Paul Bettany Back With Ultron, Tommy and Jarvis

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Vision fans have been asking themselves “What is grief, if not love persevering?” ever since Paul Bettany‘s android character died in “Avengers: Infinity War” but then was reanimated in 2021’s Disney+ series “WandaVision.” The wait is nearly over, and Vision will return in the Disney+ series “Vision Quest” in 2026.

Marvel released the first trailer for “Vision Quest” exclusively to fans at New York Comic Con. The trailer showed Bettany back as White Vision from the ending of “WandaVision,” plus a regular-looking human version. There was also human versions of Ultron, who was voiced by James Spader in the second “Avengers” movie, and the AI programs Jarvis, Friday and Edith. At the end of the trailer, there was a brief shot of an adult Tommy, Vision and Wanda’s son that appeared as a child in “WandaVision.”

“Vision Quest” was described as the third part of a trilogy that included “WandaVision” and “Agatha All Along.” In the trailer, Bettany walks up to a white mansion and is greeted by human servants who are really just recreated AI programs. They include Jarvis, who was Tony Stark’s AI program that later became Vision; Friday, who replaced Jarvis and was the AI assistant to Stark and Spider-Man; and Edith, the AI program in Stark’s sunglasses from “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

Spader reprises his role from “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as the titular genocidal AI, who Vision appeared to destroy at the end of the film (though it happened off camera). In addition to reappearing as Ultron, Spader was shown as a human in the trailer. “Vision Quest” co-stars Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Ruaridh Mollica and Emily Hampshire. Terry Matalas (“Star Trek: Picard”) created the show and is the showrunner and executive producer.

One of the last times Marvel fans saw Vision was when he had been killed by Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War.” The purple supervillain had ripped the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead, killing him instantly before he snapped and turned half the universe into dust. Then Vision was mysteriously reanimated and lived a peaceful, domestic life in “WandaVision” opposite Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch. However, it was slowly unveiled in the miniseries that Wanda was mentally unstable, and the quiet, TV sitcom-inspired life she lived with Vision was all a magical conjuring she had created out of her grief. It’s revealed that Wanda had stolen Vision’s lifeless body from the government organization S.W.O.R.D. and reanimated it with her dark, powerful magic. Wanda’s recreation of Vision had no memories of his former life nor death, and he soon fights a government-controlled, all-white Vision sent to destroy him. The evil White Vision regains all of his previous memories and flies off by himself.

Wanda then reappeared in 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” where she undergoes a heel turn and becomes the film’s main villain. In 2024, Joe Locke (“Heartstopper”) played Wanda and Vision’s son Billy in the “WandaVision” spinoff “Agatha All Along,” starring Kathryn Hahn as the witch Agatha Harkness. That series ended with Agatha and Billy setting off to find Billy’s brother Tommy. It appears that “Vision Quest” will age up Tommy just as “Agatha” did for Billy.

‘Yellowjackets’ Star Sammi Hanratty Tearfully Reacts To Show’s End

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

As the Yellowjackets get one step closer to being rescued, Samantha Hanratty is not quite ready to leave the wilderness.

The actress, who stars as teen Misty in the Showtime series, said she’s “in a mourning process” as she shared a video of her tearful reaction to show creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson announcing to the cast that the fourth season will be its last.

“So, as you can see, we just got the news, and it looks like all of you did too,” she started in a TikTok video. “This is gonna be the final season of Yellowjackets, and I don’t really know how to take it in. Clearly, I’m very emotional, and I know that all good things must come to an end. I’m just extremely, extremely grateful to have been a part of this show.”

Hanratty continued, “I’m kind of in a mourning process at the idea that it’s gonna be over, but I just wanna tell you all how incredibly grateful I am for this show, for the opportunity, for this incredible fanbase, and I promise you, we are going to make this last season so incredibly amazing. And I’m so excited to start working on it.”

The video came shortly after Showtime announced the final season on social media with a statement from Lyle and Nickerson.

“After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” they wrote. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen.”

The duo added, “Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we’re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it…delicious.”

The Season 4 writers’ room for Yellowjackets is open, with production slated to begin in 2026 for a debut on Paramount+ with Showtime later that year. Lyle and Nickerson, who are said to already have an idea about the show’s grand finale, will continue to serve as executive producers and showrunners.

HBO Max First Italy Original 'Portobello': Marco Bellocchio Interview

HBO Max First Italy Original ‘Portobello’: Marco Bellocchio Interview

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

For Portobello, its first Italian original production, HBO Max is taking us back to 1980s Italy and one of the most infamous miscarriages of justice in the country’s history. Legendary Italian auteur Marco Bellocchio (The Traitor, Kidnapped) directed and co-wrote the six-episode series, which tells the story of the downfall and imprisonment of popular TV host Enzo Tortora, an innocent man.

“1982. Enzo Tortora is at the height of his success,” reads a synopsis for the show, whose first two episodes world premiered at the Venice Film Festival before screening at the BFI London Film Festival on Saturday afternoon. “He hosts Portobello, a show reaching 28 million viewers in prime time, where contestants try to make the parrot, the show’s mascot, speak. Tortora is the king of 1980s television, and the president of Italy, Alessandro Pertini, even appoints Tortora Commander of the Republic. During this time, the Irpinia earthquake delivers the final blow to the already fragile balance of the New Organized Camorra criminal organization [that originated in the region of Campania and is one of the oldest and largest criminal organizations in Italy, dating to the 18th century]. Giovanni Pandico, a trusted friend of crime boss Raffaele Cutolo and a regular viewer of Portobello, decides to repent. Interrogated by the judges, he names an unexpected person: Enzo Tortora.”

What follows? “When, on June 17, 1983, the Italian police knock on Tortora’s hotel room, he thinks it’s a mistake, but it is only the beginning of an odyssey that will drag him from the heights to the abyss,” notes the plot summary.

The production by Our Films, a company of the Mediawan group, and Kavac Film, in co-production with ARTE France and in collaboration with Rai Fiction and Fremantle’s The Apartment Pictures, stars Fabrizio Gifuni as Tortora. The series is written by Bellocchio, Stefano Bises, Giordana Mari, and Peppe Fiore, with cinematography by Francesco Di Giacomo.

Portobello will debut in 2026 on HBO Max, where it is available globally, including in upcoming launch markets Italy and the U.K., but excluding France and Germany.

Bellocchio talked to THR, via a translator, about the legacy of the infamous fall of an Italian TV icon and how he enjoyed telling the story for TV rather than film, while maintaining his cinematic style.

Portobello is a true story of police power, failures of the justice system, and the power of media to create and then tear down stars or icons. It is set in the 1980s, but some of the themes may sound familiar to audiences today. Did you ever think about parallels to modern times?

I didn’t think of the fact that it could be timely or contemporary. I was fascinated by this story, which contains aspects that can be considered small or minimal, but also big or high-level elements, such as the fact that it involves the Camorra, involves the justice system, and the Italy of that time, which was already preparing for the Berlusconi era, and in a situation where political parties were already in crisis.

There is this innocent man, but he’s not a saint. This interested me. He’s not a saint, he’s not a hero. This man, however, is kind of forced to take on this role of a hero, which he doesn’t do intentionally, but the injustice against him is so fierce that he, despite his will, becomes a hero. He becomes the herald of the rights of those who suffer injustices in this justice system, which did really everything wrong to him.

There’s so much ambiguity in the character. I am curious how difficult it was for you as a storyteller to convey these layers, these shades of gray. And you have worked with Fabrizio before. Why did you feel he could bring to life this ambiguous personality and character?

As an actor, Fabrizio was certainly the right person. First of all, because he’s an intellectual. He is very highly educated. He’s the son of a judge, so he knew how the judicial system actually worked. Apart from that, he is really an extremely talented actor, and he learns a lot, he studies a lot, he prepares for the character.

He brought exactly this ambiguity I wanted to show because the character has his moral standards, but at the same time, he was worried about defending his own success, the success of his show and his own personal success.

So, I did not want to make it a crusade against the judges, the magistrate who actually made a mistake, which is absolutely impossible to understand. They were completely blind in terms of this case and him. They were not part of any plot or any ploy. They were not accomplices. I’m not saying they were corrupt. They were not part of a ploy, machinery, or anything against him. The only justification that we might mention is the fact that in those years, Camorra was killing maybe a person a day. So the judges were kind of trying to set an example. They were absolutely blind to the situation.

What else do we know about Tortora as a person?

He was not considered a nice person. He was not liked very much. In particular, he was not liked by the left-wing media, because he was not taking any sides, and he was showing off the fact that he was an intellectual a bit, a great or important intellectual. And this was disliked by intellectuals.

Interesting! Did you ever think about making Portobello a movie? And why did you choose a series as the appropriate medium?

Actually, the reason is a very simple one. It is more of a time issue. During the preparation, I was discussing, in particular with the other screenwriters, whether to make this into a movie or to make it into a series. There were moments where we wondered which would be best, but then the idea of making a series out of it prevailed, because there were many, many things that we wanted to tell and wanted people to know, which could not be contained in just one movie. So we decided to make a series out of it.

But clearly, the perspective, the point of view, and the style are those of a film. Many people have told me that they liked the first two episodes, but they would have rather liked to see the whole series. So, basically, the series should all be seen together.

What was the hardest thing to get right about the show and its look and feel?

The most difficult part was highlighting the connections. Portobello at that time was a very, very popular show, which was able to get an audience of up to 28 million viewers, which is something unthinkable today. But at that time, there were no [streaming] platforms. There was nothing else. So for us, it was extremely important to be able to condense the representation of the show, while at the same time also showing what was happening in parallel.

These parallel stories were key. For instance, the members of the Camorra would accuse him, and they were complete liars. They were lying about him. Clearly, this was done a lot during editing, but it also needed to be in the screenplay, in the script. And it needed to be done also from the filming and shooting point of view. You needed to be able to show the things that were running in parallel to be able to show the connections. So, we had to show that Tortora was moving towards the abyss without knowing it.

For example, at that time, there was also the earthquake in Irpinia, one of the coincidences that led the Camorra people to start accusing Tortora because it was convenient for them. They started seeing that this was something that would be to their advantage, so we needed to give time to these details through screenwriting, filming, and editing.

What role does religion play in the series, given that it often seems to play a key role in Italy?

Actually, there are two levels, the conscious and the unconscious level. On the conscious level, in the third episode, there is a scene about Tortora being a non-believer. He was not an activist against religion. On the contrary, he was very tolerant and he had very good relations with the church, with priests and nuns. He wouldn’t say of himself that he was a non-believer or an atheist, but he would say that he was a liberal person. And at that time, in Italy, religion was very strongly present, with the very strong presence of a Catholic party, the Christian Democrats. So, religion was also very present in the background, for example, in the education of people. I’m referring to myself as well. I don’t know whether today young people are being brought up like this, but as far as I’m concerned, for instance, I describe myself as a non-believer, but my way of reasoning, my way of thinking, is still kind of imbued and permeated by my Catholic upbringing.

What will you work on next? Will we see more TV work from you, or will you go back to film?

I would like to make a movie which has already been announced and which is about an Italian but also North American person and character, Sergio Marchionne, who was an industry leader and manager. He was the CEO of Fiat and managed to save the company, which was about to go bankrupt. He gave this company back the energy. I wouldn’t say he resurrected it, because it was nothing religious. It was very materialistic.

He is very interesting because Marchionne was a real capitalist. He believed in capitalism, but not the type of Italian capitalism where there is always a strong reliance on the welfare state, state support, and where you need to reconcile the interests of the weakest people, while at the same time taking into account the interests of what, at the time, were called the owners, the masters, the entrepreneurs. He chose the road of capitalism and went against two giants in the United States, General Motors first, and then Chrysler. And he managed to take over Chrysler.

This was a fearless and courageous person. He was not a very good person. He was not even completely bad, but certainly he was very interesting as a character. So I was offered to make this movie, accepted, and I’m preparing it.

Hallmark’s Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Hallmark Channel star Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe revealed a “scary” major health diagnosis when she shared in an essay that she has stage 3 breast cancer.

In a Friday, October 10 essay for People, the Canadian actress, 44, announced the news and opened up about her cancer journey.

Lowe is best known for the Hallmark TV-movie series Signed, Sealed, Delivered as well as titles like Marry Me at Christmas (2017), Christmas at Holly Lodge (2017), and Flip That Romance (2019). She also notably appeared in Final Destination 3, Center Stage: Turn It Up, and The L Word, among other films.

“In February of 2025, while getting ready one morning, I noticed a large mass in my right breast,” she wrote. “In that moment, everything else fell away.”

Initially, Lowe said she thought she might have sprained a muscle while working. She notified her doctor, who ordered a mammogram and guided ultrasound, but “found nothing.” The mass on her breast was still there months later. However, it had changed location and size.

“I didn’t feel any pain, but my nipple became inverted, so I went back to the doctor,” the mom of two, who shares a 9-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son with her husband, Miko Tomasevich, explained. “The mass measured 10 centimeters. This time, my doctor wasn’t so casual; I was rushed for a blind biopsy. “

Days later, her doctor told her she had invasive carcinoma in one of the ducts in her breast. “I still remember getting off the phone, curling up into a ball, and just bawling,” she recalled.

On October 10, Lowe also took to Instagram to announce her breast cancer diagnosis with a link to her essay.

“Some news to share. I truly hope this helps other people going through this journey right now,” she captioned her update. “It’s been tough but I know I’ll get through it. This is the beginning. Not the end. And if you want to follow my journey I welcome you along.”

Lowe’s Instagram followers flooded her with words of encouragement in the comments, with Tamera Mowry writing, “We love you Crystal 🙏🏽❤️.”

Pretty Little Liars star Janel Parrish shared, “You’re amazing 🤍🤍🤍.:

When Calls the Heart actor Viv Leacock declared, “All that strength, grace and wisdom!!! Cancer picked the wrong one to mess with!!! Love you lots, lil sis!!!”

Heartland actress Cindy Busby commented, “Sending you all my love and healing! ❤️‍🩹 💪🙏💫.”

Meanwhile, another When Calls the Heart star, Pascale Hutton, wrote, “Sending you so much love Crystal. ❤️.”

In her essay, Lowe also detailed her cancer treatment journey so far, which has included chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiation, and “eventually, implants.”

“When I called Annie Howell at Hallmark to tell her the news, I was terrified. What if I never work again? What if they forget me?” she wrote. “But nothing could be further from the truth. Annie and the entire Hallmark family embraced me fully, and told me that they had my back.”

Later, Lowe reflected on her cancer story, writing, “This journey has been scary, strange, and humbling. It has stripped me down in ways I never saw coming, physically, emotionally and spiritually. And yet… I promise to persevere. To turn poison into medicine. To grow. That’s what I’m learning every single day.”

‘After the Hunt’ Writer Nora Garrett: Ending Explained, and Changes

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains spoilers for “After the Hunt,” including its ending.]

Over the course of nearly two hours, Julia Roberts’ character in Luca Guadagnino’s “After the Hunt” really goes through it. When the film, written by first-time screenwriter Nora Garrett, first opens, Roberts’ Yale philosophy professor Alma Imhoff is mostly concerned with a looming decision regarding her tenure at the Ivy League institution. Everything else in her life? It seems sort of great.

And then. As the film unspools, it simultaneously unravels nearly every element of Alma’s life. After a boozy evening at Alma’s, one of her favorite students (Ayo Edibiri as Maggie) accuses one of Alma’s favorite co-workers (Andrew Garfield as Hank) of a heinous crime. As we learn more about Alma’s own background, we watch her react toward both Maggie and Hank (and even her own husband, played by Michael Stuhlbarg) in increasingly alarming ways. Her health suffers. Her work suffers. She crumbles. And when Maggie, distraught over the ways in which her accusations have been weaponized against her, goes to Rolling Stone for a no-holds-barred interview that puts Alma in the crosshairs.

Jafar Panahi and Martin Scorsese

Well, for a little bit. The immediate aftermath of the publication of the interview sees Alma (who has already been denied her tenure, due to her stealing a fellow professor’s prescription pad to procure pain meds, oopsie) surrounded by angry Yale students, stressing her to the point she collapses. She ends up in the hospital, where she reveals the truth of both her ravaged health and a past love affair to her baffled husband, Frederik.

That would be a fine enough place to end the story, and in Garrett’s original screenplay, the final pages only extended that misery. In the draft of the screenplay she first sold to Imagine Entertainment before it landed on Guadagnino’s desk, Frederik actually leaves Alma, who resigns from Yale and then travels home to Sweden.

There, in the original script, she attempts to reconnect with the mother of her father’s deceased best friend (whom Alma had, by her own telling, a life-altering love affair with when she was just a young teenager). After the affair (or, let’s be clear, the abusive relationship) ended, a heartbroken Alma told everyone the man abused her, and even though she later told people she was lying. It eventually led to his suicide. But Alma has never gotten over the man, and considers him the great love of her life. His mother does not show up.

Alma also visits her aging parents and tearfully tells them about said great love affair. Her mom’s advice? No one ever gets over anything. How’s that for Swedish stoicism? Later, Alma returns home to New Haven, and testifies in support of Maggie. C’est fin.

'After The Hunt'
‘After The Hunt’Amazon MGM Studios

But in Guadagnino’s final film, none of that happens. Frederik doesn’t leave Alma. She doesn’t resign from Yale. She doesn’t go home to Sweden. And she sure as hell doesn’t testify for Maggie. Instead, after we see Alma in the hospital, the film jumps ahead five years, only to find that Alma, once the subject of mass derision (on campus and on the internet) is now the dean of Yale.

“So, when Luca first attached, he basically said, ‘OK, I love everything about this film except for the last 20 pages,’” Garrett told IndieWire during a recent interview. “And so, it was immediately right out in the open that he wanted the ending to shift. Partially, because when you think about the reality of how life works, Luca is very intentional and also very committed to truth and reality and verisimilitude.”

The way the director saw it, Garrett said, was that someone like Alma would never just give up, give in, roll over, and run away.

“The idea that someone like Alma, who had been searching her whole life for this, clawing her way towards this, making so many internal sacrifices for this thing, would give it up so easily, felt false to Luca,” Garrett said. “It felt like a very constructed character turn, as opposed to a holistic one. Looking at the world that we have … it’s really hard to let go of your identity, and it’s really hard to let go of everything that’s been bulwarking that identity, just because someone else tells you you have to. He felt like Alma was more of a fighter than that. And so, that’s how we began sort of reconstructing the ending of the film.”

It’s not just that Alma has risen to the highest echelons at Yale, but we also catch up with her on a day in which she’s seeing Maggie for the first time in many years. The pair meet for lunch at the same Indian buffet where we earlier saw Alma and Hank having a fraught interaction. Both women have changed — not just in terms of their careers, but their sartorial choices, which used to be very aligned, all natty blazers and button-up shirts — and they seem happy to see each other, if guarded about the whole thing. Maggie is surprised to hear that Alma is still with Frederik, and Alma marvels over Maggie’s giant engagement ring.

Still, Maggie is clear: She spent a long time waiting to see Alma really taken down a peg. And while that ending existed in Garrett’s original screenplay, it’s just not the case in the final film. Some people don’t get punished for their misdeeds, and they certainly don’t learn from their mistakes.

“I think we’re all being careful not to offer some sort of polemic to people,” the writer said. “But I do feel like, to me, that ending scene feels very much like, ‘Ah, right.’ That is sort of what happens sometimes. Maggie says to Alma, ‘I spent so long wishing for you to fail,’ and I think that the truth of life is that these things we think are going to be seismic and dramatic, they can be internally, but sometimes there’s not quite the one-to-one ratio of retribution that we think is going to be there.”

Amazon/MGM releases “After the Hunt” in limited theaters on Friday, October 10 with a wide release to follow on Friday, October 17.

Comedian Ingrid Guimarães Pivots to Drama With ‘Minha Criança Trans?’

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Ingrid Guimarães, one of the most popular comedic actors in Brazil, is pivoting from blockbuster comedies to drama with “Minha Criança Trans?” (“My Trans Child?” in literal translation). The project is currently in development, with production slated to begin in 2027. Guilherme Coelho and Mariana Ferraz will produce for Matizar Filmes, alongside Guimarães.

Vitrine Filmes, the major independent distributor behind “The Secret Agent,” will handle Brazilian distribution and co-invest in the project’s development.

Guimarães has long been widely bankable in the South American country, and holds the record for the star with the largest national box office of the decade at just over R$23 million (US$4.2 million). The actor, who began her career on television, made a successful move to the big screen with hits such as the “Head Over Heels” franchise and “A Boyfriend For My Wife.” She is currently shooting the Amazon-set comedy “Pé no Chão” for Prime Video Brazil.

“Minha Criança Trans?” will be written by Thamirys Nunes and based on her own experiences of raising a trans child. Nunes’ struggles to find appropriate support — legally and socially — leading her to create the eponymous NGO to help families facing similar issues while raising trans children. A work that blends personal memoir and social reflection, Nunes shares her experience as a mother discovering that her child is transgender, recounting a powerful journey of acceptance, learning, and family transformation.

The film marks a significant turning point in Guimarães’s career, as it is the first time she stars in a drama after over a decade of comedy hits. Speaking with Variety, the star says the story is a “powerful reminder that love transcends labels.” “Bringing it to the screen is both an artistic challenge and a deeply personal mission. It’s my first drama on screen, inspired by something so true, as it is the story of Thamirys.”

“The film promises to offer a fresh and courageous cinematic perspective on gender identity and family, strengthening Brazil’s growing commitment to telling stories that matter,” she adds.

Vitrine Filmes director Letícia Friedrich says the company is proud to be “developing a film that will spark important conversations in Brazil and beyond.” “At Vitrine Filmes, we believe in the power of cinema to spark empathy and drive social change. ‘Minha Criança Trans?’ is a deeply moving story that speaks to the heart of contemporary society. We look forward to sharing it with audiences everywhere.”

Matizar Filmes’s Coelho says it’s an “honor” to produce Guimarães’ landmark first dramatic role. “She will move audiences as a mother who, out of love, must reinvent herself,” with Ferraz adding: “The film explores motherhood, listening, and acceptance with sensitivity and strength, inviting viewers to follow an intimate and transformative journey. We’re thrilled to witness this encounter between a beloved actress and a story that calls for both delicacy and courage.”

‘After The Hunt’s Luca Guadagnino On Film’s Power & Desire Dynamics

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Luca Guadagnino, director of Amazon MGM Studios‘ picture After The Hunt, has revealed what drew him to the debut script of Nora Garrett.

After The Hunt follows a college professor (Julia Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light.

Guadagnino regular Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny also star along with Lío Mehiel, Thaddea Graham, Will Price, Christine Dye, and Burgess Byrd.

Appearing on stage at Deadline’s Contenders London event on Saturday, the Oscar-nominated Italian director said the dynamics of power and desire were appealing to him. He recalled reading Garrett’s script for the first time on a flight.

“It struck me the way in which Nora could bring together a very particular story in a very specific place, and make it a stage for idiosyncrasies and impulses that could speak to everybody,” he explained.

Garrett, an actress who has appeared in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, said it was “difficult to put into words” how grateful she was that Guadagnino took on the project after his previous work on films like Call Me by Your Name and Challengers.

Unpacking the ambition behind the story, she said: “I was really interested in someone who had such a powerful mechanism of self-denialism, and that mechanism is what supported their effort towards external success in a way that was powerful and propulsive, but hampered them in an emotional integrity way.”

Cinematographer Malik Hassan Sayeed said they wanted After the Hunt to feel like it was shot in the 1980s, using a single lens and other technology from that time. “He’s [Guadagnino] very precise and masterful at his craft, and I think it was an amazing pairing for us,” Hassan Sayeed said.

Guadagnino praised casting director Jessica Ronane for her “astonishing” work in balancing a cast that was “so wide and deep.” Roanne said it was a “great responsibility and a great thrill” to work on the movie.

After The Hunt premiered on October 10.

‘Yellowjackets’ Is Ending With Season 4 on Paramount+

The surviving Yellowjackets will have one more season to make it home.

The Paramount+ thriller, produced by Lionsgate TV, will end with its upcoming fourth season, series creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson said in a statement Friday evening (which they also posted on social media). A writers room for the now-final season is open, with production set to start in 2026. A premiere date hasn’t been set.

“After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” Lyle and Nickerson’s statement reads. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen. Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we’re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it … delicious.”

Lyle and Nickerson will continue as showrunners in the final season and are in conversations with Paramount about extending their relationship with the company.

Yellowjackets premiered on Showtime in 2021 and became a word-of-mouth hit as it told the often wild tale of a high school girls’ soccer team surviving the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash in the late 1990s and the present-day stories of those who made it out and tried to put their lives back together. The show’s third season concluded in April, and it scored a renewal — from Paramount+, which has absorbed the Showtime brand as part of its Premium tier — in May.

The series has also scored 10 Emmy nominations so far, including two best drama series nods for seasons one and two.

Lyle and Nickerson had previously said they had envisioned five seasons for Yellowjackets, but Lyle admitted to The Hollywood Reporter following the season three finale that “Any time that you say, ‘We’re going to do five or six seasons,’ that’s a shot in the dark and incredibly wishful thinking, just from a practical standpoint. … We feel that there is more story to tell and we’re really excited to dive into it. As you said, to be able to tell the story of the reassimilation into society, to see what horrors are in store for them even without the horrors of the wilderness is very exciting. But you can never truly predict and we just will be very grateful that we keep getting to tell the story.”

Season three starred Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell. Elijah Wood had a recurring role, and Hilary Swank, Joel McHale and Ashley Sutton guest starred.

Lyle and Nickerson executive produced season three with co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco, Drew Comins of Creative Engine, Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon.
