Alex Van Halen is authoring a new anthology book (working title: Van Halen) that promises to open “the Van Halen family archive for the first time.”

A preliminary press release from Genesis Publications notes, “The years 1978–1984 are explored through correspondence, tour memorabilia, album artwork, press material, musical equipment, unpublished photographs and much more – charting the brothers’ journey from childhood and the band’s formation to their debut and meteoric rise.”

As of now, no publish date has been announced for the book, with fans encouraged to visit VanHalenAnthology.com for new details as they are unveiled. Alex previously published the autobiographical book Brothers, detailing his life and career with his late brother and bandmate, Eddie Van Halen (order here).

“Trust in the Force and it’s energy… which binds all living things.” Disney / Lucasfilm has revealed the full official trailer for Star Wars: Visions – Volume 3, their animated anthology of short films from Japan. This next one looks even more incredible than ever! Some truly stunning stylistic choices in these animated shorts. The first collection of Star Wars: Visions anime shorts launched in 2021, with Volume 2 debuting in 2023, and now we have another set of nine awe-inspiring new shorts debuting in October. This anthology of animated shorts from around the world celebrates the mythos of Star Wars through unique cultural lenses. This next season returns to Japan where it all began, featuring nine shorts from nine unique anime studios: david production, Kamikaze Douga + ANIMA, Kinema citrus Co, Polygon Pictures, Production I.G, Project Studio Q, TRIGGER, WIT Studio — to further demonstrate the diversity & creativity of Japanese animation. Including one directed by Shinya Ohira (from the studio who made the Kill Bill: Vol. 1 animated segment). As always, I’m excited to watch ALL these as soon as the drop on Disney+. I’ll be watching each one of them.

Here’s the main official trailer for Lucasfilm’s series Star Wars: Visions – Volume 3, from YouTube:

The next installment in this animation series will also introduce five new anime studios to the world of Star Wars: ANIMA (co-production with Kamikaze Douga), David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio — to further demonstrate the diversity and creativity of Japanese animation. “6 new tapes.” What’s on them? Find out in October… Shudder has revealed the full official trialer for the next horror anthology offering in this series – it’s titled V/H/S/Halloween with freaky Halloween-themed stories this time. Another six horror film segments are included in this one, which will be streaming in early October. “It’s a spook-tacular anthology the whole family can enjoy…” This is the 8th V/H/S movie, which launched in 2012 and most recently included V/H/S/Beyond just last year. The segments in this collection are by filmmakers Bryan M. Ferguson, Casper Kelly, Micheline Pitt-Norman, R.H. Norman, Alex Ross Perry, Paco Plaza, Anna Zlokovic. A series of Halloween-themed videotapes unleashes twisted, blood-soaked tales, turning trick-or-treat night into a struggle for survival. This looks like it has some truly freaky, insane, messed up horror stories! Reviews from Fantastic Fest are very positive, saying this is a “kick-ass adrenaline pumping treat for horror fans” although it goes really hard on the shock value this time. Check it out below.
