Disney’s Tron: Ares collected $4.8 million from early previews, showing solid momentum at the box office, according to Deadline. The figure includes limited Wednesday screenings and Thursday previews that began as early as 2 pm, signaling an encouraging start for the sci-fi sequel.

Disney’s Tron: Ares opens with nearly $5 million in previews. All on Jared Leto’s new movie

$40 million opening for Tron: Ares?

Deadline reports that if the film maintains this pace, it could surpass the $40 million opening mark, aligning with earlier projections. The film’s debut comes at a time when Hollywood’s fall box office has seen mixed results. Despite the overall season ahead of last year by about 2% with a gross of over $674 million, audience turnout for star-studded adult dramas such as Dwayne Johnson’s The Smashing Machine and Margot Robbie’s A Big Bold Beautiful Journey has been underwhelming.

Tron: Ares Rotten Tomatoes score

Starring Jared Leto and directed by Joachim Rønning, Tron: Ares has seen a positive reception from the audience. It holds an 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a significant jump from the 64% earned by 2010’s Tron: Legacy. Still, competition looms large, with both the MLB playoffs and NFL games drawing male viewers away from theaters this weekend.

Tron: Ares outpaced the 2010 movie Tron: Legacy in terms of midnight previews, though it trails behind recent fan-favorite reboots such as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ($6.6 million) and Alien: Romulus ($6.5 million). Advance ticket sales were at $7 million, similar to Alien: Romulus, which opened at $42 million.

Produced by Jared Leto and former Disney production chief Sean Bailey, Tron: Ares reportedly cost $180 million before marketing and distribution.

Jared Leto on Filming Tron: Ares With Jeff Bridges

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Jared Leto felt compelled to temporarily pause filming Tron: Ares because of one dude.

Indeed, the Thirty Seconds to Mars singer was just bowled over by the fact that his costar was Jeff Bridges.

“I remember the first day I worked with Jeff, I had to yell, ‘Cut!'” Jared recalled to E! News’ Will Marfuggi in a joint interview with Jeff at the Los Angeles premiere of Tron: Ares Oct. 6, “and they came over, they were like, ‘What’s wrong?’ and I was like, ‘I couldn’t stop smiling.’ Because I’m working with him for the first time, and I’m in the costume, the sets look incredible.'”

And that enthusiasm went both ways. Jeff—who reprised his role of Kevin Flynn in Tron: Ares—admitted that he and Jared the two “hit it off right from the top.”

In fact, when the Big Lebowski star, 75, first met Jared, he immediately made a point to emphasize acknowledge that 53-year-old—who played the titular advanced artificial intelligence program sent into the physical world—utilizes method acting on set.

Jared Leto Believes Tron: Ares Is Releasing At The ‘Perfect Time’

by jummy84 October 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Disney’s upcoming sci-fi film Tron: Ares is set to release this week in theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. With its central theme of Artificial Intelligence, the lead actor Jared Leto believes that the film is arriving at the ‘perfect time’.

Jared Leto: Tron: Ares Is Coming Out At A Perfect Time

During the London premiere of the film, Jared told Digital Spy, “In a way, it is coming out at a perfect time when AI is a huge conversation. We started working on the movie nine or 10 years ago, and nobody was talking about AI unless you were a researcher or an academic or something. Now everybody’s talking about everybody’s using it, whether they know it or not; it’s all part of our lives in some way. So I think it’s interesting that the film is coming out at that time.”

Jared, who has been involved with the project for nearly a decade, and his co-star Jodie Turner-Smith noted that the film’s exploration of AI ethics became even more timely during production. Jodie said, “We filmed this a year and a half ago, and they managed to make it so prescient in a way,” she explained.

Jodi: Jared’s Been Pushing This Boulder Up The Hill For Nearly A Decade

She continued, “We were in the conversation of AI that we hadn’t been when the film was at its origination – I mean, Jared’s been pushing this boulder up the hill for nearly a decade – but they managed to place this film somewhere that was in a conversation that stayed current and relevant, and that’s actually incredible.”

Jodie further added, “We don’t have any answers for AI in the state of the world, but we are living in the question, and we’re asking people to be in the question with us about ethics, about how we keep AI human-centered.” She said that “it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom’ if humans can use AI to “change the world for the better”. “What happens if this technology is in the hands of someone who doesn’t have any ethics, like Julian Dillinger, played by the wonderful Evan Peters. So it’s great, it’s relevant, it’s current, and it’s important.”

Starring Jared Leto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, and Jeff Bridges, TRON: Ares releases in Indian theatres on 10th October 2025 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Nine Inch Nails: TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Album Review

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

But that’s also the problem: Since when has Nine Inch Nails gone unnoticed anywhere? The pleasure of the people playing this music is obvious and infectious, but it’s hard to shake the idea that despite their effectiveness, the hardest-charging songs here feel incomplete, that the film score’s mandate not to draw too much attention to itself hampers the songs’ ability to fully bloom on their own terms. Not since Lil Nas X flipped “34 Ghosts IV” into “Old Town Road” has a Nine Inch Nails song felt so in need of a remix.

Reznor and Ross’ best scores tend not to make the kind of bold statements they do so well with Nine Inch Nails, though. They operate more like a perfume whose scent is unmistakable in any kind of room. It’s a little standoffish, a little distant, with heartbreak heavily implied. It’s music that sounds like it’s made peace with desperation, in other words, and they do it superbly here. “100% Expendable” is built from a bank of lightly detuned synths that tremble faintly the longer their chords are held. The tone—harsh, brassy, like trumpets with bayonets—feels like a direct callback to Wendy Carlos’ A Clockwork Orange score, the latter’s menace replaced by the damp resignation of Radiohead’s “Exit Music (For a Film).” They pick the theme up again in “Building Better Worlds,” sculpting a cyber-hymn that crumbles into pixels as it’s being built. This is an album where something as minor as the live-wire buzz that runs behind “Daemonize” is trusted with carrying great emotional weight and succeeds.

It’s precisely this kind of care that elevates “Who Wants to Live Forever?”, the best of the album’s four vocal songs and among the most affecting and approachable Reznor has ever written. On its face, it’s a straightforward piece of Oscar bait that the rubber-pants-era Reznor wouldn’t have been caught dead performing. The tender, quivering duet he shares with Spanish singer Judeline is wrapped around a melody that pushes his voice to a height it can’t quite hit. “I don’t want to be here anymore,” he sings, and the piano blooms and sighs behind him, its tone shifting between light and dark with every chord change. In the foreground, pink pops of sound dot across the track, their slow drift like digital cherry blossoms falling on a vintage ad-board. Is it hammy? Yeah, it’s a little hammy; you might think of “Defying Gravity” when you hear it. But it’s an incredibly effective piece of musical theater, too, and it’s made more complex when the same melody goes sour in the ruins of “Building Better Worlds,” the very next song. Not even the misty-eyed beauty of yearning lasts.

Tron: Ares, the Nine Inch Nails album, is being released nearly a month before Tron: Ares, the blockbuster film, so we don’t know yet precisely what kind of story Reznor and Ross are trying to tell through this music. This is probably for the best: It’s difficult to think of the possibility of “Who Wants to Live Forever?” being sung from the perspective of an AI longing to return to its digital planet and not have it ruin the song a little bit. Then again, it seems churlish to expect Trent Reznor to still be hacking away at the cutting edge of darkness four decades into his career. Over time, affect becomes aesthetics, pain becomes another color in the palette. Maybe. Maybe something can come from the heart without breaking it. Maybe you don’t have to hurt yourself to see if you still feel.

“What did you make of it… up there?” “Flynn…” “Greetings program.” Here we go! Disney has debuted two more promo spots for the Tron: Ares epic sci-fi sequel landing in theaters in one month. Finally! And this time they’re focusing on Jeff Bridges’ iconic character Kevin Flynn – who is back again. Flynn Lives! This highly anticipated sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy continuing the story about the A.I. programs taking over. From Norwegian director Joachim Rønning, this sci-fi tech movie follows highly sophisticated Program Ares, who’s sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first real encounter with A.I. beings. Greta Lee plays Eve Kim, the human lead, and the only programmer who might be able to stop the programs. Ares also stars Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges back as the OG Kevin Flynn. The Flynn Lives concept was a huge part of the viral marketing campaign for Tron: Legacy more than a decade ago. I’m glad they’re teasing it again! Enjoy the new videos with more footage. I’m so excited to finally catch it in theaters next month – I hope it lives up to all the hype.
