Hope Street season 5 release date confirmed – with added treat for fans

Hope Street season 5 has finally been given a confirmed released date on BBC One, and it’s sooner than fans might have expected.

The beloved Northern Irish police and crime drama will return to BBC One on Friday 31st October 2025 – what date could be more fitting for such a suspense-filled show than Halloween?

If you just can’t wait, then in an added treat for fans, the opening episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer even earlier – with season 5 currently scheduled to begin on iPlayer on Monday 27th October, with the full season available from 31st October.

Season 5 will also mark a milestone for the TV series as it will see the show’s 50th episode.

Hope Street follows the local police department in the fictional Northern Ireland seaside town of Port Devine where they tackle everything from petty thefts to organised crime, all whilst maintaining relationships with the tight knit local community.

Since its debut in 2021, the show has built up a large fanbase who have fallen in love with the show’s characters and its warm, easy-watching vibe.

The new season will see some new faces join the cast’s ranks. Cameron Cuffe, best known for ITV’s The Halcyon and the BBC adaption of Dolly Alderton’s novel Everything I Know About Love, is joining the cast as Constable Donal Gallagher, who joined the police after his promising rugby career was cut short.

Cuffe is joined by Belfast-born Jenn Murray who has appeared in Hollywood blockbusters Maleficent, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Her character, Dr Sasha Cookson, moves to Port Devine to take over her late father’s medical practice where she finds a spark with the new constable.

But for loyal fans who might be growing concerned, not to worry – core cast members Kerri Quinn, Tara Lynne O’Neill, Aaron McCusker and Niamh McGrady are all confirmed to be returning for season 5.

Marcus Onilude (Luke Jackson), Finnian Garbutt (Ryan Power), Katie Shortt (Brandi McClure), Eleanor Methven (Lois Dunlop), Paddy Jenkins (Seamie McCarthy), RhéAna Kamalu (Chloe Jackson) and Jonny Grogan (Ross Dunlop) are also all back for more. Phew!

Hope Street season 5 is coming to BBC One on Friday 31st October 2025. All episodes of season 5 will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer the same day.

Taylor Swift ‘Life of a Showgirl’ Acoustic Songs Added on CD Variants

Any Taylor Swift fans chanting “more!” after the release of The Life of a Showgirl‘s 12 tracks on Friday (Oct. 3) were in for a little surprise Saturday night (Oct. 4). Swift dropped four new CD variants of her latest album, each featuring two acoustic tracks not found on the standard version of Showgirl.

Now available in “limited quantities” on Swift’s official webstore, the CDs are described as having “brand new production by Max Martin, Shellback and Taylor Swift and newly recorded vocals by Taylor Swift.”

Fans can order the the limited-release CDs over a 24-hour period, through 7 p.m. ET Sunday — “while supplies last.” Each CD is priced at $7.99, and features cover art that’s different from that on the standard release. (Those who made it to a screening of The Release Party of a Showgirl in movie theaters this weekend will recognize the imagery.)

“File this under ‘save your best for the finale’… I think my favorite moments from the tour were the acoustic surprises. So I went back into the studio with Max and Shellback to record acoustic/unplugged versions of a few of the Showgirl songs with brand new vocals and production! Cannot WAIT for you to hear,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post promoting the CDs.

For those who share Swift’s love of acoustic versions of songs, here’s the breakdown of the four new The Life of a Showgirl options and what’s available on them (beyond the set’s original tracklist):

• Life Is a Song Acoustic Version with “Opalite (Life Is a Song Acoustic Version)” and “Ruin the Friendship (My Advice Version)”

• Dressing Room Rehearsal Version with “Wi$h Li$t (Settled Down Acoustic Version)” and “The Life of a Showgirl (Dressing Room Rehearsal Acoustic Version)”

• Alone in My Tower Acoustic Version with “The Fate of Ophelia (Alone in My Tower Acoustic Version)” and “Eldest Daughter (Now You’re Home Acoustic Version)”

• So Glamorous Cabaret Version with “Elizabeth Taylor (So Glamorous Cabaret Version)” and Elizabeth Taylor (Original Songwriting Voice Memo)

As Billboard revealed earlier on Saturday, initial first-day sales reports from data tracking firm Luminate say Swift sold 2.7 million copies in traditional album sales (physical and digital purchases) across all versions of the The Life of a Showgirl album available on its first day of release, Oct. 3. This means that in its first day alone, Showgirl‘s already seen the second-largest sales week for an album in the modern era — since Luminate began electronically tracking data in 1991. Only Adele has tracked a larger sales week since then, with 3.378 million copies of 25 sold within the first week of its release in 2015.

Ciara Added ‘Wilson’ To Son Future’s Last Name Years Ago

Ciara is one of many celebrities to take in the US Open in New York City this week, bringing along her two eldest children, Future, 11, and Sienna, 8, for the festivities.

Husband Russell Wilson was sure to show love to his wife and kids on social media Thursday (Sept 4), reposting an Instagram story from Vogue‘s account of the family taking in a tennis match.

“Mrs. @ciara Wilson, Future Wilson, and Sienna Wilson [3 heart-eye emojis],” the NFL star captioned the repost. While most took it as nothing more than a sign of affection, others began to question son Future’s last name, as Wilson is his step father while rapper Nayvadius “Future” Wilburn is his biological father.

“Russ calling him ‘Future Wilson’ was petty and nobody can tell me different,” wrote @waymoflydenu on X/Twitter. “If you’re present in a child’s life, you don’t have compete. Your actions will show the child who’s really involved and who’s not. That post was corny.”

This also led many to believe that Ciara legally changed young Future’s last name from Wilburn to Wilson.

“The only ones agreeing with this is bitter BMs,” wrote @inezalbright2, who disagrees with the idea. “My child also had a stepfather but she carried her biological father’s name. I got married to that man, not my child.”

It turns out, however, that the CiCi singer, 39, did amend her eldest son’s last name years ago, adding Wilson onto Wilburn, but not replacing his born surname, TMZ reports. This would make his full name Future Zahir Wilburn Wilson.

This allows for young Future to share the same last name as his household while retaining a connection to his biological father.

Russell, 36, spoke on stepping in to be a father to young Future on a February 2024 episode of the I AM ATHLETE podcast, saying he knew it was his duty once he feel in love with his R&B star mother.

“Stepping in to raise a child with [Ciara] and realizing that, ‘Okay God, I know she’s the one for me.’ But also too, I’m gonna take this responsibility as well.” Wilson said of raising baby Future. “I was ready for that… What a gift. That’s been the greatest gift of raising Future [Jr.], Sienna, Win and now Amora. It’s like, man, God gave me that opportunity to raise them and to love them and to care for them… And there’s no difference.”
