‘Blackwater’ Maker Apple Tree Productions To Shutter In 2026

by jummy84 December 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Piv Bernth and Lars Hermann’s Apple Tree Productions will close at the end of 2026, with its founders citing “increasingly difficult” market conditions.

The Danish company was launched in 2017 with backing from ITV Studios (ITVS), with The Killing and The Bridge exec producer Bernth and Hermann, her colleague from DR’s drama division, at the helm at CEO and COO, respectively. It has since made Equinox and Baby Fever for Netflix, Chorus Girls for TV2 in Denmark and Blackwater for Sweden’s SVT and DR.

Apple Tree confirmed the planned closure, which will follow production of two series, Rivals (working title) and The Best of Families.

“The market for making TV series is becoming increasingly difficult in Denmark, and it has become ever more challenging to maintain and build an economically viable business,” said Bernth and Hermann in a statement. “Consequently, we are shifting our focus to concentrate entirely on overseeing the production of our two final drama series, Rivals for TV2 Denmark and The Best of Families for DR and will no longer be developing or producing new series.

“We are very proud of the series we have delivered to our customers and our audiences, and it has been a pleasure to work with all the talented creative filmmakers with whom we have made the series. At the same time, we are deeply grateful for ITV Studios’ support over the years.”

Lisa Perrin, Managing Director International Productions at ITVS added: “Whilst Apple Tree will continue to produce until the end of 2026, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Piv and Lars and their team for all they have achieved since joining us in 2017. They have delivered productions of the highest quality and have been fantastic partners for ITV Studios. We wish them all the best for the future.”

ITV Studios will continue to represent titles from Apple Tree’s catalogue internationally.

‘South Park’ to Finally Deliver the Antichrist in New Episode

by jummy84 December 10, 2025
written by jummy84

The Antichrist is coming — to South Park, that is — when the series returns for what may be its season 28 finale with a brand new episode Wednesday night.

The episode, titled “The Crap Out,” looks to blend the show’s signature irreverence with a dark holiday twist. If the latest season mirrors season 27, this will be the final episode of the five-episode 28th season.

This week’s visit to the Colorado mountain town may be brief, as the logline for the episode is very Stan-centric. Given that this is the season finale, the logic of everything we know about television suggests the episode will feature a birth. But what will happen as Trump has started a clandestine affair with his vice president, J.D. Vance, while Satan gets closer to the due date for their baby together — the Antichrist?

As of this update, President Trump has still not responded to his depiction on the show as a philandering, conniving, vice-president-bedding figure.

“Satan’s due, Stan’s praying, and only a Christmas miracle can deliver the Antichrist on time,” the episode logline provided by Comedy Central reads, signaling another boundary-pushing installment from creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

South Park’s Wednesday night episode continues the ratings-smashing 28th season. The show originally debuted on Comedy Central in 1997. Additional new episodes of the latest season aired on Oct. 29, Nov. 12, Nov. 26 and Dec. 10, according to Comedy Central.

Following its linear debut, the episode will be available to stream on Paramount+ and On Demand through participating TV providers.

Snooker Shoot Out order of play | Wednesday 10th December 2025

by jummy84 December 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Reigning champion Tom Ford begins his Snooker Shoot Out title defence on the opening day of the fast-paced tournament.

A randomised draw, single-frame matches with a 10-minute limit, and a 10/15-second shot clock are among the rule changes that make the format an exciting switch from the norm.

Action moves fast at the three-day ranking tournament, which is back at the Tower Circus in Blackpool after a decade away from the venue.

Ford takes on Martin O’Donnell in the afternoon session, while Masters champion Shaun Murphy, whose 147 in this format in 2023 was truly special, is the highest-ranked player on the table in the evening.

It may not have the history or esteem of the Triple Crown events, but even Snooker purists can’t deny that the shortened format throws up plenty of drama.

RadioTimes.com brings you the daily order of play and full schedule for Snooker Shoot Out 2025.

We’re keeping this page updated with all the latest times and coverage details throughout the course of the tournament.

Reality TV Legend Dr. Will Kirby Talks How He Pulled Off Secret Strategy & Formed Alliances

by jummy84 December 9, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • Dr. Will Kirby used a strategic alliance with real-life doctors to vote off TV doctors on Celebrity Weakest Link.
  • Kirby excelled in the game by answering all but one question correctly.
  • Although retired from competitive reality TV, Kirby expressed interest in trivia-based competitions.

Dr. Will Kirby, of Big Brother and Deal or No Deal Island fame, was one of the eight doctors on the December 8 episode of Celebrity Weakest Link, competing for charity. The reality TV legend came in third place behind Dr. Sandra Lee (Dr. Pimple Popper) and Dr. Dubrow.

He talked about making alliances with the medical doctors and voting off the TV doctors in a plan brought up by him. Kirby got every question, except one, correct, solidifying his place as one of the greatest competition players of all time. Despite forming an alliance with Dr. Lee, she voted him off in the final three because he was “just too good.”

The Big Brother 2 winner, and licensed dermatologist, faced off against Dr. Dubrow, Dr. Lee, Torrey Devitto, Ryan Eggold, Jason George, Hill Harper, and Kal Penn on the season finale. All except the first two played doctors on TV.

Kirby talked with TV Insider about his time on the game show, what was the hardest show he has done, what’s next for him, and more. Will Dr. Will fans see him return to TV? Read on to find out.

You are arguably one of the best gamers of all time. Did you have a strategy going into the Weakest Link? And if so, what was it?

Yeah. I mean, I don’t want to get overly philosophical with you, but I think if you analyze, and I consider myself a student of the genre, I’ve been doing this for a quarter of a century, if you can believe it. But basically, if you look at the way that competitive reality television works these days, I see it in three main categories. There’s shows that have KQ, which is kinetic quotient, and those are shows that require you to be extremely physical, like The Challenge. And then there are shows that you know require EQ, like Big Brother. That type of show requires social interaction, and that’s where people excel. And as I’m moving on in my unscripted reality television career, I’m now focusing more on IQ.

So, my strategy on the show was, obviously, there’s no KQ involved, and there’s a minimal amount of EQ involved. But for me, it was about IQ. I think I wanted to make sure that, first and foremost, I represented myself and my friends and family and job very well, but I just wanted to bring a level of intellect to my personal reality television legacy that people haven’t really seen before, and I think I accomplished that.

Greg Gayne/FOX

At the end of the show, it was revealed that the plan was to vote off all the TV doctors, instead of the real life doctors. Looking back, did you think that you had a better chance going against the TV doctors in the end?

It’s pretty interesting. I had never met Doctor Lee before, or Doctor DuBrow. I had never met them before, but I knew of them. And I had been on Real Housewives of Orange County a few times, but not with Dr Dubrow. Dr. Pimple Popper is a legend in my world, so I knew of her. So, when we arrived, it was unclear as to if we were allowed to go to other people’s trailers and chat with them. But I went over to introduce myself to Dr Lee.

One of the keys in reality television is to plant ideas, but let someone else think that they came up with it. I was just trying to be very friendly with her. And then she said, “Maybe we should work together.” And I said, “What?  I would be all for that. It’s going to be hard to work in pairs in this format. We need a third person we can trust.” So then I went to Dr. Dubrow and introduced myself, and then as the show was about to get started, I said, “Hey, alphabetical order.” And then they knew exactly what I meant, and they were off to the races.

That was hard for me, because I’m a big fan of a lot of the other doctors on there. And in a way, and I’m going to say this as politely as I can, but in a way, it was a little bit unfair, because the actors, and I have nothing but immense respect for that profession. You have to be really, really smart to be an actor, because you have to not just memorize written material, but you have to emote it. And that’s something that doctors do the opposite of. We cut ourselves off from emotions when we’re dealing with patients. It was really coming from two completely different angles. I went into it with a reality television background, knowing that I wanted to use the tools available to me to be competitive. I thought that the actors were going to kind of do that as well, because they all know each other, and they’ve all worked together before. But what I didn’t anticipate was that they’re also just sweet and sensitive, so when they were eliminated, you could tell they were actually kind of hurt. So, I felt really bad about it, because if you go on Survivor or The Amazing Race or Deal or No Deal Island, and you get eliminated, well, that’s the nature of the game. And I just kind of felt bad because they all seemed shocked, and they didn’t catch on until it was too late what we were doing.

You said Dr. Pimple Popper asked her to work with you, but she cut you off at the final three. Did that surprise you?

You know what? I wasn’t surprised at all. I mean, they really didn’t have a choice. She’s a super smart person, and you don’t get to her level or Dr. DuBrow’s level without having that level of just cleverness. So, I went to her, and I said, “Hey, I got you. Do you have me? Like, are we going to do this?” I didn’t want to be too in her face or too aggressive, for fear of her not wanting to be in an alliance. And I could tell she looked at me, and I was like, “Oh, no.” Then I went to Dr. Dubrow, and I was like, “Hey, what do you think about this last round or two, and then it was just hard to read.

So, when I was eliminated, I wasn’t shocked. I mean, I was, of course, disappointed, but it’s the type of show that all you can do is try to answer the questions to the best of your ability, and ironically, as you answer more and more correctly, you’re going to hurt yourself. And so it’s a fascinating format, because you want to do as best as you can from an intellectual perspective, but you also kind of have to hold your cards a little bit so that you don’t appear to be too big a threat. I think what kind of hurt me was that I was doing very well initially, and I truly felt that if I had made it to the final round, I would have really done well. I think they sensed that too.

I take no offense at all, and I wasn’t surprised at all. I’m never surprised, because I’ve been doing this for so long. But number two, in many ways, getting eliminated is flattering. That’s all you can do. Again, it comes down to those three elements: the IQ, EQ, and KQ. I really tried to rely primarily on the IQ, and then secondarily the EQ. You formulate a plan, and you float it out there, but luck is a big part of the competition shows.

You got every question but one, right, so…

Exactly. I think they were a bit intimidated by that.

Was there a certain category going in where you were like, “I really hope I don’t get a question in that?”

I’m a terrible speller. What you will find is that most doctors are. It’s really interesting. Doctors can be very technical and really great with their hands, and I think I’m am that, and some can be very artistic, and I think I’m that. But you’ll find a lot of doctors just really have a terrible command of language and how words are formed. So, I was afraid that there could be some sort of category that involves spelling. History is a terrible category for me, and sports is a terrible category for me. Pop culture, I can excel. Science and medicine, I definitely can excel. I feel very comfortable saying that. But in terms of sports, history, or spelling, those were going to be categories where I was really going to struggle.

You’ve done a lot of reality shows and game shows. Which do you think was the hardest— Weakest Link, Big Brother, or Deal or No Deal Island?

I actually love that you bring up those three in particular, because they go back to representing EQ, IQ, and KQ.. Again, EQ is really Big Brother where it’s socialization. On Deal or No Deal Island, although the emotional quotient is important, the show moved so fast that it was very difficult to build bonds. And then the Weakest Link is IQ.

My favorite is Weakest Link because you show up and some of your heroes are there and you’re competing against them, and it’s just humane and friendly and very fair, and it’s either you know the information, or you don’t. So I absolutely loved that,  but to actually address your question, each of those shows is very different. Big Brother is exceedingly difficult. And I am of the personal opinion that it is by far the most difficult show in the history of reality television, because it’s a marathon. It’s a slow burn.

It is so unbelievably difficult to be comfortable with who you are in this day and age. We live in such a loud world with so much noise. It’s so bright and colorful, and that’s neither good nor bad; it’s just factual. And when you go into the Big Brother house, the fans who watch the show diligently will tell you it is extremely, extremely hard on the human mind. It’s just very difficult. I have a ton of friends who have won Survivor and won The Amazing Race, and won Deal or No Deal Island. And I always tell them, “If you really, really think you’re good at this, go play Big Brother, because it’s just a whole other world in which very few people can excel, right?”

I know you announced your retirement from reality TV on Deal or No Deal Island, but are there any other shows you have not done that you would be interested in?

I’ve been doing this for 25 years, and I’ve had what I would consider to be an epic run. When I first started doing unscripted television, I never thought that a quarter century later I’d still be doing it. I just had such an epic run, and reality television is a young person’s game, at least unscripted television as we know it.

I’m in the sunset of my reality TV career. I’m very comfortable and at peace with that. But, there are two shows I would want to do. My dream is Celebrity Jeopardy!, and the other one is Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. Although if I’m not the best speller, maybe that’s not a good idea. The other one was Celebrity Weakest Link.

Do you have any other projects besides Weakest Link coming up that fans can look forward to?

When I was on Deal or No Deal Island, I officially announced my retirement. Jane Lynch called me out on that, and she absolutely should have, because I announced my retirement, but I should have been more specific. I’m retired from competing in and competitive-based unscripted reality shows. So, being on Survivor, although I would love to do it, it’s just probably not in the cards for me. Or, if Deal or No Deal Island had come back, I probably wouldn’t have done all stars for that. Or, Big Brother, I probably wouldn’t do that. But, when you’re competing in a show that can focus on my talents, which at this point in my reality career is IQ, well, then I’d be remiss if I didn’t really try to participate and win some money for charity.

So I would love to do a Celebrity Weakest Link all-star version, and I know I can do well. You guys saw me. I know pop culture, I know trivia, and my brain works very quickly when I’m in the zone. I don’t have any other active projects right now, but if you put me on Celebrity Jeopardy!, that would fulfill my dream. I have a strategy and just a knowledge base that I think I could really make that an interesting episode.

Letterboxd VOD Platform Video Store Reveals First Films

by jummy84 December 8, 2025
written by jummy84

After years of documenting the viewing habits of cinephiles everywhere, Letterboxd is entering the distribution world. On December 10, the site will launch Video Store, a new VOD platform that allows users to rent a curated selection of movies curated by the Letterboxd team.

With Video Store debuting on Wednesday, Letterboxd has answered some of our questions about the previously announced platform. Video Store will use a transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) model, in which users pay to watch individual movies without any subscription fee. The product will launch in 23 countries, and the app will be available on iOS, Android, web browsers, and a variety of smart TVs.

'Cronos' (1993)

The first nine films will be arranged into two “shelves”: Unreleased Gems, consisting of recent festival favorites that previously did not have distribution; and Lost & Found, which is comprised of previously lost or newly restored classics.

Notable titles include Todd Haynes’ 1991 debut feature “Poison,” Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s “Before We Vanish,” and 2025 SXSW premiere “It Ends.”

“Weʼre incredibly proud of what we and our community have built,ˮ Letterboxd CEO and co-founder Matthew Buchanan said in a statement. “We take their lead, and believe that has been integral to Letterboxdʼs success. They tell us what’s really happening — a 1980s action film suddenly trending, a festival title from two years ago still being added to watchlists.”

He continued, “Video Store lets us act on that real demand, whether itʼs helping a distributor unlock value from a forgotten gem in its vault or giving a filmmaker direct access to the audience theyʼve been building on our platform. Itʼs our way of saying to the industry: letʼs harness this interest to get films to the people who want them most.ˮ

Keep reading for the full slate of titles launching on Video Store, with language provided by Letterboxd.

UNRELEASED GEMS

“Sore: A Wife from the Future” (2025) – Director Yandy Laurens’ inventive time-loop sci-fi romance about a woman who travels back in time to change her husband’s destiny received eight nominations at the 2025 Indonesian Film Festival, including Best Picture, and has been selected as Indonesia’s submission for the Best International Feature Film for the upcoming Academy Awards.

“Kennedy” (2023) – Anurag Kashyap’s neo-noir thriller following a presumed-dead insomniac ex-cop seeking redemption in Mumbai’s dark streets premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, going on to screen at over twenty international festivals.

LOST & FOUND

“Tiger on the Beat” (1988) – This legendary 1988 action-comedy starring Chow Yun-Fat and directed by Lau Kar-Leung remains a beloved classic of Hong Kong cinema. For most of the world, this is the first opportunity to see the new 4K restoration—a digital exclusive to Letterboxd at launch.

“Kisapmata” (1981) – Considered one of the greatest Filipino films of all time, Mike de Leon’s masterpiece about a young woman living under her domineering father’s suffocating control won ten awards at the 1981 Metro Manila Film Festival including Best Film and screened at Cannes. This brand new 4K restoration premieres digitally, celebrating the late director’s uncompromising vision that faced censorship under the Marcos regime.

“It Must Be Heaven” (2019) – This comedy won both the Special Mention from the Main Competition Jury and FIPRESCI Prize at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, but its theatrical release was delayed for over a year due to the pandemic, limiting its reach despite widespread praise. . Suleiman’s distinctive visual satire continues his acclaimed tradition of observational comedy that speaks to universal themes of displacement and belonging.

“Poison” (1991) – This groundbreaking film won the Grand Jury Prize at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival and became a lightning rod in the culture wars, with conservative politicians attempting to defund the NEA over its support. The first feature from future Oscar nominee Todd Haynes established him as a fearless voice in independent cinema.

“Before We Vanish” (2017) – Based on a cult Japanese stage play, master filmmaker Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s alien invasion story screened in Un Certain Regard at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, showcasing the acclaimed director’s distinctive take on the genre.

Andy Muschietti on the Black Spot Scene

by jummy84 December 8, 2025
written by jummy84

SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers from Season 1, Episode 7 of “It: Welcome to Derry,” now streaming on HBO Max.

If there was ever any speculation that the horrors explored in HBO’s “It: Welcome to Derry” were purely supernatural, Episode 7 put those questions to rest. After a flashback cold open that shows the origins of Pennywise the Clown (Bill Skarsgård), the episode picks up where the previous one left off, with a gun-wielding, mask-wearing mob of the eponymous town’s white citizens infiltrating the Black Spot: a hangout for the Black soldiers on Derry’s military base, and a hideout for the town’s falsely accused fugitive, Hank Grogan (Stephen Rider).

The white mob breaks into the Black Spot looking for Grogan, and a standoff ensues when the club’s patrons draw their own guns. The tension is briefly broken when the mob lowers their weapons and retreats, but the relief is temporary, as they lock the doors from the outside, throw Molotov cocktails into the building and riddle its walls with bullets.

The shoot-off continues as the Black Spot burns down with dozens of people inside — many of them central characters in the series, including most of the main ensemble of children. It is a raw and violent sequence, expanded upon from a brief chapter in Stephen King’s original “It” novel.

Courtesy of HBO

As it is in the novel, the scene showcases the grounded horrors taking place in Derry, but they are made even more eerie by the ghostly apparitions that soon crowd the massacre. Because Pennywise feeds on the town’s fear, he obviously shows up amid the terrifying event. Meanwhile, because the telekinetic Dick Hallorann (Chris Chalk) is present in the fire, he witnesses hordes of spirits appear as ill-fated souls enter the afterlife all around him.

It’s a fusion of real and metaphorical terrors that come together in a harrowingly powerful scene that elevates “Welcome to Derry” to new heights. Variety caught up with the series’ executive producer and Episode 7 director Andy Muschietti over email to talk about his artistic and thematic approach to the show’s most impactful scene yet.

The massacre at the Black Spot is a small, but memorable part of Stephen King’s “It” novel. Did you always anticipate adapting and expanding upon it as a pivotal part of “Welcome to Derry”?

In the big ocean that is the book, the Black Spot seems small, but it’s actually a very substantial event in the interludes. Since we’re basing the show on the interludes, we really wanted to show the events of the Black Spot and use it as a guideline. Apart from a dramatic low point, it is a guideline that leads our characters towards a catastrophic conclusion, or, if not a conclusion, a big pivotal point in the story.

How did you decide on the suspenseful pacing of the scene, having the stand-off followed by brief relief before the horrors begin?

I wanted to do justice to the book in terms of the horror and the atrocities that are experienced. I wanted to not only create tension and suspense on the build up, but also when the whole thing goes off. We wanted to create the impression that we are locked inside with the rest of the people. That’s why the perspective doesn’t leave the room. There is a bit of a oner that basically follows several characters as the panic spreads with the fire. It’s a really tough scene to watch and was a very tough scene to shoot, but I really wanted to stay true to the intensity of that part of the book.

Courtesy of HBO

How much of the set design was practical and how much was digital? Of course, people weren’t actually getting burned, but did you use any real fire? Did you actually destroy the Black Spot set?

The burning of the Black Spot happened mainly on two big sets. One of them is the set of the Black Spot where we shot several scenes before. The second one is a more open place used for the part where chaos prevails and everything is on fire. I wanted to create confusion. I wanted to put the audience in the driver’s seat of that catastrophe and give the impression that you are lost and you don’t know where the door is.

That second part was shot in a place that didn’t have walls. For all the running, all the confusion, all the mayhem that you see, I wanted to create a place where you couldn’t recognize anything. It’s curious, because set No. 1 and set No. 2 are sort of fused in one of the shots. You can actually see it if you pay attention; you can see how we go from the set to a place that is engulfed in flames. There was practical fire, but we could not put actors in harm’s way, so a lot of it is not practical. Following the safety regulations, we used practical fire for stuff in the foreground and in the distance. The rest is made in post-production. Regarding the general performance, we had our actors perform as if they are struggling in these conditions, but also we had a bunch of background performers that were stunt-trained special performers.

How do you approach directing a kinetic scene like this, where there are lots of people reacting chaotically? Do you allow people to improvise, or are you choreographing every individual?

It was a challenging sequence to film, because you’re trying to convey chaos and panic and a lack of control. But of course, you had to choreograph every single second of it, and that’s what we did. The choreography took us probably two days of designing the whole sequence. The oner was a very challenging shot to achieve, because it basically starts with the first Molotov cocktail that sets the fire. Then people panic. They start running in all directions and the camera has to follow certain characters and then transition towards the action of other characters and then pan out to the ceiling, where it’s on fire before we fall back and someone takes us to another corner. It was an interesting challenge to execute. Everybody had to be on point. We had the camera department, the cast, special effects and stunt teams all working to make this incredibly complex scene. It’s very choreographed, but it had to look real and chaotic. I think the chaos was achieved. And I’m very proud of all of what we did there. Everything that needed to be choreographed was choreographed. Even in the background, people knew what they had to do.

Of course, there are moments of improvisation. Because it’s a scene with heightened emotion, people do things that were not planned. There were things that didn’t happen as expected, but then everything fell back in line. It’s a great thing about making movies: accidents happen. I don’t mean accidents like something bad happens, but something unexpected. There was a lot of that.

How long did the sequence take to film?

It took us like four or five days to shoot. It wasn’t easy.

What do you think audiences will take away from this scene within the broader series?

We shot this in a very visceral way. It’s a very first person experience. We wanted to get the audience to feel what being trapped in this place would be like. Dramatically, that was the intent. Thematically, we wanted to convey the idea that the worst things that happen in this world are often caused by us humans and that we are capable of inflicting pain and hate and horror in each other, just as much or more than the monster is.

Documentary Not As Hard To Watch As You Fear

by jummy84 December 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Dog Warriors is about South Korean markets that sell dog meat. It explores the dog farms that slaughter the animals in inhumane ways. And yet, director Andrew Abrahams assures viewers the film is not as traumatizing as the description makes it sound. At Deadline’s Contenders Documentary event, Abrahams told Matt Carey how he balanced presenting the subject matter so that viewers would actually stick with the film and learn about the issue.

“On one hand, we want to show the reality,” Abrahams said. “On the other hand, we don’t want to scare people away. One of the principal issues around this film is that people love dogs so much that they don’t want to see them suffering. Even the thought of them suffering is too, it’s almost too much for them. They can see people being killed or other animals, but dogs, it’s way too close to home.”

Abrahams said he did take out some of the goriest scenes he captured. Nevertheless, the subject matter makes it a hard sell.

“We get a lot of people who are afraid to see the film, and we hear that a lot,” Abrahams said. “We’ve heard that from distributors, even — that they’re afraid that people will be afraid to see the film. I call it ‘the must-see film you thought you couldn’t watch,’ that it’s something that you’re afraid of watching, but it’s not that difficult to get through.”

Your mileage may vary, however.

“I did see it at a film festival recently,” Abrahams said. “Somebody walked out of the film at one particularly more difficult section.”

RELATED: Contenders Documentary — Deadline’s Complete Coverage

Janette Warren alerted Abrahams to the practice. He wanted to make a film to make viewers aware about it, but did not just want to make “an issue film.” A group of combat veterans aiming to save as many dogs as possible proved a way in.

“I don’t wanna make advocacy films,” Abrahams said. “I like that a film is nuanced. I want the viewer to come away to make their own decisions. I want them to struggle with the complexities of an issue. As much as it’s sort of clear where my sympathies lie, my sympathies also lie with the dog meat farmers. This has been their trade for their whole life. They don’t know anything different. So it will affect their livelihoods. I have sympathy for that. It’s not black and white.”

As Dog Warriors is released into the world following its premiere at the 2024 Raindance Film Festival, things are changing in South Korea. Independent of the film’s subjects, the government has banned the sale and consumption of dog meat, which will go into effect in 2027.

“There’s a lot of pushback from the Dog Meat Association,” Abrahams said. “They’re threatening to cause all sorts of mayhem if that law goes through. But it did pass. It didn’t happen because of our veterans, although we’d like to think they played a part, that all the people came together to make that change happen.”

Melissa McCarthy Gets Engulfed by a Snowstorm on Saturday Night Live

by jummy84 December 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Melissa McCarthy got Saturday Night Live in the holiday spirit with a festive opening monologue, where she was toppled by a huge faux snowstorm.

After a few weeks off air, the two-time Oscar nominee began the episode by celebrating how “great” it was to be back for her sixth time hosting the sketch comedy series. Marking the first episode to air in the month of December, McCarthy also commemorated it being “a special time of the year.”

“It’s about family and friends and classic Christmas music. Come on, set the mood, gang,” she said as music began playing in the background. The actress then went on to show off her talents as a musician, one that plays the “mouth horn.”

“Speaking of music, there’s something most people don’t know about me, and it’s that I am a musician. And my instrument is the mouth horn. That’s right, it’s the mouth horn,” she said before she began humming the tune of “Carol of the Bells.”

McCarthy continued to rave about the holiday season, noting that she “love[s] this time of year,” going on to list a few reasons why: “The tree is lit, and Santa’s checking his lists. He’s got naughty and nice, and Epstein.”

“We could all use a little Christmas magic. So how about we put a little bit of snow to get us in the holiday mood?” she said as a string of flurries fell down around her on-set. “This is SNL, Don’t be stingy with the snow!”

The snowfall began lightly, but quickly picked up, as a wave of snow fell on top of the Little Mermaid star, engulfing her with a faux snowstorm. “Okay, that was way too much,” she exclaimed as she went on to continue the monologue, where Marcello Hernandez joined her on-stage to prompt a “piano duet.”

The SNL cast member wheeled a piano into the frame, where he accidentally pushed McCarthy out of said frame as the two bickered back and forth. Hernandez set the piano into place, as the actress joked that he dropped it on her fingers.

“Now I’ve ruined Christmas,” she said, though Kenan Thompson assured her she did not sour the occasion.

“Oh, nonsense, Melissa McCarthy. Come on, you haven’t ruined Christmas at all. Everyone here loves you,” he said. “Now why don’t we do one of your favorite Christmas songs?”

“You want me to sing?” the actress asked, as Thompson responded, “No, no. I want you to blow that sweet horn.” McCarthy then mumbled the melody of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” while a few additional SNL cast members joined her to sing and dance.

Earlier in the night, Colin Jost began the cold open by portraying Pete Hegseth, who was asked by a journalist if there was “any truth to the allegations that after an initial strike on a drug smuggling boat, you ordered a second strike to kill the survivors?”

“First of all, that kind of cruel, heartless act has no place in operation Kill Everybody,” he replied. “Second, I wasn’t in the room when it happened, okay? I was so jacked up after the first strike I had to make an emergency call to my sponsor — I’m sorry, a guy at an anonymous meeting — so I don’t drink something that I like and I want but I can’t have, but I want it, and I need it and I want it right now. It’s booze.”

James Austin Johnson joined the cold open as Trump, who showed his support for Hegseth.

“We love Pete. He’s a great guy. He’s just fog of war, right? Fog of war. It’s a thing you only say after doing war crime, right? You never hear a general go, ‘Everything went according to plan in fog of war.’ It’s like when you go into the sauna at Equinox and suddenly you’re doing stuff you never did before,” Johnson’s Trump said. “Fog of War, we love it. It’s a great new excuse, we love it. So I stand by Pete, and nothing can change my mind less. Unless of course, it could hurt me in any way, in which case, I’ll throw him under one of Mamdani’s free buses.”

McCarthy served as the first SNL host of December, alongside Dijon as musical guest. Saturday night marked her sixth time leading the show, though she’s made several cameos over the years.

There are two more SNL shows left for 2025, with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery star Josh O’Connor set to make his hosting debut on Dec. 13, with Lily Allen as musical guest. Ariana Grande will be the final host of the year, with none other than Cher as the Dec. 20 musical guest, making her first appearance on the sketch comedy show since 1987.

Season 51 has already aired six episodes, as Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler, Sabrina Carpenter, Miles Teller, Nikki Glaser and Glen Powell all took turns in the leading role.

Derby v Leicester Championship TV channel, live stream, kick-off time

by jummy84 December 6, 2025
written by jummy84

East Midlands rivals Derby County and Leicester City face off in the Championship on Saturday.

Though both clubs consider Nottingham Forest their main rivals, there is little love lost between the two neighbours and both will be desperate to secure the bragging rights.

Two defeats in their last three games has dented Derby’s momentum but John Eustace’s side are looking up not down as they hunt the play-off places.

Things look a little more grim for Leicester, who have lost two on the bounce and are expected to have their cushion over the relegation zone cut by an impending points deduction.

Summer appointment Marti Cifuentes has been unable to really make his mark but the feeling is that the issues at the club run much deeper.

RadioTimes.com has rounded up everything you need to know about how to watch Derby v Leicester on TV and online.
