Jaquel Knight Shares First Choreography He Memorized And Best Battle Songs

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Jaquel Knight’s talent has opened doors for him to work with some of the industry’s top talent including Beyoncé, Chris Brown, and Brandy,  but the Atlanta representative still remembers the first choreography he ever memorized.

“The first song I learned the choreo too was ‘Real Love’ by Mary J Blige when she performed it on Soul Train,”  he revealed to VIBE at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final. “Then it was every TLC performance. My favorite one was when they did the MTV VMA’s [1999]. That’s probably one of my favorite things I remember learning. Then I became a pop kid. All the Brittney Spears performances. All the Janet Jackson performances. I can go on and on.”

Enthusiastically, he continued to elaborate on his relationship to street dance as the competitors at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final were tasked with delivering the best of their non-traditional, freestyle moves opposed to showcasing classically trained technique and learned routines.

“I’m from the hood,” he exclaimed. “If you can’t dance, if you can’t get out there and go, you can’t dance. Freestyle dance is the core of who we are as dancers and the core of who I am as a choreographer.”

Knight continued, “For me, it’s important for dancers to be able to freestyle. It’s also an art I want to say we’re losing but thankfully things like this Red Bull event, it’s keeping the freestyle alive…That’s where your personality, your attitude, your charisma comes from.”

Keeping in alignment with street style, 36-year-old listed the top songs for dancers to play for head-to-head competition. Artists he named include Missy Elliott, Fatman Scoop, Pharrell Williams and more.

Camp Flog Gnaw 2025 Rescheduled With Reduced Lineup

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Pushing back your entire music festival by a week is a radical maneuver, but it’s one the organizers of Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival believed they had to take. The fest was all set to pop off this Saturday and Sunday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, but due to extreme inclement weather in the forecast, it’s been rescheduled for the following weekend and will now take place on Nov. 22 and 23. Tyler’s Instagram account posted the following message today:

due to the fact this storm became an atmospheric rain torrential downpour we had 2 choices – cancel or move to next weekend. we chose the latter. we understand this is not ideal so we will offer refunds. for everyone else we will see you next weekend.

Due to the schedule change, presumably there are some ticketholders who can no longer attend, which sucks. The same is true of some performers. Clairo, whose final Charm-era performance was to take place this weekend, announced in an Instagram story that she regretfully will now have to miss the fest. Don Toliver, Men I Trust, sombr, TEMS, and the Alchemist have also been removed from the bill.

Clairo shared a lengthier statement in a full-fledged IG post:

a sad and unexpected ending to Charm , but I am leaving this time in my life with so much appreciation & gratitude in my heart ❤️‍?
I could never describe what this album means to me , and I could have never imagined where it would take us ? the love I have for every single person involved could move mountains . I’m only crying cus I love you

Among those who’ll still be performing when Camp Flog Gnaw 2025 finally takes place: A$AP Rocky, Childish Gambino, Earl Sweatshirt, Clipse, Doechii, Thundercat, Zack Fox, GloRilla, Larry June, Fousheé, Zelooperz, Deb Never, Bb Trickz, 2 Chainz, Navy Blue, T-Pain, Teezo Touchdown, both MIKE and Mike G, and more. Check out the full remaining lineup here.

Sorry, Ken:

Hüsker Dü: 1985: The Miracle Year Album Review

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Hüsker Dü just might be the most powerful rock band with the chintziest-sounding back catalogue, a cache of timeless songs entombed in dated low-budget production. Even as Hüsker Dü were expanding hardcore’s monochromatic palette with liberal splashes of ’60s pop, folk, and psychedelia, their recordings were still confined to quick ’n’ dirty DIY dimensions, with Mould’s omnipresent guitar squall routinely overwhelming Hart and bassist Greg Norton’s battering-ram momentum. And even after the band cut ties with Black Flag producer Glen “Spot” Lockett and seized control of the studio console from Flip Your Wig onward, the greater clarity and texture on Hüsker Dü’s later records still came at the expense of the rhythm section. While there’s no denying the intoxicating allure of all that distortion and the resilient melodies holding their ground within it, listening to a Hüsker Dü album can feel a bit like hearing the world’s loudest band trapped inside of a soda can—and in Hart, you had one of most irrepressible drummers of his generation playing on what sounded like a kit made of wet sand bags.

Of course, that’s nothing a proper remastering campaign couldn’t potentially remedy, but where peers like the Replacements and Meat Puppets have enjoyed multiple rounds of reissues, Hüsker Dü’s SST masters remain shackled in a long-standing legal limbo. As a result, any Hüsker Dü archival undertaking has had to dance around the most fruitful period of the band’s career: The Warner-released 1994 live album The Living End compiled performances from the band’s final tour in 1987; Numero Group’s 2017 box set Savage Young Dü keyed in on the band’s pre-SST origins.

But 1985: The Miracle Year might be the closest we’ll ever get to a Tim (Let It Bleed Edition)-style treatment of Hüsker Dü’s imperial phase. Its first disc, Minnesota Miracle, features a professional 24-track mobile-unit recording of a January 30, 1985 homecoming date at Minneapolis’ First Avenue, held two weeks after the release of New Day Rising. (In interviews at the time, Mould hinted they were prepping an official live album/VHS release that, alas, never saw the light of day.) If you came of age after Hüsker Dü broke up, it could be hard to square the band’s reputation as a Category 5 force of nature with their tinny-sounding recordings; certainly, there’s a sizable contingent of Mould fans who prefer the punchier, more polished records he’d go on to make with (the recently reunited) Sugar in the ’90s. But if Hüsker Dü have been relegated to one of those “you had to be there, man” bands, Minnesota Miracle is your time-machine ticket to experience the band at peak ferocity; from the moment Hart unloads the carpet-bombing backbeat of New Day Rising’s mantric opening track, the legend of Hüsker Dü starts to feel a lot more real.

Watch KISS perform candlelit tribute to Ace Frehley at first “unmasked” show

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

KISS paid tribute to the late Ace Frehley at their first “unmasked” show on the ‘KISS Kruise’ last night – watch footage of the moment below.

The guitarist and founding member of the group died in Morristown, New Jersey, on October 16. He was 74 years old.

A statement shared at the time revealed that Ace – also known as Spaceman – died “peacefully surrounded by family” following “a recent fall at his home”. An investigation was then launched into Frehley’s death, and the results of a medical examination have since been shared, ruling his death an accident.

Following news of his passing, KISS played their first show in nearly two years on Friday (November 14), with the outdoor unplugged gig launching the ‘Kiss Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas’ weekend, marking the first time the veteran rockers have joined forces onstage since 2023’s farewell tour.

Ahead of the show, electric candles were handed out to the audience, and upon taking the stage, Paul Stanley asked the crowd to lift them in the air and take a moment to “think about somebody who is at the foundation of this band”.

“We’re talking about Ace,” he said. “We certainly had differences, but that’s what family is about. Why don’t we take a moment [and] think about him looking down on us” from the fictional planet “Jendell, probably”, which Ace often referred to as his home.

“Let’s have a moment for Ace.”

KISS played:

‘Comin’ Home’
‘See You Tonite’
‘A World Without Heroes’
‘Hard Luck Woman’
‘Christine Sixteen’
‘Nothin’ to Lose’
‘Goin’ Blind’
‘Hide Your Heart’
‘Plaster Caster’
‘Beth’
‘Love Her All I Can’

The guitarist co-founded KISS in 1973 with singer Paul Stanley, bassist and part-time singer Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss. After nearly a decade, Frehley had left the band to pursue a solo career, coupled with his struggles with substance abuse and rising tension within the band about their direction.

In the years following his exit from KISS, Frehley formed a new band, Frehley’s Comet, and he would rejoin KISS for their reunion in 1996 – staying with them until 2002. He did not join them for their farewell world tour in 2022. Among the songs Ace helped write for KISS were classics like ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’, ‘Rock And Roll All Nite’, ‘Detroit Rock City’, ‘Love Gun’ and more.

Among the names names who have paid tribute to Frehley include Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Nile Rodgers, Steve Vai, John 5, Rush, Alice Cooper, and more.

Following Frehley’s passing, a Change.org petition was launched in an effort to convince NASA to award the guitarist with honorary astronaut status. The petition – started by a fan named Kathryn – has since received over 3,000 signatures and counting.

Escobedo, who led the Jimmy Kimmel Live! house band since the show premiered in 2003, died at age 59

Jimmy Kimmel has launched two fundraisers in memory of Cleto Escobedo III, his childhood friend and the longtime bandleader of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Escobedo died on Tuesday at the age of 59.

“Cleto was always kind and eager to help others. As we mourn his loss, we have started two fundraisers to celebrate his life and give back,” wrote Kimmel in a social media post alongside photos of Escobedo and his family with their dog, and an image of Kimmel and his friend. “The first is for UCLA Medical Center where he received such incredible care. Together we can help vulnerable patients and families in need of financial assistance during hard times,” continued the late-night host. “And to honor his love of animals, the @TheAnimalFoundation in our hometown of Las Vegas.”

In his bio, Kimmel linked to the UCLA Health fundraiser page, which reads, “In memory of our friend Cleto, we’d like to thank all the hardworking specialists, doctors, and nurses at UCLA. They worked tirelessly and generously to give him the best care. … To honor his generous spirit, we’d like to help vulnerable patients and families in need of financial assistance during hard times.”

The host also pointed fans to the Animal Foundation, which is based in Las Vegas, where he and Escobedo grew up. “Cleto was a compassionate animal lover. He loved each of his rescue dogs like they were family,” read the foundation’s page. “Cleto would have loved his friends and family helping to provide safety, healing and homes for pets in need.”

Escobedo died at UCLA Medical Center following complications related to a liver transplant. His cause of death was later revealed to be due to cardiogenic shock.

Kimmel paid tribute to his pal during his Tuesday night monologue. “It’s just not fair,” Kimmel said, breaking into tears. “He was the nicest, most humble, kind, and always funny person.” The host added, of the their shared success, “He loved me. He loved seeing all of this happen. He loved being a part of it. He never took it for granted…. He was just a great older brother. No baggage, all love. There’s no one in my life I felt more comfortable with.”

Amyl and The Sniffers Fund $35k Bar Tabs After Cancellation

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Amyl and The Sniffers turned a last-minute cancellation into an unforgettable night for Melbourne’s live-music community on Friday, after their free all-ages show at Federation Square was shut down minutes before they were due to take the stage.

Explore

See latest videos, charts and news

The Aussie rockers, who had been set for a triumphant hometown performance, redirected their entire AU$5,000 performance fee to seven local venues — a gesture that quickly grew into a AU$35,000 bar tab shared across some of the city’s most beloved rooms.

According to ABC Australia, the gig was halted after multiple breaches of the security barrier raised concerns about crowd safety. The Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation said the decision “wasn’t made lightly,” citing risks to the audience, staff, and the band. Fans watching the livestream were stunned as the plug was pulled just eight minutes before showtime.

Rather than let the night end there, frontwoman Amy Taylor posted a video explaining the cancellation before announcing the band would give the money back to local venues that helped launch their career.

“Have a drink on us,” Taylor said in the video posted to social media over the weekend, which has since clocked more than 1 million views. “Just have some fun tonight.”

Tabs were immediately placed at local haunts The Tote, The Curtin, The Old Bar, Labour in Vain, Hell’s Kitchen, Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar, and Cherry Bar, where fans flocked from across the city after the news spread on social media. Several venues reported packed rooms, lines down the street, and tabs running dry within hours.

The moment arrives during one of the biggest years of the band’s career. Their 2024 album Cartoon Darkness debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and later landed in the U.K. top 10. It also collected major honors at the 2025 AIR Awards, including Independent Album of the Year and Best Independent Punk Album or EP. The band is up for multiple ARIA Awards this year — including Album of the Year and Best Group — marking a new peak in their national profile.

Their international momentum has accelerated, too. Amyl and The Sniffers earned a Grammy nomination earlier in 2025 and are nominated at the Brit Awards for International Group of the Year. They also joined AC/DC for a run of Australian stadium dates in November, cementing a milestone for a band that cut its teeth in the same small rooms they helped support on Friday night.

Friday’s bar-tab blowout underscored the deep roots Amyl and The Sniffers maintain in Melbourne’s grassroots scene, even as their profile accelerates worldwide. For many fans who raced between venues to claim a drink, the night became an instant chapter in the city’s music mythology — a chaotic, communal celebration born from a disappointment that could have easily overshadowed a landmark homecoming.

Band of Brothers (and Sisters): Making Music with the U.S. Army

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

In the U.S. Army, music isn’t just background noise, it’s a heartbeat. It’s the sound of unity, of home, of hope when things get hard. And for the Soldiers who wear the uniform and play the notes, it’s proof that passion and purpose can march in step.

The Army is the country’s largest military branch — built on duty, discipline, and service — but it’s also one of the world’s biggest employers of working musicians. Across its Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard components, the Army keeps more than 30 bands on the move, performing everywhere from small-town parades to international stages.

For the players behind the brass and woodwinds, this isn’t a side gig, it’s a calling.

As an Army musician, your stage could be anywhere: a dusty tarmac overseas, a bustling city square, or the steps of the Capitol on Independence Day. One night, you might be lifting the spirits of Soldiers far from home; the next, playing a ceremonial piece that honors a fellow soldier.

It’s not just about entertainment, it’s about connection. Every performance, from a field concert to a formal event, carries the weight of something bigger. “I didn’t give up my art,” says U.S. Army Tuba Specialist Antonio Huezo in the videos within. “I gave it a purpose.”

To earn that honor, musicians must audition and demonstrate a high level of technical skill and versatility. The Army hires across 16 musical specialties, from traditional orchestral instruments like trumpet, clarinet, and flute, to rhythm section staples like guitar, bass, and drums. There’s even a need for sound techs and vocalists who can command a room with more than just volume.

At the top of the pyramid are the Army’s four Premier Bands: The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” The U.S. Army Field Band, The U.S. Military Academy Band, and The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. Such elite ensembles that perform for presidents, world leaders, and millions of Americans each year. These are the kind of gigs most musicians dream about, minus the club cover charge.

But prestige isn’t the only reward. Joining an Army Band means steady pay, top-tier gear, and the chance to collaborate with musicians who can sight-read, improvise, and march, sometimes all at once. It’s a world where precision meets passion.

Every Army musician starts the same way: with Basic Combat Training. It’s a crash course in teamwork, mental grit, and physical endurance. Such attributes carry over into every rehearsal and performance. From there, Soldiers head to the Army School of Music, a specialized training ground where practice rooms replace foxholes and the daily routine includes both pushups and band practice.

The school also teaches recording, editing, and post-production, giving players an inside track on the modern side of the industry. Whether you go Active Duty or join the Reserve, the Army doesn’t just shape you as a musician, it equips you with the discipline and skills to thrive wherever your career leads next.

There are no shortcuts in music: just scales, sweat, and repetition. The Army understands that rhythm. In its ranks, talent meets opportunity, and the result is something that sounds a lot like pride.

Serving as an Army musician isn’t about leaving the stage behind — it’s about redefining it. You’ll play for audiences that few artists ever reach, carrying the sound of America wherever duty calls.

And when the encore hits, you’ll know: every note matters.

Skrillex, Dylan Brady & Caroline Polachek Share New Song “hit me where it hurts”

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

On April Fool’s Day, Skrillex surprise-released his album Fuck U Skrillex You Think Ur Andy Warhol But Ur Not!! , which recently earned him Grammy nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance/Electronic Recording (for “Voltage”). He dropped a new single called “Fuze” with ISOxo last month, and today he’s got another new one. Enticingly, the hyperactive and high-octane “hit me where it hurts” pairs our boy Sonny with longtime collaborator Dylan Brady (also of 100 Gecs fame) and none other than Caroline Polachek, whose vocals from Pang track “Hit Me Where It Hurts” are threaded throughout. Listen below.
