bitchy | King Charles’ courtiers believe QEII has ‘a lot to answer for’ with the Andrew problem

It’s incredibly funny to watch King Charles try to thread this needle with his late mother’s memory: Queen Elizabeth II was the greatest monarch ever and everything she said and did is above reproach… AND the late queen was petty, negligent, short-sighted and she’s to blame for pretty much every problem plaguing Charles. You can’t have it both ways – either QEII’s words are the royal gospel or she made tons of horrible decisions which left the monarchy in terrible shape long-term. Which is it? All of this brings me to Roya Nikkhah’s new piece in the Times, where “insiders” and “sources” are basically complaining about how QEII should have taken care of this Prince Andrew situation during her reign, and why oh why did they leave this issue on the shoulders of Charles the Ditherer? Some highlights:

A stain on the Carolean era: Whichever way the saga of Andrew ends — and the end does not yet appear to be in sight — it has indelibly stained the Carolean era, a reign that has already been buffeted by the King’s cancer, for which he is still receiving weekly treatment. A friend of the monarch said: “He won’t be looking at it through the lens of ‘this is my brother’. He’ll be looking at it through the lens of ‘this is getting in the way of the royal family’s duty to serve the country and distracting from the public work’ — and that’s not where he wants the focus to be.”

The inherited problem: Charles and his aides have been firefighting for weeks, attempting to digest each new, tawdry revelation about Andrew that emerges to do with his links to the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein…But there is a growing feeling that too little is being done too late, and the Palace is playing catch-up because of mis-steps committed during the last reign. After his BBC Newsnight interview, Andrew was forced by Queen Elizabeth, with the support of Charles and Prince William, to step back from public life in the vain hope the scandal would fade. In February 2022, when Andrew agreed a multimillion-pound settlement with Giuffre, part-funded by his mother and Charles and admitting no liability, the late Queen enforced further punishment, removing his HRH styling, military titles and patronages. But she could not bring herself to fully strip him of his titles, or suggest that alternative accommodation might be more appropriate in the circumstances. He remained her weak spot, and Charles is now paying the price.

QEII has a lot to answer for!! A source who knows the royal family said: “It seems to me that Queen Elizabeth has quite a lot to answer for. It’s as if she left an unexploded bomb for Charles. The thing about the Queen was that everyone always said she was so dutiful, and she was — but this was a terrible dereliction of duty. She indulged Andrew all the time and always avoided confrontation.”

QEII the ostrich: Another royal source, who knew the late Queen well, said: “It wasn’t just Andrew — it was all the family troubles. She just didn’t want to engage. She was like an ostrich with her head in the sand. But I don’t think any of the family knew the full extent of what would come out.”

The advanced talks with Andrew: Talks between Andrew and courtiers, thought to be led by the King’s principal private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, on the issue of where else he might live — and who would fund a move — are said to be continuing. The prince has so far dug in his heels and shows no imminent signs of moving. This is despite mounting pressure prompted by revelations last week in The Times that he pays the Crown Estate a “peppercorn rent” for the sprawling mansion.

Charles must stop dithering and confront Andrew directly: The source said: “Charles has to say to his face, ‘There’s no choice here, you must now leave Royal Lodge. Whatever the lease says. You say you always put your family and country first. Prove it. This is doing real damage to the monarchy. You’ve got to move.’ I think that would do a lot to assuage public anger.” Another royal source said: “The public are angry at Andrew, angry that he’s still in that house and angry at the disdain in that statement. Something else [beyond the dukedom] has to go.”

What is Camilla doing? Queen Camilla has so far kept a low profile on the matter, choosing to support her husband privately as he navigates the Andrew fallout. The Palace will not say whether Camilla — who, like the Duchess of Edinburgh, is a longstanding campaigner on raising awareness of sexual abuse — has read Giuffre’s book or expressed an interest in its contents, published posthumously. A friend of Camilla’s said: “Knowing her, she probably will. Set against the Queen and the Duchess of Edinburgh’s personal agenda, it is a very difficult backdrop to try and promote the issues they care about when they’ve got someone so close to home caught up in it.”

Endless scandal: Another former courtier says of the endless scandal: “If a story lasts more than nine days, you’re toast. It’s been 15 years now.” A friend of the King said: “The King has one of the best antenna for judging public opinion and he is keeping a very close eye on the mood on this matter. There is a genuine sense that he feels he has taken every step available and they have pulled all the decisive levers they can. If it isn’t enough, because the public outrage is still high, they will look again. But it is not an institution that is prone to knee-jerk reactions.”

[From The Times]

“The King has one of the best antenna for judging public opinion” – no he doesn’t??? LMAO. Charles married Camilla, for God’s sake. Charles doesn’t have a feel for public opinion, but he believes that he can manipulate public opinion to get his desired result. Andrew Lownie – who wrote the book on the Yorks, published this past summer – pointed out that the public is way ahead of the monarchy and the government on the Andrew situation. There’s HUGE public support for formally stripping Andrew of all of his titles and forcing him out of Royal Lodge and launching a criminal inquiry into him. Charles and the Starmer government look out of touch for attempting to slow-walk these half-measure punishments.

As for all of the stuff about blaming QEII… lol. Charles really is his mother’s biggest opp, and always has been. Charles is disrespecting the dead queen! Punishing Andrew is a slap in the dead queen’s face! Sorry, do we only reserve that kind of hyperbole when it’s about the Sussexes? The thing that makes it even funnier is that Charles is actually right, QEII should have punished Andrew during her reign and yes, this was always going to explode during Charles’s reign. But QEII didn’t force Charles to put Andrew front-and-center on the Christmas walk and Easter walks. QEII didn’t force Charles to dither and slow-walk the Andrew situation for three years.

‘The Rainmaker’ Stars Answer Our Burning Questions About That Finale

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for The Rainmaker finale.]

Case closed! There were some big surprises in store in The Rainmaker‘s finale, even for those who might’ve read John Grisham‘s novel of the same name or watched the cinematic adaptation to know how the trial might end. To break down the biggest moments and find out the answer to some of our most burning questions, TV Insider caught up with the cast and creatives to dish on all the spoilers.

First, a brief recap of events. Melvin Pritcher (Dan Fogler), after talking to Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan), agreed to testify in the civil trial against the hospital. After all, he wasn’t going to get out of facing prison time for his crimes, no matter what, but at least this would give him an opportunity to get even with the people responsible for his own mother’s death in the house fire. In his testimony, which was allowed as a rebuttal witness account to the doctor’s cause of death assessment, he admitted to murdering multiple patients, including the son of Rudy’s client. Things went off the rails, though, when he leaped across the room to attack Leo Drummond (John Slattery).

Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman) was deeply upset by what happened — not because her client had actively concealed serial murders but because of the attack on Leo. She didn’t waver from her commitment to her client, even under pressure from Rudy, who ultimately admitted he was wrong about her.

At the same time, Brad Noonan (Wade Briggs) faced the very real consequences of doing Leo’s dirty work. After being cornered by the FBI, he then confronted Leo, who quickly surmised he was wearing a wire and refused to say anything that could incriminate himself. He’ll leave Brad holding that bag. Upon learning of this, Sarah approved of Leo’s move, saying, “Somebody’s blood has to end up on the floor, right?”

She also encouraged Wilfred Keeley (Hugh Quarshie) to testify, and he asked her to handle his cross-examination. During the direct, Rudy got Keeley to admit that he was the only person with access to the Narpans machine code to delete the records and that they were erased the day after he learned of Jackie Lemaczyk’s complaint about Pritcher. On cross, though, Sarah found a way to throw Brad under the bus for it, pointing out that he would’ve had access to the master codes as his attorney, too.

With Bruiser (Lana Parrilla) now encouraging Rudy to rest the case, he had a different idea; he decided to call Leo on the stand. Though Rudy got in some good shots — chiefly, airing out his mantra that “the truth is not your client” — the biggest effect was that Leo then had to sit out the case and let Sarah finish the defense. She, of course, rose to the occasion and delivered a poignant and thoughtful closing argument to discredit the witnesses. However, when the jury verdict came in, Dot Black (Karen Bryson) prevailed with a massive, multi-million dollar verdict. Dot then pledged to use the money to create treatment centers, Rudy bought the bar he used to work out, and Deck (P.J. Byrne) decided to try his hand at the bar exam, again, this time with Rudy’s lucky coin in hand. Meanwhile, Brad went to prison and saw a familiar face in the crowd: Melvin Pritcher.

Below, the cast and creator dissect our most burning questions.

Did Dot get her full settlement money?

Yes. Whereas in the book and prior film adaptation, Dot’s settlement was merely an academic exercise, as Great Benefit simply closed up shop and never paid her (or her attorneys, by extension), in this iteration, she gets the money.

Creator Michael Seitzman explained the decision to change that part of the ending, telling TV Insider, “It’s one place where I differ with the book…. I mean, I love the book and I love John’s writing, but I felt at the end that I wanted there to be a real reward. I just felt like they’ve earned it. And I think especially in television, you’ve gone through 10 episodes with these people. You’ve watched this entire thing take place. You’re rooting with all your heart — if we did it right, that is, you’re rooting with all your heart — that they’re going to win at the end. I don’t want to take that away from the character. Then, I don’t want to take it away from the audience.”

Is Sarah fully committed to Leo’s dark side now?

Sarah might have had personal reasons for knowingly letting Brad take the fall for what Keeley did, but still, her morality was unquestionably compromised throughout the case. So is she just going to do Leo’s bidding or carve out her own way of lawyering in the future?

Madison Iseman guessed, “I would like to think she’s paving her own path and giving into her own ways. I even think there’s a world where she never had to give up Rudy, but unfortunately, with the circumstances, she’s always going to pick herself. And our whole story is about the morally gray, and I think she ends up making a decision that people will find questionable, but over everything, I do think she’s trying to think of herself and her own future. And that closing argument has become one of my party tricks because I will never forget it as long as I live. If I have one glass of wine, I’ll recite the whole thing.”

Do Rudy and Sarah still have a future together?

It’s still possible, but those involved with the show have very different takes on it. For Milo Callaghan, what Sarah has done in this case and beyond hasn’t changed the way Rudy feels about her deep down: “I think he’s really in love [with her still]. I think it’s a love story at heart… Michael used to say it’s a bit like a bird and a fish who fell in love, but where are they going to live? That’s the height of their housing troubles. They’re trying to figure out, ‘Can we do this?’ We talked about future seasons and future thoughts and reconciliations, and for me, when I read the scripts, I wanted them to find a way back. I thought it was really smart to deprive the audiences of that, but at the same time, I don’t know, I think Rudy still feels the love. I think right to the last moment, he’s got his hand out.”

Iseman, meanwhile, thinks it’s less likely they can rekindle the romantic elements of their relationship, saying, “I don’t know. There’s a lot that happens. I think they love each other. I think they will always love each other. But I think they are so similar in the way that they are so hard-headed, and I think that’s what made them work so well in the beginning. But they might be too hard-headed to ever put the other person first. So I don’t know if they would ever have a healthy relationship. But you never know.”

Seitzman added, “She would have to make a big turn right for him to take her back because he loves the Sarah from Episode 1. The Sarah that she became is impossible for him to love, because even when Rudy makes mistakes, he’s not morally compromised. He is trying always to do the right thing. She knows that she’s making decisions that are the wrong thing. She’s asked numerous times if you want to get your hands dirty, how dirty? And then she does it over and over and over again. She’s given the opportunity… to take an off-ramp, but she doesn’t. Rudy doesn’t behave like that. His is a real coming of age story. Hers is a Faustian bargain. She would have to undo her deal with the devil in order for him to take her back. But I think, like all exes, you know, we all have a soft spot for every ex. We can’t help it.”

Is Leo going to go to jail?

At the end of the finale, Leo revealed that, while Brad was already in cuffs, he was under his own FBI investigation. John Slattery, for one, has faith in his guy.

“I think Leo is going to do his damndest to stay out of jail, and he’s probably done it before,” he said. As for whether Leo has respect for Sarah in the end, after she proved to be a fellow cutthroat, he said, “Certainly. I think he’s respected her the whole way. I think he’s just trying to figure out whether she’s prepared to fight the good fight, as he sees it. But I think he respected her in the moment he met her, and that’s why he had her stick around.”

Is Bruiser happy her dad left?

After Bruiser found out the truth about her father, that he didn’t murder anyone, he still had to go on the lam from the FBI. So now, the firm is fully hers. Is Bruiser secretly happy about that, even if it means she can’t see her dad? According to Lara Parrilla, it’s “100%” yes. “She’s almost kind of relieved, but doesn’t ever say so, but then she’s secretly excited to do something different with the firm and give Rudy a chance because I don’t think her father would’ve ever done that,” she said.

Will Deck pass the bar exam?

P.J. Byrne isn’t so sure if his fast-talking associate counterpart will have what it takes to finally pass the bar, but he does have an idea of what might happen if he does. He told us, “I don’t know. Will Deck pass the bar after he’s failed it seven times in Season 2? I mean, is eight times a charm… I think he’ll do it, but I don’t think it’ll be easy. And I can only imagine him crossing the bar to his first case, he’s probably going to be a sweat pile. So he’s gotta eat some Lewis Barbecue to get his stomach full, and he might throw up.”

What is the significance of Rudy letting go of his coin?

Since we first met Rudy Baylor in Episode 1, his coin from a trip to Myrtle Beach with his brother has been his prized token, thought to give him luck and the memory of his lost brother. So it was a very meaningful moment indeed when he was finally willing to part with it and give it to Deck for luck with the bar.

“This has been both a driving force for him as well as an anchor that’s holding him down. It comes up periodically in these moments of stress. As he tells Kelly, at one point, ‘My brother said, if I rub my fingers over it’ll give me luck.’ She says, ‘Does it work?’ He says, ‘Sometimes.’ But it’s a security blanket, right? It’s somehow, ‘My brother’s wisdom is going to help me become the man that I want to become,’ the man that he felt his brother was. And by the end, we should believe, as he believes, that he’s become that man, and he doesn’t need it anymore. So he gets it to the person he’s closest with, which is Deck.”

Will there be a second season?

A second season has not yet been announced, but we’ve got some intel about what might happen if it does come along right here.

Jung Yong Hwa Breaks Silence On Wedding Rumors – The Answer Will Leave You Speechless! | Glamsham.com

In the perpetually buzzing world of K-pop, gossip tends to live on of its own accord—and this time, CNBLUE member and actor Jung Yong Hwa was in the midst of wedding rumors. On October 15, a post on an online community went viral after saying that the 36-year-old celebrity was set to wed next year.

With no recent news of dating and his status thought to be unmarried, the rumour surprised fans, generating confusion and intrigue. The cryptic post was simple with the words, “My friend told me that Jung Yong Hwa will be married next year,” and soon spread through all social media platforms.

Faced with the whirlpool of rumors head-on, Jung Yong Hwa went on a livestream to reach out to fans and lay the speculations to rest. Speaking in his characteristic tranquil and sarcastic tone, he replied, “Normally, next year’s itinerary comes up by June. As it is now, my calendar for next year is already filled [with work]. I don’t see a ‘wedding’ on it.”

Brushing aside the rumors, he added, “No wedding on the agenda—so do stop DM’ing me with questions about it. It felt weird even to comment, so I kept my mouth shut.”

With this blunt remark, the singer conclusively refuted the rumors and calmed fans that he has no plans for marriage in the near future. He underscored that his priority at the moment is his hectic professional engagements for the rest of the year.

Jung Yong Hwa’s candid but lighthearted answer came as a welcome relief to fans, who had been spamming his inbox with messages. His blunt message has set the rumors straight, telling fans that not all online gossip must be taken seriously—particularly when it is presented without facts.

Is Kneecap banned from Canada or not? NDP urges answer in high-profile case – National

by jummy84 October 2, 2025

The federal immigration minister is facing increasing pressure to clarify whether the Irish hip-hop group Kneecap is indeed banned from entering Canada, or if the Liberal official who announced the move was approved to make that assertion in a contentious social media post.

In a letter to Immigration Minister Lena Diab on Thursday, NDP MP Jenny Kwan, the party’s immigration critic, urged Diab to say whether the group is indeed banned after the minister and other officials have repeatedly refused to answer questions on the case for almost two weeks.

The band says it has yet to receive any official notice about an entry ban or denial of their electronic visa authorizations.

“Canadians and visitors to Canada deserve to know that they are not subject to arbitrary and politicized weaponization of public policy for political purposes,” Kwan wrote.

“We need to rebuild integrity into the system in this time of misinformation.”

Liberal MP Vince Gasparro, the parliamentary secretary for combating crime, announced on Sept. 19 “on behalf of the Government of Canada” that the band’s members had been deemed ineligible for entry ahead of scheduled concerts this month, based “on the advice of our officials.”

Kwan wants Diab to answer if the officials Gasparro referenced are in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and if she or other IRCC officials authorized Gasparro to speak on their behalf publicly.

The letter also asks if Kneecap were ever formally banned from entering Canada or if they are permitted to enter, and if the Prime Minister’s Office or any other government officials or agencies were involved in approving Gasparro’s announcement.

Kwan pressed Diab on some of those questions directly during question period on Thursday, but Diab declined to directly answer.

“If no one authorized it, can the minister advise what formal action will be taken to address this serious misrepresentation of authority? Canadians deserve to know,” Kwan said.

Diab responded by reading nearly verbatim a statement IRCC sent to Global News earlier this week — a message that has evolved in real time — that did not comment on Kneecap’s specific case.

“Persons seeking to come to Canada must meet eligibility and admissibility requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act,” Diab said.

“Each case is assessed individually. Entry to Canada may be refused for a number of reasons. Individuals whose electronic travel application has been declined can re-apply by doing an ETA once they address the reasons that it has been refused.”

Should a probe ask whether MP ‘lied?’

Kwan’s letter adds to the pressure on the Liberal government to explain why no further explanation or official notice has been provided to the band or the public since.

Conservative Deputy Leader Melissa Lantsman told Global News in an interview Wednesday she would support an investigation into whether Gasparro “lied” in announcing the apparent entry ban or if he contradicted official policy.

“I would suspect that in any other workplace you would be reprimanded for that. And in this case, you wouldn’t be a parliamentary secretary anymore,” she said.

A spokesperson for Gasparro’s office said he had “no further comment” in an email Wednesday and deferred questions to IRCC, after making a similar comment last Friday.

Diab did not stop to answer questions from reporters on Kneecap’s case while heading into the Liberal caucus meeting in Ottawa on Wednesday.

Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree’s office has also deferred questions to IRCC, and the Prime Minister’s Office has not responded to requests for comment.

In his video announcement on Sept. 19, Gasparro cited a U.K. terrorism-related charge against Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh as a reason for denying entry to Canada. A British judge tossed out the criminal case last Friday, but no one in the government has said if the apparent entry ban remains in place.

Story continues below advertisement

The charge, which was dismissed after a British court said it had been laid too late, came after authorities had alleged Óg Ó hAnnaidh waved a flag of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah during a London concert last year.

Hezbollah is a listed terrorist organization in both the U.K. and Canada.

Kneecap has accused critics of trying to silence the band because of its support for the Palestinian cause throughout the Israeli military’s destruction of Gaza. The band says it doesn’t support Hezbollah and Hamas, nor condone violence.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs and Jewish advocacy organization B’nai Brith Canada, which had advocated for the ban, have praised the government for Gasparro’s announcement.

Globle answer today – here’s the answer and hints for August 30

Looking for a variant of the popular Wordle game? Here’s one for you that can be rather challenging: Globle. Like Wordle, players are tasked with guessing the game’s selected country for the day.

However, unlike Wordle, players have unlimited guesses for Globle so you won’t have to worry about losing unless you’re ready to concede defeat. Even for geography aficionados, guessing the Globle answer each day can be a real challenge. To help you out, we’ve included some hints in this page to help steer towards the right answer. If you’d rather just know the answer to keep your streak going, we have that too.

What’re you waiting for? Let’s get guessing!

How to play Globle

To play Globle, you’re first going to have to access the game’s website. To start playing, simply enter in the name of any country of your choice. You’ll then get a colour match for that country indicating how close to or far away you are from the answer.

The deeper the colour, the closer you are. After a couple of guesses you will slowly be able to narrow down the answer. A good tip is to pick larger countries that share borders with other countries. You can clear large sections of the map this way. Early on, you might also want to try varying your guesses between countries in different continents to narrow down your options.

Wordle may be several years old, but the wildly popular word game has managed to keep players hooked on their phone screens since 2021.

It’s for good reason that the game’s popularity hasn’t dwindled: it’s free to play and boasts a simple concept for a fun and engaging puzzle game that doesn’t take too much time. To play, you’re given six tries to work out each day’s answer, with each try providing another hint until you solve (or guess) your way into getting the right answer.

Even if you’ve been playing daily since launch, Wordle stumps the best of us every so often. Some answers are easier than others, and some might even be words you might not have ever heard of (cough, cough… WOOER).

But we’re here to assure you that there’s no shame in needing a little hint every now and then. Don’t worry, we’ll try to give you clues without giving away too much of the answer.

Here’s the Wordle answer for today:

Similar games to Wordle

If you find yourself struggling to land each answer every day, good news: there’s plenty of other similar games that can test your knowledge in other areas. The success of Wordle has meant that everyone has tried their hand at making similar games – even Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo chipped in to launch Weezle, which predictably tasks players with working out a lyric from the band’s songs each day.

If Weezer‘s not the band for you, there’s always Taylordle – which is the same game, except with Taylor Swift lyrics.

Beyond that, there’s also a battle royale, a dungeon crawler, and one that tests your knowledge of geography – so there’s plenty to choose from at the moment. There’s even a NSFW version for adults-only!

Wordle is available for free on PC and mobile.
