Wedded bliss comes naturally for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.

As the “Love You Like a Love Song” singer exchanged vows with the music producer in Santa Barbara, Calif., Sept. 27, the couple’s family and friends were right there to bear witness to the joyous occasion.

Among the stars on hand for the nuptials were her bestie Taylor Swift, as well as fellow musicians Paris Hilton and Ed Sheeran, according to Vogue. Other notable attendees at the event included her Wizards of Waverly Place costar David Henrie and her Only Murders in the Building costars Martin Short, Steve Martin, Paul Rudd and Ashley Park.

“Marty is due to give a speech,” Selena told Drew Barrymore ahead of the ceremony. “Steve will probably pull out his banjo.”

In addition to the celebrities celebrating in person, more also wished the couple well on social media, including Only Murders‘ Amy Schumer, who called photos of their special day, “Breathtaking.”

Camila Cabello wrote, “love looks good on you” while Lily Collins added, “The most love to you both ever!!!!”

Meryl Streep Appears to Attend a Very Real Fashion Show as Miranda Priestly

by jummy84 September 27, 2025

No one could ever forget Meryl Streep played the uncompromising Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Runway in The Devil Wears Prada.

Emblem of a generation, the 2006 comedy directed by David Frankel is now getting a highly anticipated sequel, with many paparazzi images raining down on social media over the summer. While the new film is not expected to see the light of day until next spring, its stars have been having fun making a few nods to it during their public appearances.

The latest example occurred during the Dolce & Gabbana spring/summer 2026 show held during Milan Fashion Week. In Vogue’s video from the show, Streep and her costar Stanley Tucci practically re-enacted a scene fromThe Devil Wears Prada in the front row.

Accompanied by her on-screen sidekick, who was also a guest at the Italian fashion house’s show, Meryl Streep was dressed like a fashion icon, immediately reminding us of the film’s glamorous, if tyrannical, editor-in-chief. Her outfit had everything Miranda Priestly would wear on-screen: a nude patent trench coat—which strongly resembles the one seen during filming in New York—worn closed and belted at the waist, revealing only the bottom of black pants and sober pumps.

As for accessories, Streep’s sunglasses and a leopard-print clutch were enough to elevate the whole look—especially when accompanying a certain hairstyle. Yes, Miranda Priestly’s signature silver mane did not go unnoticed. You can see the video here.

With Tucci by her side, the front row of the Dolce & Gabbana show could easily have been mistaken for a scene from The Devil Wears Prada. But was it? Well, everything suggests that the production has, indeed, made Milan Fashion Week its new stage. Surrounded by her colleague—whose three-piece gray suit and leopard scarf were apparently approved by Nigel himself—and fellow cast member Simone Ashley, Meryl Streep seems to have truly fallen back into character.

bitchy | Did Prince Harry already register Archie to eventually attend Eton? No.

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Following Prince Harry and King Charles’s meeting at Clarence House two weeks ago, one story has been consuming the British press: “Harry wants to send his kids to English boarding schools!” Richard Eden at the Daily Mail has written multiple stories about this very odd rumor, and now Tom Sykes is getting into it on his Royalist Substack. When the initial story came out, one of the commenters made a brilliant deduction: that the rumors were started by Kensington Palace as a way to convince the Princess of Wales to send Prince George to Eton. Like, Kate is such a copy-keener, so if she heard that Meghan and Harry plan on sending Archie to Eton, Kate will finally agree to it. Anyway, Tom Sykes’s big exclusive is that Harry has already registered Archie for Eton.

Friends of Prince Harry have told The Royalist that Harry has put his son Archie, 6, down for Eton College. This could mean that the children of Prince Harry and Prince William will attend the elite all-boys’ Windsor boarding school at the same time. There are five years between Archie and George, but less than two years between Louis and Archie.

The background to all this is Harry’s visit to the U.K. last week, during which he met his father and, according to a report in the Mail, shared with the king his plans to educate his kids in the U.K. Then the British singer Joss Stone, who recently moved back to the U.K. after time abroad, told Hello! magazine about a chat she had with Harry at London’s WellChild Awards last week.

The singer, 38, said: “He asked about how we were settling back in and was genuinely interested in our move home. He’s just very warm and down to earth, as always. Maybe Harry will move back, too. That would be nice. He was saying how wonderful the schools are here, and how important community is for children. It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back—for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends, and a strong sense of belonging, and most importantly in a safe environment.”

Now, an old school friend of both Harry and William exclusively tells me, “It’s no longer strictly necessary to put your kids’ names down at birth, but Harry has put Archie down. It’s fair to say he had mixed feelings about the school when he left, but looking back on it, he can appreciate the good.”

Another old schoolfriend told The Royalist: “For William and Harry, Eton is really the only sensible choice when it comes to British schools, because of security. There are so many high-profile and politically exposed kids there that the whole school has ridiculous security provisions already. It’s seven-day boarding, lots of kids fly back and forth at the beginning and end of term, so why shouldn’t Archie? The school certainly wouldn’t be prejudiced against him. Statistically, you have to imagine Eton would be a hell of a lot safer than an American school thanks to their gun laws.”

Harry’s people dismissed the story. I have approached Eton College for comment, but I assume I won’t be hearing from them.

[From The Royalist Substack]

Buried the lede: “Harry’s people dismissed the story.” Now, I think it’s perfectly possible that in 2019, when Archie was born, this was the general education plan, to eventually send him to Eton. But plans change and it’s not 2019 anymore. Still, I’m so curious about all of this bizarre focus on Archie’s education, and to a lesser extent, Lili’s education. Even if you think there might be some whiff of truth to this “Archie will go to Eton” story, why now when the child is only six years old? Why now when Archie has been living in America for over five years? Is this all projection because Kate absolutely refuses to send her kids to boarding school?

After Sykes published all of this, he added this note: “Harry’s team initially brushed off the query in vague terms. However, after publication of this story, a spokesperson for the Duke said: ‘Prince Harry has not put his son’s name down for Eton, nor does he have any plans to do so.’” Dollars to donuts, this whole storyline came from Kensington Palace, right?

The couple arrived together at around 5pm (Sept 20). They greeted well wishers in the backstage area and went to a VIP section. Meghan appeared briefly onstage with Harry as he gave an award to a first responder called Sam Dudley who helps colleagues with their mental health issues via a ‘Peer Support’ scheme. Meghan left the stage after Harry said to her ‘Oh hi hi hi’ and said nothing. She was criticized when she appeared at the same event two years ago for taking the spotlight away from those being paid tribute. Harry also made friends with and kissed the Sam’s dog, Rhonda. There was no sign of Kevin Costner himself at the event. Also spotted in the crowd were Rob Lowe, Oprah Winfrey and Maria Shriver.

Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump Both Attend U.S. Open Finals

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Sworn enemies Bruce Springsteen and President Donald Trump were both on hand Sunday in New York City to watch the men’s finals at the U.S. Open. The outing marked the first time the singer and president had been in the same place since their public sparring earlier this summer.

The match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner was delayed nearly 30 minutes Sunday due to security measures that caused traffic issues because of Trump’s presence in the Rolex box, his arrival at Arthur Ashe Stadium drew boos. When the match finally did start, the venue was still less than half full because of the additional screening.

However, as the crowd started settling into their seats, TV cameras spotted Springsteen in attendance, sitting in a celeb-filled section along with Sting, Ben Stiller, and more:

Though Springsteen has been a vocal critic of Trump since he first ran for the presidency in 2015, he really seemed to draw the president’s ire when the songwriter blasted him at the inaugural date of his 2025 European tour.

While onstage, Springsteen took a moment out of his set to rail against Trump, calling the administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”

Trump, obviously, reacted in a totally calm and normal way. “Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, “and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)? This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”

Still not over it, three days later, Trump took another shot at Springsteen in an even crazier post that also referenced Bono and Oprah Winfrey. “HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?” he wrote. “WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment.”

Trending Stories

And perhaps, as everybody in the entire world except for Trump expected, the music community rallied behind Springsteen to show their support for him. Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Bono, Jason Isbell, and more all spoke out in solidarity with their friend in the days that followed.

In tennis lingo, I believe that would be a game, set, match.

bitchy | King Charles was ‘dismayed’ by Prince William’s refusal to attend VJ Day events

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Prince Harry is headed to London next week. I would actually bet that he’s flying over the weekend, but he will definitely be in London next Monday, September 8th, for the WellChild Awards. The big question – I guess – is whether Harry will meet his father. There’s no question of a meeting between brothers. Harry will not see Prince William, and William has rage-ranted for years now that the next time he’ll see or speak to his brother is at their father’s funeral. Speaking of, this all leads into The Royalist’s latest Substack piece, which is chock-a-block full of interesting information. Not about Harry, but about King Charles’s relationship with his heir, and William’s general unwillingness to do anything but go on vacation and rage-brief about his brother. Some highlights:

The roadblock: The real roadblock to a Charles/Harry reconciliation is what sources say is a very strained relationship between Charles and his son and heir, William. Put simply, the big picture is that William thinks Charles’ monarchy has not modernized as much as it should have. He thinks it still radiates pomposity and looks out of touch, thanks to Charles’ love of uniforms and ermine, and William disdains the prioritization of duty over an individual’s health and wellbeing. Charles thinks William is shirking the most basic element of the job—appearing, in person, all over the country, come rain or shine, and that his prioritization of family life over royal duty is inappropriate. But Charles is hugely afraid of making the relationship between him and William even worse than it already is.

William doesn’t think Charles should meet with Harry: William is being guided on the issue by his own grievance against Harry but also by domestic public opinion, which shows a large majority of the people do not believe Charles should grant Harry an audience, thereby effectively re-admitting him to the royal fold.

A friend of Peg: A friend of William told me this week that William believes his hand has been strengthened by the renewed disgrace of Prince Andrew, over whose fate Charles has vacillated. The friend said: “William always said, just cut Andrew off completely. It’s not appropriate to have an alleged sex offender breaking bread with the royal family. Charles was so desperate to be seen as embodying the spirit of Christian forgiveness that he let Andrew back in. Then the Lownie book happened. Now, is history going to repeat itself with a photo of Harry and the king having tea? It’s absurd to even imagine that after what Harry said, unless there is some form of direct apology from Harry. William was right about Andrew, and he is right about Harry. Charles is weak. William is anything but weak.” The friend added, “Ultimately, William is a loyal soldier. He respects his father’s rank, and he respects his father’s right to make his own decisions and he won’t make a fuss. But he thinks a Harry meeting is a terrible, terrible idea.”

Charles & William’s relationship: Another family friend of the royals described the relationship between William and the king to me this week as tense, difficult, formal and fraught, with William having a “deep-seated resentment” toward his father rooted in childhood trauma, a particularly pertinent issue today (Aug. 31), the anniversary of Diana’s death. The two men only rarely speak informally, with most of their communication mediated by their private secretaries, this source said. They do not tend to meet informally.

Charles didn’t see William & Kate in Balmoral: One former Buckingham Palace staffer who maintains good contacts with current staff told me that William and the king had spent no time at all together privately when William and Kate were in Balmoral last week. The king preferred to withdraw to the privacy of his own private home, Birkhall, eight miles from the castle on the enormous Scottish estate. The former staffer said: “Charles believes in tradition, and continuity above all. William thinks many aspects of his father’s approach are outdated, preferring a more modern interpretation of monarchy.”

William refused to go to VJ Day: I asked this source about two rumors I have heard this year. William apparently demurred at being sent to the Pope’s funeral because his soccer team, Aston Villa, was playing on the same day. The king was aghast when William’s position filtered back, and ultimately, William went. However, William was not persuaded to attend the VJ Day commemorations earlier this month, a decision that I have been told dismayed the king. The source said: “Both absolutely true. To William, continuing to run the monarchy as though it were still an Edwardian institution feels absurd. To Charles, his son’s more casual approach can feel like a lack of respect for duty and tradition.”

[From The Royalist]

“William was right about Andrew, and he is right about Harry. Charles is weak. William is anything but weak.” William is jealous of Harry, William is stupid and lazy, and William reportedly has a violent temper. All of that makes William very weak indeed. This is the man who got manipulated by a family of grifters and ended up married to one of them. This is the man who thinks honoring WWII veterans is an Edwardian throwback!! This is a man who wanted to shrug off a pope’s funeral so he could attend a football match in person! Like… I think Charles is a horrible father and a very weak man as well – but at least Charles has some understanding of what “the job” entails, and part of that job is “showing empathy and care to one’s family” AND “working.” William’s idea of a modern monarchy is “doing f–k all, refusing to attend significant national events, skipping the funerals of world leaders and going on endless vacations.”

What It’s Like to Attend a ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Sing-Along

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Now here’s a first: Two months after dropping “KPop Demon Hunters” on Netflix, the streamer is putting the animated hit in theaters — and not just the cursory Oscar-qualifying run its prestige titles get in New York and Los Angeles. This one is going wide, in more than 1,700 venues, for karaoke-captioned screenings in which audience participation is encouraged.

Dress up! Sing along! Give in to the catchy choreography … that’s how it’s done done done!

I’ve been on the Huntr/x train since the beginning and bought tickets to the first screening of the day at Los Angeles’ Alamo Drafthouse theater, where the house was packed with family audiences. They weren’t just in it for the songs either, but gleefully recited most of the dialogue, too. These kids knew the movie by heart, having watched it countless times at home, and now their parents were spending close to $100 to experience it on the big screen.

Next week, the one-of-a-kind cultural phenomenon — in which a trio of Korean pop stars use the positive energy their songs generate to keep soul-sucking ghouls at bay, until evil demons form a rival boy band to steal their fans — is set to become Netflix’s most-watched movie. Clearly, this exclusive two-day event was willed into existence by popular demand, just as any extension or encore Netflix agrees to would also be.

To the best of my knowledge, nobody was begging Netflix to release a sing-along version of Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinocchio” three years ago (much less “Emilia Pérez,” back when Netflix was treating that film like an Oscar frontrunner). And even though purists wanted to see Alfonso Cuarón’s “Roma” and Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” in theaters, those movies didn’t sell out nearly as quickly as “KPop Demon Hunters” shows did when Netflix announced its plan last week.

The film is all about fandom, and this unprecedented move from the streaming-first media company suggests that Netflix recognized that the film’s millions-strong audience were craving the collective experience that only cinemas can provide.

Maybe theaters aren’t quite as obsolete as Ted Sarandos would have us believe. Nor is this singular event likely to change how Netflix does business.

First, it’s important to understand what “KPop Demon Hunters” is. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation (the studio behind “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and “The Mitchells vs. the Machines”), the cleverly executed, computer-animated feature looks every bit as slick as the latest releases from Pixar and DreamWorks … which is to say, it could’ve easily supported a big-screen release in the first place.

But that would’ve meant spending millions of marketing dollars, just to let audiences know of the movie’s existence, in a marketplace where opening weekend makes all the difference and films get chased off screen before they’ve had time to build a following. (That’s one reason Sony started selling its animated features to Netflix, which came to the rescue of “Wish Dragon,” from “KPop” co-director Chris Applehans, amid the pandemic.)

Netflix famously keeps streaming numbers to itself, but it’s safe to say that “KPop Demon Hunters” would not have been nearly the same phenom had it gone the traditional theatrical route. This way, the movie benefited from word of mouth, aggregating more viewers as early adopters told their friends to check it out. That’s a luxury streaming releases have. Rrremember “RRR,” the gonzo Tollywood movie that barely made a ripple in theaters, but gained a following on Netflix?

The best analogy here could be Disney’s animated “Encanto,” which did OK business in theaters (this was 2021, when windows were still compressed in response to the pandemic), but really took off when it hit Disney+ 30 days. Only then did the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” blow up with a very similar demographic.

Perhaps the late shows will draw a crowd of older fans, though I loved sitting through the movie with a room full of chatty kids, one of whom was named Zoey (like the eager-to-please Huntr/x rapper, who fights demons with a glowing three-pronged dagger). Zoey and her friends seemed tickled any time her name was spoken.

Back in June, before the film was released, I asked my friendly neighborhood Netflix reps if there was any way to see “KPop Demon Hunters” on the big screen. They declined. (I’d also hoped it might screen at the Annecy Animation Festival, which unspooled the week prior in France, but for some reason, they brought “Fixed” instead.) I can’t be alone in preferring to watch movies in a theater, although Netflix does their best to make that difficult for audiences.

In Los Angeles, that meant opening them at the Bay, the upscale Pacific Palisades theater that shuttered amid the wildfires earlier this year — quite the shlep to watch Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” (clearly better on the big screen) or the latest Adam Sandler movie. Now they sprinkle them into art-houses around town, doing what feels like the bare minimum to meet contractual obligations and Academy Awards rules.

With “KPop Demon Hunters,” they opened in at least two dozen Los Angeles theaters, including major chains like Regal and Cinemark — more than doubling the number of screens the studio offered “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” in 2022. But the data-driven company also knew what they had in this case (what every studio wants): a sure thing.

At the moment, three of the film’s original songs — “Golden,” “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” — sit among the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. And judging by the reaction in the room, “Takedown” (which TWICE sings over the end credits, and the audience couldn’t resist echoing) could soon join their ranks.

Netflix has a full slate of big-screen-worthy movies coming this fall, including Sundance marvel “Train Dreams,” Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” and Kathryn Bigelow’s “A House of Dynamite,” but however many millions “KPop Demon Hunters” earns this weekend, that doesn’t mean the streamer will rush to open those films wide.

To repeat this experiment, they’d need another proven success with a built-in audience willing to pay to rewatch a film they first saw on streaming. Netflix has the numbers to indicate what time of year certain movies are popular. Maybe a Christmas release of last year’s “Carry On” could work.

Or maybe this is a unicorn event for which we should simply be grateful: For two days only, nonsubscribers can see “KPop Demon Hunters,” surrounded by singing groupies whose enthusiasm willed the streaming phenomenon onto the big screen.
