Sydney Sweeney has been a rising star in recent years. While she’s been acting since childhood, she gained widespread recognition in 2018 for roles in The Handmaid’s Tale and Sharp Objects. More recently, she’s only grown in fame with critically-acclaimed roles in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time In Hollywood and the HBO shows Euphoria and The White Lotus, both of which she earned Primetime Emmy nominations for in 2022.

In addition to her Emmy nominations, 2022 was also a very special year for Sydney, as she also got engaged to her former longtime boyfriend, Jonathan Davino. While fans have speculated about a connection between Sydney and Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell following their steamy rom-com Anyone But You, the Madame Web actress addressed her relationship with Jonathan while hosting Saturday Night Live in March 2024. However, in early 2025, TMZ reported that the couple broke up.

Find out everything you need to know about Sydney and Jonathan’s former relationship and her current dating life now.

Does Sydney Sweeney Have a Boyfriend?

Yes, Sydney has reportedly been dating Scooter Braun since mid-2025 following her breakup from Jonathan.

How Did Sydney Sweeney Meet Jonathan Davino?

While it’s not clear exactly how Jonathan and Sydney first crossed paths, the pair were first reported to be seeing each other back in 2018, when they were seen attending an Emmy party together, per People. Shortly after they were first spotted at the award show celebration, the pair were spotted sitting side-by-side on the floor at New York’s Madison Square Garden, watching a Knicks game, and Sydney looked over the moon while she was staring at him. It was revealed that the two of them were engaged in March 2022, after almost four years of dating.

Jonathan Davino Is a Businessman

It was previously reported that Jonathan was a restaurateur and owner of several now-closed restaurants in Chicago, but Sydney has since clarified that this is not true.

“He’s not a restaurateur,” she told Glamour UK. “I have no idea where that came from. He’s also not the heir of a pizza company. He’s a business guy. He’s from Chicago. We’ve been watching [this narrative] for six years now and I’m like, ‘What the hell?’”

Jonathan Davino Is From Chicago

While Sydney was raised in Washington state and does most of her work in Los Angeles, she has spoken about her love for the city that Jonathan calls home. She said she had “a friend” in Chicago as rumors that she was first dating the businessman during a 2019 interview with Elite Daily. “I have a place there,” she said at the time. “It’s like my getaway place.”

What Has Sydney Said About Jonathan?

While Sydney initially kept her relationship private, she did open up about what qualities she looks for in a partner during a February 2022 interview with Cosmopolitan. “I look for a best friend. I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of and we laugh every single day,” she said.

While the actress didn’t open about her relationship, Sydney did reveal that she wants a family during a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I want to have a family, I’ve always wanted to be a young mom, and I’m worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have children and looks at them in a different light,” she said. “I was worried that, if I don’t work, there is no money and no support for kids I would have.”

Nearly two years later, Sydney took a moment to gush over Jonathan during her SNL hosting debut in March 2024. Meanwhile, she shut down the rumors that she and Glen were ever in a relationship.

“The craziest rumor I’ve seen is that while I was filming Anyone But You, I was having an affair with my co-star Glen Powell. That’s obviously not true,” she said. “Me and my fiancé produced the movie together, and he was there the entire shoot. I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams, and we’re still together and stronger than ever.”

In an epic joke, though, Sydney had the cameras cut to Glen, who was sitting in the SNL audience. The actor also appeared in a skit with Sydney and called her “baby cakes,” playing into the baseless affair rumors.

While Sydney has kept her relationship private, DeuxMoi was the first to report how she deleted a pic of her and Jonathan kissing from Instagram, leading to many to speculate about their relationship status. Shortly thereafter, multiple outlets reported that Sydney and Jonathan had called it quits.

In April 2025, the two were spotted together amid rumors that they had called off their engagement.

Sydney Hasn’t Dated Celebrities

While there were rumors linking Sydney to her Anyone But You co-star, Glen, the actress noted she wasn’t interested in dating another celebrity in that 2022 Cosmo interview. “I don’t date people in the spotlight. I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way, and it’s easiest. I have a great support system,” she told the magazine. “I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, ‘Oh no, I’m shining too bright and I need to step back.’”

Maria Riva in the 1950s
TV & Streaming

Actress, Marlene Dietrich Daughter Was 100

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Maria Riva, the only child of Marlene Dietrich who as a rare contract player with CBS was one of the top television personalities in the medium’s early days of live, kinescope broadcasts, died Wednesday. She was 100.

Riva died in her sleep at the home of son Peter Riva in Gila, New Mexico, he told The Hollywood Reporter. She had been living with him since early last year.

William S. Paley’s favorite actress, Riva starred, often as a woman in peril, on such classic anthology series as Studio One, Lux Video Theatre, Suspense and The Philco Television Playhouse and on shows including Danger, Crime Photographer and Climax!

She quit acting in the late 1950s — she often described herself as a “Poor Man’s Dietrich” and admitted she never had a burning ambition to be an actress — but managed her mother’s glitzy one-woman Las Vegas act and global tours for many years.

A few months after Dietrich died in Paris in May 1992 at age 90, Riva published a book about her glamorous movie-star mother. “I consider myself a biographer, not the daughter,” she said in a 2009 chat for the Television Academy Foundation website The Interviews.

“I’m very proud of the fact I was able to step back as a biographer … what was wrong was wrong, what was right was right, what was great was great, what was brilliant was brilliant. [People] don’t understand how it is possible to be a child of an ephemeral creature that is beyond normalcy. It’s very difficult.”

The only child of Dietrich and Rudolf Sieber, an editor and assistant director who later was put in charge of translating films for Paramount in Paris, Maria Elisabeth Sieber was born in Berlin on Dec. 13, 1924.

“But I never thought that was my name, because being the child of a very famous person, I was always ‘Maria, the Daughter of Marlene Dietrich,’” she said. “I actually signed it that way when I was a child.”

When she was 5, she “was imported” to Los Angeles to live with her mother, by then a huge star at Paramount Pictures.

Riva played Catherine the Great as a child — Dietrich portrayed the Russian monarch as an adult — in Josef von Sternberg’s The Scarlet Empress (1934), then appeared in another film starring her mom, David O. Selznick’s The Garden of Allah (1936), an early Technicolor release.

Later, she was raped repeatedly by a woman who was the secretary of one of her mother’s lovers, she said.

Riva attended the Brillantmont International School in Switzerland and studied acting as a teenager at the Max Reinhardt Academy in Los Angeles at Wilshire & Fairfax, where the Academy Museum is now.

She then taught and directed there — her students included Elizabeth Taylor’s brother, Howard — acted on the radio with Orson Welles’ Mercury Theater and appeared on Broadway with Tallulah Bankhead in Foolish Notion in 1945.

After a brief first marriage and performing in Germany and Italy for two years as part of a USO troupe, she taught a graduate course in acting and directing at Fordham University and married scenic designer William Riva in 1947, while Dietrich was away in Europe.

When she complained to him about what she was seeing on television, he said to her: “’I’m so tired hearing you criticize this new profession. Why don’t you go and do something to make it better?’ And that’s why I went into television.”

She made her first TV appearance in 1951 on the anthology series Sure as Fate before signing a three-year contract for $250 a week with CBS, which sought to create a movie-style studio system. She acted often alongside John Forsythe and appeared on hundreds of TV episodes.

“There was a saying: You played to Mrs. Glutz in the Bronx,” she said. “People who knew nothing about acting, about the profession, would now get [their entertainment] for free in their home, and they should be glad to get whatever they got. So you played to a very low standard. Which was fine, because I had no talent.”

Still, she received Emmy nominations as best actress in 1952 and 1953, appeared in a “mirror-image” photograph with her mother on the cover of Life magazine in August 1952 and later turned down an opportunity to replace an ailing Imogene Coca on NBC’s Your Show of Shows.

Riva also did TV commercials for Alcoa in which she would demonstrate how to use the company’s new product — that would be aluminum foil — and was paired with famed product pitchwoman Betty Furness when CBS tested color television for the first time.

At the height of her career as the TV industry moved west, she quit, not wanting to return to Los Angeles. “I had grown up in a world where everybody was beautiful, everybody was rich, everybody had everything that everybody else in the world wants, and nobody was really happy. And I learned a very valuable lesson, that it’s not what it looks like on the surface.”

She did tour in stage productions of Tea & Sympathy and Country Girl and noted that, “outside of Jackie Gleason and the great comedians, I was probably the first person that drew people as a television personality into another media.”

Riva returned to acting to play Mrs. Rhinelander — the wife of Robert Mitchum’s character, Bill Murray’s boss — in Scrooged (1988), directed by Richard Donner. Her first-born son, the late J. Michael Riva, was the film’s production designer, and another son, John-Paul Riva, was a production assistant in the art department.

She acted again in All Aboard (2018), a short film directed by grandson J. Michael Riva Jr.

Riva also co-authored a 2001 photography book with previously unseen images of her mother, edited a 2005 volume of Dietrich’s poetry and wrote a 2017 period novel, You Were There Before My Eyes, about a woman who emigrates from Italy to Detroit.

After Dietrich’s death from liver failure, she sold much of her mom’s estate to Berlin to be housed in the city’s Deutsche Kinemathek museum.

She and William Riva remained together until his death in 1999.

In addition to her sons Peter and John-Paul, survivors include another son, David, and her grandchildren, Lily, Ayla, Aidan and Marilee.

A timeless icon of style, Dietrich received an Oscar nomination for her turn opposite Gary Cooper in Morocco (1930) and starred in such films as Blonde Venus (1932), The Devil Is a Woman (1935), Touch of Evil (1958) and Judgment at Nuremberg (1961).

Dietrich and Sieber, who died in 1976, never divorced, even though they lived together for only a few years. Meanwhile, she reportedly had sex with the likes of Cooper, John Gilbert, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Frank Sinatra, Eddie Fisher, James Stewart, Jean Gabin and Yul Brynner. And that was just the men.

While promoting her book about Dietrich, Riva told Diane Sawyer that her mom had this idea for her own funeral: “All the men who walk into the church, and women, who had slept with her would get a red carnation, and all the people who said they had slept with her but hadn’t would get a white carnation.”

'Terrifier' Actress Claims Breach of Contract, Sexual Harassment

‘Terrifier’ Actress Claims Breach of Contract, Sexual Harassment

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Catherine Corcoran, the actress whose brutal death scene in “Terrifier” (2016) helped make the smash-hit horror franchise a success, has sued filmmaker Damien Leone and producers for breach of contract. The case was filed in a California federal court on Sunday, beginning legal proceedings that will determine whether Corcoran has been wrongly denied her fair share of profits.

The lawsuit also alleges extreme working conditions, a broken SAG-AFTRA agreement, and on-set sexual harassment — naming producer Phil Falcone in a reported incident that Corcoran says involved Falcone photographing her nude without her consent while she was trapped in a special effects rig.

IndieWire

“Were it not for Corcoran’s willingness to take a risk on this production and receive her compensation on the back-end, the series would not exist as it could not have been made on a shoe-string budget otherwise,” the plaintiff’s filing argued. “When it came time to pay what was owed, the producers chose to cheat her. This injustice must be rectified.”

An attorney for Leone told The Hollywood Reporter (which broke this story), “Damien and Phil deny the claims in the complaint and will vigorously defend this lawsuit.” Neither responded to IndieWire’s request for comment.

Corcoran claims she’s entitled to 1 percent of proceeds from a backend deal that covers ticket sales for all three films in the series — as well as any money made from the licensing and use of “Terrifier” IP. To date, the actress says she’s been paid less than $8,400 for her contribution to the killer clown icon.

“Terrifier 2” and “Terrifier 3” were distributed theatrically by Cineverse, and the franchise has a lifetime gross of more than $106 million at the box office. The suit lists major brand names in horror, including Spirit Halloween and Hot Topic, as proof of the artistic success Corcoran’s scene helped spark. Dawn’s death is currently featured as part of the walk-through “Terrifier” attraction at Halloween Horror Nights.

“The producers of the film paid Corcoran her royalties for a brief period of time several years after the release of the film, but when the film series’ success started to grow exponentially and exceeded the producer’s original expectations, the royalty payments became more and more sporadic and dwindled to amounts nowhere near commensurate with the revenues generated,” read the complaint, which also lists Dark Age Cinema, Fuzz on the Lens Productions, and the Art the Clown trademark as defendants.

Among the first victims of Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), Corcoran sys she played Dawn — notoriously vivisected from crotch to cranium, while the actress was suspended upside-down — for just $100 a day. Corcoran’s performance reportedly fell under a special SAG contract for ultra low budget performers that, coupled with the terms of a mutual nondisclosure agreement Corcoran’s team has submitted as evidence, lead her to believe she would be compensated more robustly if the $35,000 film became a success. The suit claims Corcoran was later told Falcone “didn’t keep records.”

“The low-budget nature of the production carried over into the working conditions on set, including long hours in below freezing temperatures in condemned buildings, all without heat and some without bathrooms,” continued the complaint. “The so-called ‘practical effects’ that made ‘Terrifier’ so compelling on screen involved the director placing prosthetics with actual rat feces on Corcoran’s skin and real duct tape over her mouth.”

“Further, when creating the silicone mold for Corcoran’s body cast, the producers of the film required Corcoran to lie nude on a piece of plywood while she was covered with a quick-drying liquid silicone agent,” the court document said. “However, the process was done incorrectly and the silicone dried and essentially glued Corcoran to the plywood, requiring a long, painful process to remove the dried silicone from her body. To make matters worse, Falcone took numerous still photographs of Corcoran’s nude body while she was glued to the plywood sheet without her consent.”

The case further challenges the terms of Corcoran’s employment on “Terrifer,” arguing that Leone and producers never got her written approval for the nude scene as required by SAG. The actress claims that Leone, Falcone, and more “Terrifier” contributors have continued to profit off the unauthorized use of her nude image by using it to sell products. Corcoran says the sawing scene for “Terrifier” took ten hours to shoot and caused blood to pool in her head, resulting in reported cranial swelling and eardrum damage.

The public disagreement comes on the heels of more “Terrifier” controversy, involving the treatment of sequel stars Lauren LaVera and David Howard Thornton earlier this year. Neither actor has commented on the case. Production on “Terrifier 4” has not yet started and the film does not have a distributor.

Aneet’s casting in the film was confirmed after a lot of speculation and needless to say, her fans were elated. The actress was introduced along with the tag line of the film that read, “The protector. The destroyer. The mother of all.” Talking about roping in the Saiyaara star, filmmaker Amar Kaushik, who is an important part of the MHCU, told Filmfare, “We wanted someone younger for that character, someone who doesn’t have a baggage. We wanted a character like that and it evolved as we kept writing. She is also a very good actor. Not just Saiyaara, but I have seen her work besides that. She caught things really well during the screen test and the reading. We had brought in Abhay Verma in Munjya (2024), who was very new at that time. But he went well with the character, so we stuck to him. That’s our thing.”

In Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed, Kritika Kamra stepped into a gritty, socially charged narrative that mirrored India’s harsh lockdown realities. Her performance as a journalist brought sensitivity and courage to the forefront — a woman unafraid to question systems, yet deeply empathetic towards the suffering of common people. Kritika’s character wasn’t just a witness to injustice; she became the moral compass of the story, showing how empathy and truth-telling are acts of rebellion.

    Hush Hush

Amazon Prime Video’s Hush Hush showcased Kritika in a darker, psychological thriller setting. Amidst a star-studded ensemble, she held her own as Dolly Dalal, a woman trapped in societal expectations, grappling with her identity, and ultimately reclaiming her agency. Kritika brought both vulnerability and quiet strength to the role, embodying the story’s central theme that every woman hides a truth, and it’s her choice when and how to reveal it.

      Bambai Meri Jaan

In the crime-drama Bambai Meri Jaan, Kritika portrayed Habiba Kadri, a character that stood out in a world dominated by men and power struggles. As the daughter of a gangster, she brought ferocity and intelligence to the role, proving that she wasn’t a mere bystander to her family’s legacy but an active force within it. Kritika infused Habiba with quiet defiance showing how strength isn’t always loud, but deeply rooted in resilience and conviction.

        Gyaarah Gyaarah

In Gyaarah Gyaarah, Kritika delved into the world of mystery and time travel, a genre rarely explored by female leads in Indian storytelling. Her character was cerebral, intuitive, and emotionally layered, balancing intellect with heart. Kritika’s performance in this Arjun Varain Singh directorial was yet another reminder of her knack for choosing narratives where women lead from the front, driving the plot rather than orbiting around it.

          Saare Jahan Se Accha

In Saare Jahan Se Accha, Kritika continues her streak of portraying strong, self-reliant women. While details of her character remain under wraps, early buzz suggests another nuanced performance that celebrates individuality and emotional strength. Whether it’s navigating relationships, ambition, or identity, Kritika ensures her characters reflect the modern woman’s journey layered, flawed, but always fearless.
