Apple Martin says famous parents didn’t let her ‘feel entitled to anything’

Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow made sure daughter Apple doesn’t feel “entitled to anything”.

Apple Martin has played down nepo baby claims

The Coldplay singer and his Goop founder ex-wife – who have Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19, together – made sure to raise their children with a strong work ethic, which has made them “grateful” for opportunities in life.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, Apple said: “I constantly remind myself how grateful I am to have these opportunities.

“I know this is not a normal way to grow up by any means.

“But my parents did a really good job of instilling in me that I shouldn’t be entitled to anything. I have to work.”

Apple – who is studying law, history and society at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee – has joined Self Portrait for a new fashion campaign, having appeared for Chanel at Paris Fashion Week and posed with her Hollywood star mother for GapStudio.

However, by the time she turned 16 she had already started working in a clothes shop.

Back in 2020, her dad Chris told Ellen DeGeneres: “It’s her first job, and she’s about to be 16 and she’s making her way in the world and I’m so proud of her.”

Now, Apple has admitted she is doing what she can to have “a normal college experience”.

She told the newspaper: “Hanging out with my friends and trying to have a normal college experience makes me feel more normal.

“That’s how I like to unwind. We’ll sit down and do little guitar playing sessions, one person will play and the others will sing.

“I also love watching reality TV with my friends. There was one day we spent five hours on the couch and just watched old episodes of America’s Next Top Model.”

Apple SVP On Why They Dropped The "Plus" From Apple TV

Apple SVP On Why They Dropped The “Plus” From Apple TV

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Services at Apple, is giving insight into the rebrand of Apple TV+ into simply Apple TV.

Apple quietly rebranded its streaming service into Apple TV and dropped the plus sign, but in the process created some confusion.

Apple TV is also the name of their streaming media player hardware, and the app name within the device. The plus helped distinguish the streaming service from the other two, but in a recent interview, Cue explained why they decided to rename it.

“We put the plus in there because we’ve used it in our other services like iCloud+ and [Apple] News+, but we do that when we have a free service and then there’s a paid version,” Cue said on The Town podcast.

He continued, “We stayed consistent because of it, but we all called it Apple TV, and we said, given where we are today, it’s a great time to do it, so let’s just do it.”

Although Cue makes a good point about the plus being a paid version of services that have a free tier, that has not always been the case. Take, for example, Apple Fitness+, the workout service, which has no free tier. Similarly, Apple Music, a paid service, doesn’t offer a free tier, and its name doesn’t include a plus, similar to Apple Arcade.

Cue also clarified the confusion some users were now debating about Apple TV being both the streaming service and the streaming device.

“Our hardware is called Apple TV 4K for your TV,” he said. “I think that’s fine, and the app is called Apple TV. It’s been called Apple TV on our third-party products as well, so I don’t think that’ll be a problem at all.”

The Apple TV streaming service launched in 2019 with eight original series, including The Morning Show, For All Mankind, See, Servant, and Dickinson.

Singer takes on Brat standout before releasing Fancy Some More? remix album this Friday

PinkPantheress served up a cover of Charli XCX’s “Apple” during the singer’s appearance on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge .

Ahead of the release of her Fancy Some More? remix album, PinkPantheress delivered a rendition of the Brat favorite that upped the Nineties dance vibes. During the two-minute performance, PinkPantheress also attempted the viral “Apple Dance” while holding the microphone in one hand.

Fancy Some More? arrives this Friday with a stacked guest list that includes Kylie Minogue, Bladee, Seventeen, Nia Archives, Sugababes, JT, Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx, Rachel Chinouriri, Kaytranada, Jade, Anitta, and many more. The release serves as a companion album to PinkPantheress’ 2025 mixtape Fancy That, which was named one of Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2025 So Far.

The mixtape features the hit single “Tonight” that she also performed during her Live Lounge visit.

Trending Stories

The Live Lounge performance and PinkPantheress’ recent Tiny Desk concert have served as a preview of the singer’s upcoming An Evening With PinkPantheress tour that kicks off later this month in Brooklyn.

That tour marks a return to the road for PinkPantheress, who previously canceled all of her scheduled 2024 appearances last year. “I was full up. There was something that I needed to address, and so I had to leave,” the musician told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 earlier this year. “And I did that for my own good. And obviously it was a very sad moment for people that wanted to see me but couldn’t see me. But obviously, what goes around comes around, and I’ll be back again.”

Rebecca Miller’s Apple TV+ Martin Scorsese Doc

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

An early montage in Rebecca Miller‘s montage-heavy five-part documentary on Martin Scorsese focuses on the ways that friends, loved ones and collaborators address the Oscar-winning director.

There are several “Martys” among the ultra-familiar, a lot of “Martins” among the respectfully familiar, and a few “Mr. Scorseses” among the familiar but deferential. (“Martin Scorsese” would be reserved for the respectfully distant and, of course, “Scorsese – Monster: The Martin Scorsese Story” for Ryan Murphy.)

Mr. Scorsese

The Bottom Line

Conventional but utterly engaging.

Venue: New York Film Festival (Spotlight)
Airdate: Friday, October 17 (Apple TV+)
Director: Rebecca Miller

Miller’s docuseries is titled Mr. Scorsese and that encapsulates her approach as well: This overview of Scorsese’s career is thorough, peppered with warmth and affection, but perhaps just a shade more conventional and, yes, deferential, than the subject matter might ideally require. Especially in its second half, Mr. Scorsese becomes a little bit of a laundry list, and its attempts to tie together aspects of Scorsese’s career feel a little rushed. But the series has enough wonky inside-baseball film conversation for serious fans — in its best moments, it could nearly be called Ms. Schoonmaker — and enough clips and colorful stories to inspire casual observers to seek out a couple more semi-obscure Scorsese titles.

Scorsese’s life and work, still ongoing thank heavens, have been given a rather simple five-act structure for purposes of the documentary. Miller starts with Scorsese’s early biography and his evolution from aspiring priest to student filmmaker to first-time feature director on the Roger Corman-produced Boxcar Bertha. Then it’s over to Mean Streets, Scorsese’s early Robert De Niro collaborations, cocaine and over-exertion. Then more cocaine, plus Raging Bull and the director’s mid-80s wandering in the cinematic desert. Then the series concludes with Last Temptation of Christ and Goodfellas, followed by the Leonardo DiCaprio years, resolving with pre-production on Killers of the Flower Moon.

For the most part, Miller has access to all of the people you need to tell Scorsese’s story — starting with Scorsese, who clearly sat for a lot of in-depth interviews in a variety of locations, including what appears to be a waterside vacation house; a cluttered urban office; and, best of all, several darkly lit restaurants, where he gets to gab with friends from childhood as they remember their rough-and-tumble upbringing with a mixture of candor and nostalgic romanticization. Miller sits down with all three of Scorsese’s daughters, ex-wife Isabella Rossellini, peers like Brian De Palma and Steven Spielberg, stars such as De Niro and DiCaprio (along with the likes of Miller’s husband Daniel Day-Lewis, Margot Robbie and Sharon Stone), and an assortment of regular collaborators, with longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker and writing partners like Paul Schrader and Jay Cocks among key behind-the-scenes figures.

Rounding out the documentary are younger directors following to varying degrees in Scorsese’s footsteps, like Spike Lee, Ari Aster and both Safdie brothers. Journalist/film scholar Mark Harris pops up late in the series to smooth some intellectual transitions. These relative outsiders offer some insight, but rarely feel as seamlessly integrated into Miller’s story as the people who were there.

The first two episodes, which lay the foundation for all of Scorsese’s fixations and themes, were my favorites, with Scorsese and his assortment of matured tough-guy pals steering anecdotes interspersed with storyboards drawn by a young Scorsese and footage from his acclaimed student films. Miller is never formally adventurous, though some of the art/artist parallels are illustrated in thoughtful split-screens. From the violence he witnessed in the streets to the escape offered by secure and air-conditioned movie theaters to the moral inquiry prompted by his immersion in Catholicism, this is Scorsese in a nutshell, delivered with the director’s trademark volubility that remains delightful even if most of the background was conveyed in documentaries like Italianamerican and A Personal Journey With Martin Scorsese Through American Movies.

Martin Scorsese has always been an open book, a storyteller who has offered his autobiography freely and an auteur whose deepest philosophical themes have been recurring and explored in bold type. That he’s never been an “Oh, I’d prefer to let the work speak for itself” recluse is to Miller’s advantage. But she has to push to get different or deeper engagement, leaving many of her questions and conversational detours audible.

Given that it could easily have become oversaturated with testosterone, it’s obvious that Mr. Scorsese benefits from being made by a director who isn’t simply a giddy fanboy. It’s in moments like Miller’s inquiry about the use of hands as a motif in The Age of Innocence that you can see Scorsese relax and embrace a topic that isn’t the usual gabbing about violence and Catholic guilt and whether or not he can be classified as a gangster filmmaker — not that those topics are excluded.

Nothing is exactly off-limits, but one can sense Scorsese trying to de-sensationalize his drug use or the work-related obsessiveness that led to his many divorces so thoroughly that there’s nothing for Miller to dwell on. This makes the version of Scorsese’s life presented here follow a very familiar “Rise, slight fall, rise again” arc, along with a “Sexagenarian or septuagenarian gets another chance at fatherhood and corrects the mistakes he made the first time, much to his older children’s resignation/chagrin” formula that has become so common for documentaries about men of a certain age.

Scorsese’s big movies get the most extensive focus, and the truth is I could happily watch five hours of Scorsese and Schoonmaker breaking down tape on Raging Bull, Goodfellas and Mean Streets. But it’s often just as interesting when Scorsese goes somewhat deep on a less expected film, like the long-term dream project Gangs of New York, or a less universally adored project like Casino.

Miller is so eager to at least touch on everything on Scorsese’s resumé that the few gaps stick out. I’m pretty sure, for example, that Scorsese’s only scripted feature not to get even a token mention is Hugo. Do I need a deep exploration of Hugo? Nah, but Scorsese’s ability to adapt to and evolve with cinematic technology is a big part of his venerability. Do I need deep dives into Boardwalk Empire or Vinyl? Probably not, but those HBO dramas, one a reasonably large success and the other a large failure, represent a not-insignificant portion of Scorsese’s output from the past 15 years.

I’m also a bigger fan of Scorsese’s documentary work than Miller seems to be. While The Last Waltz gets ample attention, it’s odd that Mick Jagger is in the documentary for basically one quote about the way music is used in Casino, without mentioning the Rolling Stones concert film Shine a Light.

Again, though, what’s missing in Mr. Scorsese stands out because so much is present, and present in such solidly rendered ways. Scorsese is an always entertaining raconteur; the footage and outtakes from his films fuel an instant desire for a career retrospective binge; and his daughters (especially Francesca, whose social media posts with her dad have often gone viral) round out the character portrait beyond his normally fast-talking, excitedly curmudgeonly persona. I never wanted anything different, just slightly more, from the docuseries.

TORONTO – Baseball fans will now be able to watch the Toronto Blue Jays’ potential playoff clincher Friday night in Kansas City on the team’s regular broadcast home in Canada.

Sportsnet, the club’s Canadian rights-holder, said Thursday it had struck a deal with Apple TV to simulcast the game on Rogers airwaves.

Entering Thursday’s games, Toronto’s magic number to clinch a post-season berth was three.

Before the deal, only Apple TV subscribers would have been able to watch the Blue Jays’ series opener against the Royals, which could seal Toronto’s spot in the 12-team post-season.

“This is a really exciting time of year for Blue Jays fans, and we wanted to try and find a way for Canadians to watch Friday’s game on Sportsnet, especially at this pivotal moment of the season,” a Rogers spokesperson said in an email. “In working with the Blue Jays, Major League Baseball and Apple TV, glad we found a way.”

New Apple Watch Ultra 3 floors Series 11 on battery life and display

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Today, Apple unveiled the third-generation Apple Watch Ultra, which boasts the biggest Apple Watch display yet, advancements in health monitoring and location tracking, and an impressive battery life, and it knocks the Apple Watch Series 11 out of the park.

But don’t just take our word for it — with a significant price difference between the two smartwatch models, we’ve compared the battery life, display and features below.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 UK release date

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 was announced at this evening’s ‘Awe-Dropping’ Apple event, and it’s available to pre-order from right now (Tuesday 9th September), and available to buy outright from next Friday 19th September.

Apple Watch Series 11 UK release date

Like the Apple Watch Ultra 3, the Apple Watch Series 11 was confirmed at today’s Apple event, and it’s also available to pre-order from right now (Tuesday 9th September), and available to buy outright from next Friday 19th September.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 vs Apple Watch Series 11 UK price

Apple

There has been no price hike for the new smartwatches; the Apple Watch Series 11 will begin from £369 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is priced from £749.

But why is the Apple Watch Ultra 3 £400 more expensive than the Apple Watch Series 11? In a nutshell, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 offers a more premium experience for people who are serious about their health and fitness.

The Apple Watch Ultra range offers larger and brighter displays, a longer battery life, and improved GPS, and its design caters for even the most extreme sports, using durable materials like titanium and sapphire crystal and boasting a 100m water resistance.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 vs Apple Watch Series 11 battery life

Apple Watch 11

Apple

As we mentioned earlier, one of the huge selling points of the Apple Watch Ultra series is that it has a longer battery life. While this caters to people who might be taking part in extreme sports, such as ultramarathons, Hyrox and 24-hour Tough Mudder races, it’s also an advantage not to have to remember to charge your smartwatch every night.

The Apple Watch Series 11 will maintain up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge, whereas the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will offer up to 36 hours on a single charge.

Faster charging technology, which we first saw on the Apple Watch Series 10, and which is brilliant for people who rely on their smartwatch throughout the day and night, will be incorporated on both smartwatches.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 vs Apple Watch Series 11 display size

Apple Watch 11

Apple

While the Apple Watch display size is significantly smaller than that of an iPhone, as users, we still want to be able to see notifications and updates at the tilt of our head, which is why smartwatch users were eager to see a larger display size on the new Apple Watch offerings.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 has certainly delivered in the display department! The Apple Watch Ultra 3 has an OLED screen and 422 x 514 pixel resolution, higher than the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s 410 x 502 pixel resolution, and the bezel width has been trimmed to expand the display size, meaning that the dimensions still come in at 49mm in height and 44mm in width.

Also on the Apple Watch Ultra 3, the smartwatch comes with an upgraded LTPO3 display, which allows the smartwatch display to dynamically switch between refresh rates (the number of times per second a display updates with a new image), making for a smoother experience.

The new Apple Watch Ultra 3 has a maximum brightness of 4,000 nits, in comparison, the Apple Watch Series 11 has a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits.

Plus, the Apple Watch Series 11 will maintain the same sizing as the Apple Watch Series 10: 46mm in height and 42mm in width.

As we saw on the Apple iPhone 17 line-up, the Apple Watch Series 11 display will include Liquid Glass Flow.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 vs Apple Watch Series 11 health features

Both the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch Series 11 feature the new S11 chip, which comes with a dual-core CPU and 64GB of storage, allowing for faster processing speeds and plenty of space for apps and storing data. The new chipset makes the fantastic health and fitness features possible.

At its core, the Apple Watch helps you keep an eye on your health, and one of the more exciting new health features includes high blood pressure alerts, which alerts to any possible hypertension. Similar to the sleep apnea detection feature, the high blood pressure alert will provide users with early warnings for the condition. Apple expects the Apple Watch to help alert up to one million people about possible hypertension within the first year of wearing an Apple Watch.

Plus, Apple has reintroduced the blood oxygen tracking feature to the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch Series 11.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 vs Apple Watch Series 11 fitness features

Apple has transitioned to a MediaTek processor, which enables powerful performance without compromising on efficient energy use. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch Series 11 also offer a more reliable network performance, too.

Satellite connectivity has been introduced to the Apple Watch Ultra 3, which is brilliant for fitness fanatics who exercise in remote or off-grid locations. As for location tracking, ultra-wideband technology ensures precision.

Our verdict: why we’d recommend the new Apple Watch Ultra 3

Apple Watch Ultra 3

Apple

As you’d expect from the RadioTimes.com Technology team, we’ve been keeping a keen eye on what you’re expecting and hoping for in the run up to the ‘Awe-Dropping’ Apple event. It’s clear to us from the trends, that people are wanting a larger display and a longer battery with their new Apple Watch. With this in mind, we’d recommend the Apple Watch Ultra 3 as your next smartwatch purchase.

Battery life is a critical factor for smartwatch users; with smartwatches continually tracking your health, fitness, and keeping you up to date with your notifications such as iMessages, the last thing anyone wants is their smartwatch running out of battery mid-day.

As we mentioned earlier, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 boasts a 36-hour battery life on a single charge, which is not only fantastic for extreme sports like ultramarathons, but it’s also brilliant for less intense situations, such as someone travelling across the country, a shift worker wanting to track their steps, and for last-minute sleepovers where you’d still like to monitor your sleep patterns.

As well as battery life, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 delivers with its larger and brighter display. If you rely on your smartwatch for detailed visuals, such as health data, you’ll love the new LTPO3 display which offers improved resolution and great power efficiency. Plus, the Apple Watch Ultra will debut with exclusive watch faces.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max UK release date and when pre-orders open

After months of rumours, leaks and speculation, the Apple iPhone Pro Max 17 was announced this evening at Apple’s ‘Awe-Dropping’ event in California. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook led the keynote, and we saw multiple product announcements, not just the new Apple iPhone 17 line-up.

With rumours of a vapour-chamber cooling upgrade, new Orange colourway, and a drastic design change which sees a triple camera bump placed horizontally across the top of the iPhone, we’re here to separate fact from fiction, and tell you all you need to know about the new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, including, most importantly, when you can buy it.

Can’t wait until the Apple iPhone 17? Check out the Apple iPhone 16 at Very

What is the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max UK release date?

Apple

The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max was announced at today’s Apple event, alongside the Apple iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Air.

As per Apple’s usual style, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a pre-order window of one week, from Friday 12th September, until the release date on Friday 19th September.

How to pre-order the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max in the UK

Pre-orders for the new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will open this Friday 12th September, and they’ll last one week until the Friday 19th September release date.

How to pre-order the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max outright

We’re expecting multiple UK retailers to stock the brand-new Apple iPhone 17 line-up, including the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max. From the likes of Currys to Very, as soon as the pre-order window opens, we’ll list the retailers below.

How to pre-order a Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max contract

Just like with purchasing outright, we expect plenty of UK mobile networks will be offering the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max on contract. Once the pre-order window opens, we’ll include the complete list of mobile networks stocking the new iPhone below.

What is the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max UK price?

So, how much more expensive is the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max in comparison to the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max?

This year, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max has an RRP of £1,199.

There was a lot of speculation about the pricing leading up to the ‘Awe-Dropping’ event, particularly because of the US tariffs.

Last year, we saw the Apple iPhone 16 have a starting price of £799 for the smallest 128GB model, followed by the iPhone 16 Plus at £899, iPhone 16 Pro at £999, and iPhone 16 Pro Max at £1,199.

Apple

Yes, the brand-new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max comes in Orange! The colourways for the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max are Grey, Silver, Dark Blue, Black and yes, Orange.

As for the dimensions, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will come in at 6.9-inches with a thickness of just 8.725mm.

While Apple has moved away from Titanium to Aluminium on its line-up of iPhone 17 smartphones, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max maintains the Titanium frame. However, on the rear of the smartphone, the bottom half will be glass to maintain wireless charging.

The new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will run on iOS 26 — Apple’s latest iOS software which was announced at its WWDC25 (Worldwide Developers Conference) event earlier this year — which means the new smartphone will have Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language. This design language will give the new smartphone a glossy and translucent look.

Perhaps the biggest design change we’ve seen, however, is the larger camera bump with a triple camera system on the rear of the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max which is placed horizontally across the smartphone.

What are the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max features?

Speaking of cameras, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max boasts some huge camera improvements, including an 8x optical zoom, a 18MP front-facing camera, Centre Stage camera, and a 48MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The new smartphone will also feature simultaneous recording with both the front and rear cameras.

Apple was so confident in its camera, that the ‘Awe-Dropping’ event was filmed on an Apple iPhone Pro camera!

The iOS 26 upgrade means that the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will come equipped with features like Call Screening which vets unknown callers, a ‘hold’ feature which holds your spot on customer support lines, then alerts you when it’s your turn, real-time language translation to FaceTime and phone calls, and you can now send a poll in iMessage.

The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max comes fitted with the A19 Pro chip to improve its performance and power efficiency. However, there is a new thermal system to prevent the iPhone from overheating.

What is the full Apple iPhone 17 line-up?

Apple

At today’s ‘Awe-Dropping’ event in California, we were treated to four new smartphones: the Apple iPhone 17, Apple iPhone 17 Pro, Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max and the Apple iPhone 17 Air.

You might’ve noticed that there is no Apple iPhone 17 Plus, this is because it’s been replaced by the Apple iPhone 17 Air. The new Apple iPhone 17 Air is brilliantly slim, coming in at just 5.5mm (in comparison, the iPhone 16 is 7.8mm in thickness), and boasts a 6.6-inch display size with an A19 chip.

The Apple iPhone 17 will set you back from £799, Apple iPhone 17 Pro costs £1,099, Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will set you back £1,199 and the Apple iPhone 17 Air costs £999.
