan, it was deemed ineligible.”

Kawai also had choice words for Japan’s unique Production Committee (seisaku Iinkai) financing system, where committees of companies with gather to invest and share risks.

Kawai was a lead producer for the 2004 film “Rikidozan”, which was planned as a JPY700 million ($4.5 million) co-production evenly split between Japan and Korean investors.

“As the script was being developed, one of the five companies in the Japanese Production Committee said the story was bad. The biggest investor said they absolutely couldn’t do it and pulled out. When one member of the Production Committee pulls out, everyone else pulls out. I felt terrible for the Korean side at that time, but all of Japan’s half of the money ended up being covered entirely by the Korean side, CJ.” said Kawai.

He lamented the inability for quick decision making under the Production Committee system.

“You need the ability to immediately answer, a producer who can make a judgment. The Production Committee system, on the other hand, requires unanimous agreement to move forward. It has its advantages, like risk hedging and using your own media companies for promotion, but when working with overseas partners, issues like speed always arise.”

Jimmy Kimmel Backs Dana Walden as Next Disney CEO

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

The second to last question Bloomberg’s Lucas Show asked of Jimmy Kimmel in the final moments of their interview at Screentime in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening just so happened to be the million- dollar one that all of Hollywood has been asking for quite some time: Who is going to be the next CEO of Disney?

“I happen to love Dana Walden very much, and I think she’s done a great job,” Kimmel said after acknowledging that it would be “very foolish” of him to offer any response at all, which makes sense considering his status as one of the studio’s high-profile in-house talents. But he’s had a lot of dealings with Disney’s executive class as the host of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and a direct line to the very top in recent days amid his controversial suspension.

He factored the latter into his decision to back Walden: “I think what has happened over the last like three weeks was very unfair to my bosses at Disney. I don’t think anyone should ever be put in a position like this. It is insane, and I hope that we drew a really, really bold red line as Americans about what we will and will not accept, and really hope that that’s what comes out of all of it.”

Kimmel’s Screentime appearance came two weeks after he returned to the airwaves on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! following a brief but monumental suspension that kicked off a debate over free speech. It all started when Kimmel delivered comments on the Sept. 15 edition of his show about Charlie Kirk’s assassin, saying, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

The moment went viral and sparked backlash. Brendan Carr was among those who commented, and the FCC chair went so far as to threaten ABC’s affiliate licenses. Two days later, Disney bosses made the decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a suspension that lasted less than a week amid widespread backlash from Hollywood’s creative community, which turned out to support the beloved host online and in real life. His return, marked by a nearly 30-minute opening, delivered record ratings and found Kimmel expressing gratitude to his supporters, clarifying his comments about Kirk and defending free speech.

At Screentime, Kimmel elaborated on the behind-the-scenes negotiations as his show went dark. “I hate to disappoint you, but they were really good conversations. I mean, like, really good conversations,” Kimmel said of chats with Walden and current CEO Bob Iger. “These are people that I I’ve known for a long time, and who I like very much. And we all wanted this to work out best.”

That said, the firestorm did disrupt their schedules. “First of all, I ruined Dana’s weekend. It was just nonstop phone calls all weekend. But I don’t think the result would have been as positive if I hadn’t talked to Dana as much as I did, because it helped me think everything through. And it helped me understand where everyone was coming from. I can sometimes be reactionary, I can sometimes be aggressive, and I can sometimes be unpleasant. And having those days to think about it was helpful.”

Kimmel had a lot to think about Wednesday night as Shaw grilled him on the suspension, his prediction on the future of late night TV, the economics of his show, whether he plans to re-up his contract next year and what he really thinks of the Riyadh Comedy Festival. Highlights are below.

Kimmel Thought His Show Might Never Come Back

During his suspension, the veteran host thought it his run might be over. “I’m a troublemaker, just by nature,” he said in recalling his early days hosting the show at a time when the Los Angeles Lakers faced off with the Detroit Pistons in the 2004 NBA playoffs. “I said something to the effect of, ‘Well, I hope they don’t burn Detroit down.’ And everyone in Detroit was very unhappy. People were mad, and they pulled me off the air in Detroit. A guy who’s really been like my mentor at ABC, Alex Wallau, said to me, ‘You know, if we don’t have Detroit, you’re done with the show. The show’s over.’ I said, ‘Really?’ He said, ‘Yeah, you can’t go forward without a major market like that,’ which was news to me. So I went to Detroit and did the show for a week and kissed as much ass as I possibly could.”

Knowing the implications of losing one major market loomed large over the suspension that saw around 70 ABC affiliate stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group and Nexstar Media Group dropping the show. “Knowing that, I was like, well that’s it.” That and Kimmel added that he was not going to go along with the “list of demands” presented to him by those affiliates, which included an apology and a donation to Kirk’s Turning Point USA. “I said to my wife, ‘That’s it. It’s over.’”

As Kimmel Finalized Return, He Knew “Spirit” of Monologue

As the powers-that-be hashed out a plan for Kimmel’s return to the airwaves, they didn’t formalize exactly what he would say on the first night back but rather they agreed on the “spirit” of those comments. “Ultimately, I wanted to kind of cover every base if I could,” he said. “It was something really that had to come from inside me. It had to be truthful, and I had to lay it all out there and just be honest about what I was feeling and what I’d experienced. I think that it probably went about as well as it could go. I knew that it wasn’t going to be perfect. There were always going to be people that didn’t like it and didn’t accept it, but the important thing to me was that I was able to explain what I was trying to say.”

Kimmel Doesn’t Believe Economics Led to Stephen Colbert’s Cancellation

In July, CBS confirmed in a shock announcement that it was pulling the plug on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. In the months since, much has been made about the reasons why, and Kimmel said that he doesn’t believe the reports that claim it’s because Colbert’s show was losing upward of $40 million per year. “Because it just doesn’t make any sense. I know what the budgets for these shows are. I know what I make. I know what Stephen makes. I know what the ad sales people make. I know that there are values that nobody bothers to consider, like the affiliate fees that have to get to account for a portion of that when you talk about an hour of television every night, five nights a week. I know that it’s not $40 million. Is the show losing money? That I don’t know? I can’t imagine it’s losing a lot of money, if it is.” Shaw then asked Kimmel for a “ballpark” figure of what a show like his costs to produce. “$120 million,” he confirmed. “I know that if we’re losing so much money, none of us would be on. That’s kind of all you need to know. This is not PBS, you know?”

Late Night Can Survive — At a Cost

Amid industry-wide concerns about the future of late night, Kimmel said he doesn’t believe there’s a reason for these shows to go away entirely. “There are ways,” he said, pointing to tighter production costs. “The idea that these shows need to cost $120 million is crazy. They don’t need to cost $120 million, and somebody will figure it out…. You could still have the same format, you could still have a band, you could have all of those things and still do the show for a lot less money. It’s just that the host is not going to make as much money, and the audience isn’t going to be as big. But that’s OK, because I love seeing these things, and I love the idea that people can make a living with 200,000 viewers every day or every night. And they can talk about weirdly specific things, and those people who are really interested in those weirdly specific things have a place to take those to absorb that stuff. I think that’s great. I love the idea that a 16-year-old can have their own TV show.”

Kimmel Would’ve Said No to Riyadh Comedy Festival

In recent days, the Riyadh Comedy Festival has caused a firestorm of controversy, and the subject came up as Shaw asked Kimmel about having Aziz Ansari on his show recently to promote his new film Good Fortune. Ansari was among the 50 or so comedians who traveled to Saudi Arabia, and Shaw indicated that Kimmel’s line of questioning made it seem like he was against the event. “I wouldn’t have gone, but I wanted to hear his reasons, and I thought he had some compelling reasons,” Kimmel explained. “Nothing’s black and white. It’s not something I would do but I do understand the idea that if we close ourselves off to the world, or we isolate, that maybe it’s not good.” Kimmel continued by saying that while traveling “many of us” don’t want to be held accountable for what President Trump says. “I’m fortunate enough to be well known, and people know where I’m coming from but it would be a different situation if people didn’t know who I was. Probably the first thing I’d say as I got into every cab is, ‘I didn’t vote for him, just FYI so you know.’ I do think that kind of makes me understand [their] position better.”

Karan Johar Backs Aanand L Rai After Raanjhanaa Producers Alter Ending With AI In Re-Release

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Karan Johar has voiced his support for filmmaker Aanand L Rai following the re-release of Raanjhanaa with an AI-altered ending, emphasising that the director’s consent should have been obtained beforehand. In August, the film was re-released in theatres—not as a standard re-release, but with the ending modified using artificial intelligence. This decision sparked controversy within the industry, with Rai expressing his disappointment over the change to a “happy ending” without his approval. The film’s lead actor, Dhanush, also criticised the move.

Karan Johar Backs Aanand L Rai After Raanjhanaa Producers Alter Ending With AI

Karan Johar spoke out in support of Anand L Rai during an appearance on Komal Nahta’s YouTube show Game Changers. When asked about who should have the authority to re-release a film with modifications, he said, “This should now be contractual. If the producer owns 100% of the film, then he/she has the right to do whatever they want. But he/she has to have the moral dilemma about it. Today, also I own every IP, but if I have to do anything to the film, I call the director of the film. So when it’s not contractual, it has to be moral. Agar aapki morality nahi hai, agar aap ek director ke vision ko badal rahe ho, release kar rahe without his/her consent, then that is not right.”

(If you don’t have morality, if you’re changing a director’s vision and releasing the film without his/her consent, then that is not right).

He further added, “His job is to call Aanand L. Rai jiski vision thi voh, jiski wajah se aap yeh kar rahe ho aaj, it’s your moral responsibility. You should call everybody who made that film special. It’s the right thing to do. Aur kya hi ukhaad liya aapne change karke. Aisa nahi hai ki uss film ka bahut bada business hua. Because it’s inauthentic. AI has to be used for its absolute worth. Jo natural hai voh zyada chalega (You should call Aanand L. Rai — it was his vision, and he’s the reason you’re able to do this today. What did you even achieve by changing it? It’s not as if the film made huge business. Because it’s inauthentic. AI should only be used where it truly adds value. What’s natural will always work better).”

About the AI-Altered Ending

Raanjhanaa centres on Kundan (Dhanush), who falls in love with Zoya (Sonam Kapoor), a Muslim girl. In the original climax, Kundan is shot at a rally and later dies in the hospital. However, in the AI version re-released in Tamil, Kundan survives.

Aanand L Rai On Raanjhanaa’s AI-Altered Ending

Rai expressed his deep disappointment in a statement, saying, “People connected with Raanjhanaa because of its flaws and imperfections. To see its ending changed without any discussion is a gross violation—not just of the film, but of the trust of the fans who have carried it in their hearts for 12 years.”

Eros On Raanjhanaa’s AI-Altered Ending

The studio responded, claiming they are the “sole and exclusive copyright holders” of the film and that the re-release was “offered as an addition, not a replacement, of the original.” Rai responded to the controversy in an interview. He said, “Machines can’t create films. The tragedy was part of Raanjhanaa’s DNA. You can’t just rewrite its soul.”

Raanjhanaa was released in 2012.

Sunjay Kapur Property Battle: Delhi HC Backs Karisma Kapoor’s Kids Samaira, Kiaan; Rejects Priya Sachdev Kapur’s Secrecy Move

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

The Delhi High Court handed a significant win to Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, in the ongoing inheritance battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s estate. The Court refused to accommodate Priya Kapur’s plea to impose a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) or confidentiality clause on the heirs before allowing them access to Sunjay’s Will and list of assets. During the hearing, the court orally said that it will not pass an order for the confidentiality club after the counsel agreed not to disclose the contents of the list of assets, as well as information regarding the case, to the media.

Delhi HC Backs Karisma Kapoor’s Children Samaira, Kiaan

Justice Jyoti Singh was unequivocal in her stance, observing that such a condition could deprive the children of their right to defend themselves. “If they are bound by confidentiality, how will they ever defend their case?” the judge asked in court.

By the end of the week, Priya — Sunjay’s third wife — had stepped back from her NDA push. Instead, she agreed to submit documents in a sealed cover, a judicial mechanism that prevents public disclosure while ensuring full access for family members. For Karisma’s kids, this means they can freely examine and contest the Will, which they have already denounced as “bogus.”

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for Samaira and Kiaan, strongly criticised Priya’s position. “Two accounts have been wiped clean and 6% share appropriated. For me, there is nothing confidential. What is there to hide?” he argued before the bench.

Legal experts say this is a significant moment. Akshat Khetan, Founder of AU Corporate Advisory & Legal Services, observed: “The Court has struck the right balance, sensitive details need not enter the public domain, but heirs cannot be kept in the dark. By allowing sealed cover filings while rejecting Priya Kapur’s NDA demand, the Delhi High Court reaffirmed that heirs have the right to know what constitutes their father’s estate without involving the media unnecessarily.”

Sujit Lahoti, Managing Partner at Sujit Lahoti & Associates, added: “Inheritance disputes cannot be run like boardroom negotiations. Delhi High Court made it plain that heirs must be able to question every disclosure. NDAs in succession cases would be legally unsound and practically unworkable.”

What Did The HC Direct?

The Court has now directed Priya Kapur to file a comprehensive inventory of Sunjay Kapur’s movable and immovable assets. These details are to be shared with Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, and his children — but kept out of the public domain. Importantly, the judge ruled out Priya’s bid to form a so-called “confidentiality club,” calling it an unfamiliar and inappropriate tool in Indian succession disputes.

The ruling strengthens the position of Karisma Kapoor’s children, who continue to question the authenticity of the Will and allege financial misappropriation by Priya. At its core, the decision underscores a broader principle: inheritance battles demand transparency, not secrecy. And in this high-profile family feud, the Delhi High Court has ensured that Karisma’s children will have their full say in the fight for their father’s legacy.

Bigg Boss 19: Zeishan Quadri Backs Amaal Mallik After He Accidentally Hurts Nehal Chudasma

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

In the latest episode of Bigg Boss 19, Zeishan Quadri once again showed why he is one of the most balanced contestants in the house. During a task that required physical strength, contestant Amaal Mallik accidentally hurt Nehal Chudasma. The incident quickly escalated, with several housemates blaming Amaal and even calling it a case of “bad touch” after Nehal broke down.

Zeishan Quadri Backs Amaal Mallik After He Accidentally Hurts Nehal Chudasma

Amid the heated discussion, Zeishan stepped in as a true friend and voice of reason. He consoled Amaal, saying, “Tu dil pe mat le. Sports hai, sports me hota hai.” His calm and practical words highlighted how such accidents are part of competitive games and should not always be seen in the wrong light.

Zeishan’s wisdom comes not just from experience but also from his own research in the field of sports. For a sports drama film, he had earlier travelled to Ladakh to study the lives of the girls’ ice hockey team. He lived with the players for a couple of weeks. He learned how they trained, how they balanced their daily struggles, and how ice hockey has slowly grown into a sport of national importance.

This background allowed Zeishan to view the situation inside the house differently. While others rushed to conclusions, he reminded everyone that accidents are part of physical challenges and do not always reflect intent. His ability to combine empathy for Amaal with knowledge of how sports work was widely appreciated by viewers.

By standing beside Amaal Mallik in a difficult moment, and by putting things into the larger context of sportsmanship, Zeishan Quadri proved both his maturity and his strong sense of friendship inside the Bigg Boss house.

Tracy T Says He’s Not ‘Tripping’ Over Kash Doll Breakup But Stands Firm On His Clap Backs: ‘You Play w/ Me I’m Gonna Play w/ You’

Tracy T is unbothered by Kash Doll moving on from him.

The rapper explained that he’s not “tripping” over their split because he’s endured more serious situations in life. However, he made it clear that he has no issue clapping back when he feels the need.

“You play with me, I’m gonna play with you,” he stated.

Y’all Team Tracy or Team Kash?

Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s Historyverse announced an AI-generated film based on the lore of Lord Hanuman titled Chianjeevi Hanuman—The Eternal. The film has been touted as a first-of-its-kind ‘Made-In-AI’ and ‘Made-In-India’ feature film for theatrical release. Actor Ranveer Singh has now extended his support for the project, backing one of the film’s producers, Vijay Subramaniam on Instagram. Ranveer commented on the joint Instagram post of Abundantia Entertainment, where he shared the announcement. The post also included Vijay’s Instagram account, which Ranveer follows. The caption read, “Proud and honoured to bring the timeless story of ‘Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal’, to theatres, in a first-of-its-kind, ‘Made-In-AI’, ‘Made-In-India’ avatar. With deep reverence for our culture, heritage and history, we are set to release this innovative spectacle in theatres on Hanuman Jayanti 2026.”

Ranveer commented, “Wah (claps emoticon).”

Fans of the actor were not impressed with him openly supporting an AI-generated film. One wrote, “It’s AI. One day, they’ll make a movie without you using AI. Why are you supporting this lack of creativity?” Another said, “What’s waah about this bro? Isn’t it disrespectful to real artists?” A comment read, “As a part of the cinema industry and actor with a huge reach, the least you can do is boycott the use of AI in the creative industries and promote actual screenwriters.”

Vijay’s statement

In a statement released to the press, Vijay Subramaniam, Founder and group CEO of Collective Artists Network, said, “With this film, we have the extraordinary opportunity to reimagine cultural storytelling for an audience that cherishes both tradition and innovation. Our approach is rooted in authenticity and cultural stewardship, ensuring complete transparency about the role of AI in the creative process.”

Director Anurag Kashyap lashed out at Vijay for backing an AI-generated film while heading an artists’ agency. A part of his note on Instagram read, “This right here is the future for the spineless and cowardly so called artists in the Hindi Film industry. Well done Vijay Subramaniam. Shame is not enough on you. You should be in the gutter.” Vikaramaditya Motwane also called out the makers, and said, “And so it begins… Who TF needs writers and directors when its ‘Made in AI’.”

On the work front, Ranveer will next be seen in Dhurandhar, which will be released in theatres later this year in December.
