Mia Goth, Zach Galifianakis and Dan Stevens to Star in ‘Hey Bear’

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

“Portlandia” co-creator Jonathan Krisel is making his feature debut with “Hey Bear,” a bold revenge comedy that will star Mia Goth (“Frankenstein”), Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover trilogy”) and Dan Stevens (“I’m Your Man”).

Penned by Carrie Kemper, the Emmy-winning writer of “Beef,” “Hey Bear” is being pitched as a “coming of rage” story boasting offbeat comedy, about a woman who seeks revenge on the bear that ate her husband. Alix Madigan (“Winter’s Bone”) will produce.

“Hey Bear” will be introduced to buyers at AFM, with HanWay Films handling international sales and WME Independent & UTA Independent Film Group representing North America.

Goth stars as Claire, who “has always led a life solely based on other people’s expectations. Married to Gregory (Dan Stevens), she accommodates his desire to spend his life studying bears in Glacier National Park, even though it means months away from him at a time. During one of her visits, a grizzly bear, nicknamed Mr. Cranky by Gregory, mauls him to death. After being told by the park rangers that Mr. Cranky was euthanised, Claire finds out that the bear has merely been transported to another national park and is living his best life. The usually meek Claire makes up her mind to exact revenge on the bear. She teams up with socially awkward park ranger Putt (Galifianakis) to assassinate Mr. Cranky, but Putt has his own murky motivations for joining her. With death and truth lurking around every tree, Claire’s desperate, grief-fueled mission takes her on an ultimately uplifting journey of empowerment and self-discovery. Set in breath-taking natural scenery, this “coming of rage” story is a darkly comedic rollercoaster ride full of originality and surprise,” the synopsis reads.

“There is nothing more thrilling than coming across a project that breaks barriers in terms of originality. As absurd and crazy as the premise of this story is, you always fully connect and empathise with Claire’s journey as she figures out how out of grief, to take ownership of her life again,” said Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films. “Mia Goth, Dan Stevens and Zach Galifianakis are the dream team to make us laugh, feel, and gasp with shock and horror,” Stewart continued.

Executive producers are Carrie Kemper and Danica Radovanov. Krisel is represented by UTA and Mosaic. Kemper is represented by UTA. Goth is represented by WME, Curtis Brown and Jackoway, Austen. Galifianakis is represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and UTA. Stevens is represented by CAA and Julian Belfrage Associates

written by jummy84

PBS Masterpiece has set Sunday, March 22, 2026 for the U.S. premiere of its new costume drama The Forsytes. All six episodes will be available to stream via the PBS app and PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video and a weekly broadcast on PBS will air Sundays at 9/8c.

An adaptation of John Galsworthy’s Forsyte Saga novels, the drama offers a sweeping portrait of a wealthy British family in 1880s London. It’s led by Francesca Annis (Lillie), who plays matriarch Ann.

Per the official logline: “Desire, ambition and betrayal simmer at the heart of the The Forsytes which chronicles the lives, loves, trials and triumphs of a wealthy Victorian era stockbroking family, whose generations find themselves torn between tradition and self-sacrifice versus personal happiness and the pursuit of love.”

The cast includes Stephen Moyer (True Blood) as Jolyon Forsyte Sr., Jack Davenport (The Morning Show) as James Forsyte, Danny Griffin (Fate: The Winx Saga) as Jo Forsyte Jr., Millie Gibson (Doctor Who) as Irene Heron, Tuppence Middleton (Downton Abbey: A New Era) as Frances Forsyte, Eleanor Tomlinson (One Day) as Louisa Byrne, Joshua Orpin (Titans) as Soames Forsyte and Josette Simon OBE (Anatomy of a Scandal) as Mrs. Ellen Parker Barrington.

Debbie Horsfield (Poldark) penned the adaptation. Executive producers are Debbie Horsfield, Meenu Gaur, Michael Ray, and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, part of ITV Studios; and Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece.

The Forsytes is produced in association with ITV Studios, which handles international distribution, with PBS Distribution handling North American rights.

The series premiered October 20 on UK’s Channel 5. Deadline revealed in June that a second season of The Forsytes was already ordered before its debut in the UK.

SkyShowtime Orders ‘Pionek,’ Continuation of Polish Hit Show ‘Śleboda’

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Crime drama Śleboda (Deadly Ties), streaming service SkyShowtime‘s first locally commissioned Polish original series, which has turned out to be an audience hit, will return for another season under the working title Pionek, the joint venture of Comcast and Paramount Skydance said on Thursday. It will be based on the second novel in the critically acclaimed series of novels by Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński that was adapted for Śleboda.

Pionek, set to start production later this year, marks SkyShowtime’s first Polish recommission and will continue the story of Anka Serafin and Sebastian Strzygoń, with Maria Dębska and Maciej Musiał set to return in the lead roles.

Śleboda quickly became the streamer’s best-performing series in the market to-date, leading SkyShowtime to make it available across all its more than 20 markets. The series revolved around Anka (Dębska), a young anthropologist on a journey of self-discovery, who travels to the beautiful landscape of the Podhale region at the foot of the Tatra mountains only to stumble upon a dead body. She quickly becomes entangled in a murder mystery, crossing paths with Sebastian (Musiał), a shameless journalist on the hunt for a scoop, and Jędrek (Pacek), a local police officer with whom she shared a teenage romance.

Pionek will again be written by Karolina Frankowska and Katarzyna Golenia and directed by Michał Gazda and Bartosz Blaschke. Maciej Lisiecki will serve as the director of cinematography. Magdalena Szwedkowicz (Forgotten Love) and her MAG Entertainment will once again produce the series.

The show joins the streamer’s growing slate of original Polish productions, including The Cop. A New Chapter, and the upcoming first Polish documentary series, Krychowiak: One Step From the Top.

Said SkyShowtime chief content officer Kai Finke: “Following on from the stand-out success of SkyShowtime original Śleboda, we’re incredibly excited to continue the gripping story of Anka Serfain and Sebastian Strzygoń with Pionek, sharing another compelling instalment from Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński’s acclaimed crime series. As our first Polish recommission, Pionek marks a thrilling new chapter for Polish drama on SkyShowtime and reflects our commitment to working with the best creative talent to produce authentic, locally produced storytelling.”

Can you respec in The Outer Worlds 2?

Can you respec in The Outer Worlds 2?

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

If your build in The Outer Worlds 2 isn’t shaping up how you wanted it to, you might be wondering how to respec.

Respecs are part and parcel of many RPGs, letting you change up your build at the click of a button to take your playthrough in a whole other direction.

But can you respec in The Outer Worlds 2? Here’s what you need to know and how to do it.

Can you respec in The Outer Worlds 2? How to respec explained

Yes, you can respec in The Outer Worlds 2, but only once.

At the end of the game’s prologue, after your escape pod is rescued, you’ll have a conversation with Valerie and Niles.

You’ll be checked over for any changes to your abilities following the events of the prologue, giving you two dialogue options.

If you choose the first one – “[Respec.] That’s probably for the best. I do feel a little different” – then the respec menu will open.

When you first create your character, you’re only able to tweak your character’s appearance and background.

At this point, when you have the chance to respec, you will be able to change your traits and skills as well, so it’s well worth having a look at, even if you don’t end up changing much, if anything about your build.

We cannot stress enough that if you do choose to respec here, then you should take your time and choose your build very carefully.

This is the one and only time for the rest of your playthrough that you will be able to respec, so after this, your only option for a whole new build is to start an entirely new game.

Jennifer Affleck and Jan Ravnik —

Jen Affleck & Pro Jan Ravnik Speak Out on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Exit Amid Criticism (Exclusive)

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • Jan Ravnik, a first-time pro partnered with Jen Affleck, was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars amid criticism from former pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who questioned Ravnik’s ballroom credentials.
  • Despite the criticism, Ravnik received strong support from fellow Season 34 pros and celebrities, who praised his growth and contribution to the show.
  • Both Ravnik and Affleck expressed gratitude for their partnership and the supportive DWTS community, with Ravnik addressing the possibility of returning for another season.

Freshman dance pro Jan Ravnik, partnered with Jen Affleck (The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives), was making headlines even before he and Affleck got voted off Dancing With the Stars this week.

Last week, former DWTS pro and Mirrorball winner Maksim Chmerkovskiy appeared on the podcast by his wife, two-time mirror ball champion Peta Murgatroyd, The Penthouse with Peta, stating that Ravnik has “absolutely no business being a pro” on DWTS. Ravnik, whose dance background includes having danced on Taylor Swift‘s Eras tour in 2023 and 2024, was criticized by Chmerkovskiy for not having enough experience or training in ballroom technique, a cornerstone of the reality dance competition series.

Still, Affleck and Ravnik did make it through week 7. On their last night, the couple earned 32 points, dancing a Contemporary to “Look What You Made Me Do” by (ironically) Taylor Swift. The pair picked up an extra two points in the Hustle & Lindy Hop Marathon, taking them to 34 for the night. It was a respectable tally, but, combined with viewer votes, not enough to keep them on in the competition.

“First of all, I want to say that Jan is a great human being,” three-time Mirrorball champion Mark Ballas told TV Insider of Ravnik. “I love him. We’ve had so much fun together. This is hard [work here]. He is an elite dancer. I didn’t make it this far on my first season.” (Ballas, partnered with Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan, went to week 6 in Season 5, his first.)

While Chmerkovskiy’s comments may have been grounded in what he feels DWTS was and should still be, Ballas points that the show “has moved on. It’s evolved. Jan did an incredible job with Jen. Clearly, they made it this far. He’s done so well.”

“Jan had a great first season,” concurs Pasha Pashkov, who is paired with Boy Meets World actress Danielle Fishel. “In most instances when people join the show as pros, I’ve already known them for a long time [from the ballroom dance world]. Jan, I did not know. I met him for the first time at the first rehearsal at the top of the season. I really, really like him. We clicked.”

“We both have similar sense of humor,” Pashkov continues. “We always laugh. We connect. I’m definitely going to miss his energy in the ballroom, but I know he’s going to be killing it out there for the rest of the season in all the other pro dances [that are done on the show].”

“Here’s something I would like to say about Jan,” Fishel says. “There is no doubt that every single pro on this show has improved week after week, season after season. You don’t always come in on your first season hitting home runs week after week. Jan continued to get better. I have nothing but incredible things to say about him. I’m going to miss him and Jen.”

Ezra Sosa, whose first season as a dance pro was just last year, can relate to the challenges that come with being a first-time pro on the popular program.

“[Jan] made it further than I ever could [in my first year],” Sosa, paired with Olympian Jordan Chiles, supportively says. “Honestly, he did such a spectacular job. He really let Jen shine every single week. He should be proud of absolutely everything he did on the ballroom floor.”

Disney/Christopher Willard

“It makes me feel great to hear all this,” Ravnik told TV Insider when he was informed about comments pros and their partners were making about him.

“I couldn’t ask for a better partner,” chimes in Affleck. “Honestly, if I could do this again, I would ask for the same [partner]. We had so much against us, but we still pushed through.”

“They all accepted me into their family,” Ravnik says about the DWTS company welcoming him. “Each week I got support from them. It’s just love. This show is all about love…the people who are in the show – not from people outside the show.”

Is Ravnik up for coming back to DWTS for Season 35? “We’ll see,” he responds. “We’ll see.”

Japanese Anime ‘Killtube’ Brings Dystopian Battle to Tokyo Market

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

An original anime feature set in an alternate 2027 Japan is at the Tokyo Gap-Financing Market, promising a high-octane blend of feudal imagery and futuristic warfare.

“Killtube,” directed by Kuribayashi Kazuaki, takes place in a world where Japan remains under Edo Shogunate rule, transformed into a sprawling metropolis of skyscrapers behind isolationist walls. In this stratified society, citizens are divided into seven status levels that determine every aspect of their lives — from housing to occupation to food rations.

The only escape from predetermined fate comes through “Killtube,” a government-run streaming platform where combatants duel to the death for fortune and freedom. At the story’s center is Musashi, a boy raised by dogs at the bottom of society’s hierarchy, who teams up with Kikuchiyo, a shrewd producer, and Leo, an inventive genius, to fight their way to the top. Their unconventional approach catches the eye of Shogun Ieyasu himself, ultimately forcing them to confront the darker truths beneath their controlled world.

“Within the 90 minutes of the film, I want to paint the feeling of excitement that someone has felt in their life, and to do that, I try to keep that same excitement within myself throughout the process,” Kuribayashi tells Variety. “We would like the audience to feel that sense of excitement and anticipation, and if this original work can reach people across borders and connect with them, that would be a real success for us.”

The production has adopted an unconventional approach that sets it apart from typical anime workflows. “‘Killtube’s identity is built on continuously gathering and integrating ideas from creators across diverse industries,” Kuribayashi explains. “Rather than following a conventional assembly-line workflow, we iterate through idea cycles. The greatest challenge has been maintaining a sense of speed, but we are now at a stage where that flow is becoming firmly established.”

Producer Fujimura Kayane notes that the team completed the screenplay and storyboards in 2025 and has now entered the CG pre-visualization phase. “Because we adopted a unique workflow that required moving back and forth between scriptwriting and storyboarding, we faced some major creative challenges,” Fujimura says. “However, through that process, our team was able to shape a story and characters we are truly proud of.”

Casting is currently underway, bringing fresh momentum to the production. “Hearing the characters come to life through the actors’ voices has given the entire team a renewed sense of excitement and confidence in the project,” Fujimura adds.

For the filmmakers, the Tokyo Gap-Financing Market represents a crucial opportunity to expand the project’s reach beyond Japan. “It’s a very valuable opportunity for us to present ‘Killtube’ to audiences outside Japan,” Fujimura says. “We hope to directly share our vision and explore how people around the world perceive the potential of this project, while building new international relationships and collaborations along the way.”

The production is targeting completion in 2026, with plans for both local and international release. Kuribayashi remains hands-on throughout the process, “deeply involved in checking and directing every part of the production, from animation and recording to background CG and color keys.”

“We aim to release Killt’ube not only in Japan but also to audiences around the world,” Fujimura says. “We’re working hard to make it a film that people everywhere can look forward to.”

‘High Potential’ Pays Tribute To Original Series’ Co-Creator Nicholas Jean

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

High Potential paid tribute to Nicolas Jean during the closing credits of the ABC procedural.

The French screenwriter was one of the co-creators of the series HPI, the original series that inspired the U.S. adaptation starring Kaitlin Olson.

“In Memory of Nicolas Jean,” read the title card at the end of Episode 7 of the series (see below).

It was earlier this month that the French writers’ guild, SACD, announced that Jean had died suddenly on September 29.

“Nicolas Jean entered the industry thirteen years ago and had a meteoric rise. Self-taught, with an atypical background that enriched his fictional stories, he quickly established himself as a talented and essential screenwriter on television,” wrote screenwriter and SACD administrator Florence Philipponnat in a message posted on Instagram.

“He had a gift for freely inventing original concepts, freeing himself from imposed constraints. And he knew how to intelligently surround himself with creative writers to develop them with him, because he was passionate about sharing and generosity.”

HPI: Haut Potential Intellectuel (High Intellectual Potential) was co-created by Nicolas Jean alongside Stéphane Carrié and Alice Chegaray-Breugnot. The series premiered in 2021 and continues producing new episodes. In the U.S., the series is available to stream on Hulu as HIP: High Intellectual Potential.

ABC’s High Potential stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillroy, a single mother with an unconventional knack for solving crimes. The cast of the series also includes Daniel Sunjata (Adam Karadec), Javicia Leslie (Daphne Forrester), Deniz Akdeniz (Oz), Amirah J (Ava Gillroy), Matthew Lamb (Elliot Radovic) and Judy Reyes (Selena Soto). Season 2 of the series added Steve Howey as a series regular playing the precinct’s new captain, Jesse Wagner.

See the title card in memory of Nicolas Jean below.
