Domingo Returns to SNL with Sketch Spoofing Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia”

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

With Sabrina Carpenter pulling double duty as host and musical guest on this week’s episode, SNL wasted no time bringing back Domingo, Kelsey, and crew. One of the show’s most popular recurring sketches returned for its fourth installment during the cold open, as the Kelsquad crashed Matt’s 30th birthday party to share stories from a recent trip his wife took to Nashville in search of “the most magical birthday present.”

As fate would have it — and as the Kelsquad recounted in song, set to spoofs of Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” and Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” — Marcello Hernandez’s Domingo just so happened to be in Nashville at the very same time.

A Day in the Life of…All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Alex Gaskarth, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for pop-punk band All Time Low, says the group’s new album, Everyone’s Talking, out October 17, was inspired by the 20th anniversary shows they were playing in 2024. “There was such an outpouring of love and support from the fans, and that invigorated us to start writing new material,” he says. “We were impassioned.”

The release of their newest record makes 10 albums in 20 years, roughly an album every two years, an accomplishment many recording artists are unable to achieve.

Formed when Gaskarth and lead guitarist Jack Barakat were in eighth grade in Towson, Maryland, the group took its name from the New Found Glory song, “Head On Collision,” which was, as Gaskarth admits, “the best sounding band name on a list of pretty mediocre potential band names.” As Gaskarth and Barakat both learned guitar and jammed in the comfort of each other’s bedrooms and parents’ basements over the next couple of years, they met drummer Rian Dawson. “At that point, it really started to feel like we had a band, so naturally we needed a bass player.” Eventually, Zack Merrick joined on bass.

All Time Low released their debut EP, The Three Words to Remember in Dealing with the End EP, in 2004, followed by The Party Scene in 2005, the band’s first album.

They were still in high school.

“Between Homecoming and Algebra 2, I guess we fit in some band practice,” Gaskarth says.

Once they graduated, Gaskarth and his bandmates focused their energy full-time on the band, releasing their next album, So Wrong, It’s Right, in 2007, followed by the group’s first tour in 2008.

While So Wrong, It’s Right wasn’t necessarily a commercial success, it produced the fan-favorite song, “Dear Maria, Count Me In.”

It wasn’t until they released their third album, Nothing Personal, in 2009, that the band began to see widespread fame, with the album selling 63,000 copies in its first week and debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

All Time Low continued churning out records over the years, all with varying degrees of success. 2020’s Wake Up Sunshine, however, marked the release of the album’s fourth single, “Monsters,” featuring singer-songwriter-producer Blackbear, which became the highest-charting song of the band’s career.

Now, with Everyone’s Talking, Gaskarth says that the new album is a nod to the marketing process and “the need to drum up a groundswell to get people paying attention again.”

Two years can be an eternity in the lifespan of a band, invoking a need to stay relevant in whichever way it can. After 20 years, All Time Low has been able to achieve that. But Gaskarth says that staying relevant is only part of being successful; it’s also about “recognizing that as a human being, you’re putting yourself through his public tumble-dryer every time you step into the spotlight. The whole album wrestles with those themes. It’s an exploration of self within the context of being in a band for 20 years.”

Here’s a Day in the Life of All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth.

Date (when you are writing this)  September 23, 2025

Time I woke up  8:00 a.m.

Every day starts with  A series of yawns followed by some doom-scrolling, mild existential dread, and then a vast appreciation for another day on this planet.

Breakfast consists of  Today it was a crappy coffee from a highway truckstop, an energy bar, and half a chocolate glazed donut. But I swear, usually it’s way more chic, healthy, and mindful.

To get going I always listen to  Prince.

I don’t feel dressed without  A hoodie and a hat with the brim pulled down for that low-key stealth vibe where it feels like maybe I’m still in the womb.

Before I start working I must  Endure.

Currently working on  Finding a place to do laundry.

But I’d really love to be Finding a place where someone else will do my laundry.

Book I’m reading  Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson.

I don’t know how anyone ever  Makes it through a day without at least one little sweet treat.

If I had to play one album on repeat, it would be  Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon.

The perfect midday consists of  A second (or third) coffee and a really good sandwich.

To help get through the day  The sound of a loved one’s voice.

Not a day goes by without speaking to  My wife.

My daydreams consist of  Ambition, longing, whimsy, faraway places, a really good slice of pizza.

I’ll always fight for  Trying to do the right thing.

Currently in love with  Small, potted succulents.

Hoping to make time to watch  The next sunset.

By my bedside I always have An unopened sparkling water that I forget to drink.

To help get through the night  A small amount of THC.When I think about tomorrow I hope for a better future for all the lovely people.

Stan Getz / João Gilberto: Getz/Gilberto Album Review

Stan Getz / João Gilberto: Getz/Gilberto Album Review

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

At a 1976 concert featuring American saxophone superstar Stan Getz and Brazilian singer and guitarist João Gilberto, Getz welcomed his partner to the stage in a tone of voice that reveals just how gobsmacked he remained by his genius. “The most individual singer of our time, a true originator,” he enthused. “His curious ability to sing warmly without a vibrato, his impeccable and inimitable rhythmic sense, his intimacy, all coupled to his wonderful guitar work, make him unique.” If that sounds dry, Miles Davis put it so: “Gilberto could sound seductive reading aloud from the Wall Street Journal.”

Despite being in close proximity to João Gilberto for over a decade by that point—onstage and in the studio—Getz is forever mystified by Gilberto: his voice, his attenuated pitch, his rhythmic sense, the space within the music that he birthed, bossa nova. And in a decade of increasingly louder and louder musical revolutions, Gilberto sat at the center of the most hushed one of all, now mistakenly perceived as quaint elevator music instead of the sophisticated and subtle paradigm shift that bossa nova actually was, a marriage between Afro-Brazilian rhythm and intricate Eurocentric harmonic concepts.

In 1964, Getz and Gilberto brought bossa nova to the American masses with their collaborative album Getz/Gilberto, and then the rest of the world, though everyone was well behind what had already transpired in Brazil—the modern equivalent of finding out the hottest sound in China is “Old Town Road”. When Gilberto cut his first solo record, Chega De Saudade, in Brazil in 1959, it ignited a flame in that country, a revolution in samba that completely transformed Brazilian music. “The kids could see themselves in that music,” Ruy Castro noted in his history of the music, Bossa Nova. Gilberto was an enigmatic singer, a subtle rhythmic player, and a lowkey guitar god, inspiring a new generation to sing and pick up a guitar, while gratefully also ending Brazil’s national obsession with the accordion. At home, Gilberto was an icon. “I owe João Gilberto everything I am today,” Caetano Veloso said. “Even if I were something else and not a musician, I would say that I owe him everything.”

Louis Tomlinson says he will “forever despise” Logan Paul over controversial Liam Payne interview

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Louis Tomlinson has said that he will “forever despise” Logan Paul over his divisive interview with Liam Payne.

  • READ MORE: Liam Payne 1993-2024: One Direction star who helped spark a pop phenomenon

Payne appeared on YouTuber Paul’s Impaulsive series in June 2022 and made headlines for a slew of controversial comments about his time in One Direction, including claiming that one of his bandmates had thrown him “up a wall” during an argument.

He also said that there were “many reasons why I dislike Zayn [Malik]”, and that Simon Cowell formed the group around him as the lead member. His comments were met with criticism, with Payne accused of being “arrogant”.

A year after appearing on the podcast, Payne apologised for his words, saying it was “hard for me to watch back” and that he hadn’t realised how much “impact” his words would have. He also revealed that he had spent 100 days in rehab after the interview.

Payne passed away in October 2024 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following his death, the interview recirculated, with fans looking at his words in a new light, considering his struggles with his mental health.

Now, his former bandmate Tomlinson has addressed the podcast. Speaking in a new interview with the Independent, he said: “I fucking forever despise [Logan Paul], horrible, horrible little fucker.”

He added, “I think that’s also the problem with some of this new ‘media’… I would like to think most journalists,” before correcting himself and saying, “some journalists have a duty of care.”

Tomlinson went on to clarify Payne’s claim that he was the lead member of the group, saying it was true. “It was, definitely,” he says. “It was definitely a role that was assigned to him. That is the truth.”

Addressing the podcast in 2023, Payne said that his words had come from “self-protection”, but that “the rest of the boys really stuck by me when I needed them most, they kinda came to the rescue”.

“Even Zayn, as well,” he added, “which is why I did send him a little thank you online. It came across really big-headed didn’t it?”

He added at the time: “I think, for me, a lot of what I said just came from the wrong place. I was so angry at what was going on around me. Instead of taking a look inwards, I decided to look outwards at everybody else.

“I just took it out on everybody else, which is just wrong, really, and my own frustrations with my own career and where I landed – I took shots at everybody else and that was wrong so I just wanna apologise for that in the first instance.”

Payne’s former bandmates – Tomlinson, Malik, Harry Styles and Niall Horan – all paid tribute to Payne in a statement following his death, while each band member also took to their social media accounts to pay their respects.

Tomlinson has recently addressed Payne’s death and said it was “impossibly difficult for him to deal with”.

Elsewhere, Tomlinson and Malik recently announced that they are set to reunite for a new Netflix documentary series.

The former also recently announced his third studio album ‘How Did I Get Here?’, which will be released on January 23 and you can pre-order here along with a 2026 arena tour which will see him play around the UK and Europe next year. You can see all the dates here, while tickets go on general sale on Friday (October 10) here.

Sabrina Carpenter Performs ‘Manchild,’ ‘Nobody’s Son’

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

The pop star plays the lead single and another track from her latest album, Man’s Best Friend

Two-time Saturday Night Live musical guest Sabrina Carpenter—also the host of Saturday’s show—performed two tracks from her seventh and latest album, Man’s Best Friend.

Carpenter opened with the lead single “Manchild,” which she co-wrote with Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen. The pop star, who graced Rolling Stone‘s July-August cover, quipped to us when asked if it’s about anyone in particular: “It’s about your dad.”

Carpenter’s second song was “Nobody’s Son.” The reggae-pop tune—sixth on the track list—was co-written by Carpenter, Allen and John Ryan.

About Man’s Best Friend, which hit the top spot on the US Billboard 200 shortly after its late August release, Rolling Stone‘s Brittany Spanos wrote in a positive review: “Her new songs are united in their grooviness as Carpenter’s heartbreak and disappointment in her male options takes her on a thoroughly modern tour of what dating, embracing, and then flipping the script on the humiliation ritual that is being a woman who dates men.”

Trending Stories

Carpenter debuted on SNL in May 2024. During the season 49 finale, she performed her hit single “Espresso,” which she would later include on her album Short n’ Sweet, as well as a medley of two songs from 2022’s Emails I Can’t Send. The singer-actress was last in Studio 8H in February during the 50th anniversary special, joining Paul Simon for a rendition of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound.”

Carpenter will be back in New York next week as she hits the home stretch of her Short n’ Sweet tour. After that, she’ll be in Nashville, Toronto, and then Los Angeles.

Limp Bizkit Co-Founder, Bassist Dies at 48

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Sam Rivers, longtime bass player and a founding member of Limp Bizkit, has died. He was 48.

The band (Fred Durst, Wes Borland, John Otto and DJ Lethal) revealed the news of Rivers’ death Saturday night (Oct. 18) in a tribute to the musician titled “In Loving Memory of Our Brother, Sam Rivers,” in a post on Instagram.

“Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat,” Limp Bizkit wrote on Saturday of Rivers, who was born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1977 and was one third of the original formation of Limp Bizkit in 1994, alongside vocalist Durst and drummer Otto. (Borland and DJ Lethal joined in 1996.)

“Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic,” his band members said. “The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound. From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.”

Their statement continued: “We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every one of them meant more because Sam was there. He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human. A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory. We love you, Sam. We’ll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends.”

DJ Lethal left an additional comment on Instagram, writing, “We love you Sam Rivers. Please respect the family’s privacy at this moment. Give Sam his flowers and play Sam Rivers basslines all day! We are in shock. Rest in power my brother! You will live on through your music and the lives you helped save with your music, charity work and friendships. We are heartbroken. Enjoy every millisecond of life. It’s not guaranteed.”

Rivers’ cause of death has not been revealed.

He was diagnosed with liver disease in 2011 and received a liver transplant in 2017. Within this time period, he took a short hiatus from his work with Limp Bizkit — but was back with the band by 2018.

Limp Bizkit’s breakthrough came with the nu-metal band’s 1997 debut album, Three Dollar Bill, Y’all — featuring their cover version of George Michael’s “Faith,” which picked up radio airplay and had a music video in rotation on MTV and the network’s then-popular TRL (Total Request Live). But it was their 1999 sophomore album Significant Other that reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the first time, and the set received three Grammy nominations — in the categories of best rock album and best hard rock performance (for their hit “Nookie,” as well as album track “Take a Look Around”). They’d have another Billboard 200 No. 1 with the 2000 album Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water.

To date Limp Bizkit has released a total of six full-length studio albums, with the most recent being 2021’s Still Sucks.

Limp Bizkit recently returned to No. 1 on a Billboard chart for the first time since 2011. The single “Making Love to Morgan Wallen” debuted atop Hot Hard Rock Songs, Alternative Digital Song Sales and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales the week of Sept. 27, 2025.

Sabrina Carpenter Performs “Manchild” in Campy SNL Bedroom Set

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Pulling double duty as host and musical guest on this week’s Saturday Night Live, Sabrina Carpenter staged a pair of instantly iconic performances in support of her latest album, Man’s Best Friend.

Carpenter first performed “Manchild” on a bedroom-themed set, dressed in SNL-branded pajamas, and singing into a hairbrush like a microphone. Leaning into the song’s tongue-in-cheek spirit — a playful takedown of a man who looks grown but still acts like a boy — she fully embraced the camp, turning the stage into a sleepover fantasy complete with exaggerated choreography, dramatic camera winks, and tongue-in-cheek theatrics that brought the track’s biting humor and empowering message to life. There was even an homage to the Cameron Diaz’s mirror dance scene in Charlie’s Angels.

Later in the episode, she delivered the live debut of “Nobody’s Son,” complete with choreography inspired by a karate dojo.

Elsewhere during her hosted episode of SNL, she reprised her role in Kelsey’s crew for a new Domino sketch, starred in a horror-themed movie trailer about a couple who suddenly found themselves with plans, interviewed Donald Trump as a host of the Snack Homies podcast, hocked a provocativew neck pillow on QVC, and was Bowen Yang’s date for a school dance. Check out the highlights below.

Carpenter is set to head out on the latest fall leg of her “Short n’ Sweet Tour” later this month. Tickets can be purchased here.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without: Anton Newcombe of the Brian Jonestown Massacre

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Name  Anton Newcombe

Current City  I live in Berlin and have my studio [there].

Really want to be in  I’m one of those people that looks at property listings in Sweden and Norway on the ocean or lakes and thinks, “I could afford this…I don’t need people.”

Excited about  I’m excited to finish our tour; Canada, U.S.A., Mexico, then South America. Then I have a three month break before Australia and New Zealand. It is my hope that I bag a new album in my downtime.

My current music collection has a lot of  Scratched albums. But truthfully, I have eclectic tastes.

And a little bit of  That’s an interesting boomerang being that I have a giant collection that’s all over the map. I guess the little bit would be new releases.

Preferred format  I like vinyl, I wish the neighbors felt the same. I like the 20-minute-per-side format. It’s perfect.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

1

Approach to Anima, Maya Ongaku

A friend invited me out to see them here in Berlin, they are from Japan and honestly renewed my faith in music in the way that live music can. Honestly a cross between Kraftwerk, Sigur Rós, Air and maybe a touch of spacey Pink Floyd; very analog, very real. Amazing group.

2

Inspiración, Ara Tokatlian, Enrique Villegas, Guillermo Bordarampé

If you are interested in far-out spiritual jazz like Coltrane and Sanders this record is for you; a most excellent selection from 1975.

3

Brigitte Fontaine Est Folle, Brigitte Fontaine

This is her debut solo album from 1968. I would highly recommend any collector slide down the rabbit hole of her many releases.

4

Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid: Original Soundtrack Recording, Bob Dylan

This is a soundtrack of a movie by the same name, the album includes “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” but it’s so much more than that. It’s a mood and it moves at its own pace.

5

Domingo, Gal Costa and Caetano Veloso

This Brazilian record is amazingly beautiful. My copy is from 1967 and for as much as I love it, I don’t know very much about the origins, only that it is a classic and that’s why I bought it in Brazil. Give it a spin, maybe you will enjoy it too.

Allen Iverson Launches New Craft THC Soda, IVERSON, With Viola

Allen Iverson Launches New Craft THC Soda, IVERSON, With Viola

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Much like how he reinvented things on the court, Allen Iverson is looking to influence the next wave — but with his own unique twist. The NBA Hall of Famer is partnering up with Viola once again to launch IVERSON, a craft THC soda. The exciting new drink is produced in with Horticulture Co., a leading innovator in plant-based wellness products.

The legendary Philadelphia 76ers player, who recently announced his sobriety journey, is motivated to help consumers find a potential alternative to alcohol after this “life-changing” decision. IVERSON is a low-dose, plant-powered beverage that is “designed for those seeking calm, balance, and connection without compromise.” Keeping the new generation of consumers in mind, IVERSON blends premium THC with natural fruit flavors for a controlled experience.

“Allen and Viola have always been about breaking barriers and leading culture,” said Al Harrington, CEO and Founder of Viola. “Partnering with Horticulture Co. allows us to take that same mission nationwide — creating a product that brings wellness and community together in a new way.” Iverson has previously collaborated with Viola for the “Iverson ’01” cannabis strain.

The line arrives with three flavors that serve as nods to Iverson’s legacy:

Bubba Chuck Berry – a bold, fruity blend inspired by Iverson’s nickname and signature energy.

Cran-Apple Crossover – a crisp, refreshing fusion that pays homage to his unforgettable moves on and off the court.

96 Nectarine – a smooth, golden flavor celebrating the year he entered the league and changed basketball culture forever.

IVERSON will be rolling out nationwide beginning on Oct. 20 at Specs, Total Wine, and Circle K locations, and online at drinkviola.com.

In addition to his new drink collab, The Answer recently debuted his memoir, Misunderstood. The book is an intimate, first-person recap of his childhood, the journey to superstardom, and the trials and tribulations along the way. It recently landed on the New York Times Best Seller list, and you can buy it here.
