‘Now You See Me 3’ Opening Day Ahead of ‘Running Man’

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

The “Now You See Me” franchise’s reappearing act is landing on the top of box office charts, debuting ahead of the weekend’s other new releases “The Running Man” and “Keeper.”

Lionsgate’s “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” heisted $8.4 million across Friday and preview screenings from 3,403 locations. The PG-13-rated threequel is looking at a three-day opening between $21 million and $24 million — about in line with pre-weekend projections and in the ballpark of the prior 2016 entry, which opened to $22 million.

Critics turned in mediocre marks for “Now You Don’t,” but it is the best-reviewed of the trilogy. Meanwhile, audiences lean positive at a “B+” grade from moviegoer pollster Cinema Score (though lower than the “A-” grades for both prior entries). Lionsgate shelled out north of $90 million to revive the franchise, which is directed by Ruben Fleischer and sees Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco return as a quartet of Robin Hood-like illusionists. Both prior entries scored a majority of their grosses overseas and, notably, Lionsgate typically sells off international rights to limit its financial exposure, at the cost of capping upside.

Meanwhile, Paramount’s “The Running Man” starring Glen Powell will have to vie for second place against the sophomore weekend of “Predator: Badlands” (funnily, another stab at resurrecting a property that was first introduced to moviegoers via an Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle in the ’80s.) The R-rated “Running Man” racked up $6.4 million across Friday and preview screenings from 3,534 locations. That puts the film on track to land behind projections for a debut north of $20 million, now forecast for the $17 million to $19 million range.

It’s an inauspicious kick-off for the Stephen King adaptation, which carries a hefty $110 million production budget co-financed by Domain Entertainment. Reviews have been lukewarm, though audiences are kinder at a B+ grade from Cinema Score. But with a crowded November slate ahead, including “Wicked: For Good” and “Zootopia 2,” “The Running Man” likely could’ve used some much stronger initial buzz to propel it through the coming weeks.

Also opening this weekend, Neon’s “Keeper,” the latest indie horror effort from writer-director Osgood Perkins, earned about $1 million from 1,950 locations across Friday and previews. It’s headed for a fifth-place debut. The opening doesn’t compare to the last two Perkins efforts — last year’s summer breakout “Longlegs” ($22 million) and this past spring’s “The Monkey” ($14 million). Reviews are worse than those last two movies too, and Cinema Score turned in a dismal “D+” grade.

Disney’s “Predator: Badlands” earned $3.5 million on its second Friday, down 68% from its opening day total a week ago. The science-fiction sequel’s domestic gross is now at $56 million and looks to go north of $66 million through Sunday. It’s gunning to pass “Alien vs. Predator,” which, though a crossover, is the biggest domestic box office hit ever for the franchise with $80.2 million in North America.

“Regretting You” will round out the top five, earning $1.2 million on Friday and projecting a 39% drop for a $4 million fourth weekend and another strong hold. Paramount’s release of the Colleen Hoover adaptation will hit a domestic total of $45 million through Sunday.

‘The Silent Run’ Debuts Trailer Ahead of Cairo Film Festival Screening

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

The trailer has debuted for Marta Bergman’s drama “L’enfant bélier” (The Silent Run) before it world premieres in International Competition at Cairo Film Festival.

The film centers on Sara and Adam who, with their two-year-old daughter, have entered Belgium illegally and are now trying to reach England. Crammed with other migrants in the back of a van, fear starts to overtake hope. Redouane, a police officer for 20 years, spends his nights chasing smugglers on Belgium’s busy motorway network. That night, as his team attempts to stop a van suspected of transporting migrants, everything changes.

The cast of the film, shot in French and Arabic, includes with Salim Kechiouche, Zbeida Belhajamor, Clara Toros and Abda Razak Alsweha.

The writers are Bergman, Camille Mol, Ely Chevillot and Sacha Ferbus.

The producers are Cassandre Warnauts and Jean-Yves Roubin for Frakas Productions, and Geneviève Lavoie and Richard Angers for Productions des Années Lumière.

International sales are being handled by B-Rated Intl. International distributors so far attached include Cineclub Internazionale (Italy), Destiny (France), O’Brother (Benelux) and Axia (Canada).

Born in Bucharest, Bergman first worked as a freelance journalist for print and television, before turning to documentary filmmaking. Her documentaires, which explore Romania and the Roma communities, include “Clejani Stories, Histoires, Povesti …,” “Happy Stay,” “One Day My Prince Will Come,” “Bucharest, Anonymous Faces,” and “The Ballad of the Snake, A Gypsy Story.”

In 2018, she directed her first fiction feature “Alone at My Wedding,” produced by Frakas Productions and shot between Belgium and Romania. It was selected at ACID in Cannes. “The Silent Run” is her second feature film.

Pope Leo XIV Reveals Favorite Movies Ahead of Vatican Event

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

If you were hoping Pope Leo XIV was partial to movies like The Conclave or The Exorcist, sorry to disappoint. Ahead of a Hollywood gathering at the Vatican, the pontiff has revealed his four favorite films, which are all, unsurprisingly, extremely safe.

In a video posted by Variety, the pope listed 1946’s It’s a Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart, 1965’s The Sound of Music featuring Julie Andrews, 1980’s Ordinary People starring Donald Sutherland and Mary Tyler Moore, and 1997’s Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è Bella) with Roberto Benigni.

Of those four films, three won Oscars, and the fourth was a nominee whose loss is considered one of the Academy’s worst snubs. The Sound of Music and Ordinary People each won Best Picture and Best Director, while Life Is Beautiful received an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Actor for Benigni. It’s a Wonderful Life was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, but lost that award to The Best Years of Our Lives in 1946.

Perhaps we’ll get a special Criterion Closet episode with deeper cuts next?

As reported by Variety, Pope Leo is set to host a Vatican event on Saturday, November 15th, which will be attended by Hollywood stars including Cate Blanchett, Chris Pine, Viggo Mortensen, Alison Brie, Dave Franco, and Monica Bellucci.

Filmmakers Spike Lee, Gus Van Sant, George Miller, and Giuseppe Tornatore are also expected to attend. The gathering was organized by the Vatican’s culture office as part of the Catholic Church’s Holy Year celebrations.

In a statement, the Vatican said the pope aims “to deepen dialogue with the World of Cinema” while “exploring the possibilities that artistic creativity offers to the mission of the Church and the promotion of human values.”

It’s a clear move to deepen ties with Hollywood compared to his predecessor. While the late Pope Francis hosted late night hosts Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Fallon in June 2024, Pope Leo seems to be intent on courting Hollywood A-list stars.

Pope Leo has been meeting with several movie stars as of late, including Al Pacino in June and Robert De Niro last week. Last month, he denounced clickbait during a private meeting with media members and urged companies to be proactive in addressing AI.

#PopeLeoXIV reveals his four favorite movies of all-time.

Meg edited Jack White’s speech ahead of The White Stripes’ Rock Hall induction

Meg White helped edit her ex-husband Jack’s speech ahead of The White Stripes‘ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last weekend.

Last weekend (November 8) saw the annual Rock Hall ceremony take place at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, with inductees including OutKast, Soundgarden, Cyndi Lauper, Chubby Checker, Bad Company, Joe Cocker and Jack and Meg White.

Meg wasn’t present at the ceremony, as she has stuck to keeping out of the spotlight since The White Stripes broke up in 2011. Instead, Jack accepted the honour on behalf of her, and revealed during his speech that he had spoken to Meg “the other day” ahead of the ceremony, when she helped him edit his speech.

While on the podium, Jack shared: “I spoke with Meg White the other day, and she said that she’s very sorry she couldn’t make it here tonight, but she wanted me to tell you that she’s very grateful. And to all of the folks who supported her in all the years, it really means a lot to her. She also helped me write all this… I sent these things to her. She checked it for me for a lot of punctuation and corrections. She’s pretty good at that.”

Later on in his speech, he thanked her for their time together – both as a band and as romantic partners – and rounded off his speech by reading out a story about the band that he had wanted to send to Meg, who was hearing it for the first time along with the audience.

“I was gonna send this to Meg, but I didn’t get around to it, so I thought I’d read it to you all tonight,” White began. “One time, a girl climbed a tree, and in that tree was a boy — her brother, she thought. And the tree looked so glorious and beautiful, but it was just an oak tree.

“And these two so loved the world that they brought forth a parade float – one they built in their garage behind the oak tree with their own bare hands. And the boy looked at this giant peppermint on wheels and felt pride – pride that it was produced in the Motor City, just like in the big factories – but it was just in their garage. He looked at the girl — his sister, he thought – and, like the Little Rascals, they said, ‘Let’s put on a show.’

“And they paraded this float through the Cass Corridor,” the White Stripes frontman continued, “standing atop the peppermint pulled by white horses – or maybe it was a red Econoline van. Many of the blocks they travelled were empty, but some had people. And some of those people cheered, some laughed, and some even threw stones. And with their bare hands, the two started to clap and sing and make up songs.

“And some people kept watching and swaying and moving. And then one person even smiled. The boy and the girl looked at each other, and they also smiled, and they felt — they both felt – the sin of pride. But they kept on smiling. Smiling from a new freedom, knowing that they had shared and made another person feel something.

“And they thought the person smiling at them was a stranger, someone they didn’t even know. But it wasn’t just a stranger. It was God.”

Olivia Rodrigo, Feist, and Twenty One Pilots also performed at the ceremony to honour The White Stripes. Rodrigo and Feist took on an acoustic duet of ‘We’re Going To Be Friends’ from 2001’s ‘White Blood Cells’, which was the song the White Stripes played in their final performance on Late Night With Conan O’Brien back in 2009.

Twenty One Pilots then covered ‘Seven Nation Army’, the track Rodrigo dubbed the “most iconic song of all time” in a video that preceded White’s speech. Both wearing fringed face masks, Pilots bassist and singer Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun switched to keys mid-song, earning a standing ovation from Flea.

Summer Walker Launched “Finally Over It” Dump Truck Service Ahead of New Album – Invites Fans to Literally Toss Their Ex’s Stuff

Summer Walker is taking the phrase “out with the old” to a whole new level.

The R&B star unveiled her “Finally Over It Dump Truck Service,” a playful and symbolic pop-up activation inspired by her upcoming album Finally Over It, set for release on November 14, 2025.

In collaboration with YouTube, Walker invited fans to gather at Morehouse College in Atlanta over the weekend to “finally get rid of your ex’s stuff.” The mint-green dump truck — branded with the album’s title — was open to Spelman and Clark Atlanta University students from noon to 2 p.m., with all gently used items donated afterward.

The stunt ties directly to Walker’s Finally Over It rollout — her third project in the “Over It” series, following 2019’s Over It and 2021’s Still Over It . The campaign doubles as a cathartic nod to the emotional cleansing themes behind her new music.

“Taking out the trash since 2017,” one of the event’s posters read — a cheeky reference that fans connected to Walker’s famously candid breakup anthems.

Varun Dhawan’s First Look From Border 2 Unveiled; Film To Release Ahead Of Republic Day 2026 | Glamsham.com

Border 2 is among the most awaited sequels of Indian cinema, and now it will hit the silver screens on January 23, 2026, during the Republic Day week. The movie has been in the news ever since it was announced- promising to be a stirring patriotic drama and a sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 classic titled Border.

On Wednesday, the makers shared a first look of Varun Dhawan, who steps into the uniform of a brave Indian soldier for this high-octane war drama. In the striking poster, Varun is in full gear, oozing intensity and pride. The image instantly sent social media abuzz, with his fans hailing the transformation and patriotic aura of the actor.

Sharing a powerful first look on social media handles, the makers write, “Border uska farz hai aur Bharat uska pyaar! #Border2 releasing on 23rd January, 2026.” The tagline translates to “The border is his duty, and India is his love,” aptly giving away the essence of the film-a perfect combination of emotion, sacrifice, and valour.
While more details pertaining to the cast and storyline are kept under wraps, the sequel is expected to pay tribute to the courage and selflessness of India’s armed forces with a modern cinematic touch. Border 2 is all set to revive the spirit of patriotism and brotherhood which made the original film a landmark in Indian cinema.

The film stars Varun Dhawan in the lead and is touted as one of the most ambitious projects of the actor. According to fans and trade experts, Border 2 could emerge as one of 2026’s biggest patriotic blockbusters as it celebrates the valour of soldiers guarding the nation’s frontlines.

Zohran Mamdani appears at PinkPantheress show in Brooklyn ahead of New York mayoral election

by jummy84 October 26, 2025

Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani appeared during PinkPantheress’ Brooklyn show just days before the mayoral election.

The left-wing candidate will be on the ballot on November 4 to be the new Mayor of New York City, in the contest to replace the outgoing Democrat Eric Adams, and just 10 days before the election, he popped up at the PinkPantheress concert to urge people to get out their vote.

On Friday night (October 24), the singer and musician kicked off her ‘An Evening With PinkPantheress’ North American tour with a show at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, and during a performance of ‘True Romance’ from her 2023 debut album ‘Heaven Knows’, the video backdrop behind her had a surprise for fans.

A pair of hands appeared on the screen, with “Our Time Has Come” and “Vote Nov. 4” written on the two palms. As the camera pulled back, it revealed Mamdani, who was greeted with loud cheers from the crowd.

Watch footage here:

@zararahim

couldn’t stop laughing, this was so loud – we love you Vicky! Vote Nov 4 😭 #pinkpantheress #zohranmamdani @😘🙈☺️

Mamdani also popped up during Lucy Dacus’ show at All Things Go in New York last month. “This is what our city should feel like,” he told the crowd. “It should be a city where trans New Yorkers are cherished, a city where our queer neighbours are celebrated, and a city where each and every New Yorker can be the fullest version of themselves. And it has to be a city that all of us can afford.”

As for PinkPantheress, her latest studio album was ‘Fancy That’, which was released in May and later nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize. The album scored a four-star review from NME, with Kyann-Sian Williams writing: “With ‘Fancy That’, PinkPantheress is kicking down the door to her next chapter – one that promises to be more adventurous than ever. She’s no longer content with being the elusive girl behind the screen, proving she can shapeshift, push boundaries and still keep us hooked – all in under 20 minutes.”

The star-studded remix album ‘Fancy Some More?’ arrived this month, featuring the likes of SEVENTEEN, JADE, Kylie Minogue, Sugababes and Zara Larsson. NME awarded that one three stars, noting: “’Fancy Some More?’ is ambitious and kaleidoscopic, packed with heavyweight collaborators and wildly inventive reinterpretations, but it rarely recaptures the tight, unruly charm of ‘Fancy That’.”

Last month, NME attended PinkPantheress’ show at the O2 Academy Brixton and rated the gig four stars: “By the end, when the cast bowed and hugged onstage, the night felt less like a polished pop spectacle and more like a madcap show-and-tell with a superstar host. It may not have reinvented the live experience, but it proved PinkPantheress’ real gift: she knows how to turn a massive venue into something intimate, funny and unhinged.”

‘BTS Movie Weeks’ Crosses $10M At Global Box Office Ahead Of Boyband’s Comeback

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

BTS Movie Weeks, a collection of four concert films from Korea’s history-making boyband, BTS, has grossed over $10M at the global box office, according to HYBE and Trafalgar Releasing.

The concert films were released in over 80 territories, across 2,700 cinemas, and premiered globally from September 24 to October 5.

There are screenings still ongoing this month and into November, across South Korea, Vietnam and Japan.

BTS confirmed in July that a full-length album will be released in spring next year, alongside a world tour, marking the group’s long-awaited return. In 2022, the group went on hiatus, as members Jin, Suga, J-hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook enlisted for Korea‘s mandatory military service and pursued solo activities.

BTS Movie Weeks was distributed worldwide by Trafalgar Releasing, excluding South Korea and Japan, where the title was released by Megabox and Avex, respectively.

Accompanying the film screenings around the world, cinema foyers carried installations and themed message walls, and also offered dancefloors and gathering spaces for BTS fans to come together.

Four concert films were screened: BTS’ 2016 performance “On Stage : Epilogue,” 2017’s “Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour —The Final,” 2019 world tour “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself — London” and 2021’s “Muster Sowoozoo.”

BTS Movie Weeks marks the third collaboration between HYBE and Trafalgar Releasing with added fan and exhibitor activations. Previous partnerships include the “HYBE Cine Fest In LATAM” in 2024 and “HYBE Cine Fest In Asia” in 2025.

“We’re truly excited by the response to BTS Movie Weeks” said Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing. “It’s a testament to the enduring power of BTS and the anticipation for their return, while also showcasing innovative new ways to create global event cinema experiences.”

Gabrielle Union is giving herself “grace” ahead of her 53rd birthday.

Gabrielle Union giving herself ‘grace’ ahead of 53rd birthday

The actress will celebrate her birthday on October 29 and says she is trying to focus on the positives in her life ahead of getting another year older.

She told PEOPLE: “I’m proud of myself and I’m finally giving my younger self grace for not being perfect and still being open to learning.

“And my grandmother lived to be 110 years old, so I got a good 60-plus years to continue to make myself proud.”

Gabrielle will be filming a movie in Italy around the time of her birthday, so she is hoping her husband, retired NBA star Dwayne Wade, 43, plans a romantic outing for them both.

She said: “Hopefully my husband takes me out on the town. It will be iconic [to celebrate with] a couple of cocktails in such a romantic, beautiful and fun city”.

Meanwhile, Gabrielle previously revealed she has struggled to balance her career in Hollywood with her responsibilities as a mother.

The movie star – who has Kaavia, six, with Dwyane, and is also the stepmother to Zaire, 23, Dahveon, 21, Zaya, 17, and Xavier, 11 – told Marie Claire magazine’s Motherhood Issue: “I felt much more conflicted about my lack of balance with Zaire and Dahveon because their needs were just different and they needed me to be physically present.

“But there’s no balance. I can’t work in Atlanta 12 to 16 hours a day and think that I can have balance when I’m flying in on the weekends. Now I rely heavily on our village and there is zero shame in that.”

Gabrielle acknowledged that she needs help from a team of people to raise her children.

The actress – who has been married to Dwayne since 2014 – said: “Not only do we have their long-term nanny, we’ve had mannies, we have family members, we have aunties, we have tutors, teachers, therapists. It’s all hands on deck.

“A lot of us have deep shame about that. But there is no balance. I had to give myself a ton of grace and be like, I can’t do it. I’m not even going to attempt having some kind of balance when none exists.”
