Morrissey has cancelled two upcoming concerts following a “credible threat” to assassinate him on stage.

Morrissey axes concerts over assassination threat

The 66-year-old musician was due to play shows in Connecticut and Boston over the weekend but both have been axed after the threat was made.

A message posted on Morrissey’s official Facebook account on Friday (19.09.25), said: “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding.”

A later message added: “Due to recent events and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, the upcoming shows this weekend at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall have been cancelled. All tickets will be refunded automatically at your original point of purchase. We appreciate your understanding.”

According to a report from Ottawa Citizen, which cited court documents, the threat was allegedly made by a 26-year-old man in a post shared to the social media platform Bluesky on September 4.

Meanwhile, Morrissey previously axed a Stockholm, Sweden gig during the summer, claiming he had “zero music industry support”.

He posted on the Morrissey Central website: “The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew. I know it’s impossible for people to understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus … but there is no financial support from imaginary record labels to get us to such places.

“In the last seven days we have travelled into six countries, and we are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see.

“We pray to God that someone, somewhere can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark … where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support.

“No label will release our music, no radio will play our music … and yet our ticket sales are sensational. What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?”

Arnold Schwarzenegger worried for US democracy following Charlie Kirk assassination

Arnold Schwarzenegger fears that democracy could disappear in the United States.

Arnold Schwarzenegger fears for US democracy

The Terminator actor – who served as Governor of California between 2003 and 2011 – is worried that the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah last week points towards a grim future for the country as the political divide between the Republican and Democratic parties continues to widen.

Speaking at the University of Southern California, Arnie said: “We have to be very careful that we don’t get closer to the cliff. Because when you fall down that cliff, down there, there is no democracy.

“We have to be very, very careful. I think it’s very important that we turn this around and that we show people power. Because the people can turn this around, the people have the ultimate power.”

Schwarzenegger – a critic of US President Donald Trump – has implored Americans to “make a difference” by taking up their right to vote.

Meanwhile, Arnie added that it is “unbelievable” that Kirk was murdered for having a “different opinion” to others.

The 78-year-old star said: “I was very, very upset that someone’s life has was taken because they have a different opinion. It’s just unbelievable.

“This was a great communicator, a great advocate for the right – for Republican causes. He had such a great way of communicating with the students that agreed or disagreed with him.”

He added of Kirk: “It’s a human being. A human life is gone.

“And he was a great father, a great husband. I was thinking about his children. They will only be reading about him now, instead of him reading to them bedtime stories.”

The suspect in Kirk’s shooting, Tyler Robinson, was charged with aggravated murder on Tuesday (16.09.25) and Schwarzenegger feels that the divisions that exist in society are to blame for the political violence.

The Total Recall actor said: “We have to acknowledge that the cause of all this is the social media companies that are dividing us, the mainstream media companies that are dividing us.

“The political parties: the Democrats that are dividing us, the Republicans that are dividing us. We’re getting hit from so many different angles, and we have to be very careful that we don’t get closer to that cliff.”

However, Trump suggested earlier this week that he “couldn’t care less” about healing political rifts as he took aim at left-wing “radicals”.

The president told Fox and Friends: “I tell you something that is going to get me in trouble, but I couldn’t care less. The radicals on the right are radical because they don’t want to see crime.

“The radicals on the left are the problem – and they are vicious and horrible and politically savvy. They want men in women’s sports, they want transgender for everyone, they want open borders. The worst thing that happened to this country.”

Stephen A. Smith Criticizes Celebrating Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

Stephen A. Smith used his platform on Thursday (Sep. 11) to call out those celebrating the recent assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

On his podcast, the ESPN commentator delivered a passionate response to the online reaction following Kirk’s killing at Utah Valley University. “I don’t care what his political beliefs were. I don’t care what he felt,” Smith said. “He’s dead at the age of 31. That his wife is a widow. That his children are fatherless because his ideas and his beliefs differed from somebody else, apparently.”

Smith went further, criticizing the celebratory posts he saw online. “And then I’m going online, and I’m seeing people celebrating it! Shame! Shame on you!” he added. However, he also commended the New York Yankees for pausing Wednesday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers to honor Kirk with a moment of silence and an image on the jumbotron.

“Props to the New York Yankees organization last night for having a moment of silence,” Smith continued. “We’re not supposed to condone stuff like this. We’re not supposed to say it’s OK. I don’t give a damn who you are, Black, White or anything in between! I hope the FBI and law enforcement catch this individual and do what needs to be done with him.”

Reactions to Kirk’s death included Team USA BMX rider Chelsea Wolfe, who faced scrutiny after posting celebratory messages on Instagram. MSNBC dismissed political analyst Matthew Dowd for suggesting Kirk’s rhetoric led to his death, and the Carolina Panthers fired communications staffer Charlie Rock for social media posts downplaying the tragedy.

Kirk was fatally shot by a lone gunman on Wednesday (Sep. 10), as he addressed students at Utah Valley University.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in St. George, Utah, on Friday (Sep. 12), according to officials and sources who spoke with ABC News. His capture came after investigators circulated photos of the suspect, which Robinson’s father recognized. At a Friday morning press conference, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest with the words, “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. We got him.”

Cox explained that Robinson’s father confronted his son after realizing he matched the images released by police. Though Robinson initially refused to surrender, he eventually agreed. His father then reached out to a youth pastor who also serves as a U.S. Marshals task force officer, who coordinated with the FBI to ensure Robinson stayed put until authorities arrived.

He also publicly thanked Robinson’s family “for doing the right thing.” He also detailed surveillance footage showing Robinson arriving on campus on Wednesday at 8:29 A.M. in a gray Dodge Challenger. At the time, Robinson wore a maroon T-shirt, light shorts, light shoes, and a black hat with a white logo. Investigators say he later changed into dark clothing before the shooting, then switched back to his original outfit afterward.

Authorities also revealed bizarre engravings on unfired shell casings recovered at the scene. One read, “Hey fascist! CATCH!” accompanied by arrows pointing in multiple directions. Another contained lyrics from the Italian World War II resistance song “Bella Ciao.” A third read, “If you read this, you are GAY Lmao.”
