Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr’s beloved comedy air date confirmed

If you’re missing Alan Carr after his astonishing run on Celebrity Traitors, don’t despair: the comedian’s hit ITV sitcom is returning to screens later this month for its third season.

Changing Ends is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age series, which sees Carr dramatise his childhood, growing up as the son of a football manager and not quite understanding what made him different to the other boys at his school.

Child actor Oliver Savell plays a young Alan Carr, while the comedian himself features as a narrator, appearing on-screen to offer context and reflections on the show’s storylines.

Changing Ends has earned a generally positive reception from critics and viewers alike, becoming ITVX’s most-viewed comedy in 2023, with Savell subsequently earning a BAFTA nomination for his uncanny turn as Carr.

The next chapter in the sitcom is available to stream from the morning of Sunday 23rd November 2025 on ITVX, with a linear broadcast to follow at 10:05pm that night on ITV1 – just after I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

It’s an enviable lead-in for the series, which ITV will be hoping receives a Celebrity Traitors bump after Carr emerged as the breakout star of the recent season, with many viewers declaring him a “national treasure” for his masterful hoodwinking.

Carr himself acknowledged on Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked that the reaction to his participation has been more intense than his earlier television work, with industry pundits predicting high-profile follow-up gigs in the comic’s future.

For now, though, it’s a return to the comfortingly familiar ground of Changing Ends. The synopsis for season 3, courtesy of ITV teases a crush for the teenaged Carr on a new character named Jake.

It asks: “Does love struck Alan suppress this crush or shout about it from the rooftops?”

“Whatever happens, it’s going to be tough as Alan has the thankless task of navigating the adolescent minefields that are sleepovers, swimming lessons and nights out with the boys – and the girls.

“But it’s not all doom and gloom as some unexpected allies give Alan a much-needed glimpse of a hopeful future and they’re not a million miles away from his own doorstep.”

Changing Ends seasons 1-2 are available on ITVX. Season 3 premieres on ITV1 at 10:05pm on Sunday 23rd November 2025.

Alan Partridge writers on “awful” Katherine Kelly role in How Are You?

For Alan, life is something of a mixed bag at the moment, having lost his cushty BBC presenting gig (see This Time), but finding companionship with new girlfriend Katrina (Kelly).

Speaking at the press launch of the series, How Are You? co-writer Neil Gibbons explained that the team has moved on from the era of Alan as a “kicked puppy”, as seen in the travel tavern days of I’m Alan Partridge.

But they’ve found a “new flavour” of torment for the character from Katrina.

“On the face of it, he sort of has everything. He’s got quite a good house, he’s got quite a good car. He’s getting a lot of low-level, but quite lucrative work,” continued Neil, who co-writes with brother Rob Gibbons and Coogan himself.

Steve Coogan plays Alan Partridge in How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge) BBC / Baby Cow / Ollie Upton

“And he’s got a girlfriend who’s younger than him, who’s beautiful, who’s quite a figure in the community. But [she’s] just an awful, awful woman. And as the series goes on, you do see Alan struggling with what – on paper – is clearly a good deal for him souring quite badly.”

Coogan added that they were looking to create a female character who would be able to easily deflect Alan’s misogynistic tendencies and challenge him in ways neither Lynn (Felicity Montagu) nor ex-girlfriend Sonja (Amelia Bullmore) ever could.

“Alan bullies Lynn quite a bit, although Lynn does actually get the better of Alan sometimes,” explained Coogan. “But we wanted someone who would have Alan on the back foot in a way he’s not with Lynn.

“We wanted someone who ‘wore the trousers’ and who he was obviously attracted to, but she was mercurial to him [and] he couldn’t quite understand who she was.”

Coogan went on to praise his modern Partridge collaborators, Neil and Rob Gibbons, for their work transforming Alan from a fairly broad comedy character to a more “three-dimensional” figure.

“Rob and Neil are really, totally comfortable with poignancy or pathos,” he concluded.

“Alan evolved under their stewardship to be more three-dimensional. So sometimes you can actually feel sorry for Alan, feel compassion for him and that is a much more humane execution of the character. That’s given it longevity.”

How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge) premieres on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday 3rd October 2025.

New Alan Partridge series ‘How Are You?’ launch date revealed with trailer and spoof crowdfunder plea

The release date for the new Alan Partridge series, How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge), has been confirmed.

The show will see Steve Coogan return as the iconic comedy character as he hosts six episodes that will explore the subject of mental health. After a year living in Saudi Arabia, Partridge has returned to Britain and the show will see him “ask some important questions”.

The series will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9:30pm on Friday 3 October, and all six episodes will be available to watch online from that day.

It was originally announced in 2024 under the title And Did Those Feet… With Alan Partridge, and a synopsis explains: “We follow the beloved and, to be fair, revered broadcaster Alan Partridge as he reintegrates into life in Britain after a year working in Saudi Arabia.”

“But what begins as a documentary about homecoming soon morphs into something more personal as Alan realises that the happiness he thought he’d feel at being back in Norwich just hasn’t materialised. Something’s missing.”

“It’s a journey through the mental health of himself and the country he loves (the UK including Northern Ireland) to ask: are we mentally unwell, mentally challenged, sad, cross, disturbed or just plain fed up?”

Partridge himself has given fans an insight into how the show came about: “The kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoys extensive oil and natural gas reserves, but has also seen economic growth in other areas such as agricultural production, retail trade, construction, and transport,” he said. “It directs some $69 billion to military expenditure each year. And yet despite all that, I somehow felt incomplete.”

Ahead of the show’s launch, the BBC have also shared a spoof crowdfunder appeal from Partridge, in which he offers a range of services for fans, including a birthday voicemail for £50 and a dinner at a restaurant of your choosing for £400 (or at one of Alan’s choosing for £200). Watch above.

The inept, awkward broadcaster first appeared in 1991 on the radio show On The Hour, before transitioning to television when he hosted the fictional chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You from 1994-95, followed by the sitcom I’m Alan Partridge from 1997 to 2002. The character has been revived on various platforms including YouTube, podcasts, books, and the 2013 feature film Alpha Papa.

Last year, Coogan said he would like to do more live shows as the character, saying “I’d like to do some other stuff first and I’ll go back to him”. One of those other projects will be a film about footballer Roy Keane, titled Saipan.

Alan Ritchson Stars, Jack White Was Musical Director

Jack White has revealed the trailer for Potsy Ponciroli’s nearly silent action film, Motor City, for which the Detroit rocker served as musical director. Watch it below.

Led by Reacher’s Alan Ritchson, Motor City is set in 1970s Detroit and only features four or five lines of dialogue, depending on whether you go by Ponciroli or co-star Ben Foster’s count. The trailer, soundtracked by Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” shows Ritchson’s John Miller being arrested after being set up by local gangster Reynolds (Foster).

“A working class romantic is framed by a ruthless gangster after falling for his girlfriend,” reads the official synopsis. “After years in prison, he returns with only one mission: revenge.”

Directed by Ponciroli from a script by Chad St. John, Motor City also stars Shailene Woodley as Sophia, who is caught in a love triangle between Miller and Reynolds. The cast is rounded out by Pablo Schreiber, Ben McKenzie, Lionel Boyce, Amar Chadha-Patel, and more.

Motor City premiered at the Venice Film Festival this weekend, but it currently doesn’t have a theatrical release date.

In other Jack White news, he recently got the attention of the White House after blasting the “disgusting” Oval Office decorations. In response to being called a “has-been loser,” White hit back with a lengthy Instagram post, saying that Trump is “masquerading” as a Christian, a leader, and a businessman. He also went after “professional liar toadies” like White House communications director Steven Cheung and press secretary Karoline Leavitt, for “covering up and masking his fascism as patriotism.”
