‘American Idol’ Music Supervisor and Husband’s Cause of Death Revealed

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Over a month after American Idol supervisor Robin Kaye and her musician husband, Thomas Deluca, were found dead in their Los Angeles residence, a cause of death has been revealed.

According to a death certificate obtained by People, Kaye and Deluca, both 70, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds that they sustained on July 10. Their deaths were listed as a homicide.

Although their death certificates report that the couple sustained their fatal injuries, which caused them to die within minutes of each other, on July 10, their date of death was originally recorded as July 14. People stated that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office previously told the outlet that the couple was pronounced dead on July 14, which is the date authorities say Kaye and Deluca were found dead in their Encino, California, home following a welfare check call.

The outlet also noted that although Kaye’s death certificate, which was issued on July 23, originally stated that no autopsy was performed, documents show that autopsies were conducted for both Kaye and Deluca and used to determine that cause of death. People stated that the notation was corrected by an amendment filed on Aug. 4.

Three days after police found the couple’s bodies, Raymond Boodarian, 22, was charged with two counts of murder with enhancements for killing the couple while committing a robbery, intentionally using a firearm, and committing multiple murders. Boodarian also faces a burglary charge.

Last week, Boodarian appeared in court wearing a “suicide gown” Wednesday and was deferred to mental health court for evaluation. A judge ordered Boodarian back into custody without bail and set a Sept. 3 hearing in mental health court. He said any arraignment on Boodarian’s murder charges would have to wait until “he’s deemed mentally competent.”

Trending Stories

Officials say Boodarian was burglarizing their Encino residence when the couple arrived home from a shopping trip and encountered him on July 10. He allegedly shot the couple multiple times with a gun located in the home and then fled.

“In a matter of moments, this couple was senselessly killed in their own home as they returned from the grocery store,” L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a previous statement. “This tragic shooting has shaken a valley community and the notion that home should be our safe sanctuary.”

Carly Pearce Talks Michael Ray Divorce on Bunnie Xo Podcast

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Since her divorce from fellow country music artist Michael Ray in 2020, Carly Pearce has been outspoken about the split and the fallout from it — most prominently on her 2021 EP 29 and its follow-up album 29: Written in Stone.

Songs like “What He Didn’t Do” and “Diamondback” delved into the emotional tatters of the split. In a new interview on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, Pearce notes that the things she wrote about on the 29 projects were pulled from real life.

The former couple initially met in 2018 and married in 2019, which Pearce described as all happening too fast. “I thought he was so cute. I’d heard he’s the nicest guy in the world,” Pearce recalls. “I invited him to my [Billboard Country Airplay] No. 1 party for ‘Every Little Thing.’ Looking back on it, it was a hot and heavy lust. It wasn’t love. It was just passionate.”

She added, “I got married to go the distance. When I married him it was for the right reasons. I think when you travel like this, I thought I was doing the right thing to get married till I was 29. But we didn’t have real conversations and we didn’t really know about each other. We were kind of living this life that wasn’t really reality. I think we didn’t really know each other. I knew the night I got married that I shouldn’t have. I think the best thing that ever happened to me was COVID, because it allowed me to deal with that in private. I think that I probably would have stayed in it longer if I could have avoided it, and not had to… I was embarrassed when it happened…and was heartbroken.”

Pearce filed for divorce less than a year after their wedding. “It wasn’t what I signed up for,” she said, reflecting on the brief marriage. “It just wasn’t the marriage that I know I deserved. I knew that very quickly. We were only married for eight months. Plenty happened to where it was very clear to me this was not, this just wasn’t a marriage.”

Asked if there was infidelity within the marriage, Pearce responded that her 2022 Billboard Hot 100 top 40 hit “What He Didn’t Do” “wasn’t just written out of thin air. … It wasn’t good.”

But Pearce also stressed that she’s ultimately thankful for the lessons learned from the marriage. “Thank you, because you taught me how strong I am. You put me through things that have made me better now. And I don’t wish him evil. I don’t wish anything on him. I’m so glad that I’m not in that anymore,” she said.

When Bunnie Xo asked about a possible “Jolene” in the situation — referencing the title mistress from Dolly Parton’s 1973 country classic — without naming any names, Pearce simply said, “Let’s just say I’m not a fan of her. I’m not a fan of him. I could’ve done so much more than I did.”

Pearce also noted how she had hoped for direct answers in the marriage.

“It’s tough to think that… just leave me instead. I shut my mouth for so long, because I felt like I had to. And I’m not here to blow anybody up. I don’t care anymore. When you are faced with somebody that was a really dark season for you, and then they go and blow it up on the Internet, like…also, you go, ‘I don’t know if he told her we were divorced.’ I don’t know. All I know is … that was not a fun situation for me. i think what’s harder is at the end of it, you want somebody … who is gonna look you in the eye and say, ‘Yeah, I did this.’ … But I never got any of that. I had to piece together a lot of things after the fact. But they were facts.”

A few months after the news of the divorce was made public, fans began speculating that Ray was dating Tyler Reese Tritt (daughter of country singer Travis Tritt), after photos surfaced of the two together.

During the Opry 100 celebration earlier this year, which was televised from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Pearce and Tritt made headlines when Pearce performed “Jolene” during the television special. When some online commenters noticed that the cameras didn’t pan to show Tyler Reese Tritt until after Pearce’s performance, Pearce herself commented, saying, “Aw don’t you worry, I looked right at her.”

Last year, Pearce followed up her 29 projects with Hummingbird, featuring the Chris Stapleton collaboration “We Don’t Fight Anymore” and “Truck on Fire.” “We Don’t Fight Anymore” was nominated for a Grammy Award (Pearce, along with Ashley McBryde, previously won a Grammy for best country duo/group performance for “Never Wanted to Be That Girl”). “We Don’t Fight Anymore” was also nominated for musical event of the year at the CMA Awards.

In 2023, Ray released the single “Spirits and Demons,” featuring Meghan Patrick, and released the EP Dive Bars & Broken Hearts.

Endless Summer: A Dispatch From Bad Bunny’s San Juan Residency

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Home is a feeling. Home can be a mountain, an island, a stranger’s home where you’re welcomed like family.

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, decided he’s homebound for the summer. During prime festival and touring season, the megastar—whose latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos (I Should Have Taken More Photos) hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, his fourth album to do so—leveraged his celebrity to manifest one of the underlying purposes of his art. After spending years bringing Puerto Rico to the world, his homegrown show at San Juan’s famous Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot (El Choli, if you’re local) was designed to bring the world to the island.

Aptly named No me quiero ir de aqui (I Don’t Want To Leave), Bad Bunny’s completely sold-out summer residency is an unabashed love letter to Puerto Rico. Entering the arena, the floor is flanked by two stages: a mountain that feels uprooted straight out of El Yunque National Forest, vaguely shaped like a cemí (a Taíno nature spirit), and a pink casita whose interior doubles as a VIP area. Anyone who sees the small house up-close can attest to the fact that the little house is authentic Caribbean architecture, the kind of space that could belong to any tía out in Fajardo or Ponce or Bayamón.

The spectacle opens theatrically: At center stage, a woman searches for a camera. At the same time, a man finds a blanket covering drums used for plena, a traditional Puerto Rican genre. Slowly, out of the mountain, dancers emerge donning traditional jíbaro garb worn in Boricua folk tradition, some complete with pava straw hats (an unofficial symbol of this era that doubles as a show of Puerto Rican pride). The man of the hour subtly appears stage-left, kicking off the night with new song “ALAMBRE PúA”.

No me quiero ir de aquí is split into three of the island’s key genres: plena, perreo, and salsa. Bad Bunny adapted his songs to each, plena drums replacing the dembow rattle on beloved hits like “La Santa” (originally recorded with Daddy Yankee) and “Vete.” When he appeared at la casita for the reggaeton-heavy section of the night—which included YHLQMDLG-era opus “Safaera” (recorded in 2020 with Jowell & Randy, and Ñengo Flow) and Un Verano Sin Tí’s “Titi Me Preguntó”—he comfortably waltzed between the roof and the front porch. His transition back to the mountain was soundtracked by local plena collective Pleneros de la Cresta, who thanked the audience after a lively jam out to “CAFé CON RON”: “Thank you for getting the world to hear plena puertorriqueña!”

One of the residency’s biggest draws is the rotating cast of guests. For its 19th iteration,  Lorén Aldarondo Torres of Puerto Rican indie band Chuwi sang her “Weltita” verse from the mountaintop. Later, when the casita was transformed into a party de marquesina like the ones where reggaeton was born, the soundtrack was none other than Ivy Queen herself. The undisputed Queen of Reggaeton held court over the stadium from the casita’s entrance with a medley of her hits, snarling signature song “Quiero Bailar” like it was the last time she’d sing it. Before going back to the mountains, Bad Bunny tried bending the audience to his will again, encouraging everyone to turn off their phones and be in the moment. Most of the arena followed suit, and the audience presence was palpable.

Before switching to salsa, a video about the genre’s African roots was played, and Benito emerged in a suit. Backed by Los Sobrinos, he reinterpreted “Callaíta” with timbaleros and bongos. If he wasn’t already, Bad Bunny was fully in control of the audience for “Baile Inolvidable”, the salsa standout from this era. Arguably the show’s biggest moment after his sobering rendition of “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii” right before, it was a tremendous show of artistic growth, one where Bad Bunny channeled salsa legends like Héctor Lavoe and Willie Colón while remaining more himself than we’ve ever seen him.

It wasn’t until the end that I realized three hours had flown by. I was ready for more, almost disappointed that there wasn’t. That feeling was a shock: A big-budget arena show can often drag. Bad Bunny’s generosity as a performer is on full display from the moment you approach El Choli to the second you leave, an eternal moment frozen in the endless summer of the Caribbean heat. It’s something that can only exist here, something Bad Bunny did well to remind us when he first popped out of la casita, right as the initial electric guitar chords of house-influenced banger “Neverita” reverberated through the arena: “Summer ended in most of the world, but we’re in PR.”

Judge Grants Drake's Legal Team Access To Review Redacted Contract

Judge Grants Drake’s Legal Team Access To Review Redacted Contract

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

A judge has granted Drake‘s legal team permission to review a previously redacted version of Kendrick Lamar‘s recording contract. This win for Drizzy comes a week after he filed a motion in federal court to gain access to the restricted documents. In the initial lawsuit, Drake’s legal team argued that UMG’s redactions made the 22-page agreement “unreadable and incomprehensible.”

A statement from Judge Jeanette Vargas of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York read, “Plaintiff and UMG’s request… for permission to file under seal a contract between UMG Recordings, Inc. and Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, as produced by UMG in redacted form with the designation Attorney’s Eyes Only, is GRANTED.”

She ruled that “UMG has made a sufficient showing that the information that he seeks to seal qualifies as confidential, ‘sensitive business information.’”

The document, though, will remain sealed from the public. Judge Vargas explained this is because “in this instance, the ‘interest in protecting confidential business information outweighs the qualified First Amendment presumption of public access.’”

The document will remain publicly protected because “the Lamar Contract reflects an ‘ongoing contractual relationship’ between UMG’s business partner and Lamar, the Court agrees that sealing the contract would best protect UMG’s ‘business relationships and interests, and the privacy interests of non-parties.’”

The contract in question is the main focal point of Drake’s case against Universal Music Group. He accused UMG of having contractual authority over the “Not Like Us” rapper’s music and intentionally releasing and promoting the aforementioned diss track.

Previous court filings show that Drake was seeking “extensive documentation” from UMG while the label called his complaint a “hundred-plus page ‘legal’ blather” that ignores his own history of songs with “equally provocative taunts against other artists.”

Despite them arguing that Drake initiated the exchange, they wrote, “Drake’s lawyers believe that when Drake willingly participates in a performative rap-battle of music and poetry, he can be ‘defamed’ even though he engages in the exact same form of creative expression. Drake’s lawyers can also keep seeking to ‘uncover’ evidence of wild conspiracies as to why one song that upset Drake had massive global appeal, but there is nothing to ‘uncover.’ Except for this: by working tirelessly in partnership with our artists, we achieve global success for them and their music.”

“He approaches records like a plumber”

by jummy84 August 25, 2025

Bartees Strange has opened up about his relationship with super-producer Jack Antonoff, who helped to produce the Baltimore-based musician’s latest album, ‘Horror’. Watch our full video interview above

READ MORE: Bartees Strange: “You have to face your fears to become the best version of who you are”

He also hailed Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke and TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe as formative influences, and discussed his work on brand-new material.

Strange was speaking to NME backstage at Reading 2025 after his performance on the Festival Republic Stage. Asked what qualities that Antonoff has over other producers, Strange replied: “I produce a lot of records now and I think the biggest thing is you become who you’re working with and you help them take a few extra steps they wouldn’t normally take.

“The way you do that is by building trust. In the beginning, they’re only gonna listen to you so much, but by the end, they should trust you with everything. No-one’s better than him at that.”

Strange added: “I think it’s because he kind of approaches records like a plumber. He’s not a precious guy. He’ll pull up there early; he’s working hard. Everything’s set up. Every idea, we can throw it at the wall. No idea is bad.

“He’s not a tremendously talented player, so when he plays, it disarms the situation. He’s not a freaky guitar player or drummer. He’s just good at getting the ideas out. So after he plays, you’re like, ‘Oh, I can play that better’, and then it becomes a conversation. It’s very low-stakes and it becomes really beautiful stuff because he has great taste. That guy’s great.”

‘Horror’, Strange’s third album – encompassing indie, rap and dance – was almost completed by the time that Antonoff joined the project.

Still, Strange recalled: “He added a lot. He helped me take it from 80 to 100 per cent, for sure. There were some songs that completely came alive once he got involved. He’s really good, man. I really like him.

“All the structures and stuff stayed the same, and a lot of all the lyrics, but for example ‘Too Much’, he just kind of made that song sound like it was from outer space. [He added] all these weird ship noises and the synths, swells and dynamics were all things that he was able to build around the framework of my production.

“On songs like ‘Wants Needs’, he just helped me punch it up and simplify it. He made my bridge work. The bridge didn’t work and he started sampling parts of other songs on the record and bringing them in. It was really amazing. The dude’s freaky.”

When NME suggested that Antonoff was ‘The Plumber Of Pop’, Strange replied: “I think he is; he’s like a blue-collar pop guy. It’s sick.”

Although he’s now based in Baltimore, Strange was born in the UK, in Ipswich, and moved to Oklahoma as a child. “I knew the world was bigger than the places I was living because I lived here,” he explained. “I knew there were other places so I was always curious about the music that was happening here.

“That was how I found out about Burial and Jai Paul, and so many artists – like the Klaxons and Enter Shikari – that I never would have found if I’d just focused on where I was at. I still listen to [the Enter Shikari song] ‘Sorry You’re Not A Winner and [the Klaxons song] ‘Golden Skans’.

Strange has previously spoken about the influence of Bloc Party, who also played Reading & Leeds this weekend. “I heard ‘Helicopter’ on Fifa and I was like, ‘Who is this? This song’s amazing!” Strange told NME. “And then on Fuse, I saw a live performance and I was like, [Okereke is] Black! Oh, whoa, that’s so cool.’ I’d never seen that and I was so in love with it. The drummer [Matt Tong] was insane. I remember being in love with the drummer and thought that the guitar parts were so amazing.’ It was just incredible music. Urgent.”

Back in April, TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe spoke to NME about the representation of people of colour in indie music and explained that he’d become pals with Strange: “It’s been a joy to be friends with him.” Asked if Adebimpe was also an inspiration, Strange replied: “Yeah man. I saw [TV On The Radio] playing on [Late Night with David] Letterman when I came home from football practice when it was just on in the living room.

“They were doing ‘Wolf Like Me’ and that was the moment. I remember just being like, ‘I wanna be like him. That guy is the coolest guy I’ve ever seen in my life.’ But yeah: we’re buddies; we talk every once in a while.”

When NME noted that TV On The Radio were more “left-field” than many of their ‘00s indie contemporaries, Strange replied: “Yeah, I think that’s why I connected with it because I think the first time I heard it, I was like, ‘I’ve never heard anything like this.’ When I heard Bloc Party, I had a reference for it. It was like a lot of things that were happening, but it was just, like, cooler.

“With the TV stuff, I was like, ‘This feels like hearing Radiohead or something. I don’t know how they’re doing it and I have to see it.’ I’ve seen them so many times since as a kid in high school. I love them.”

Strange also revealed that he’s been working on new material and will “record in January, probably”.

He said the new record would be “simple”, adding: “I’ve kinda done all I need to do with the big stuff. Everyone knows I can produce; I can make a thing sound cool. I’m gonna do something small.”

Asked if he’ll self-produce this time, he replied: “I’m just gonna do it how I always do it. I’ll probably start it by myself. I’m definitely gonna show it to Jack, just ‘cause we’re friends. That’s the thing: Jack and I are just buddies now, so I’m gonna go over to his house and play it.”

If Antonoff had notes, Strange said, his response would be: “‘Oh, cool – let’s play with it.’”

Swift previously said she wrote, produced, and recorded The Life of a Showgirl during her record-breaking Eras Tour in the summer of 2024. “I would be playing shows. I would do, like, three shows in a row. I’d have three days off,” she explained on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce where she first teased news of the new album. “I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and was actually working on this. I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.”

Brandy & Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine Tour”: How to Get Tickets

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Brandy and Monica are teaming up for their first-ever co-headlining tour in Fall 2025. Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, Coco Jones, and 2025 American Idol winner Jamal Roberts will join them as special guests.

Aptly titled “The Boy Is Mine Tour,” the 32-date run kicks off on October 16th in Cincinnati, with subsequent stops including Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, DC. See the full schedule below. Update: New stops have been added in Nashville and Kansas City, while Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta have received additional dates.

Of course, the co-headlining tour is named after Brandy and Monica’s classic 1998 duet “The Boy Is Mine,” which spent a record-breaking 13 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won them a Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The artists previously reunited on “It All Belongs to Me” in 2012.

“This really is a full-circle moment. Monica and I coming together again isn’t just about the music — it’s about honoring where we came from and how far we’ve both come,” Brandy said in a statement. “‘The Boy Is Mine’ was a defining chapter in R&B, and to share the stage all these years later is bigger than a reunion — it’s a celebration of growth, sisterhood, and the love our fans have given us from day one.”

Monica added, “The love that ‘The Boy Is Mine’ continues to receive means everything to me. This tour is a celebration of our history, our impact, and the fans who have grown with us. Brandy and I have been on our own unique journeys, and coming back together in this way is a reminder of the power of respect, strength, and real music. We’re giving the people what they’ve been asking for, and doing it with grace, love, and purpose. God’s timing perfectly aligned us.”

Last year, the duo gained a whole new generation of fans after making a surprise cameo in Ariana Grande’s music video for “the boy is mine.” Brandy and Monica contributed to the subsequent “the boy is mine” remix, which earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
