Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi, in some of the most iconic roles in films like Munna Bhai MBBS, Jolly LLB, and the Golmaal series, has recently spoken about one of the most painful chapters of his life-the night his mother died. In an emotional podcasting session, the actor broke down as he revisited the traumatic memory that had continued to haunt him for decades.
Arshad revealed that he was just 14 years old when he lost both his parents within a short span of time. His mother, who was battling kidney failure and undergoing dialysis, spent her final moments asking for water. The doctors had strictly advised against giving her any, fearing complications due to her medical condition. “She kept asking for water, but I couldn’t give it to her,” Arshad recalled tearfully. “At that time, I thought I was doing the right thing by following the doctor’s advice. But now, I feel I should have given her that water — it was her last wish.”
The actor shared that losing his parents at such a tender age completely changed his life. From staying in a big, comfortable home, the situation of Arshad totally changed. He suddenly found himself having to take on responsibilities way beyond his years. “I tried to stay strong and be the man of the house,” he said. “But after holding it all in for weeks, one day I just broke down and cried. That was when it all really hit me.”
Despite the pain, Arshad turned his hardships into motivation. He worked tirelessly to support himself and gradually built his career in the film industry. However, the road was far from easy. Arshad admitted that in his early years, he accepted several film projects purely for financial reasons. One such project was Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani. “I did Jaani Dushman to make money for my home,” he confessed. “I even told the director to kill my character early on, but that didn’t happen.”
