Alex Warren is hitting the road on his first arena tour in the United States and Canada — with Jennifer Aniston’s approval. Aniston portrays a judge in a comedic sketch promoting Warren’s upcoming concert trek, the Little Orphan Alex Live Tour.

Warren — who just received a Grammy nomination for best new artist — appears in court in a short video premiering alongside an announcement of new tour dates on Friday (Nov. 14); his co-stars include Aniston, Max Greenfield and a child acting as a particularly entitled version of little orphan Annie. The clip is a continuation of a bit he started when announcing the European leg of the tour.

“You are here today because little orphan Annie is suing you, preventing your U.S. tour from happening,” Judge Aniston says to Warren in the scene’s opening, which then has a young redhead going by “Annie” accusing “that little b—-” (Warren) of “stealing my whole brand.”

“I can’t control the fact that both my parents are dead,” Warren says.

Not to worry — the tour will go on! Parodying a dramatic twist, Greenfield strolls in to reveal some pertinent information that’s in favor of Warren’s defense.

“MY FIRST ARENA TOUR!!! presale wednesday and general sale next friday at 10am… see you soon,” Warren wrote in an Instagram post that features the promo clip.

Warren’s 2026 tour begins at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on May 25 and runs through July 15, when he’ll take the stage at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Ticket presales for Verizon customers and for Citi cardmembers both launch at 10 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Nov. 18 for select shows. For the Verizon presale, more information is available in the MyAccess section of the My Verizon app, or can be found here. For details on the Citi presale, visit the Citi Entertainment website here. (Citi is the official card of the Alex Warren Presents: Little Orphan Alex Live Tour.)

There will be an artist presale on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Fans should register in advance here for access to this presale, and set an alert for 10 a.m. local time to get tickets. VIP packages will be available at this time.

In partnership with PLUS1, Warren is giving $1 from every ticket sold to Camp Kesem, which provides free camp and programs to children whose parents are fighting cancer.

Warren’s debut album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid, reached No. 5 and charted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 for 13 nonconsecutive weeks this year. The set features his Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Ordinary,” plus his singles “Eternity,” “Bloodline” featuring Jelly Roll, “On My Mind” featuring Rosé and “Burning Down” with Joe Jonas.

More information on purchasing tickets can be found on Warren’s official website.

In Your Dreams: Director Alex Woo Interview

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

“In Your Dreams,” a new animated feature from Netflix, is a colorful movie filled with imaginative sights: a world of living breakfast food, a flying bed, a gigantic sand castle in which the legendary Sandman resides. But like the best children’s movies, the actual story is grounded in Earth: The main characters, Stevie (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and Elliot (Elias Janssen) are ordinary suburban children whose parents (Simu Liu and Cristin Milioti) are dealing with financial trouble that’s straining their marriage. When their mother leaves on a trip, the worried elder child Stevie stumbles upon a book that allows her and her brother to enter a dream world, and embarks on a quest to find the Sandman in a desperate attempt to find a wish that can save her parent’s marriage.

The film is the feature length debut of director Alex Woo, who previously got his start working in the art department and as a storyboard artist for Pixar and Lucasfilm. In 2016, he left Pixar to co-found his own company Kuku Studios, which premiered its first project, Emmy-winning children’s show “Go! Go! Cory Carson” in 2020. Around that time, Woo began work on his idea for an animated film tackling the world of dreams, which he thought was relatively under-explored in the world of animation. To find an emotional core to film, he drew inspiration from his own life, and a time in his childhood where his parents were briefly separated, to inform the storyline.

“The challenge with dreams is that anything can happen, right? How do you ground it with a real world emotional story?,” Woo said in an interview with IndieWire. “And that’s when I told [the team] this story about my mom leaving for a little while, and how devastating that was to me, and how the only thing I wanted in the whole world was for my family to stick together. And that felt like such a grounded, emotional and rootable want for a character and so that, like, the marriage of those two pieces, the package of, like, fantastical dream world and a really grounded story for a character, is what gave birth to ‘In Your Dreams.’”

Ahead of the release of the film, IndieWire spoke to Woo about leaving Pixar for his own studio, the inspirations behind “In Your Dreams,” and his hopes for making a Netflix movie in the wake of the “KPop Demon Hunters” phenomenon.

The following interview was edited and condensed for length and clarity.

IndieWire: “In Your Dreams” is your first feature film. What were the challenges that came from the experience? How do you feel now that it’s coming out?

Alex Woo: The amount of work, I was not prepared for that. I mean, I was happy to do it, but I’ve worked on a lot of features, but never in the seat of the director, and so I have so much more respect for anybody who’s finished a film, because it’s just so much work. There’s just so much on your shoulders, and so many questions that have to be answered, and sometimes you don’t know the answers, and you have to figure out how to find the answers in a timely manner, because the clock is ticking and money’s burning and you’re on a schedule.

You started out at Pixar. What lessons from your work there did you bring to this project?

At Pixar, I was really fortunate to work with Brad Bird and Andrew Stanton and John Lasseter. And what I really took away from them was how every single decision you make has to be rooted in the narrative and the needs of the story of the film. That was something that I had always sort of heard in passing, but to see them do it day in and day out, at every single level, was a tremendous education. It really drilled that philosophy home for me, and I’ve started trying to bring that to every single project that I’ve worked on ever since.

Why did you want to leave Pixar to found your own studio?

I was at Pixar for about 10 years. The first half of my career was, I would say, some of the best creative experiences I’ve had in my life. I got to work on “Ratatouille” and “Wall-E,” which are, I think, some of their best films. The second half of my career there was less inspiring because I worked on a lot of sequels. I worked on “Cars 2,” “Finding Dory” and “Incredibles 2,” and some of those movies are good, but they didn’t have the spark the earlier films that I worked on had. I wanted to do original stories, and I wanted to tell stories that had that sort of creative spark that I felt when I first got to Pixar.

IN YOUR DREAMS - In Your Dreams is a comedy adventure about Stevie (12) and her little brother Elliot (8) who journey into the absurd landscape of their own dreams. If the siblings can withstand a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods, and the queen of nightmares, the Sandman will grant them their ultimate dream come true... the perfect family. What were some of your influences while making the movie? It feels like it draws from ’80s kids fantasies films, like “The NeverEnding Story” or “Labyrinth.”

I’m so transparent. Those are some of the movies that I grew up with, and they had such a profound effect on me, and they worked their way into my creative DNA. So, my taste has been really shaped by those films. And naturally it just comes out in my work. I think there’s something about those ’80s movies. There was some magic to those films. You got the sense that magic was possible, that it was real. And I wanted to try and capture that feeling in our movie.

What was your vision for the animation style of the film and how you wanted the dream world to depart from the film’s real world?

Right now, in animation, especially, there’s a lot of experimentation with stylization, right? Because it feels like CG reached its logical conclusion in that you can kind of do anything in CG, in terms of the realistic fidelity of an image. And so there’s been a lot of experimentation in such a great way, like “Spider-Verse” looks fantastic, and they’ve really led the charge on that front. There’s a lot of sort of pressure to figure out what your style is and how you’re departing from traditional CG animation. But I didn’t want to take that approach. I didn’t want impose a style and bring a style to the film. Again, what I learned at Pixar is the story has got to drive every decision. So I wanted the needs of the story to drive what the stylization was.

Our film, because the film takes place in both the real world and the dream world, I knew I needed to have sort of a design aesthetic that would allow me to push the dream world design in a certain way. If our real world design was too stylized, there would be nowhere to go with the dream world. So that meant the real world had to be really kind of grounded in its aesthetic, which is how we landed on the design that we currently have. But then when you get to the dream world, we have the license to really push the design. Our film sort of allowed us to get the best of both worlds. You get this some stylization, you get these anime versions of Stevie and Elliot. But in order for that to mean something, you had to contrast it with something that was grounded.

A large portion of this movie was shot during COVID. What were the challenges of that, both practically and psychologically?

I was working for 18 months on a midnight shift, so I worked every night from midnight to 10 am, and it was gnarly. I think I lost, you know, five years of my life doing that. So that was a huge challenge. Psychologically, I mean, it’s just hard to be isolated from your crew. I think so much great art comes from collaboration, and great collaboration is much more effective in person, because there are so many nonverbal cues that you can communicate with.

When you’re on Zoom, there are not very many nonverbal cues that you can use to communicate your ideas. That’s really what directing is about, trying to communicate a vision that you have in your mind to your team. There are so many different ways you can do that. You can do that verbally, which is sort of the most obvious form, but then there’s gesturing and acting things out through movement, and that’s really hard to communicate when you’re not in the same room with each other. Not being in person, I felt like the chemistry of the team wasn’t as strong as I would like it to have been.

‘In Your Dreams’NETFLIX

How do you feel about “In Your Dreams” being a Netflix release and the fact that most people will see it on their TV instead of in theaters? We did see recently with “KPOP Demon Hunters” that a streaming release can still become a major phenomenon.

As a filmmaker, obviously you love the big screen, right? Who wouldn’t? And we definitely made it with that in mind. So the scope of the filmmaking, the attention to detail, it was made and can hold up on the big screen. But I think consumption patterns have changed, and you have to go where the audience is. And so the other thing that Netflix has, the audience, the subscriber base, is so huge. Just at a push of a button, you can access this entire giant worldwide audience. So that’s very exciting for a filmmaker to be able to have that kind of exposure.

“In Your Dreams” releases in theaters on Friday, November 7 and will start streaming on Netflix on Friday, November 14.

Alex Lutz Talks ‘Connemara’ With Mélanie Thierry

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor and director Alex Lutz touches down in L.A. this weekend for the Northern American Premiere of romantic drama Connemara at The American French Film Festival (TAFFF) on Saturday evening, after which he will participate in an onstage conversation.

The work, which world premiered in Cannes in May, is the fourth solo feature in the director’s seat for Lutz, who has more than 60 film and TV acting credits under his belt, with roles including Pierre Bergé in the Hulu series Becoming Karl Lagerfeld and his César-winning performance as jaded pop star in Guy, which he also directed.

In Connemara, Mélanie Thierry (The Zero Theorem, Da 5 Bloods) stars as burned-out executive Hélène who returns to her nondescript childhood hometown in France’s north-eastern Vosges region to reset, where she reconnects with childhood friend Christophe, played by Bastien Bouillon.

The former local ice hockey champion never left the town and is now a single father living in straitened circumstances as he juggles looking after his son and elderly father.

Lutz has adapted the feature from the 2022 eponymous novel by Nicolas Mathieu, whose And Their Children After Them was also adapted to the big screen by directorial duo Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma in 2024.

“I’d done a romance before, Strangers by Night, with Karine Viard but there was something in this story, which was more sombre than a classic romance,” says Lutz.

“There were also a number of themes that interested me enormously such as the passing of time and the question of what it means to stay or leave when you come from a smalltown, and what it’s like to return to a smalltown in the provinces, having left and built a career in a big city.”

“This is the case of Hélène, who was that girl next door, who studied like crazy to achieve professional success, with a life in Paris, two kids and an apartment that looks like something out of Elle magazine… but then she hits her 40s and suffers a real burnout.”

Lutz was also drawn to the setting of the film, a peri-urban hinterland, which is neither the town nor countryside.

“There are places like this all over Europe on the outskirts of towns, which are a mix of small houses with commercial zones… everything looks very convenient but there’s also social violence underneath.”

Lutz co-wrote the screenplay with Amélia Guyader and Hadrien Bichet, who was his first assistant director on Strangers by Night, over three stages.

“I started off on my own and was joined very quickly by Amélia. She did a lot of work with me, analyzing the novel. We really dissected the novel,” recounts Lutz.

“We built the screenplay as if we were trying to create a skeleton from the novel, stripping away the layers. When I had a version, I was happy with, I spent some time alone with it again.”

“In the final stretch, on the last drafts of the script, I worked with my wonderful artistic collaborator, Hadrien Bichet… He’s also a screenwriter, and director too, so it was a real joy to have this final, collaborative writing process.”

On the casting of the film, Lutz says he had been tracking the work of Bouillon since around 2022, when his career started to really take off with his role in Dominik Moll’s The Night Of The 12th, which played in the Cannes Premiere section in 2022, the same year Guy world premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week.

“And I’ve always liked Mélanie, so they’re people I’ve been following for a few years now, although I wasn’t set on them initially. I had lots of ideas,” says Lutz.

“I first offered the role to Bastien… I didn’t want to fall into the trap of showing an athletic guy, who is a bit overweight, suffering inside. I felt the character needed a sort of energy, and how do I say this, something almost feminine, with elegance.

“Bastien offered all of these elements… he also has this ability to completely light up the screen, at the same time as being completely down to earth.”

Lutz discussed the role of Hélène with a number of actresses but was impressed with how the character resonated with Thierry, while she also offered an element of grit that he was looking for.

“I didn’t want a female character in the vein of a Jane Austen heroine. I wanted there to be anger, hardness, and to show the challenges facing a woman in a high-profile job, while managing her family, who allows herself, as she says, to let her hair down for once.”

Connemara is the first feature directed by Lutz in which he does not also co-star, but the actor-director points to his long-running and ongoing work in the theater, where he got his first big breaks as an actor and then director in the 1990s, creating his own company Le Coût de la pomme in 1996.

“I’ve directed a lot of theater without being in the cast, so it’s not something new to me,” he says.

He adds it is impossible for him to say whether he prefers acting over directing but admits his sweet spot is mixing the two

“It can be complicated but I love directing at the same time as playing in films.”

Diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, Lutz reveals his biggest challenge remains writing, even if he loves to write.

“I always have this feeling of having to get my homework in… even if I’ve written books, plays and films, this feeling never goes away, while acting and directing actors, that’s something else entirely, I think because it’s not connected to my chaotic scholastic path,” he explains.

Alongside, acting and directing, Lutz has recently added another string to his bow, with the creation of production company Grands Ducs Films with Bichet and Thomas Santucci, in partnership with Studiocanal.

Projects in the early stages of development include a TV drama series in which two characters, with nothing in common, find themselves forced to spend time together.

“It could be because a plane doesn’t take off, or another unexpected circumstances… and it may be tied to a certain location like an airport… we’re thinking about it now,” he says.

In the meantime, Lutz will next be seen on the big screen in Isabelle Carré’s Les Reveurs, about a woman who overcomes mental health issues through theatre, which hits French cinemas on November 12.

Alex Vesia is a family man first. While the MLB player is known for being a Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, he prioritizes his life with his wife, Kayla, above his career. The couple have been together since 2019, and they’ve shared their milestones with social media followers, including Kayla’s pregnancy journey. As fans grapple with the news of Alex’s absence from the 2025 World Series, many have asked if the couple already have children.

Below, learn more about Alex’s family and his life with Kayla.

How Did Alex Vesia & His Wife Meet?

In a January 2023 TikTok post, Kayla said that she and Alex first met at a dessert shop years prior and talked for “hours.” At some point down the road, the couple made their relationship official and celebrated their third anniversary together in April 2022, as seen in an Instagram post on Alex’s account.

That November, Alex proposed to Kayla.

When Did Alex Vesia & Kayla Get Married?

Alex and Kayla got married in January 2024. Calling it the “best day of [their] lives” in an Instagram post, the then-newlyweds thanked their guests for attending.

“We couldn’t have planned for a better day it was everything we dreamed of and more,” Alex and Kayla wrote in a joint Instagram post. “Very thankful for everyone who traveled and made time to celebrate us! LOVE YA’LL -The Vesias.”

Does Alex Vesia Have Children?

No, Alex does not have any children, but he and Kayla announced they were expecting their first baby together in 2025. Up until mid-October 2025, Kayla had been sharing Instagram photos of her growing baby bump and her supporting Alex as he and the Dodgers moved onto the World Series.

However, Alex went on hiatus right before the World Series began. The Dodgers wrote in a public statement, “It is with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, navigate a deeply personal family matter. The Dodgers’ manager, Dave Roberts, told reporters that the team was “anticipating” Alex being off the roster for the World Series “unless something unforeseen happens.”

“I think we exhausted a couple different options, but just considering obviously what he’s going through and baseball’s certainly on the backburner, so I just think that’s the right process that we as an organization [thought] was probably the best way to handle it,” Dave said, according to Dodgers Nation. “And to be quite honest, I don’t know a lot of what went into it.”

Yankees Alum Brett Gardner’s Son Miller Has Preliminary Cause of Death Revealed

The Los Angeles Dodgers are missing a teammate.

The day before the MLB team is set to return to the 2025 World Series to face off against the Toronto Blue Jays, they announced that their pitcher Alex Vesia is currently absent due to a private matter with his pregnant wife Kayla Vesia.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the organization wrote in a statement shared to Instagram Oct. 23. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”

No further details about Alex’s absence were provided, and neither he nor his wife—who announced in April they were expecting a baby—have provided any updates of their own.

Amid the hiatus of one of their star pitchers, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts detailed how the team is attempting to pivot, given the fact that the team must submit a World Series roster by 10 a.m. ET on the day of the first game, per ESPN.
