Event Buyers Live 2025: Everything you need to know – what to expect and how to apply

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

There are just three days to go until the application window to attend Event Buyers Live (EBL) closes on October 31.

The hosted buyer event returns to Carden Park, Cheshire, from November 10-12 with a packed programme of unrivalled networking, relatable content, and productive pre-arranged supplier meetings.

EBL25 will be the place to do business, focus, and plan for 2026 and beyond. But if you’re still wondering whether EBL is for you, here’s our rundown on what you can expect.

  • EBL will welcome only 100 of the live event industry’s most influential organisers and 48 respected event suppliers for pre-arranged face-to-face meetings. Business sits at the heart of the event.
  • If you want to expand your contacts and network, the following organisers are just a handful of those who have signed up to attend: Far and Beyond, A.S.O UK, LS Events, Euro 2028, Live Nation, Imagination, Hyve Group, Superstruct, RunThrough, CarFest, TFI Lodestar, The Jockey Club, MainStage, The Great Run Company, and RG Live.
  • If you’re in charge of budgets, you like benchmarking different services and products, and you want to forge genuine relationships with other event professionals, EBL is for you.
  • The organising team is supported by a team of industry ambassadors who are there to help you. Don’t feel daunted walking into a room full of strangers. We’ll introduce you to a “buddy” and help you to familiarise yourself with the venue.
  • Discuss procurement and project requirements in pre-arranged one-on-one meetings with event suppliers. Nail your supply chain before Christmas.
  • EBL is not an exhibition. The format is intense yet informal. Experience it once and you’ll know exactly what we mean.
  • This year’s event features some new content sessions. The “How” sessions demonstrate what can be achieved when you collaborate with a supplier or freelancer. For example, learn how Victorious Festival shaved almost £30,000 off its fuel bill this year by working with its power provider.
  • Sustainability, site management, accessibility, Zone Ex, and adverse weather planning are just some of the topics being discussed in dedicated roundtables.
  • When you’re on site, how often do you say that it’s important to look out for others? Well, now you can with our special training and development programme. We have sessions dedicated to harm reduction and welfare, event control and the role you play, and neurodivergence.
  • Take part in CPR and defibrillator training with the British Heart Foundation.
  • Our content takes place in a small-group setting. Expertly hosted. All sessions are designed for you to openly share experiences and take home key advice.
  • EBL is working with EventWell to provide a supervised and fully-functioning mental wellness hub and quiet room.
  • Have some fun and do some good. Bid for some great prizes in our live auction and help us to raise vital funds for British Heart Foundation.
  • Don’t worry about a post-lunch carb coma – join one of our NetWalks. Meet someone new whilst getting some steps in.
  • What do you want to get out of attending EBL? Apply now, tell us your preferences and we’ll create a personalised itinerary just for you. An entire schedule based on the things you tell us – the people you want to meet and the content you don’t want to miss.

Still unsure? Neil Fagg, founder of EBL, explains why you should attend EBL: “There’s a lot of excitement for EBL25. The networking is genuine, the pre-arranged meetings are authentic, the conversations are frank, and the content sessions are open. We do have a couple of surprises up our sleeve that are designed to give all our guests something to talk about. So if you would like to find out what they are, apply now. You’ve got until Friday to join our #100club.”

How to Apply Lip Liner Correctly, According to Pro Makeup Artists

Lip liner—a bonafide ‘90s beauty hero—has had a major comeback in recent years. But before jumping on the bandwagon, it’s worth learning how to apply lip liner correctly. With the proper prep and technique, you can easily create a long-lasting look that takes your lip combo to the next level.

Like any makeup product that requires precision, practice makes perfect with lip liner. Once you’ve mastered the basics, there are so many ways to experiment and play. “Think of lip liner as both the blueprint and the barrier for your lip color,” Sara Kuhl, makeup artist and product education director at SeneGence tells Glamour. “It’s a small step that makes a big difference in your final look. That added definition instantly elevates your entire makeup look, giving it that refined, finished touch.”

Below, we asked professional makeup artists for a complete crash course in lip liner, from an easy step-by-step application guide to how to customize your look.

Skip ahead:

What are the benefits of wearing lip liner?

Whether you’re looking to draw more attention to your lips, or just polish up your go-to lipstick look, there are plenty of upsides to adding a liner to your routine. Even at its most basic application level, “Lip liner defines your shape, helps prevent feathering, and extends wear for long-lasting color confidence,” Kuhl says.

Once you’re comfortable with the product, your liner can act like a makeup magic wand—creating subtle illusions that bring major variety to your lip combos. “I like using a lip liner because it allows you to be super precise, and you can adjust the shape of your lips a little by making them appear fuller and more even,” Jake Warden, says Dolce & Gabbana beauty’s global makeup expert.

How to apply lip liner, step-by-step

“Healthy, hydrated lips make for a smooth canvas,” Kuhl says. She recommends starting with a lip exfoliant or conditioning polish to gently remove any dead skin. “Follow with an antioxidant-rich juicy lip mask or a shea butter infused moisturizing gloss to nourish and hydrate, then blot lightly to remove excess moisture before applying your liner.” Warden recommends letting your lip mask sit while doing the rest of your makeup to maximize hydration.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

“Start by identifying your natural border and tracing using short, light strokes for precision,” Kuhl advises. If you’re new to using lip liner, try to follow the contours of your natural lips exactly. Once you’ve created your initial outline, “use your finger or a small blending brush to softly diffuse the liner. This makes the process very forgiving and should be simple to follow.”

Once you’ve created a subtle outline, you can decide if or where you want to build up definition. Depending on your look, you might want to retrace certain areas or your full lips for a darker, higher-contrast look.

Step 4 (optional): Exaggerate

“Once you’re comfortable and feeling confident with your true shape, you can gradually start experimenting with soft, subtle enhancements,” Kuhl says. To start, you might try rounding out the center of your bottom lip to add fullness, or carving out your cupid’s bow with more liner.

How to pick a shade of lip liner

While you’re learning the ropes, Warden says that it’s a good idea to pick a shade that’s close to your natural lip color—or a shade or two darker, to make sure it shows up. When picking a shade based on your skin tone, Warden recommends:

  • Soft pinks, peaches, and nude beige liners for light skin tones
  • Rosy, mauve, or caramel shades for medium and olive skin tones
  • Rich browns, plums, or deep rose liners for deep skin tones.

How to Apply Liquid Lipstick Correctly, According to Pro Makeup Artists

At first glance, learning how to apply liquid lipstick may seem intuitive. But in reality, it’s not always as simple as swiping on your favorite gloss.

Liquid formulas combine the pigment of a classic lipstick with the controlled application of a lip-gloss wand. It typically goes on wet, and dries into a smudge-proof texture. The product is loved by makeup artists and enthusiasts alike for its staying power: “A liquid lipstick will be more long-lasting and overall wear longer throughout the day than a regular lipstick,” Steve Kassajikian, head of global artistry for Urban Decay, tells Glamour. “Plus, you won’t get transfer or bleeding with a liquid lipstick that you might experience from a solid.”

Whether you’re after a statement lip or a pillowy neutral pout, liquid lipstick is a product you can count on to elevate your whole look—and last. Below, pro makeup artists share their best tips for maximizing your liquid lip.

How to prep your lips for liquid lipstick

Experts say that the most common mistake when using liquid lipstick is not preparing your lips properly for the product. “Lip care prior to applying liquid lipstick is essential for a smooth application,” says Lauren D’Amelio Ventre, a celebrity makeup artist. Before you go in with makeup, “exfoliate the lips with a gentle lip scrub to remove dry skin and to avoid patchiness,” Kassajikian says. “Then apply a lip balm to bring moisture back into the lips.”

Once some hydration has soaked in, blot your balm off your lips for a drier base. An optional next step is applying a lipstick primer—“but it’s not really needed if you prep by exfoliating and hydrating,” D’Amelio Ventre says.

After prepping your lips for the product (see above), experts recommend tracing the outline of your lips with a lip liner. “I always prefer a liner before applying liquid lipstick. It works as a barrier and gives you an outline to achieve the perfect lip shape,” Kassajikian says. D’Amelio Ventre agrees: “It comes down to personal preference, but it just makes the liquid lipstick look bolder and sharper.”

How to Apply Mascara Correctly, According to a Pro Makeup Artist

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

From under eye smudges to clumps and flakes, learning how to apply mascara correctly is important for any eye look. There’s nothing worse than applying a full face of makeup, only for your best mascara to end up in smears or black specs across your face. Although using mascara may seem straightforward, there are a few application tips to keep in mind for the best results.

For starters? Make sure your lashes are clean. “For all of my clients I start with a gentle cleanse over their entire face, including their eyes,” says makeup artist Emily Gray, whose clients include Lana Del Rey and Marren Morris. “I love using Shiseido Facial Cotton Pads because it’s gentle on the skin and doesn’t tug or shed with Sisley Paris Eau Efficace Gentle Makeup Remover. This micellar water takes off any remaining makeup from the eyes, which makes it the perfect prep for any eye or lash look.”

If you use a lash curler, Gray has a few tips on protecting your hairs from damage. “First, I like to start with curling the bare lashes, this is important to do prior to putting on mascara,” she says. “I’m certain that we have all seen those videos of an innocent person accidentally taking off all their lashes with a lash curler and their mascara still wet. Please, curl your lashes prior to putting on mascara.”

Once your lashes are prepped, here comes the fun part: using the mascara wand. To help break down how to apply mascara correctly, Gray shares her best methods and tricks.

What is the correct way to apply mascara?

You may be tempted to go straight in with loads of product, but for the best lash look, Gray recommends starting little by little. “I like to take the wand and scrap the excess product off,” she says.” I prefer to work in thinner layers and build up the lashes.

Start from the bottom roof of the lashes and “wiggle” your way to the top. “Work on the next eye and allow that coat to dry before adding another layer. Depending on the mascara, I like about three to four coats of mascara.”

If you like a separated lash look, Gray recommends picking up a lash comb. “For extra definition, I like to take the comb and go through all the individual lashes, making sure there are no clumps. I would just advise being careful as lash combs are metal and sharp. Do not stab yourself accidentally!”

How do I avoid clumps in my mascara?

“Some tips and tricks to avoid clumping are to: work in thinner layers and use a lash comb after mascara,” says Gray. “I find using too much product right off the bat causes really clumpy lashes, so make sure you’re taking off the excess product.”

Apply now for Event Buyers Live 2025

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Excitement is building for the 2025 edition of Event Buyers Live (EBL) as applications are now open.

There are just 100 spaces available to attend the hosted buyer event (November 10-12) and some of those places have already been snapped up by event organisers looking to get ahead of the game.

Brought to you by the same team behind StandOut magazine, EBL takes place within the luxury of the Carden Park Estate, Cheshire. Chosen for its private location, the venue provides the perfect environment for productive conversations between respected event professionals looking to discuss projects and procurement requirements for 2026 and beyond.

The hosted buyer event provides live event organisers with a personalised itinerary that includes pre-arranged one-on-one meetings with suppliers, unrivalled networking opportunities, and an education programme packed with relatable, inspiring, and useful content.

Janine Walmsley, delegate manager at Event Buyers Live, said: “Every year, we say to people you must come and experience EBL for yourself but it’s not until they have experienced the event in its entirety that they really do get its true value.

“When we say that the event is nothing but enjoyable, valuable, and beneficial, it’s because so much thought and care has gone into the planning.”

In 2024, event professionals from SJM Concerts, LS Events, U-Live, Marble London, Strata, National Eisteddfod, SailGP, Festival Republic, ASO-UK, Judgeday, Boomtown, The Football Association, Royal Highland Show, Hay Festival, APL Event, and Wasserman attended the respected event.

Adam Lockton, national event manager at Cancer Research UK, was just one event professional that attended EBL for the first time in 2024. He said: “I was so impressed with the concept, the organisation, and the various formats that were used throughout the event to allow for some really rich and in- depth conversations. This will undoubtedly help Cancer Research UK become more professional, and more efficient in the way we operate and deliver our events in the future.”

This year, event professionals from JBM Music, The Jockey Club, Mainstage Festivals, SC Productions, 2000trees, 20-20 Events Management, and Stable Events are already confirmed to attend the three-day hosted buyer event.

Walmsley continued: “For the last ten years, we’ve taken on board all the feedback from every single iteration of EBL. We constantly tweak the flow of the event and our procedures to raise the bar even higher because when someone calls you the ‘Rolls Royce of industry events’ there is pressure to live up to that standard and go beyond it.

“This year’s event has some brilliant new additions that are all designed to get people talking and help with strategy and the decision-making process so I urge everyone to jump online, fill in an application, and apply for one of our 100 spaces now.”

If you would like more information on EBL25, visit www.eventbuyerslive.com or call the team on 01795 509113. Or, if you know that you need help with tenders, apply today.
