Toni Braxton Reflects On Meeting Birdman As They Celebrate 1-Year Wedding Anniversary: We’ve Been Friends For Over 25 Years

The couple recently celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary, marking a major milestone in their longtime relationship. During a recent appearance on #JennaandFriends, Toni opened up about how their decades-long friendship eventually blossomed into romance. “We’ve been friends for over 25 years,” she shared. “He used to go to all my shows — he was there for my baby shower, that kind of thing.”

Toni also revealed that the two celebrated their anniversary with a private getaway. The pair quietly tied the knot in August 2024, but that same month, the R&B legend filed for divorce. In January, however, Toni dismissed the petition, and the couple has been going strong ever since.

On Tuesday, September 23, Claressa Shields took to her Instagram to share a special post with her more than 1.6 million followers and, more importantly, with her man.

“Happy 1 year anniversary @papoose! 365 days of love with my favorite person 😊. You’ve been my rock, guiding me through the ups and downs. Thanks for being my partner in crime, for the laughter, advice, and endless love. You’re one of a kind! 😚😮‍💨🥹 Cheers to many more! #Claressashields #Gwoat #papoose #papooseandclaressa,” she wrote.

Furthermore, her post featured 17 slides — most of which showed her and Papoose embracing, smiling, laughing, and planting kisses on one another.

Furthermore, a few hours later, Papoose took to his Instagram account to share his own post celebrating his 1-year milestone with Shields. Additionally, his post featured a video and photo of him and his boo attending the recent ‘VMA’ award show.

“They say time flies when you’re having fun. Can’t believe it’s been 1 full year already. Happy 1 year anniversary to my 💎 @claressashields #countinggreenchallenge,” he captioned the post.
