by jummy84 December 16, 2025
written by jummy84

  • Acquisition details. Cvent announces the acquisition of Goldcast to add AI-powered video capabilities to its event marketing portfolio.
  • Platform integration. The combined offering links event execution with automated video creation, distribution and analytics.
  • Operational implications. The deal reflects growing demand for tools that extend the value of events across digital marketing and sales channels.

Cvent is betting that the future of event marketing lies in automated video content creation. The company announced Dec. 15 its acquisition of Goldcast, a video content platform for B2B webinars and events. The deal combines Cvent’s approximately 30,000-customer base with Goldcast’s AI-powered video creation tools, enabling marketers to transform live events into video content for multiple channels.

The integrated platform will allow marketing teams to execute webinars and events, then immediately repurpose footage for web, email, social and sales activation. The acquisition addresses growing pressure on marketers to extend event value as buying journeys become increasingly digital and video-led, according to company officials.

Video Marketing Means Personalised Conversions

By combining Cvent’s trusted enterprise platform with Goldcast’s AI-powered video innovation, we’re creating a future-ready solution for marketers. Together we’ll put same‑day, on‑brand video in more marketers’ hands — so they can publish, personalise and enable sales faster, and keep winning the mindshare of their audiences.

A Human-Led, AI-Powered Vision for Event-Led Growth

At Cvent CONNECT Europe in October, CEO and Founder Reggie Aggarwal outlined a future for events that blends human connection with AI-powered scale, positioning marketing-led events as a core growth engine for modern organisations.

Speaking to thousands of industry professionals, Aggarwal framed events as one of the few remaining places where brands can create durable relationships and measurable business impact. In a digital-first environment shaped by economic uncertainty and geopolitical pressure, he emphasised that in-person and hybrid events continue to deliver strong ROI precisely because they foster trust, community and shared experience.

Artificial intelligence featured prominently in Aggarwal’s vision, which he described as a productivity force multiplier rather than a replacement for human creativity. He introduced CventIQ™, a collection of intelligence capabilities embedded across the platform, designed to automate operational tasks while preserving the strategic and relational work that defines successful events. New capabilities include live session transcription and insights, AI-assisted hotel RFP responses and generative 3D event design tools.

Aggarwal also highlighted the rise of Event-Led Growth (ELG), a go-to-market approach that places events at the center of customer acquisition, engagement and revenue. To support this shift, Cvent has expanded offerings such as Cvent Essentials for repeatable, small-format events and continued enhancements to its webinar platform to better engage video-first audiences. Together, these investments reflect a broader strategy to help marketers turn events into scalable, omnichannel growth assets.

Goldcast Sharpens Its Agentic Video Strategy for 2026

In a December product update, Goldcast outlined a clear shift from AI-assisted video production to fully agentic workflows, positioning video as a scalable growth engine rather than a tactical content channel.

The company’s 2025 roadmap centers on outcome-driven creation, where marketers define intent and AI agents execute multi-step editing, packaging and distribution. New capabilities emphasise turning video libraries into “editorial brains” that proactively surface, bundle and adapt content across channels, reducing the need for manual production and coordination.

Measurement is equally central to the strategy. Goldcast is doubling down on account-level video intelligence, tying consumption signals directly to CRM systems so sales and marketing teams can connect video engagement to pipeline impact. Together, these updates signal Goldcast’s ambition to help lean teams orchestrate video-led growth at scale as buying journeys become more selective and video-driven.

AI Integration Changes Marketing Operations

Organisations are embedding AI-powered analytics and automation into marketing operations at scale, fundamentally changing how companies pursue effectiveness and efficiency.

Sixty percent of marketers now use AI daily, with nearly one in five departments allocating 40% or more of their budgets to AI initiatives. Organisations deploying AI-powered analytics reported up to 25% increases in customer satisfaction alongside significant cost reductions.

More recently, 21% of organisations using generative AI have fundamentally redesigned at least some workflows to accommodate these capabilities.

Strategic Capabilities Driving Adoption

Dynamic Personalisation and Engagement

AI enables real-time content adaptation based on individual behavior, moving beyond static segmentation. AI agents integrated with marketing automation can adjust campaigns faster and optimise content strategies based on performance trends.

Scalable Customer Journey Orchestration

Organisations are extending automation beyond basic triggered messages to comprehensive customer journey management. The combination of automation’s consistency with AI’s dynamic capabilities enables live, in-journey updates based on real-time data.

Enhanced Decision-Making Velocity

AI-driven analytics reduce uncertainty in campaign optimisation through A/B testing insights and real-time performance tracking.

Implementation Challenges Persist

Despite significant investment, less than 1% of organisations have reached AI maturity. The primary obstacle is choice overload — marketers face dosens of potential entry points across content generation, personalisation engines, analytics platforms and automation tools.

Most vendors now support API-first approaches to accommodate headless and composable architectures, enabling AI capabilities to integrate across marketing technology stacks.

Over 50% of marketers plan to increase AI spending, suggesting continued momentum. Success increasingly depends on strategic sequencing rather than tool proliferation.

Janus Films Acquires Nathan Silver’s Carol Kane Doc Short Carol & Joy

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Janus Films has acquired all U.S. rights to “Carol & Joy,” a vérité documentary short featuring Oscar-nominated actress Carol Kane and her 98-year-old mother, Joy.

The film — directed by Nathan Silver (“Between the Temples”) — had its world premiere at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival and continued its fall festival run at the New York Film Festival, Hamptons International Film Festival and Woodstock Film Festival. It had its international premiere at the Viennale.

“Carol & Joy” will now debut exclusively on the Criterion Channel on Dec. 1, 2025. Janus will be supporting the film’s efforts for best documentary short category at the 2026 Academy Awards.

On New York’s Upper West Side, Kane lives with her 98-year-old mother Joy, an active music teacher, former dancer, and lifelong Francophile. In this intimate short vérité documentary shot on 16mm, the filmmaking team behind the acclaimed “Between the Temples” —  for which Kane was recently nominated for a Spirit Award — visit the pair in their home for an afternoon of music and friends and stories.

The film is produced by Jamie Gonçalves (“Predators, “Dos estaciones”), C. Mason Wells (“Between the Temples,” “Thirst Street”), Dweck Productions’ Hannah Dweck and Theodore Schaefer (“Maddie’s Secret,” “The Adults”), and Brian Liebman (“Brats,” “The Featherweight”). Executive producers include Natalie Portman and Sophie Mas’ MountainA (“May December,” “Arco”) and Diane Lanyi (“Between the Temples”). The film was shot in the tradition of legendary cinema vérité makers Albert and David Maysles by Sean Price Williams (“Good Time,” “The Sweet East”) and Hunter Zimny (“Funny Pages”).

“We filmed Carol & Joy on 16mm in a single New York City apartment, using an observational and conversational style indebted to our verite nonfiction heroes from the ‘60s and ‘70s,” said Silver. “I think every one of the documentaries that inspired us is — of course! — in the Janus Films library and streaming on the Criterion Channel. It’s an unbelievable honor for our film to be welcomed to live alongside these greats in the same beautiful building.”

Kane’s career has spanned five decades. She was nominated for best actress at the Academy Awards for “Hester Street,” won two Emmy Awards and earned a Golden Globe nomination for her work on the television series “Taxi,” and garnered an Emmy nomination for “Chicago Hope.” She was also a series regular on the Netflix series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “Hunters.”

“Between the Temples, which world premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, was released by Sony Pictures Classics in 2024. The film was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Gotham Awards and won Kane the New York Film Critics Circle Award for best supporting actress.

Janus Films recently announced the acquisitions of Sophy Romvari’s acclaimed debut feature “Blue Heron,” Carla Simon’s 2025 Cannes selections “Romeria,” auteur Lav Diaz’s latest “Magellan,” the Cannes award-winning “Resurrection” from director Bi Gan, Hlynur Pálmason’s “The Love That Remains,” Sergei Loznitsa’s acclaimed “Two Prosecutors,” and Ira Sachs’ Sundance and New York Film Festival selection “Peter Hujar’s Day.”

Freestyle Digital Media Acquires ‘Yes Repeat No’ for November Release

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Freestyle Digital Media has acquired the North American rights to “Yes Repeat No,” a drama exploring Israeli-Palestinian identity. The film releases Nov. 11 on North American VOD platforms and DVD.

“Yes Repeat No” follows the story of three actors who are auditioning to play Juliano Mer-Khamis, a Palestinian-Jewish actor and activist who was assassinated in 2011 on the steps of the theater he founded in Jenin. Born to an anti-Zionist Jewish mother and a Palestinian Christian Communist father, Mer-Khamis became an internationally acclaimed actor who appeared in films including “The Little Drummer Girl” and “Miral,” and later began a career as a director, theater founder and a political activist.

“Yes Repeat Now” stars Salome Azizi (“The Director”), Mousa Kraish (“Arab Juliano”), Adam Meir (“Public Juliano”), and Kariem Saleh (“Israeli Juliano”).

“Because we made this film before October 7th, we could examine our collective, fraught history with nuance and compassion, without clinging to ‘sides.’ We want to build bridges rather than fan flames, and to challenge our viewers’ understanding of the conflict,” said filmmaker Michael Dahan. “By weaving direct quotes from Palestinian, Israeli, Arab and American leaders throughout the dialogue the film reveals how the meaning of words spoken by political figures such as Arafat, Netanyahu, and others have shifted over time. In a time of conflict, ‘Yes Repeat No’ insists on imagining a better future and encourages its audience to feel more understood and less alone.”

The film is written and directed by Dahan, who also serves as the film’s producer alongside N. Braxton Pope and Sarah Szalavitz.

Square Eyes Acquires ‘The Kartli Kingdom’ Ahead of IDFA World Premiere

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Vienna-based sales outlet Square Eyes has secured international rights to “The Kartli Kingdom,” directed by Tamar Kalandadze and Julien Pebrel. The film is set to world premiere in the International Competition at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), taking place Nov. 13-23.

“Kartli” refers both to Georgia’s medieval kingdom and a Tbilisi sanatorium sheltering refugees from the 1990s war in Abkhazia, meant as temporary but lasting 30 years. The collapsing building became a recreated “country”: a farm, garden, terraces, and rooms where old VHS tapes revive memories of Abkhazia, their lost paradise. Through Tamuna, Irma and others, the film reveals the exile’s trauma and shared resilience. Even if time seems frozen in Kartli’s walls, nothing stays the same.

“Our film narrates a community’s story through the shelter of Kartli: past, present and imagined future, lending gentleness, violence, sadness, memories, and humor,” Kalandadze and Pebrel commented. “These layers of time merge in editing, combining image and sound materials. Memories, words and tales of Kartli’s past shape its inhabitants’ lives, forming foundational myths. These stories, like an underground stream, resurface during conversations, interrupting scenes we filmed. Archival footage adds bursts of collective memory, showing the 1992 war’s impact on the community.”

“We love how the film gives us a glimpse inside the walls of the Kartli sanatorium, where the collective memory of the 1992 war in Abkhazia and the current lives of the residents mix into a touching and poetic documentary,” stated Wouter Jansen, CEO of Square Eyes. “The mix of these two narratives makes the film a perfect match for our catalog.”

“The Kartli Kingdom” is produced by Ketevan Kipiani for Giorgia’s Sakdoc Film and Jean-Baptiste Bonnet for Habilis Productions in France. Square Eyes is in charge of world sales.

CloserStill Media acquires Billington CyberSecurity

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

CloserStill Media, the producer of market-leading business events, exhibitions and conferences, has acquired Billington CyberSecurity – organizer of the leading U.S. public sector cybersecurity conferences and events. The terms of the deal are undisclosed.

Founded in 2010, Billington CyberSecurity set out with a clear mission: to convene thought leaders from across the public and private sectors to examine cybersecurity and strengthen the U.S. cyber defenses. Over the past 16 years, Billington has established the world’s leading government cybersecurity summits for top cyber leaders in the U.S. and among its allies.

The announcement followed the 16th Annual Billington CyberSecurity Summit, held September 9-12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC, which broke records with more than 3,000 attendees, over 300 speakers and 158 sponsors. It was the largest edition to date, featuring senior cybersecurity leaders from across the Five Eyes Community, the U.S. government and industry.

Attendee Laura Galante, former Director of the Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), said of this year’s Summit: “Billington is the energy of public and private partnerships in the federal sector and in the commercial sector coming together. You can hear it in the halls, you can feel it in the sessions, whether it’s top-level officials at the Pentagon, folks from the intelligence community and all of the different companies and ecosystem that services them. This is where good ideas come together in the defense of our networks is at the forefront of everyone’s mind.”

Another attendee, George Barnes, President, Cyber Practice, Red Cell Partners (former Deputy Director, NSA), said: “I come to Billington every year and the reason I come is because it brings together government, industry and academia to look at the new issues that are evolving in cybersecurity because we know cyber touches everything.”

Building on the federal summit’s success, the Billington team launched a second major event, the Billington State & Local CyberSecurity Summit, in 2024. Held annually in March, the State & Local Summit has also proven to be a key gathering for cyber leaders at all levels of government.

Billington also hosts a year-round Leadership Council for federal and state + local cyber communities.

The acquisition further strengthens CloserStill’s North America portfolio which includes over 25 events and 125 employees specifically focused on the technology, infrastructure and healthcare portfolios – most recently acquired events include Ai4 and PARCEL Forum. Globally, CloserStill continues to accelerate its presence in high-growth technology markets, including multiple cybersecurity events across the world.

Tom Billington, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, will stay on as CEO and lead the program’s content with a new role as Chief Content Officer.

“The values of Billington CyberSecurity since our founding in 2010 – producing world class content and building trusted relationships in the national security community to enhance our collective cybersecurity – remain as important today as ever,” Billington said. “I am excited and honored for our team to join forces with CloserStill Media, which deeply shares these values, and thank all our partners for making our mission possible since 2010. CloserStill grasps the importance of our mission, shares our entrepreneurial passion for events and believes that world class cyber education serves the national security interests of our country and allies.”

Billington CyberSecurity’s President Troy Schneider will continue to lead business operations, and both he and Tom will report to Yancy Weinrich, President, North America at CloserStill Media. The full Billington team will join CloserStill Media.

Commenting on the deal, Weinrich said:

“Under Tom’s and Troy’s leadership, Billington has built a powerful platform that plays a critical role in protecting the cyber safety of the U.S. This was clearer than ever at last week’s Summit. The Billington team’s commitment to advancing public and private-sector awareness around the importance of cybersecurity has fostered a dedicated community built on trust and purpose. These values strongly resonate with the way we operate at CloserStill.”

“This acquisition marks a significant step in our growth journey. We’re proud to be the new stewards of these market-leading and mission-driven events and look forward to building on the incredible foundation the team have created. We aim to expand its reach, deepen the content even further and ensure the events continue to shape and influence the future of cybersecurity in the North America market for many years to come.”

CloserStill Group CEO, Gareth Bowhill said:

“We’re very excited to announce this acquisition and to welcome Tom and his team to CloserStill. This strategic transaction deepens the Group’s expertise in cybersecurity as well as broadens our technology portfolio in North America. We believe that, together with the Billington CyberSecurity team, there are multiple exciting opportunities we can reach through this partnership.”

BrightTower, a New York City headquartered investment banking and M&A advisory services firm, served as exclusive financial advisor to Billington CyberSecurity in this transaction.
