Cradle Of Filth fire guitarist a day after his wife quits band

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Cradle Of Filth have announced the firing of guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda – find out more below.

Last night, Cradle Of Filth and frontman Dani Filth took to social media to announce that they have fired Šmerda with immediate effect. The post came hours after Šmerda shared his own posts announcing that he would be leaving Cradle Of Filth at the end of their current tour.

His wife, Zoe Marie Federoff who was also in the band as keyboardist, also left the band mid-tour a day before Šmerda’s announcement. The couple cited “certain events” within the band as their reasons for wanting to leave.

Šmerda’s post revealed that the couple “do not feel like Cradle can provide for our future, and in fact hinders it. Among other reasons it is a lot of work for relatively low pay, the stress is quite high, and we haven’t felt for a while like this band actually prioritizing/caring about members. It has been years of unprofessional behavior from people above us that led to our decision.”

In response, Cradle Of Filth and Dani Filth have fired Šmerda with immediate effect. Filth wrote, addressing Šmerda’s and Federoof’s exits: “Thank you for your understanding in this horrible matter, we are all in a state of shock over proceedings and will share our side to these unfortunate events in due course. Please, respect our decision to part with Ashok now rather than at the end of the tour and avoid speculation as more clarity on the situation will be provided.”

“The rest of the band are cool, even if taken aback, and accusations toward management, who work very closely with me and the band are completely unjust and unfounded. Patience is a virtue and the truth will always come out.”

The band also confirmed that they will be proceeding with the rest of their tour despite being short of one guitarist and “all attempts to illegally defame and derail the band”.

It is currently unclear if Dani and Cradle Of Filth are seeking legal action against the couple for their “illegal” attempts at “defamation”.

Additionally, Šmerda has asked that his contributions to the band’s future releases, including the long-gestating collaboration with Ed Sheeran, be scrapped: “I have also asked all compositions of mine removed from upcoming releases including Ed Sheeran collab. This song feels like foolish clown antics for me at this point anyways- first it was charity single for kids, then for profit single, then on next album, and now who knows and I just do not want to be involved anymore, no disrespect to Ed Sheeran.”

The Ed Sheeran collaboration has been in the works for several years, dating all the way back to 2021. Work on the track was progressing in 2022 according to Filth, with that then being halted due to Sheeran becoming a father. Filth was then pictured at the pub with Sheeran and producer Scott Atkins in late 2022, with a tentative release date of summer 2023 then set.

Earlier this year, Dani Filth continued to talk up the collaboration, saying the track was “done and dusted”, but would later leave it off the band’s latest record.

Federoff joined Cradle of Filth in 2022, and was a part of the line-up when they shared their latest album ‘The Screaming Of The Valkyries’ in March 2025. Šmerda has been in the group for over a decade. They announced their engagement to celebrate New Year’s Day 2024, and officially tied the knot earlier this year – with Dani Filth in attendance.

Bon Jovi Revisits ‘Forever LP’ With Bruce Springsteen and More Guests

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Bon Jovi are revisiting the songs from their 2024 LP Forever with an impressive slate of guest singers, including Bruce Springsteen, Jelly Roll, Jason Isbell, Joe Elliott, Avril Lavigne, and Marcus King. They’re calling the new album Forever (Legendary Edition), and it arrives Oct. 24.

This Friday, they’re dropping “Hollow Man” with Bruce Springsteen, along with new tune “Red, White & Jersey.”

“This album is more than just a collection of collaborations, it is an album borne out of necessity,” Jon Bon Jovi says in a statement. “My vocal cord rehab was a well-documented journey that played out while releasing Forever in 2024. I was singing well in the studio for recording, but the vocal demands and rigors of touring were still slightly out of reach for me. Without an ability to tour at that time, I continued working in the studio and called on some friends, great singers, artists, musicians and also just great people.”

“The result is an album with a new viewpoint and new spirit – a collaboration album that proves we all get by in this world with a little help from our friends,” he continues. “I feel tremendous joy and gratitude releasing this album and I think it shows in the music. I can say with certainty that there is always something bigger than ME, and that’s WE.”

Bon Jovi have been off the road since 2022 due to Jon’s vocal issues, but they have played a handful of one-offs in recent years. Their most recent gig took place June 14 at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tennessee. It’s unclear if they’ll ever be able to tour again.

“I just want to get back to two and a half hours a night, four nights a week, before I’m gonna go out there on the road for real,” Jon said at the 2024 Pollstar Live! conference. “But I’m confident in my doctor.”

Earlier this month, unfounded rumors spread that Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres was stepping away from the band. Tico posted a video to the official Bon Jovi Instagram account to set the record straight.

Editor’s picks

“I’m here to dispel a lot of rumors that I’ve read,” he said. “People [have been] calling me up saying, ‘Did you retire from music, from the band?’ Well… no, i have no idea how this stuff starts. Musicians don’t retire, especially me. Me and the boys, Johnny and everybody, we’re still making music.. I mean, the best we’ve ever been. All I can tell you is, don’t listen to what you read, it’s most likely bullshit. See you later!”

The Wiggles Sued In Australia’s Federal Court By Former CEO

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

The Wiggles are handling a different type of hot potato — a workplace dispute that has reached Australia’s Federal Court.

The legendary kids entertainers are being taken to court by Luke O’Neill, who in January 2024 was unveiled as their first ever CEO, but was sacked just 16 months later.

O’Neill is suing Wiggles Holdings Pty Ltd, group co-founder and “blue” wiggle Anthony Field, and general counsel Matthew Salgo, alleging breaches of the Fair Work Act, including claims of unpaid bonuses and unlawful dismissal.

According to documents filed with the court, reported by The Guardian, O’Neill’s employment was terminated in late May 2025, a dismissal he alleges had no reasonable basis.

See latest videos, charts and news

O‘Neill claims several issues surfaced, which are documented in the paperwork. A year after slotting into the the role, he alleges he challenged additional hires not approved by himself or the company, and claims that on Feb. 18, Field “questioned his competence” during a staff meeting attended by approximately 13 employees, and “undermined him.” He also details being “excluded” from an important toy sale meeting, before his ouster.

Following his departure, The Wiggles reportedly paid him a bonus in the gross sum of A$86,266 ($56,000), O’Neill said in the paperwork, which he disputes is less than the full amount owed.

A spokesperson for The Wiggles has responded to the court case. “For 35 years, The Wiggles have been dedicated to bringing joy, learning, and high-quality children’s entertainment to families around the world,” reads a statement, seen by The Music Network.

“Our greatest privilege has always been helping children laugh, sing, and dance, and creating happy memories for families to share. The claim made by Luke O’Neill is currently before the Court and will be defended. It is not appropriate that we make any comment until the Defence has been filed.”

O’Neill joined The Wiggles as a consultant on April 1, 2023, before being appointed CEO on Jan. 8, 2024, with a remit to lead the organization’s digital transformation and global expansion.

As previously reported, O’Neill was expected to expand the Wiggles’ digital footprint, develop new products, grow the commercial operations of the business, and build greater distribution channels to reach larger audiences.

The case is slated to be heard by Justice Michael Lee, with a first case management hearing scheduled for Sept. 8.

The Wiggles are a powerhouse, racking-up more than 30 million sales of albums and DVDs, and upwards of 8 million book sales. Along the way, the group has won triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown (with a cover of Tame Impala’s “Elephant”); bagged a No. 1 album on the ARIA Chart; became the first band in Australian history to perform two national arena tours in a single year; nabbed the Ted Albert Award for outstanding service to Australian music (a first for a kid’s entertainment act), and filled arenas around the world.

Earlier this year, another first with the release of Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!, featuring music and collaborations with such country artists as Dasha, Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, Jackson Dean, Orville Peck, MacKenzie Porter and Lucky Oceans.

A new studio album, The Tree of Wisdom, is due out Oct. 3 and will be supported with live dates.

Apple Music Now Allows Users to Import Playlists from Spotify and Other Streaming Services

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Look out, Spotify: Apple Music is introducing a new tool that allows users to import playlists from other streaming platforms.

After being beta-tested in Australia and New Zealand in May 2025, the playlist importing tool is now available in the US, UK, Mexico, Canada, France, Brazil, and Germany. As reported by MacRumors, the tool can be found in a new Music settings menu called Transfer Music from Other Music Services. That’s where users can sign in to another streaming service and select items to import. Apple’s Support page has more detailed instructions, as well as an alternative method via your web browser.

This new Apple Music importing tool lands during a wave of artists leaving Spotify altogether. Deerhoof, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Xiu Xiu, and Hotline TNT are among the acts pulling their music from the platform. The primary reason for the mass exodus: Spotify CEO Daniel Ek’s investments in Helsing, a German company specializing in AI military software.

“A PSA to those unaware: Spotify CEO Daniel Ek invests millions in AI military drone technology,” King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard shared on Instagram recently. “We just removed our music from the platform. Can we put pressure on these Dr. Evil tech bros to do better? Join us on another platform.”

“We are currently working to take all of our music off of garbage hole violent armageddon portal Spotify,” Xiu Xiu posted on Instagram. “It is taking longer than we had hoped due to procedurally complications but will be completed soon,” adding, “For all the reasons you already know — PLEASE CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WITH SPOTIFY.”

In July of this year, Spotify rolled out a controversial face-scanning age check for users in the UK.

‘Love Island USA’ Season 7 Reunion: Recap And Best Moments

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

The Love Island USA season 7 reunion has finally arrived. The explosive conclusion to the show that took over this past summer premiered on Peacock on Monday (Aug. 25).

Nearly all of the cast except booted contestants Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega were present for the reunion to clear up any rumors, address criticism from fans, discuss where their respective friendships and relationships stand today, and so much more.

The two-hour special was full of tears, call-outs, minor crash-outs, apologies, and reflection. Check out the top 5 most memorable moments below and view VIBE’s gallery here.

The full episode is available to stream.

  • “You changed after a month?”

Huda created another meme-worthy moment at the reunion, and we have Andy Cohen to thank.

After reflecting on her countless crashouts which became known as “Hurricane Huda,” the 24-year-old single mom claimed, “I’ve done so much self-reflection and so much work that I can look back on these moments and laugh. Obviously now, I would handle things so differently.”

Andy comically replied, “So, you did a month of self reflection and you’re a different person now?”

Huda fired back, “Obviously, there’s steps to being a better person. I think emotions are really heightened in the villa.” The exchange sparked giggles among some of the cast.

  • Private vs. Public Apologies

Olandria called out bombshell Coco Watson for her negative remarks stemming from a podcast interview. Despite being described as “standoffish” by Coco, Olandria truly found an issue with how Coco switched up outside of the villa.

During one interview, she claimed that Olandria was riding hard for Taylor— who by then was coupled up with Clarke. The other Casa Amor bombshells don’t recall her doing so, and Olandria felt it contradicted Coco’s stance on her not being open with the Casa girls. She explained that she would’ve preferred for Coco to speak on her “true experience” and clarified any misconceptions that Olandria was delusional.

Chelley chimed in, noting that it seemed what Coco said on the podcast fed a certain narrative of Olandria. She and Chelley both felt Coco was part of the hate train that tried to paint them as mean girls.

Ultimately, Coco apologized. She tried to do so once before through DM, but Olandria “wasn’t f**king with it” because she believes public disrespect warrants a public apology.

  • Huda’s Legally-Binding Relationship?

After speaking about where she and Chris stand today, Huda was asked if she was dating anyone new. She’s been spotted out with Too Hot to Handle‘s Louis Russell and seemingly soft-launched their relationship on TikTok. However, she didn’t confirm or deny any rumors— and blamed Netflix.

“I can’t speak on my relationships outside the villa— for legal reasons,” she explained… and reiterated more than once. “It’s Netflix. I’m not allowed to talk about it.”

Even after both Andy and Ariana tried to pull information out of her, Huda kept all details about her current love life under wraps. To which Andy quipped, “Tell Netflix this was the No. 1 streaming show of the summer.”

  • Chelley and Olandria address Huda’s lack of accountability

When it came time to address the bullying narrative, Olandria mentioned that she asked Huda to clarify things on a public platform— since she has the highest social following among the cast. When she didn’t, the lack of action on Huda’s part really made Olandria question the friendship she thought they had.

She asked Huda to make a post calling out racism towards Chelley and Olandria from her fans. Huda, instead, spoke on how she was bullied and without namedropping, fans assumed she was talking about Chelley and Olandria. Yet, in the moment, it added more hate to the latter two, causing Olandria to unfollow Huda online.

Prior to the reunion, the bullying claim wasn’t directly discussed among the women. Huda claimed she never made the post because she was “dealing with so much outside the villa.”

There is no friendship between them as Chelley doesn’t “trust” Huda and both she and Olandria wish her well from a distance.

  • No, Cierra’s abrupt exit wasn’t captured during Olandria’s confessional

There was so much controversy surrounding Cierra Ortega leaving the villa. One viral rumor was that she was heard screaming in the background of castmate Olandria’s confessional.

However, producers clarified during the reunion that it was actually a bonding moment behind Iris and Huda. They were scream-singing Selena Gomez’s “Who Says?” in the bathroom. The clip was shown during the tail-end of the episode.

As fans may recall, Cierra was kicked out of the villa due to backlash from her usage of a racial slur.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Announce Engagement

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced that they are engaged to be married. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the superstar musician and professional football player wrote in their joint Instagram post.

Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023 after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end publicly expressed his interest in the singer. Kelce attended the Eras Tour stop at his team’s home venue, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, and later told his brother, on their podcast, New Heights, that he made a bracelet that he wanted to give Swift after the show. Eventually, in September 2023, Swift attended a Chiefs game, and she later said that she and Kelce were a couple by that time. In the ensuing months, Swift attended more football games, Kelce went to more Eras Tour shows, and they generally did a lot of things together. Recently, Swift went on New Heights to discuss her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.

Before dating Kelce, Swift’s longest relationship was with the actor Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for about six years. She briefly dated numerous notable figures—including Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, and Matthew Healy—but had never been engaged.

Kelce was the star of a 2016 reality show called Catching Kelce that was designed for him to find a partner. (Maya Benberry won the show, but her relationship with Kelce did not last long.) He also dated the social media influencer Kayla Nicole for a number of years, before breaking up in 2022. Like Swift, Kelce has not previously been engaged to be married.

Kim Dracula cancels shows after near-death experience of bus bursting into flame while they slept

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Kim Dracula has cancelled two shows after narrowly escaping death when their bus caught fire as they slept.

The Australian-born musician, who now lives in the US, is currently supporting Ice Nine Kills on tour across North America. However, they dropped off two shows after their bus burst into flame on Monday (August 26).

in a post on Instagram, they revealed that the bus caught fire at around 6am while they and their crew were asleep. They were in the back behind a locked door and said they were woken up by their crew “screaming and banging the door telling me to get off the bus”.

“We all got off immediately and within 30 seconds the entire bus was engulfed in flames, starting right where I was laying down,” they wrote. They added that they had to cancel two shows after most of the people on the bus lost all their possessions in the fire, including “things we needed for the show”.

Dracula added that they hoped to rejoin the tour in Madison, Wisconsin from August 27. “I am sorry to any of you who were looking forward to seeing us perform,” they continued. “I was unable to make this post any earlier as I lost my phone in the fire. Everyone in the crew is safe, however, including myself. We look forward to jumping back in soon.”

They also shared videos of the bus on fire, as well as evidence of the damage caused.

Dracula then shared a follow-up message on their Instagram story. “Thank you to everyone who has shown us love the last couple of days. We really appreciate it,” they said.

“A lot of you have asked if you can donate money, and whilst I appreciate it, I don’t want to take money from any of you. Your vocal support is more than enough.

“Despite my career flourishing this year, I’ve just gone from almost taking my own life to just barely escaping death, so now I feel like something out there wants me to live. Thus, that is the plan, Jan.

“I will figure this out and we will be back on the road shortly. Thank you.”

Dracula’s debut album ‘A Gradual Decline In Morale’ was released in 2023. They played their first shows in the UK earlier this year, including an appearance at Download Festival.

Ghostface Killah Taps Into the Power of Imagination

Ghostface Killah Taps Into the Power of Imagination

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Last year, Ghostface Killah told Rolling Stone that he was disappointed by the rap landscape, lamenting, “A lot of stuff be regular darts.” He added, “I don’t hear niggas doing storytelling no more.” His thoughts went viral, even becoming the catalyst for an additional conversation with Stephen A. Smith. While bemoaning a “lack of substance,” he declared, “We’re the type of niggas that can rhyme about an eyeball falling out your face, and having the police pick it up and put it in a plastic bag.”

He said “we,” but it feels like only Ghost would concoct that scenario — off the cuff, at that. Ghost has long been a rap surrealist, imbuing one of hip-hop’s most no-nonsense scenes, gritty New York rap, with a streak of vibrance and borderline whimsy. Only someone still in touch with their inner child could rap about a pimpin’ version of SpongeBob Squarepants like he did on “Underwater,” from his 2006 album Fishscale.

Supreme Clientele 2 rides the energy of his impassioned call for more creativity. He’s attempting to lead by example on a project with song concepts, skits, and lyrical highs reflecting someone that still loves making rap music. To be clear, Supreme Clientele 2 isn’t the masterpiece that the original 2000 album is. But there are plenty of credible rap fans who will argue you down that no other album is as good as Ghost’s id opus. This project, like his Wu-Brethren Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, proposes that it doesn’t make sense to rate a sequel in terms of whether it’s as good as its decades-old precursor as much as how successfully the original concept was done justice.

A million rappers have rhymed about being raided by the feds like he did on “Iron Man.” But few would follow that up with this visual: “I threw my raps in thе fireplace, then right out of the smoke rose a dead man/He had big chains, sick frame, sick flames/Even had a white glove with him, thought he was Rick James.” At his best, Ghost straps listeners in on an 80 mile per hour rollercoaster featuring locked-in co-stars like M.O.P. (“Sample 420”) and Nas (“Love Me Anymore”), and cinematic details like putting kids in a bathroom and distracting them with Cheetos before a gunfight, as he does on the crime caper “Georgy Porgy.”

Editor’s picks

On “4th Disciple,” he evokes his classic verse on Wu-Tang Forever’s “Impossible,” while depicting himself trying to revive his friend Taj. On “The Trial,” he comes together with Raekwon, GZA, Method Man, and Reek the Villain, who all play different roles in a fictional trial. It’s a standout track of the Wu’s later years that speaks to the sonic ingenuity that Ghost has said was lacking in current hip-hop. “Metaphysics” feels the closest to the original Supreme Clientele’s spirit, where he’s rhyming free associatively over a sparse breakbeat with horn hits then opens the second verse dishing, “I could put my mama face on the pancake box.” Like some of Ghost’s most memorable moments, it’s unclear what he’s getting at, but the phrase is so vivid and comedic that it just works.

He’s similarly colorful on “Breakbeat,” where he spits rapid-fire over a pair of Eighties-style drum loops, rhyming, “Dodgin’ bullets while I’m guardin’ the base like Steve Garvey.” The attrition on his vocal cords is apparent throughout the album, including on this track, and it affects how cleanly his once flawless flow unfurls. But he’s still tearing through bars on the self-produced song. He follows that up with the more conversational “Beat Box,” where he’s flirtatiously rhyming back and forth with Aisha Hall over a Dougie Fresh-inspired composition. After those two overt Eighties tributes comes his lead single “Rap Kingpin,” where he and Scram Jones link Rakim’s “Check Out My Melody” with remnants of Supreme Clientele standout “Mighty Healthy.” Kudos to whoever imagined those two melodies blending as seamlessly as they do here. The song is another example of hip-hop’s capacity for cross-generation conversations — could we get a Rakim remix?

That said, the 22-track album has moments that it could’ve done without. “Soul Thang” runs long without him in the second half of the song. “Candyland” also doesn’t feel necessary, with his bar “Bill Cosby, K.O. roofies, this for the groupies” being a disturbing clunker. And while his “Pause” skit is a funny and self-deprecating take on fragile masculinity, his Dave Chappelle-featured ”Sale of the Century” skit is marred by a contestant on the track’s fictional game show who regressively boasts about waking up and slapping his wife in the morning. Sure, Ghost has his creative license to put that in a skit without anyone attributing it directly to him, but the skit was funny without joking about spousal abuse.

Overall, in line with Slick Rick’s and Raekwon’s recent albums, which were also a part of Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It series, Ghost gives it all he has in 2025 over golden-era-evoking breakbeats and a mesh of soul and funk samples from his youth. No, it’s not a one-of-one monument of impeccable poetics like the original, but what is? It’s invigorating to hear and see the effort Ghost put into Supreme Clientele 2, one of the most imaginative, outrageous listens of the year.

Backstreet Boys Unlock New Pop Possibilities at Sphere: Pop Shop Podcast

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

As the first pop headliner at the Las Vegas Sphere, Backstreet Boys were able to bring a brand-new sense of fun, nostalgia and Y2K whimsy to the cutting-edge venue.

Onstage at their Into the Millennium residency — which began last month and wrapped its first wave on Sunday night (before kicking off 14 additional dates starting in December) — BSB promised to put the crowd into a “time machine” back to the late-’90s heyday of boy bands and bubblegum pop. Katie was in the orb for the 21st show over the weekend, and on the new Billboard Pop Shop Podcast, she tells Keith all about her spaceship ride back to the turn of the millennium.

After witnessing visual feats from U2, Eagles and Dead & Company, the thing that stuck out the most to Katie was how fun this go-round at the Sphere was — especially the boy band’s use of the rumbling seats and floor for big-bang moments and the way the group’s trademark choreography was blown up to supersize on the floor-to-ceiling screen, highlighting all the dance moves we learned in our living rooms while watching MTV’s TRL.

Hear our full discussion about the Backstreet Boys spectacle on the podcast below:

Also on the show, as Morgan Wallen sits tight at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Conan Gray and Billie Eilish shake up the top 10, while Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department returns to the top 10 in the wake of the news of her forthcoming album. Plus, on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, we now have four songs from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack in the top 10. When was the last time a soundtrack had four top 10s? And has any soundtrack ever had four hits in the top 10 at the same time?

Bradley Cooper & Will Arnett Team on Divorce Comedy

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Bradley Cooper’s found a sweet spot for himself, writing and directing movies about those who live and die on stage, but his next film looks like it’ll be a little lighter than Maestro. At the very least, Is This Thing On? is about a stand-up comedian, played by Will Arnett, who’s going through a divorce from his wife (Laura Dern) and trying to find the humor in it.

The official description, courtesy of Searchlight Pictures, says that “The film centers on Alex (Will Arnett) as he faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family — forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form.” The new trailer features Arnett’s Alex taking the stage, drawing the audience into his plight by stating the facts about his new living arrangement. In addition to Dern and Arnett, the cast includes Cooper, Andra Day, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds, and Scott Icenogle.

Cooper became a prestige cinema darling with his first film, the A Star Is Born remake that got “Shallow” stuck in our heads for all of 2018, and received heaps of acclaim for his 2023 Leonard Bernstein biopic, Maestro. (He also made a surprise appearance in the Season 4 premiere of The Righteous Gemstones.)
