‘Peacemaker’ Episode 6 Delivers ‘Superman’ Cameo, Confirms Fan Theory About Alternate Dimension

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 6, “Ignorance Is Chris.”]

Peacemaker Season 2 delivered its biggest cameo yet as Episode 6, “Ignorance Is Chris,” made way for the inclusion of a major Superman character.

As fans have seen this season, quite a few characters from the blockbuster film cameo onscreen in Peacemaker, which creator James Gunn told TV Insider, “It is a continuation of Superman, but it’s also for adults.” A retcon moment from Season 1’s finale replaced the former Snyderverse Justice League with Gunn’s Justice Gang, which included Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi) alongside new Superman, David Corenswet, and Supergirl, Milly Alcock.

And both Green Lantern and Hawk Girl appeared alongside billionaire funder Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn) in Peacemaker‘s Season 2 premiere as Peacemaker (John Cena) auditioned for the Justice Gang. But Episode 6 made way for the most major and secretive of cameos with Nicholas Hoult as Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) paid a visit to the villainous Lex Luthor at Belle Reve Prison.

In the scene, Rick asked Lex for his help to track down Peacemaker and explained the concerns around dimensional rifts. Lex was rather sarcastic in his reception of the general as he greeted him, “General Flag, what an unexpected delight. Last time I saw you, you were denying that metahumans were a threat. And now it seems they’re taking over the world.”

HBO Max

As fans may recall, a lot of Lex’s actions in Superman revolved around outlawing metahuman activity and othering them in society, due in part because of his hatred towards his least favorite metahuman, Superman. According to Lex’s words, he’d been sentenced to 265 years in prison, and Rick offered to have him transferred somewhere without metahumans if he assisted in locating Peacemaker.

“Being goofy is no threat,” Lex argued when he learned that Peacemaker was merely a human vigilante without advanced abilities. But Rick pushed for the information and offered a mutually beneficial prospect, as he described this assistance as “an opportunity for redemption.”

Ultimately, Lex cooperated offscreen, but when Rick returned to the waiting area of the prison, he revealed to Sasha (Sol Rodriguez) that they’re now working with Lex Luthor. What that entails is for viewers to uncover as Season 2 continues to unfold.

In the meantime, the fan theory that Peacemaker’s alternate dimension was an all-white world devoid of diversity was proven accurate in Episode 6’s final moments as Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) tried to take a walk around the neighborhood after she and Economos (Steve Agee) cleaned up around Peacemaker’s home. The last minutes of the episode saw her surrounded by various neighbors as they ran toward her, and she, in turn, ran for her life.

At A.R.G.U.S., Peacemaker, and the regular dimension’s Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) uncovered the truth about the world as the American flag on someone’s desk unfurled, revealing a swastika instead of stars. What will happen next? Tune in next week to find out, and let us know what you thought of these shocking reveals in the comments section.

Stars Explain Episode 5’s Alternate Dimension Cliffhanger and Tease What’s Next (Exclusive)

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 4, “Back to Suture.”]

Peacemaker‘s latest episode, “Back to the Suture,” saw Chris Smith (John Cena) risk his safety to find out if he stood a chance with crush Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), only to turn his back on the world he was born into for the alternate dimension his doppelganger came from.

As the duo met in a park, after Harcourt warned him to stay away, he urged her to let him know if anything that transpired between them meant anything to her, but carefully placed A.R.G.U.S. team members circled in and forced Harcourt to take Chris down with some carefully thrown punches. When he was taken into custody, Chris faced the backlash of Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), who wanted revenge for his son, Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman), who was killed by Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad.

When Chris’s friends realized he was in danger, Economos (Steve Agee) booked him into the system, which forced Rick to stop the beating he had begun. Helped out to the car driven by Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) and Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Chris retreated to his family cabin in the woods, where he made the bold decision to leave behind his life in his original world to opt for a new life in the world formerly inhabited by the other Peacemaker, killed in Episode 1 of this season.

HBO Max

As the 11th Street Kids convened, Harcourt and Economos were clued into Chris’s bold decision, determined to go after their friend by reopening the interdimensional portal he had closed behind himself. Little do they realize that Rip Jagger, a.k.a. Judo Master (Nhut Le), also followed Peacemaker into the dimensional rift.

So, what happens next? We caught up with the stars who had some interesting insights. “Those last three episodes… it really builds up a lot,” teases Stroma. “Everyone’s in store for some pretty great stuff there. I don’t want to say anything to spoil that,” he says before adding, “Yeah, it’s fun.”

As for whether the other characters might meet different versions of themselves, Brooks says, “I’m always into different universes and seeing where your life goes if you went past the door, but the way that James [Gunn] has written it is really incredible, like people getting to meet themselves…  Unfortunately, I have a lot of FOMO,” Brooks adds, noting, “I did not get to meet myself, but that’s OK.”

In other words, there could be more doppelganger run-ins, but do her words confirm a long-running theory about the universe Chris has since dedicated himself to without further research? Some fans have pointed out that there’s a notable lack of diversity in the alternate dimension Peacemaker has visited, and if there’s no doppelganger for Adebayo, perhaps there aren’t for other people of color…

It’s certainly something to ponder, and would be a fun twist if the theory comes to pass. Only time will tell, though, as we look ahead to the final episodes of Peacemaker Season 2. See what else Stroma, Brooks, Holland, Rodriguez, Agee, and Grillo, and Gunn had to say about Episode 5, and what’s to come next in the full video above, and let us know your theories in the comments section.

Sabrina Carpenter Shares New Alternate Ending for ‘Tears’ Video

Sabrina Carpenter is rewriting the chilling ending to her Rocky Horror-inspired “Tears” music video.

On Friday (Aug. 29), the 26-year-old pop star released the original version of her haunting “Tears” video, coinciding with the drop of her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend.

The nearly five-minute clip follows Carpenter as she recovers from a car accident that appears to have killed her traveling companion. Alone and disoriented, she stumbles upon a creepy, isolated house. Inside, she discovers a world of sex and hedonism, evoking the cult classic horror musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The video culminates with Carpenter ending the life of her presumed-dead lover.

“Wait, no, you died earlier, I thought? It’s a thing, someone has to die every video,” she says, as she throws a stiletto into his chest. “I’m sorry. We’ll always remember you, though.”

On Monday (Sept. 1), Carpenter teased “a new ending” to the “Tears” video on her Instagram Story, sharing a link to the clip on YouTube. In this alternate conclusion, her traveling partner meets yet another grisly fate.

After Carpenter is ejected from the eerie house, she looks up to see the man emerging from the woods. “Babe, I’m so glad you’re okay,” he says, limping and coughing. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.” Suddenly, lightning strikes as he jitters with sparks and nervous laughter. Carpenter warns him to move aside as a cracking sound approaches. Before he can react, a tree crashes down on him. “I told him to move over,” she says, standing and grabbing her hat.

The video also features Academy Award-nominated actor Coleman Domingo in drag and accompanies Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter’s Jack Antonoff-produced follow-up to 2024’s Short n’ Sweet, which spent four weeks atop the Billboard 200.

“We haven’t been told the truth!” Vertical debuted the official trailer for an indie film titled Motherland, from filmmaker Evan Matthews making his feature directorial debut. After premiering at a few small film fests earlier this year, te thriller will be out to watch on VOD in September. The vague synopsis explains: set in an alternate present society where the state frees all parents from the burden of raising children, a “rule enforcer” learns a shocking truth that sparks her rebellion. “Freedom from all, for all…” Obviously there’s more going on in this bleak dystopian society than mothers being free. Starring Tony award-winning actress Miriam Silverman as Cora, Holland Taylor, Néstor Carbonell, and introducing Emily Arancio as Zinnia. It’s hard to tell from this trailer what the point of this film is or what it’s message ultimately is. The world building is so vague and they don’t reveal anything… What is it trying to say about our “Motherland”?

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Evan Matthews’ film Motherland, direct from YouTube:

In an alternate present society where the state frees parents from the burden of raising children, a rule enforcer (Miriam Silverman) learns a shocking truth that sparks her rebellion. “Evan’s world-building is as impressive in its attention to detail as it is disheartening in its plausibility. The excellent performances from the entire cast elevate the dystopian thriller narrative.” Motherland is directed by the American indie filmmaker Evan Matthews, making his feature directorial debut after many other short films previously. The screenplay is written by Nicole Roewe. Produced by Tony Glazer, Lana Link, Summer Crockett Moore, Rob Pfaltzgraff. This premiered at the 2025 Omaha Film Festival earlier this year. Vertical debuts Matthews’ film Motherland in select US theaters + on VOD starting September 12th, 2025 coming soon. Interested?
